If you are from the area or an area that has a Safeway, you are probably familiar with this grocery store chain. Yes, it has what I need to survive. Add five stars. If I don't use the Safeway app or the computer to click the "Just for You" savings coupons of what I might buy that day or even the "Not just for you" savings coupons, then I'll pay higher prices. I HATE coupons. Of course, it is tracking everything that I purchase, and surprise next week I'll have a coupon Just for Me. I feel so special. Minus four stars. I do earn gas points based on the dollar amount that I spend during the month, which was worthless for this town (no Safeway gas here) until they partnered with Chevron. Plus one star. Since I've been shopping at this grocery store for more than 20 years, I can take a nap at the same time I'm grocery shopping. Plus one star. Solid three stars.

I'm disappointed that andy's market has essentially "sold out" to giant corporate interests. A…read moregrocery store built on the premise of healthy options now sells mostly main stream junk food products from the mega corporation Pepsico which uses very manipulative advertising and false claims. Their cereal is mostly sugar based, same effect on the brain as cocaine and proven to cause brain rot. There are few to no organic options I buy such as hummus, cereal, chips, non sweetened fruit, bread, unprocessed protein options, and milk. Personally I don't like being "served", I think required politeness and civility hurts workers by emotionally enslaving them and isn't authentic to the history of the products, how they are made, and what they really are. Instead of processing the history of products they are selling empty emotional transactional "vibes" essentially trying to emotionally own the transaction. Payment shouldn't be a value The bulk food section is an option with a wide selection though not as many organic options as I'd prefer. The vitamin selection is adequate though I'd prefer to buy medicinal tinctures in larger quantities than available. The vegetarian processed food is too expensive to buy on a budget, non organic, and have way too much oil and salt in them. Most of the brands sold are lecherous and emotionally manipulative. I know they are trying to process their "biblical" beliefs but "killer" bread, "love" cereal, "gold" milk, "Morningstar" vege food, is just garbage.

Open on Christmas day--that's handy (even if it sucks for the employees)…read more I had to make (count 'em) *three* trips here on Christmas day due to poor planning and an unforseen issue arising. They were open each time (from 8am to 5pm, for the record). They had a wide selection of things, including some relatively unusual items (believe it or not, they were: peanut oil (first trip); Martinelli's (including some flavors I had never seen) (second trip); non-iodized sea salt (without calcium cilcate or any other additive (really hard to find)) and a shot glass (third trip)). They were the only grocery store open in the Walla Walla Valley today (not Andy's, not Safeway, not Super 1, not Wal-Mart), and it appeared as if it was a good business move inasmuch as the parking lot was full each of the three times I was there (as also were the checkout lines). Thanks, Albertson's for saving my day (three times)!

The alcohol is locked in cabinets and they have taken out the call for service buttons. This means…read moreyou have to go from the back of the store to the front and interrupt a cashier to have the person call someone to help you. Or you can try to find an employee somewhere. The reason? An employee told me the buttons take a 3 volt battery that they don't carry any more and have to order, get this, from Amazon. So bring a fog horn with you to cause a commotion. In the past, they would just post a sticky note saying out of order. This happened all the time. Now they have removed them altogether. Because this store is turning into a Safeway, I'm wondering if this will be a policy of all Safeways here? I will personally take $10/hour to stand there for 8 hours a day, M-F, to assist customers. And I'm friendly!
