Love the venue, talent was amazing. Not a fan of the uncomfortable chairs, but I don't think those will change! A wonderful evening can be left with bad feelings if you have a surly, rude wait staff, and Karyn was all that. We arrived early, ordered all at one time with no special requests. And we tipped as if everything was fine. But she never asked if we needed anything else, she slammed the food down and tossed the tip tray. Questions were answered as if we were wasting her time. I don't expect her to smile and act like we are friends (although tips increase that way), but she could be civil. I know it isn't an easy place to navigate for staff, but we were nice customers, and come often. I will worry next time that she will be my waitress. read more

Review: March 11th, 2026 I was on a mission to find a music event to attend to ON the NIGHT of my birthday which was March 11th. I came across Blue Strawberry during my search and decided to book. I didn't care if I would have to attend solo being that it was midweek and I didn't confirm with my friends. The Venue: I had a hard time locating the building, especially since it was night and I've never been there. Parking is on the street. I parked a block or two away and walked. Once I found the building, I tried to open the door, well it didn't open. That's when I realized that it was closed. I was like, I know they didn't lock the door after the event started. I then saw a buzzer so I decided to press it, hoping that it wouldn't interrupt, but alert the staff...After a minute or so, I noticed a paper sign stating to "use other door"...but which? The door adjacent it was for another business. I then locate the correct one around the side. Wallah! Once inside: the hostess checked me in. Her tablet decided to lock and she had to ask an older guy for the password (seem as though he might have been the owner or manager, he didn't look very pleasant nor welcoming). Anyways on to my seat to enjoy the show which already had started. The venue is very small, with low lighting in the audience and lighting focused on the proformers. Black tablets with seatings for two or four were throughout with one table for larger group. I suppose they can rearrange to accommodate.I was offered to sit anywhere as this event was very low turned out. The Attendees: The event attendees were mostly LGBTQIA folks, maybe due to the area or maybe the entertainer followers, either way I didn't care. I was out for a good time & I love, love regardless. Requirements: Venue has a minimum of $15 spending per person. I noticed most attendees opted for a drink. The larger party ordered food. I decided to skip on the food. I had the St Louis Swing to sip on. It was perfect. Larger than I expected! Overall: Great for small intimate events, especially locals or non "mainstream." Great views regarless of seating, and inexpensive! Honestly, I am not sure If I'll visit again although I enjoyed the event, nothing really stood out about the place or it's hospitality. read more

Blue strawberry is a special spot. It's locally owned and operated, and they feature local and regional talent. You will notice how special it is when you walk in and are greeted warmly, shown to your table and enjoy the vibe. The first three rows of tables the music can be rather loud, so if you feel like that would be an issue sit further back or towards the bar. While most of the focus is on the talent that they host, the food is absolutely incredible here. We got there early to enjoy a peaceful dinner before the show. My favorite item on the menu is the brussels sprouts appetizer. No one makes them like this. My dining companion ordered the chicken Kiev served with seasonal vegetables (squash with grilled pepper strips and onions), and roasted potatoes. I ordered the beet salad with an incredible horseradish dressing. I normally would never choose that, but the flavors complimented each other so well, and the horseradish dressing was not overpowering. Rather it balanced the sweetness of the roasted beets and the dried cranberries. We decided to get the chocolate cake for dessert, which is plenty for two people. It's so decadent and rich that we couldn't even finish it. They have a rather large cocktail menu and wine list. There's also beer and soft drinks available. Please note during shows there is a $15 minimum food/drink order person. The service is excellent! I highly recommend our server, Arissa (sp?), who took great care of us all night. There is street parking available so if you're disabled get there early to get a close spot. They have two unisex bathrooms with locks that don't always quite work though. read more

Overall it was ok. You come here for the amazing artists who do small, intimate shows. We came and saw Nicholas Brooks, renowned jazz musician and performer. The vibes are great for the performance, dim lights and cozy setting where the artist can walk around and talk with the audience. The food, however, was ok. We ordered the fried ravioli and calamari. Fried ravioli was very dry and the calamari was average. The service was a little slow (although it was during the show, so I understand the challenges of that). What a wonderful time we had. The ambience was of an old jazz club. The staff were friendly as we walked in. Our waitress was extremely comical, and very fast and efficient. The food was authentic St. Louis type food. The pizza is a flat type bread with the St Louis cheese which is very gluey. The cheese on the pizza was a mixture of cheddar Swiss and provolone. While I had wine my companion had an old-fashioned and said it was delicious. The Linda Ronstadt tribute was very entertaining. read more

This was a fun spot for a concert! It was nice that any tickets you buy are either table or bar seating. I like that you have a table reserved and don't have to get there hours early to line up for a seat! Every seat has a decent view of the stage. We were seated at the table furthest back by the entrance and could see the stage and hear the music very well! It is a small, cozy venue with several tables, but not too many to where it is uncomfortable. We had drinks but no food. They have a nice drink list with several cocktails, glasses of wine, bottles of wine and beer. The only thing that was a bit lacking was the table service was a bit slow especially as we first sat down. Overall, this was a nice first experience and a great place to hear some music! I walked in tonight with such high hopes, expecting an experience as beautiful as the atmosphere promised. Sadly, I've found myself sitting here, deeply disappointed and honestly a bit embarrassed that I invited others along thinking this would be special. We were among the very first to arrive, eager to enjoy the evening, but from the start, the service and overall treatment left us questioning what went wrong. Guests who arrived well after us were served promptly while we sat waiting...and waiting. When our food finally came, it was cold -- which only added to the growing frustration and confusion. At that point, I made the difficult decision to cancel my order just to avoid adding to the disappointment. What makes this even harder is that so many elements could have made this night memorable. The music is truly beautiful -- soothing, elegant, and exactly what I envisioned. But the rest of the experience simply doesn't measure up. We even asked for something as simple as having the candles on our table lit, hoping to set the mood and make the evening feel special, but that request was either ignored or completely forgotten. I don't write this lightly. I came here expecting excellence, and instead, I'm sitting here wondering what happened -- how something that had the potential to be extraordinary turned into such a letdown. It's disappointing, disheartening, and, frankly, a little shameful given the expectations set by the ambiance. read more

I invited two friends to go with me to blue strawberry tonight 12/4/25 and for the first time, the three of us left terribly disappointed. Having paid $42 for the show I anticipated a quality, professional performance. The performer was unprepared as quite a few times he was not sure what his next song was going to be. He invited three guests to perform, two of which were enjoyable and one who sang a solo song that should only been sung in the shower. The show lasted a little less than one hour and was far from being worth $42. The saving grace was having a wonderful meal, which was not included in the $42. Side note-myself, including many other people have found the chairs to be most uncomfortable and if you ever redecorate, I would recommend customer friendly chairs to sit in to watch a performance and have dinner. I will attend in the future, but now know to thoroughly check out who is performing and how long the show will be. read more

Pros and cons to this experience that land me at a solid 3 Pros - fun, unique atmosphere when you are looking for something different to do, a nice selection of wines, beers, cocktails, and NA options plus a food menu that has a little something for everyone and every occassion from happy hour, full meal, or just dessert Cons - service was mediocre. We split 2 shared plates (literally what it is called on the menu); brussel sprouts and deviled eggs, yet when the waiter brought out the food, no share plates and no serving utensils, we had to ask for all of these. Also, I was torn between 2 wines by the glass and when I asked if I could try a small sip to compare (pretty standard at a wine bar) I was told one bottle wasn't open so I couldn't try it?? Food was also just so-so, and the lighting (very BLUE) sort of took away from the dining experience. I'll come back for sure for a drink and entertainment, but I'll try one of the many other options in the neighborhood for food. PS they do have a $15 minimum on food & drink, even after you pay for your admission. So be prepared to order something. read more

Overall, I would give it a 2.5. I go here for the artists and listening room experience. I do not go here for the service, table spacing, accuracy of bill. Pros: great artists. A true listening room. MOST people seem to be quiet during performances rather than talk incessantly. Fair ticket price. Servers are polite and knowledgeable about the menu and wine. (Not about accuracy in tickets and charges) Cons: tight tables make is very hard to fit your food and drinks on a very small table for 2. Waiters and guests always saying excuse to cut through and bumping you. STL has many venues like this and they do a better job than BS. Food prices are really high. $14 for a small house salad. They do have a minimum food requirement, maybe that's the reason? I have gone twice and both times received the wrong bill , charged incorrectly and stood and waited for corrections. Why is this complicated? 2 people at one table on one ticket. Where is the miss on training or is it due to only 2 servers? Concert was over and waited for our bill. Then waited again to get it corrected. Little annoying. Sadly my friends at another table have been twice and also had bill issues each visit. Management needs to evaluate and look into issues that are happening too frequently. I will continue to attend to support my favorite artists as they deserve it. I will no longer use a card and pay by cash. So, I suggest go for the artist and just be aware of where you are seated for minimal disruptions and double check your bill before you blindly hand over a credit card. read more

I love, love, love this neighborhood piano bar and restaurant! Their food is absolutely delicious! There are weekly shows here from Broadway to Jazz to Blue Grass, local talent to Tony award winners, etc...quite the variety for every music taste. My absolute favorite is karaoke night on Fridays, and if you play an instrument or sing, there is also an open mic night on Sunday nights! The staff is great, the ambiance is wonderful, and it's the best place in the neighborhood for a night cap as well! read more

Let me start by saying what was good. The space is beautiful and the show we saw was Bobby Rush who was amazing. The entire room was being served by two servers who were running ragged and doing a great job. This was a reflection on management not staffing an establishment correctly. The employees were fantastic. The rest of the experience was terrible. The owner obviously does not know what he is doing as he couldn't even run a credit card. He did not seem to be willing or able to support his staff. The kitchen staff had to bring the food out. The tables are set up too crowded to maximize the amount of people in the venue. The food and drink prices are ridiculous. Chicken tenders were $20. It is disheartening that people open businesses that have such potential and ruin the experience for people. read more

A music club for adults! A smallish room with nicely-spaced tables and chairs ... great sight lines throughout. The sound system is crisp and clear, not loud to the edge of distortion. Wonderful food and drink service, too! We saw Marissa Mulder Sings John Prine - a fantastic show by this amazing New York-based artist, typical of the out -of-town talent booked here, in addition to other shows featuring local musicians. Cabaret, pop, jazz, folk, in addition to comedy and open mic nights. Reasonable ticket/cover charges. The Blue Strawberry is everything you need for a special "date night" out in St Louis. The ambiance is awesome. Love this venue for the singers that come through and the vibes that come with the establishment. The food, HOWEVER, is not good. We had the calamari, fries, and smash burger. Calamari was lukewarm and not too flavorful. The smash burger was overcooked and small the bun was dry and on the stale side. The fries are crispy, though, and hot. Just really a mixed bag; hence, why I give it 3 stars. Look...because there's a $15 food and drink minimum ON TOP of the ticket, just get some drinks and order the basket of fries. The old fashioned is ok (where's the maraschino cherry?). The prices (WAY more than they should be) will clear you with two drinks and the fries for two easily. OLD FASHIONED - $14 (OK...?) FRIES - $8 (HUH!?) BURGER & FRIES - $21 (NO WAY!?) CALAMARI - $18 (WHAT!?) It's my fault for continuing to order food and drink but I was hungry. read more

What a fantastic evening! Denise Thimes and her supporting musicians were incredible. We had seats at the bar and were able to see perfectly. It's an intimate space and lovely. The acoustics are perfect. The food was also great. I had the Chicken Kyiv, which was light and delicious. We also had deviled eggs which we LOVED, and Toasted Ravioli. The cocktail menu is inventive, and the wine list is spot on. When the serving staff is having as much fun as this team was, you know it's got great owners. We will return! read more

I can't recommend this place enough! The food and drinks are phenomenal. Service is fantastic. Everyone complies with the mask regulations and keeps their distance. I regret having to post a negative review about Blue Strawberry. It's a small venue bar and restaurant that hosts a wide range of high-quality musical acts. In the past, we've thoroughly enjoyed the meals and thought the service was excellent. Apparently, that has changed. We attended their Valentine's Day concert at which Janet Evra and her band performed. The band was wonderful. The food and service during the Valentine's event, however, were extremely disappointing. Our favorite local Mexican restaurant has far better service than we experienced at Blue Strawberry. Our waiter ignored us all night long. Literally, he showed no interest in whether we were being served or not. After waiting an hour, we had to ask for our meal, which was served just as the band began to play so we were unable to fully enjoy either the music or the meal. Our entrees were overcooked when we finally received them. We had to ask for water repeatedly before they refilled our glassses. We were not served the dessert that was included in the meal price, even though we asked two different servers about it. The wait staff was either completely overwhelmed, or they just didn't care. The venue seemed confused that we expected to be served the full meal for which we paid. They did comp the single round of drinks that we were served. We would have had additional drinks, but no one bothered to ask if we wanted more, and we couldn't get the wait staff's attention to ask for another round. We probably won't go back to Blue Strawberry. It's a shame. read more

Music and quite amazing food! The food here is impressive! and a real menu, not just bar food. Find a music performance you follow or are intrigued by and get some seats. it's a small, say 100 seats, venue with a stocked bar and a kitchen just nailing the dishes. I had the pappardelle, with a sauce change to avoid dairy. Kitchen went with just a nice peppery olive oil. decent spaces, manageable for wheelchair, good views of the stage. I had never been, but booked because a favorite blues artist was finally going to be close. His big voice filled the room, but sound was on point, not to blow eardrums. that might be the act, or the venue, i'm not sure. I didn't have a drink, but it looked like you could get what you wanted. The place does Comedy, vocal, band, open mic nights and very easy to search the upcoming acts. Went to this hopping little joint on a Sunday night for a touring duo that I predict one day will be playing on major stages in theaters everywhere! Service was quick and easy before curtain call. We had drinks and dessert, but a full menu of offerings was available. Great for a date or special occasion, shows are said to be booked through April 2020. My first visit to this establishment as we were attending a live band concert with Will Robinson. I ordered the calamari and popcorn for an appetizer, a wedge salad, the salmon with asparagus and red potatoes for dinner. The popcorn was delicious it needed a little salt but tasty, the calamari was awesome and my meal was completely delicious. The only complaint I have is my beer wasn't cold and it was in the bottle, also the dressing for the salad wasn't the greatest. Venue and band were great but service was SLOW and terrible. I think we had the worst waiter there, ignored us completely. We would have had three more rounds of drinks - they left so much money on the table. And the food was meh. I begged to place a drink order and was told "I will be right back". 20+ minutes later I had to call him over a beg again. First round took 41 minutes to get!
