I luckily live super close to blue tile, so this is a regular pop in coffee shop for me. I enjoy the open vibe inside. The large floor to ceiling windows make it a bright, and open space. It is a great place to get some work done, but it does fill up fast. The Banana Pudding matcha is a favorite for me. I just tried out the pumpkin cold brew, and I really enjoyed it. The cold foam on top was very tasty. The service is always fast and precise. They also serve pastries and breakfast/lunch options, but none of them have blown me out of the water. Drinks are quite pricy and will run you around $7, but I guess that is quite normal for Houston. Overall, a solid coffee shop! read more

Next stop on my coffee passport and it was a great decision. This place is larger than I expected for it to be on a corner of an HEB. Parking is a little cutthroat but it was totally worth it. Came here on a weekday evening, I was craving coffee after my grocery stop so decided to give this place a try. I'm a true coffee enthusiast so with that being said I ordered a flat white and I personally wished I had more of that expression flavor. We also ordered an Americano which was great. It would be nice if they offered sizes for to go orders nonetheless, this place was clean and big, with plenty of seating. The service was quick and friendly. Coffee shop connected to the Heb on Washington. Its kind of inconspicuous. But it's a very spacious coffee shop with a unique menu. I ordered a strawberry match which I say looks a lot better than it taste. One, you definitely have to stir or shake it up before you drink it. Buttt even after doing thst it's kind of lack luster of a drink. They have plenty of options to choose from so I do plan to go back abd further explore their menu. But my drink was mid. I am always searching for a good hot latte. While making a pit stop traveling back to Hutto from Galveston, I promised my girlfriend we would have coffee time and get drinks. Blue Tile Coffee was across the street from Truth Barbecue, and thanks to my peers on Yelp, it looked to be a safe bet in the area we were in. Inside, it was a really cute space. Plenty of windows and natural light, and their bar was beautiful with its letter board menu, wooden decor, and square wrap-around space. I don't know what espresso machine they use, but it looked super slick. There was a family in front of us, but it was only a few minutes before our beverages were ready. I was busy digging through the baseball cards and Pokémon cards they had for grabs. I ordered a hot lavender oat milk latte while my girlfriend ordered a shaken brown sugar espresso. My drink was pretty good, and hers tasted even better. As we waited by their coffee bar, we admired their blue tile sign of their name, which was super stylish. Absolutely love this coffee shop! They are always playing relaxing/calming music and the ambiance is nice. There is limited seating, but I haven't had an issue getting a spot before. This trip, I tried their cinnamon roll latte and the mushroom & poblano empanada. Both were really good. The sauce that comes with the empanada has a good spice level to it. The cinnamon roll latte was good, but it didn't taste like a cinnamon roll. Everyone who works here has been so sweet and helpful! Friend recommended visit during the Houston Marathon. Traffic to get around was challenging, but once we got inside, the space is clean and they have a variety of offerings. This experience I would consider a one off because of streets being closed and the crowds during the marathon, but I opted for their chai latte. Nothing extremely notable other than it had good flavor and a good way to combat the freezing weather. Only one barista was available at the time and did her best to take orders and prepare them. While I understood the delay, I saw others that arrived after me get their drinks before me and that's when I went to inquire about my latte. I was leaving the area after an appointment and decided to try a new coffee shop. I had the cinnamon roll latte with oat milk iced, and a pistachio muffin. The pistachio muffin was delicious and had bits of actual pistachio in it. They also sell croissant muffins, which I plan to try next time. They have seasonal drinks available, breakfast sandwiches, plenty of seating inside if you wanted to work there or meet up with friends. I've visited this spot a couple of times now and have been enjoying their Vanilla Latte with oat milk. I like the nuttiness and creaminess of their coffee. A con I have noticed is that sometimes my cup isn't filled all the way to the top. Parking at this cafe can be super tricky as it's right next to the HEB and across from them are reserved parking for the residents. The coffee is also on the pricier end as I currently pay $7.58 for a hot, 12 oz latte. Besides the price and the parking, I would say this is a good quality spot to get your coffee from. I tried the Strawberry Cream Matcha, and while it's creamy, the flavor leaned heavily toward the strawberry purée from monin bottle with just a whisper of matcha. After an initially hyped opening with plenty of buzz (#1), Blue Tile Coffee was supposed to be the anti-IG coffee establishment with a future of high quality pastries, tacos, and craft beer. Located right next to an HEB in the Heights, it been a spot to get a little work done, a coffee date spot, and occasional meeting destination ... before a serious grocery run. The minimal interior has worked well for them. Plenty of natural lighting, comfortable seating, and being in a central location has played a big part in their success. I appreciate their Wi-Fi, clean bathrooms, and extensive outdoor seating. Service has been great on some days and lukewarm on many others. I've had a good number of drinks here and there have been some standouts as well as some low lights. The cafe au lait and nitro cold brew have been the most consistently solid, with the latter not served over ice, unlike the regular cold brew. Their Vietnamese iced coffee hasn't been my favorite and even feels a bit overpriced at $6. Another miss has been their iced matcha latte, which feels a bit watered down at times. Food is a lot more limited than I would have hoped, but in the past the pastries have reigned supreme, while the breakfast tacos leave much to be desired at $4.50 each. I had high hopes for the latter, but there hasn't been a lot of movement here. If not for the ambiance, I do think that there isn't much to help distinguish them from other major coffee-based establishments but I'm hopeful they find their ways here. I have been making coffee at home for a while now to save money, but I decided to treat myself this weekend to a couple of specialty drinks to mix things up. Saturdays caffeine choice was a strawberries and crème Matcha. And today I got a chocolate covered strawberry latte. Both of these drinks come iced and I was able to get coconut milk as an alternative. Both drinks were so good! I loved the ratio of strawberry to matcha. Some places just don't get it right, but Blue tile did. I also enjoyed the chocolate covered strawberry drink. It was a nice pick me up this morning. The service is always great. The baristas are friendly and laid back. The ambiance is always chill with music playing and patrons working or studying. Blue tile is a fave for sure. So good! Was visiting Houston for a bachelorette trip and this coffee shop was in walking distance to our Air BnB. Located on the side of HEB, the shop was very clean, friendly, and inviting. They had a delicious strawberries and cream matcha that was the best matcha I've ever had. Everyone else in our party enjoyed their drinks. Many of us came back the next day for more drinks! I finally got to try Blue Tile cause I had a friend visiting who wanted a place to grab coffee and do some work. There are plenty of seats inside, but each person doing work or studying can take up the majority of the small tables with their laptops and papers. You can always sit outside, but it was a bit hot and humid. Iron chairs aren't as comfortable either. Parking can be tricky. You're lucky if you can find a spot near the Arlo Buffalo Heights apartments, but there's also a parking garage and HEB's lot. We were lucky to find a couple open spots at HEB on a Monday, Memorial Day holiday. The line to order definitely got longer after we ordered. I was going to try the mushroom danish, but my friend ordered the ham and cheese and also wanted to try the raspberry matcha cube. We dined in, so the pastries were ready on a plate, and the coffee came out about 5 minutes after. I ordered the vanilla latte with oat milk. I was torn for flavor options, but he said vanilla was the most popular. The coffee was hotter but not too hot that you'd burn your tongue. Catalina's the other day wasn't as hot. The raspberry matcha cube was hard to eat. It's stacked too high that taking a bite would be awkward. I cut it in half, and that also was a task with the croissant flakes flying everywhere. Inside the cube is a matcha filling and raspberry jam. The raspberry flavor was good. Tasted homemade. Matcha can be a bit grainy in texture but wasn't bad. I will opt for a different type of croissant next time. I'll definitely be back since it's close to where I live, and I enjoyed their latte with art design. read more

I'm visiting Houston for a week and am impressed by the sheer number of interesting coffee shop options within the loop. I plan to check out a few of them and am starting with Blue Tile this afternoon. It's a very comfortable and aesthetically appealing spot, but I'm not partial to the espresso, which has a very citrusy and almost sour profile (I'm sure others like it just fine; it's just not my preference). I didn't see dedicated spots. but if you plan ahead, you could probably use HEB garage parking and walk. Street parking is available. HEB also has a small parking up front but it's mainly used for shoppers. It's a decent space to take a break or co-working. As usual I like to post on the high seating by the window. I'm in Houston for work and decided to explore the top-rated coffee shops in the area since I'm a big fan of iced lattes. While I agree that the parking is terrible, it's not something the owner or staff can control. What they can control is the coffee, and let me tell you, I was thoroughly disappointed. I ordered a seasonal drink, and it was simply awful. The first sip was like taking a cup of sugar, mixed with milk, and a drop of coffee. I don't usually mind sweet drinks, but this was just plain gross. It took me hours for the sweetness to finally leave my taste buds. On top of this, my coffee was $7, so I spent that money and only took one sip before throwing the drink away. I debated asking the barista to remake my coffee, or to change my order, but the barista did not strike me as affable. I wouldn't recommend this place unless you like your coffee to taste like straight sugar. It's a 2/5 stars, and I won't be returning. read more

Tried Blue Tile Coffee while riding around on my bicycle for groceries at and noticing they had a bike rack for customers right next to the entrance and easy access to HEB. The coffee was warm and to my liking. The customer support was excellent. Both the interior and exterior of the store were relaxing and comfortable. I was incredibly confused upon arrival as the shop is attached to the local HEB...is it the same coffee shop previously attached to the San felipe HEB prior to closing down? Attached to the local HEB means, attached to the local HEB limited parking (on the weekends), means attached to the local HEB dual shoppers and coffee drinkers, means attached to the local HEB traffic. Additionally, the location is across from atleast three apartment complexes of various price points. This being said, you receive a gaggle of company, from students, to hobbyists, to daters, to professionals, to cyclist, to folks patiently awaiting their friends or family to finish shopping. The floor to ceiling windows were the standout for me personally. Apart from those, the service was just meh- only making eye contact to ask me what I want, only one out of two patrons answered when I asked if they'd ordered (considering they were hovering around the counter blocking the view to the menu), sound carries based on the layout, the coffee was...just fine, there are minimal chargers for studying, extra toilet paper (yay) but no hooks for women's bags in the restrooms, there was a biker openly vaping on the couch, and the WiFi wouldn't show up on my computer (which may be more of a me than them problem). This one's not for me personally, and I would recommend it to the hobbyist not the studier (unless you're within walkable distance of course), but I certainly wish them the best and likely will pick up a cup of liquid energy if visiting this HEB in the future. read more

Why 3 stars? Because my nitro was just okay. --- --- --- My experience here was brief, like it usually is for coffee shops around. I walked in, saw that nitro was on the menu, and stopped looking at the menu. I ordered myself one-a-dem, black, and started sucking it down. It was nice as creamy, as nitros tend to be, but the flavor of the beans was not a match for what I was hoping for. It was a bit aggressive with a weird flavor profile, which was a bummer.
