After a very frustrating experience with another roofing company in trying to get a quote to replace my roof, I called BlueSky Roofing on the recommendation of my neighbor. I don't know much about roofs and everyone who does seems to have a differing opinion, Called several companies for quotes and got low estimates from some companies that never personally came by and looked at it (which seemed like a huge red flag) and other companies who seemed to think a standard 2-flat roof would require $80,000 minimum to resurface. Luckily a neighbor recommended Blue Sky and I couldn't be happier with the results. They put on a new flat roof, re-shingled the front porch, Tuck pointed, repaired parapets and even relined and repaired my chimney over the course of 5 days and every day left the yard and property cleaner that when they arrived. I had a frustrating experience with a prior repair with this company in that I was unable to communicate with the crew that showed up to my house (on a Saturday). They did not speak any English and had not visited my property before. When some confusion came up, I tried contacting the owner but got no answer. Everything turned out to be ok, but I didn't even learn what work was done until the owner contacted me the following week. Recently I wanted to schedule them to do a few more gutter repairs. I patiently waited over 3 weeks to get on their schedule. When they scheduled me for a Saturday again, I asked Chris if he would be there or if someone in the crew that was coming spoke English. He said he did not work on Saturdays, and then canceled the job altogether. All I was asking for was to be able to communicate with the people working at my house... I didn't realize that this was offensive. If you get scheduled for a Saturday .. beware .. you're job has zero priority for them. read more

Had a new roof on main building and garage installed in 2015. Also had a new gutter installed. Besides the new gutter on the east side of the property they knocked down the west side gutter while installing the roof. They did not remove the gutters prior to installation of the roof. Anyhow, they had to replace that gutter as well. They also broke my window while knocking down the gutter during installation, and they left a hole in the roof around the chimney which they had to come back and repair. They used dark sealant on the nails for the flashing which had to be lifted to install the roof. The home is very light colored so that looked way off. They also covered my flowers with a tarp and then dropped their tools on the tarp. And, as another reviewer said, no one on the crew spoke English. They also had a saw which kept dropping my 20 amp breaker. Nothing else on that line either. They did some siding work on the front of the house, which I admit did make the property look much better. However, a piece of the siding where they did the work came loose 9 months later, and they charged me $150 to come back and put a nail in it. December 2018 the new gutter on the east side of the property fell off. It never was right. It pointed upward, had the wrong hangers etc. It cost me $1,650 for a gutter to replace the three year old gutter, and now you can see it has been hung properly. Also, the gutter on the west side of house leaks at the elbow, and has been, since there is no drop outlet. They just made flaps and hung the elbow from that. Also, when replacing the gutter on that side they had the downspout letting out onto the roof. We had to call them back to put it back like it was letting out into the tower gutter. We will fix that drop outlet ourselves this year. If you have to keep calling a company back to fix their mistakes and they get mad that you do, they are just a bad company. Cheap labor, cut costs on materials, not installed per manufacturer specs, and really hoping the roof holds up. Never going to use them again, and I apologize to anyone I may have recommended them to. read more

I absolutely recommend Blue Sky! We are a newer construction, five unit building and had water seeping into one of the units from the roof. Such dread. We began the search for bids and they are a diamond in the rough compared to other roofing companies. They completed the roof portion in the fall and returned in the spring to complete the scope with building a deck. Building a better deck than the builder. I had a roof leak above a bay window on a 3 flat in Chicago that other roofers couldn't fix. The first roofer failed to fix it after two attempts. I then tried a big name roofer to fix a few other maintenance issues, and replace the roof above the bay windows. They showed up, did the maintenance repairs, but didn't replace the roof; claiming they couldn't reach it with their ladder. Finally, I had Blue Sky Roofing come out. They looked at the leaks and said the issue wasn't with the roof, but the parapet wall above the roof. They redid the caps on the parapet wall with aluminum flashing below the cap stones, and it hasn't leaked since! I would definitely hire Blue Sky Roofing again. read more

We had Chris and his team rebuild our back deck and railings using composite materials in September. We felt his estimate was on target with what we had expected for what we wanted. Some estimates we got were outrageous (and came with attitude), others were low but the work product didn't look so great. Chris was closer to where we thought it should be, he had a great attitude, and a previous review's photos sold us on the workmanship. He was very responsive and quick to set up a time to estimate, was on time, and answered all of our questions. His team was on time and kept the work site very neat and tidied up every evening. When they were done, it was like they had never been there except for the new deck. They were done in a week and came back immediately the following day when I emailed about a few corrections to be made. I was impressed they came back so quickly, no questions asked and zero hassle about it. Side note - we figured out that Crafty Beaver has all the samples to look at for various composite materials and options, which can be hard to decide by only looking online. Chris gave us suggestions, including budget suggestions which was appreciated, but ultimately choosing materials, style, and color was on us.
