Got a door dash order of a torta and quessabirria panini, it was pretty good! My boyfriend said the torta meat was a bit try and my quessabirria was very oily. We ordered towards the end of the day so I understand not getting the best quality. My meat was not included in the delivery to Seattle. I have contacted them three times and I still have not received a refund. It's been a month since they have processed my payment and I'm not sure if I will ever get my money back. There are so many good local butchers, I won't risk ordering from Blue Valley again, even though their meat is good. I notice that they are no longer Better Business Bureau accredited where I wrote my review of this company. I was browsing through my old letters sent and this one popped up. It still makes me angry, so I just had to share. On 7/23/2016 I placed and order online for several products from Blue Valley Meats. I live in Bothell and they have a delivery program where I meet their delivery truck to pick up the products that were already paid for. At the time of delivery, one of the products ($168 worth) was not what I had ordered. The driver said that was no problem. He kept the wrong product in the truck and said he would call me to arrange another delivery of the product I had actually paid for. The driver never called me or emailed me to schedule the delivery of the products I had already paid for. After more emails with no response, they finally say they will Fed Ex me the product. More time goes by and nothing happens. More emails and finally I had to threaten them with action if they did not resolve the issue and I get this: "I am sorry I thought this was handled I will take care of it on Monday and ship it out." Again, more time goes by and nothing happens. More emails and wasted time on my end after this with no response . I get an immediate response after I tell them I am filing a credit card complaint. I attempt to file a credit card complaint but too much time had elapsed since the transaction date - ironic since this was because so much time had elapsed due to the promised resolution that they never fulfilled, Now I have to waste more of my time filing this complaint. I believe Blue Valley Meats is acting in a deceptive and dishonest manner. I gave them every possible opportunity to resolve this, and they choose to ignore my requests to this day (which is now 12/10/2016, almost 5 months since my order was placed). read more

This is for Blue Valley's delivery service, not their Walla Walla shop, which I've never been to. But if you're thinking of ordering through them-DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY. I decided to try out their service, and placed an order at the beginning of December for their next delivery date, which was the first weekend in January. After waiting over a half hour in the cold, their driver never showed. They also never tried to contact any of their customers to explain why. I left a message on their answering machine--because they never pick up their phone--and never received a response. Two weeks later, I get charged for a delivery I never received, and told that it would be coming that weekend! I called them and e-mailed them--again, no one picked up the phone during business hours--though at least this time someone called me back. They explained they had rescheduled their deliveries and that there had been a glitch in their e-mail notifications. Fine, these things happen--I asked to cancel the order and get a refund, as I had already bought other groceries to make up for the delivery that never showed. I got a refund invoice right away--only to find out a week later that they STILL have not refunded the charges to my credit card. Once again, I've called--no response. I've had to dispute the charges through my bank--it's now almost a month later and I have no meat, and they are still holding on to over a hundred dollars of my money. These people might have the best meat in the world, but I wouldn't know. They don't deliver on schedule, they never answer their phones, and they don't even give the refunds they promise. Save yourself some time and aggravation and go somewhere else. I was originally thinking of giving them a second chance, but now I'll be ordering my meat through Terra Organics--they might not have the same bulk options, but they give you good value for your money, and if they do happen to make a mistake, they will respond and correct it right away, unlike Blue Valley. read more

I'm giving this company one star, because I can't give them any less. And just to be clear, the low review is solely based on their customer service and and not on their products, which are incredible, or their physical location, which I've never visited. I've ordered from them a few times in the past, and I've always been thrilled with the product, but took a hiatus for a bit, not based on anything that they did. I came back about tin June, made an order, and it seemed to be business as usual. Until the day of delivery, when we got an e-mail telling us that their truck broke down, and that the delivery would be there the next day instead. Okay, no problem, things happen, they let us know, no biggie. Checked my e-mail on Sunday, nothing saying the delivery was cancelled, went to the prescribed pick-up location, and the truck never showed. All of us waiting there (so I know it wasn't just me misunderstanding) called the office, got no answer of course, because they're closed Sundays. Finally, later that day, an e-mail showed up saying that the delivery would be there the next Saturday. No apologies for wasting our time, to taking up our mornings, for giving us the wrong information, nothing. Okay, so at this point, I'm irritated, but figure I'd go with it, and come the next Saturday, the order was delivered. All well and good. July order went off without a hitch, so I figure 'okay, it was just a one-time thing.' And then came August's order. I placed the order, and this company, you shop based on estimated prices, and then the Friday before the delivery, they e-mail you a final bill based on the exact weight of the products. It's never been a problem, and I fully expect to pay for what I get. When you make the online order, they place a hold on the funds in the account you use. Again, no problem, I don't buy things I don't have the money for. So there's a hold for $231.41 in my account, because I'd restocked my freezer completely, and wasn't going to be available to make an order in September. All good so far... And a couple of days later, another hold from them shows up in my account for $277.53, along with a 'detailed invoice' in my e-mail telling me there was an adjustment for an additional $46.12. So now, they have a hold on $508.94 of my money, and there's an additional amount that I'm trying to figure out how they arrived at, because things should just fluctuate by a matter of ounces, not a couple of pounds of an expensive cut. So I e-mailed them and asked them just to make sure that everything was okay, because of the discrepancy in the prices, and there being two holds, I thought that someone else's order might have been charged to my account by mistake. No answer until two days later, the Friday before the order, I get the final bill...with FINAL in capital letters, with the actual details, and I find out what's going on. The $59 steak package I put into my order got jacked up to 109.85. How 5 steaks could nearly double in price is beyond me, but I figure I'll wait until I see what's actually in the order, before I raise a fuss. The day of the delivery, I go, the truck shows up, and lo and behold? My order is not on the truck. The poor driver searched through everything twice, and it's just not there. He says that he'll let them know, so that my money can be credited to my account. So later that day, I e-mailed them, just to follow up, and request an eta. No answer. Thankfully, on Monday, the estimated charge hold finally drops off my account, so I can actually buy groceries, but the final charge cleared. Called and left a message for Paula Hobbs, who is listed in their invoice e-mail, and surprise...no response. Another e-mail telling them that with the lack of a response, they are leaving me no choice but to contact my card company, and a week later, still no response. I think that waiting two full weeks for a response is more than generous, and unfortunately, I will now be forced to file a complaint with my financial institution in order to retrieve my funds. I know that we're all human, that mistakes are made, and that unavoidable things DO happen in business. I also know that when these things happen, communication is key to making things right. The customer service that this company has shown me is appalling. And it breaks my heart, because they do offer a good product, which is reasonably priced, locally sourced, and humanely and ethically derived.. But the way they have treated (or to be completely correct, NOT treated) me, and some of their other customers (a couple of which I see on here) is inexcusable. read more

I really hate to leave a bad review for this company, but I've waited long enough for someone from Blue Valley Meats to respond to me. I've received absolutely nothing. Local and sustainable food is important to me. I found Blue Valley Meats after quite a bit of research and after Thundering Hooves and the dot com who carried their meat went under. Over the last year, I've ordered almost $600 in meat, delivered via their local delivery schedule available on their website. I was always happy, and after buying a house that allowed for us to have an extra freezer, I was ready to ramp up my ordering. 2 orders ago, half my order was mistakenly given to someone else. The driver was nice, and accommodating. I pulled up my order on my phone, and he did his best to throw some extras my way that matched my order. When I got home, I received a call from the driver stating that it was mixed up with someone else's order, and he had the other half. I was able to return within minutes, as I live walking distance to the delivery point. No harm, but I realized what he had been trying to compensate me was no where near what was missing. Everything turned out ok in the end. This last order was a nightmare. For every other order I've placed over the past year, I've received a delivery reminder and a final invoice prior to the actual delivery date (delivery dates vary). Because this was such a reliable communication, I did not place reminders on my phone. Delivery reminders never failed - until this order. I received the reminder and final invoice (totals vary depending on actual item shipped) hours after the delivery happened. I immediately called them, and the phone was answered by an apologetic man, saying I was about the 100th call he'd received that day and he needed to talk to his bookkeeper. He gave me the number for the delivery driver, and suggested I call to see if I could meet up with him. I called, and the only option was Snoqualmie late on a Saturday night. We didn't feel like driving an hour in the dark, late at night, but the driver said we'd be contacted to reschedule delivery. I was told his dad was in the area almost every week, and was left with the feeling that this would be taken care of. Nothing to worry about. Five days roll by, and I receive not so much as an email or any attempt at contact. So, I send an email to the generic info@ email listed on their site inquiring about when I could expect re-delivery. Geoff replied via his phone within minutes and told me to check out their schedule. They'd be in Seattle next Friday and Saturday. I live in Tacoma. Seattle is not at all convenient for me, so I requested a refund, minus the 20% restocking fee they state on their website. I received no response whatsoever. So, I decided to email their bookkeeper directly, whose email can also be found on their website. I asked to confirm she received the request. No response. I don't want to be an unhappy customer, but I'm not left with much of a choice. Blue Valley provides a very needed product for those of us who care about the source of their food and whether it's humanely treated. I was actually looking forward to ordering on each available delivery date, and bought a small chest freezer to accommodate this. Unfortunately, my next step is to contest the charges with my credit card company due to lack of response, and to find other locally available meat sources. I'm so disappointed. Update: Received my refund after posting this review. Maybe I'll give them another shot someday, but it will likely be a while. read more

Great butcher shop. It's hidden in an old unassuming building so don't pass judgement before you actually get in the shop. I've bought primarily specialty items, but the steaks, pork, lamb and chicken look of high quality. I needed a full beef brisket with the fat cap on it. No problem. They cut me one on the spot. I needed Linguica sausage for jambalaya, they had it. Smoked hamhock for pork and beans, no problem. Best of all the price is only slightly higher than what you'd pay for the lower grade version at the supermarket. don't miss out. Well worth the time and few extra dollars. read more

I order a whole hog from Blue Valley in March 2016 and when I received my order in Seattle discovered that I was given meat dated back to Oct 2015. When I order the whole hog, I was not told that I would actually be receiving cuts from old butchered pigs that make up the cuts of what would be considered a whole hog. I think what they do is freeze the meat they don't sell in the store front and then sell it to customers who buy whole or half hogs. I contacted the company and they got pretty upset with me when I said that I felt deceived by what I received and the freshness of the meat. I was basically told to just deal with it. I went to their website to make sure I didn't misread or misinterpret what I ordered and there is nothing that indicates that they package old cuts. I think their messaging is deceiving and I would not have ordered from them in the first place if I knew I would be getting old meat. The upside is that the meat is good, and from a local, sustainable source. I won't be buying from company again though because I don't like giving my money to dishonest companies. read more

Can't comment on quality because I never received my meat. I ordered it for delivery in Seattle. The driver didn't have my order when I showed up. Multiple emails, phones, and promises to fed-ex my order yielded...nothing. I've disputed the charges with my cc company. I really wanted to like these folks and I don't think they are intentionally committing fraud, but the result is the same. Not a good experience. I have been a customer of Blue Valley Meats for ten years. Recently my order was wrong - they were short one package of beef. Not a bid deal I thought - just call and have them credit me for the missing meat. I called FIVE times and spoke to various people and the last time I spoke to the owner. I still haven't seen a credit on my credit card statement and this was months ago. So I am switching to the organic meat at Costco. I was having a concern that the quality of their meat had gone down in recent years anyways. They aren't certified as organic so they could be using GMO grains to supplement the diet of their livestock. Regardless, the crappy customer service has turned this long time customer away. read more

This place is great! I've only been to the shop once because we live in the Tri-Cities and don't head to Walla Walla often. But we take advantage of their free delivery to the Tri-Cities all the time. You can't beat that. Their online ordering system/website is easy to navigate. They always get our order right and their meats are fantastic. Personally, it's important for my family to eat humanely raised and harvested meats. As far as I can tell all their products come from animals raised this way. It makes me feel good to support this kind of operation. And their meats are delicious and they have a wide range of things to choose from. We highly recommend their ground sirloin and any of their homemade sausages...yum! Their prices are higher than grocery stores but really, it's a completely different product. For the quality that they offer their prices are completely reasonable. read more

The one star review is for their utter lack of customer service, not for their products. I have ordered from Blue Valley several times and was very pleased with the quality of their meat and reasonable prices for locally sourced, ethically raised animals. However, my most recent order of over $100 was not delivered to the pick up location or was possibly picked up by another customer. For whatever reason, my order was not at the location when I went to pick up. Blue Valley seldom answers their phone, and the two times I did get through to a person, I was told they would look into the problem and get back to me which they did not. My e-mails went completely unacknowledged as did the messages I left on their machine. At no point was I offered a refund or a replacement of my missing order. I had to resort to a credit card dispute in order to get my money back. It should not take multiple phone calls and e-mails to actually get someone to address the fact that I paid for a product I did not receive. It is disappointing because I truly did enjoy the meat I ordered from them in the past and now have to look for a new source of affordable organic meat. I will definitely not risk ordering from this company again in the future. read more
