Blue strawberry is a special spot. It's locally owned and operated, and they feature local and regional talent. You will notice how special it is when you walk in and are greeted warmly, shown to your table and enjoy the vibe. The first three rows of tables the music can be rather loud, so if you feel like that would be an issue sit further back or towards the bar. While most of the focus is on the talent that they host, the food is absolutely incredible here. We got there early to enjoy a peaceful dinner before the show. My favorite item on the menu is the brussels sprouts appetizer. No one makes them like this. My dining companion ordered the chicken Kiev served with seasonal vegetables (squash with grilled pepper strips and onions), and roasted potatoes. I ordered the beet salad with an incredible horseradish dressing. I normally would never choose that, but the flavors complimented each other so well, and the horseradish dressing was not overpowering. Rather it balanced the sweetness of the roasted beets and the dried cranberries. We decided to get the chocolate cake for dessert, which is plenty for two people. It's so decadent and rich that we couldn't even finish it. They have a rather large cocktail menu and wine list. There's also beer and soft drinks available. Please note during shows there is a $15 minimum food/drink order person. The service is excellent! I highly recommend our server, Arissa (sp?), who took great care of us all night. There is street parking available so if you're disabled get there early to get a close spot. They have two unisex bathrooms with locks that don't always quite work though.

Enjoyed myself a bit more this time. Might've just been ME before. Enjoyed two tasty cocktails and shared some appetizers between 3 of us. The food was good again this time. The service was pretty good, though not the fastest. I enjoy the smallness of this venue. The sound was good and listening to Beth Bombara was enjoyable.

Overall it was ok. You come here for the amazing artists who do small, intimate shows. We came and saw Nicholas Brooks, renowned jazz musician and performer. The vibes are great for the performance, dim lights and cozy setting where the artist can walk around and talk with the audience. The food, however, was ok. We ordered the fried ravioli and calamari. Fried ravioli was very dry and the calamari was average. The service was a little slow (although it was during the show, so I understand the challenges of that). Overall, it's a great place to vibe and see excellent performers.

Quaint old building on the edge of Central West End. Went for a show. If you're going to get something off of the menu, get there early as it gets really busy the closer to show time. The servers were doing their best to get orders out before the performance started. Did mostly well. The menu is not large but includes appetizers, small plates, salads and entrees. Bar menu has usual offerings with a few unique cocktails. Show ran for about 1 1/2 hours on small stage. Ask the owner where the name comes from. Nice evening.

This is a hidden gem in the St Louis area!!! Awesome atmosphere and staffing!!! The food was decent, however the artist over shadowed everything else

Blue Strawberry is a cool spot! Came by for a show (Astrolove) but really liked the vibe of the place. Great spot to check out if you're looking for live music in STL. The service staff takes pride in working there--they were efficient and conversational. I ate before I arrived so I only grabbed an order of fries (which were great) & their Aviation cocktail. Great experience!

Michael McDermott is an amazing songwriter & musician!

First time at this venue. The sound was awesome! The service was exceptional & the food was really good. Perfect place to hear live music. Seeing Michael McDermott perform was fabulous!

I love, love, love this neighborhood piano bar and restaurant! Their food is absolutely delicious! There are weekly shows here from Broadway to Jazz to Blue Grass, local talent to Tony award winners, etc...quite the variety for every music taste. My absolute favorite is karaoke night on Fridays, and if you play an instrument or sing, there is also an open mic night on Sunday nights! The staff is great, the ambiance is wonderful, and it's the best place in the neighborhood for a night cap as well!

The place needs more servers. Had to wait 45 mins for drink. Also the seating does not allow for everyone to see the stage

Our server Lauren was very responsive and checked on us several times. Restaurant was not crowded and we were seated immediately upon entering the bar area. I've never been to a bad show here. It also helps that there are other things to do and eat in the area. You want a date night rock show? This area is perfect for that. I'm prompted to this review because this last show was the first time I've sit up top. Results may vary from venue to venue when it comes to sitting up top. I'm not sure but in the future, I might opt to sit up top for every show. Sometimes you run the risk of the sound bouncing off back walls and ceilings which can make things miserable if you're catching the sound from multiple directions. I'm happy to report the sound is contained in this venue. To begin, all 4 of these bands have perfected their live sound. That definitely helps in small and large venues alike. If any of your favorites roll through here, you owe it to yourself to attend. The only peeve I had this time was the merch. It's a bit odd how this venue handles merch. There were multiple locations for the merch inside the venue. Dayseeker merch was in the big room up front but my question... why not put all the acts in one room? they were spread out which also led to mass confusion with multiple long lines snaking and intersecting with each other. Aside from that, A+ venue. Will continue visiting in the future.

I would always call the box office to be sure of the layout before buying tickets. I saw Qveen Herby and Thot Squad (May 20th) and it was a safe vibe of all types of people. The check in process was smooth and someone helped me to my seat up stairs. I enjoyed the show but my accessible seat kind of sucked because once folks stood up I couldn't see. I asked some other people to help me be a mood killer and kindly ask others to sit down, but the venue should adjust those seats one more time. Also they should go back to just being a smoking building because everyone was vaping and the smell of smoke and marijuana was very pronounced! Either crack down hard or let the people smoke it up. Accessibility note: there is not enough parking so get an uber or pray to the parking goddesses. There is stepless entry but if your seat is upstairs, you will need a proper staff member to key in the elevator for you. I waited over 10 minutes for assistance (they bought me a drink tomorrow ease that soreness). Bring headphones or ear plugs as the whole suite booms! Don't be afraid to tell folks down in front because you cannot see.

The staff... wow.. another story.. Outside bar had an AMAZING waitress, Jess, that truely made our nights and was so awesome and fun. Jess deserves a raise and if you go to Venice cafe avoid literally any bar tender except for Jess. The old lady bar tender on inside bar took two extra dollars from me (I guess thinking I wasn't gonna tip? ) despite me leaving three on the bar and me pointing it out to her. Then a very very large brown haired curly bearded man completely ignored me at the bar, at like 4pm it was me standing directly in front of the bar by myself while he had co convos and gave bar backs shots. I couldn't have made this up.. I couldn't think of anything to even say to address that wasnt not kind or out of pocket so I left. It was an unreal experience and from what I've heard about management just from patrons there they wouldn't care anyway, it was alienating and gross behavior. Venice cafe had a good reputation and it was on my list forever, but I've already shared with more of my groups that we can go somewhere else and be treated much better. I'd second guess this option unless Jess is working outside in the bar.
