Worst company of all time. We hired them to maintain our pool and they would send a guy to the house, take a photo and send an email saying they'd serviced the pool, but somehow the pool got worse and worse, even immediately after they left. They did not vacuum, apparently did not use proper chemicals, and then tried to charge us over $1K to fix the mess. We did not approve that, but they showed up and drained the pool anyway, leaving algae to dry, harden, and stain the pool walls. Then sent us a bill! Needless to say, avoid at all costs. read more

Not a happy customer. Blue Science Pools in the Colony, TX resurfaced my pool and installed a new computer board and light box a little over a year ago (Jan 2019). Did a good job and good customer service. In April/May 2020. Scheduled an appointment to see why my spa wasn't getting much pressure since we had not used it since the resurface. Chris said the pipes coming into the spa had moved and he would turn it over to the construction department. Also had him check a water leak in pump. Said it could be a seal needs to be replaced or a crack in the motor. Scheduled a repair. On the morning of the day they were supposed to come out Chris called to get my credit card info, which I thought was weird, since I did have to do that when I spent over $12,000.00 the year before. Chris reaffirmed someone would come out that day. No show and no call. Checked my credit card account and they had pre-charged the service. So a charge for service not completed. Called after hours leaving voice mail asking that I be called immediately. Wanda called next morning apologizing and said someone would be out that day. I told her to save the trip that we weren't doing business and to credit my card. She said she would take care of it. Even sent an email to the employee, Andrew Kirmse that worked with me on the pool resurface to remind Wanda to credit may account. So this is the next day and I sent a reminder through their request for service on the web site to credit my card ASAP. No response so far and no credit. It appears from the other reviews as well as employee reviews that I have read, that this company has and is continuing to go down hill. I would not recommend them for any service. read more

Terrible service. Unresponsive. Time wasting. October 2019 we started using them for pool service. First 2 visits were good. We purchased a new heater and remote control for approx $5,000. So far so good. Then the pool maintenance person stopped showing up. We called. No one ever showed up. Pool turned green with algae. We switched to a new & dependable service. May 2020. Heater and remote stop working. I called them. They said the product does not have any warranty!! I challenged that and the customer service rep said he'd have someone else call or he could send out a tech for $149 plus parts. I asked for a call from someone else. No call ever came. I called Pentair. They said the product carried a 12 month warranty. I wrote a scathing review on the Blue Science site. Within 30 minutes I got an email asking me to call them. I did. 3 times. Voice mail everytime. No return call. Meanwhile, I have a $5,000 product that is worthless at this point. Blue Science has horrid customer service. Pentair is not far behind. read more

Absolutely horrible pool service. Showed up TWO weeks late to drain and powerwash my pool, then cleaned the filter and failed to prime the pump correctly leading to the water overheating in the pump and rupturing the PVC pipes, which sprayed water all over my pool house ruining about $300 worth of stuff. When i told them about it they charged me $149 to come out and fix what they screwed up. They never adjusted the chemicals correctly nor cleaned the pool after i refilled it and charged me for the service anyway. The pool had algae in it 3 days after they supposedly "adjusted the chems", and despite several calls to them, they never showed back up to clean the pool and get rid of the algae. I had to do chargebacks b/c they kept charging me for not servicing anything. Horrible company so stay away from them!!! read more

Our pool hasn't had a stable chemical reading since day 1. We are now about 8 months into service with Blue Science. Not sure who they are hiring but apparently they do not know what they are doing. Wow! I am astonished to see the negative reviews on here. We just moved to Prosper and started using Blue Science for our pool service because the prior owner used them and recommended them. We had a couple issues come up Christmas Eve and our assigned rep not only walked us through what to do on Christmas Eve but was out here first thing on 12/26. No added charges above our standard weekly. I've been extremely impressed with their knowledge and professionalism. We haven't required any type of construction on our pool but if you're in need of a pool service provider, hands down I'd go with them. read more

So, I bought my first home here in Texas and I just had to have a pool. The first company...their communication was pretty bad. So, I looked for another company...only to run into a hustling group of people. They came out and said I needed to drain my entire pool...the plaster on was hollow and needs to be redone...over $15k to replace my pool. The owner previous to me was very interested in their comments, since he showed me the invoice from getting the pool replastered just 5 yrs ago when he put up the new fence. This company said they would not service my pool unless I paid to replace my pool with them. Why do companies have to hustle everyone? ...its stealing!! False advertisements. We have used Blue Science for almost 4 years now. We have surely had our ups and downs and its not always the best cleaning but, mostly its done well. They have tons of turnover so I'm not always sure who I'm going to get or what level of skill they will have. However, we have had consistency with our regional manager, Tim. If our pool isn't clean or there is an issue, Tim corrects it. Not in a week, not in a day, Tim corrects it immediately. We recently had a death in the family and reached out to Tim to ask if our tech could come early, 30 minutes later the tech was at our door. I cannot express how important this level of service means to me and my family. We will be Blue Science customers as long as Tim is our rep. read more

Worst cleaning pool company. I hired them by the phone and gave a price for the service. first payment they charged me $350 instead of 55 which was the price they gave me by phone. Next visit they came in on the wrong day i didn't let them clean my pool and later sent me an email with obviously fake pictures of my pool being clean. When I told them not to do it that day they charged me for the cleaning and sent fake pictures of the job!!!! I can't believe it. Don't waste your money on this pool company, their turnover rate is unbelievable. Half the time they don't even do what they're supposed to do vacuum, scrub sides, skim pool. After I chose to go with a different pool company my chlorine levels in my pool were over 27 PPM. At no point was I told that the pool was not safe to swim in as a result end up getting chlorine burns. It's unbelievable that their ratings are so good. I have not use them for two months nor have I added any chlorine to my pool and my chlorine levels are just now getting to a reasonable level (8PPM) they come out and charge you 140+ dollars to clean filters that don't even need to be clean every three months. When I signed up, they were supposed to come out every six months, but shows every three and charged me. They also charge (chemical surcharge) and claimants due to shortage of chlorine, which is a lie. Don't waste your money using these people. read more

I called to cancel it before the next service, but they want me accept 1 month free service to try if their labor can doing their job right, they promised NO CHARGE before I accept it, I did not take their advance have full month free service and canceled this service but I still received the bill, and they have so many excuse to not cancel this bill and want me to pay for it. Their weekly service is great! Efficient, thorough, professional. Construction is the WORST. I went through the process of getting a bid to have 2 simple tiles replaced on my spa. The project manager suggested redoing all the loose tile on the spa wall. Two men showed up, had absolutely NO idea what the job scope was. Emptied half my pool, lost a trip lever on my timing box, sat there for an hour waiting to hear from their boss and then left. No repair, no follow up ... nothing. We called Blue Science Pools in June 2022, our pool service began in July. They gave a great sales pitch but did not deliver. We were told we would be assigned a project manager and they would come out and access our pool. Well, our assigned project manger, Jeremy Stryker never showed up and lwhen I called the company I was given Jason personal number, Jason informed we that he sent his "best guy". We made it very clear that we needed pool cleaning services after 2 p.m on Thursday or anytime Friday afternoon, which they agreed to. We also explained to them that we do not leave our gate open, because of our City's strick rules regarding pool safety. Well for the entire month of July we had pool cleaners showing up at 7 am on Thursday, 7 am on Friday, each time they missed us and had to come back at the time we had orginally communicated. After speaking to Jeremy three times, he assured me that the pool cleaners would be here as I had requested. Well, they showed up again today at 7:11. We are feed up with this pool company and have cancelled our service, they have a serious communication problem. To top it off the guy who cleaned our pool last week tried to take short cuts and didn't brush the sides of the pool, I watched him on our camera. When my husband comforted him he admitted he didn't, and brushed the pool. Told us that was his last day working for Blue Science Pools. Do not use this company!!!! read more

Very unorganized and unprofessional. I called them for weekly pool service. Everything went smoothly, I made payment and was scheduled immediately. They were a no show on the scheduled day. I reached out the assigned field manager and he apologized and said one of his guys called out. The office rescheduled for the following day. Long story short field manager calls and said he couldn't find my address on google maps. Bull. I send him directions. An hour later I get a call from the office stating they no longer service my area. So you only realize this on the day your supposed to show for a service? How about you check this before you commit to something. If they can't even figure out their service area I can only imagine what the quality of their work would be. If I could, I would give this company a negative rating. After the winter storms, they price gouged the mess out of me. When I received my bill, they charged me for plumbing cost, installation cost, and then a plumbing fee for each individual check valve they replaced. I thought it was an error with billing but they proceeded to tell me that that's how they bill. So for each item, I was literally charged 3 separate fees to install it and they are ok with that. $1900 for 30 min worth of work. Seriously! Terrible company. read more

BUYER BEWARE. I'm not sure why this is the name listed of the company but it is Blue Science Pools for the Austin Area. Here is way too much info, but I have to keep good records because of running a business and doing my property management: if you're not interested in reading all this, ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW IS... They were very rarely able to complete the contracted maintenance without having to come back a second time. They are heavily understaffed. I have had to work very hard in the three months I had service with them to get the basic maintenance done. My experience with Blue Science (Austin Neighborhood Pool Service) From the beginning BS has not been able to handle the work load. When I first called I was told it would be $160 a month. It isn't. It's $40/week which means an extra $40 every other month. Thursday August 1 No vacuum. No brushing. Lots of algae left on the walls. August 8 The algae was starting to really build so badly on the walls. I had to take photos and send them to the field manager, Thomas. He never responded. BS showed up to do the service and still left all the algae growing on the walls. I texted the field manager. He wouldn't respond so I had to email photos and call BS directly. They sent the field manager who said they hadn't been doing it because "rocks and pools don't mix well." I don't have any rocks. It's concrete and I never had a problem doing it myself or with the pool company that I used for the previous 5 years. He did take care of it, but I already had to give a partial refund to my bed and breakfast guests. Thursday, August 22 No show/ no call Saturday, August 24 Service but did not vacuum or brush. I called to see if they were coming back to finish. The woman who answered the phone said they would be coming back. Tuesday, August 27 finally came back to finish the August 22 service Thursday, Sept 12 My pool was serviced, but when I got home the hot tub was completely drained and the motor was running dry! Thursday Oct 10 Carson could not come again today, but he did text me. He told me he would be here Friday before my guests checked in at 12:00pm. Oct. 11 12:30pm I texted Carson to see if he was still coming. He said they gave my address to someone else. Peter texted and said he wasn't gonna be able to make it again today and could he come Friday. This time I said no bc I had guests checking in so I needed my scheduled service. He showed up, didn't vacuum, didn't empty the baskets and the pool cleaner was left floating open in the pool with no bag. The bag was no where to be found. He even sent an email with a photo of it floating in the pool open without a bag. It also showed all the leaves on the bottom to show it wasn't vacuumed. Worst part the motor was running dry for 6 hrs! It was so hot when I got home. I texted Peter pictures and asked what happened. No response. Filter pressure at or around 30! Oct. 12 10:00am I texted Peter to see if he was coming to finish. He said probably not. He was in a different part of the city. I asked if he knew what happened to the bag. No response I texted the field manager. He told me he talked to Peter and the bag was somehow ripped and that they would replace it on Monday. I asked if the cleaning would be finished and he said someone would be there to finish today. Someone came to finish, but the filter pressure was still at 30! Monday, October 14 No show/ no call Tuesday, October 15 I texted the field manager and told him no one showed to replace the bag. He said it was special ordered and he would be there today and replace it or early tomorrow,Wednesday. Wednesday, October 16 No show/ no call The filter pressure has been at 30 for so many weeks that I took it apart and replaced the filters myself. It's a very small pool, but cannot function at that pressure for that long. Thursday, October 17 No show/ no call about the bag. I texted the field manager. No response. Carson said he would not be able to make it today again. I texted the field manager to see if we needed to change days because more often than not they are not able to do it on the scheduled Thursdays. No response Friday, October 18 Carson came and did service as contracted. He told me that Thomas, the field manager had the bag. 11:40am I texted Thomas and asked if he would be bringing the bag because the pool has been running over a week without the cleaner. No response 3:45pm Texted again. No response After sending this email, they did contact me and offer me two free weeks of service if I stayed with them, but they had not hired any new people or provided better/faster equipment for their employees so there's no way anything would be different. I turned it down and was offered no other compensation for the work that I've had to put in. They did return the $40 that I had prepaid for the next weeks scheduled service. read more

Worst business practices of any company I have ever dealt with. They originally quoted me $150 for monthly pool cleaning. And they did. For a couple months. Magically, it went up to $182, without ever getting permission or discussion. A tech told me he could fix my vac pump for about $25. The office called and quoted me almost $1k for a new pump and labor. Another tech came out and said it was an easy fix-just a capacitor. Office again said $1k. They up-charged the pump cost by over $100 what I can get online. Plus $400 service for unscrewing and screwing in some bolts. I told them no. They keep your card on file and use it indiscriminately. They charged me $47 for a month that had an extra week! That wasn't the deal! They sent an invoice a week later. They started charging an extra $28 a month for the cost of chemicals. I had to call to find out what this charge was. I told two different techs my pool was developing algae. One moron told me it was pollen. Pollen! Growing green on the sides of my pool! I finally looked in my skimmer for chorine tabs on day of service and there weren't any!!! None! No wonder my pool was green. They did come and fix it. I asked for a refund for the "extra" cost of chemicals, since I didn't get any chemicals at all. No dice. They had my card on file and were using it like their daddy's bank. I finally called to cancel last month on June 1. The service manager told me they had already charged my card for that month. I believed him. Why would he lie? HE LIED! The charge went through on 7/5. I am so done with this company. They have bad business practices bordering on illegal and their service isn't good. I hired them just two weeks ago. First week they came on a Monday to see the pool, did a filter clean and check chemicals. That Friday was my first official clean. Today was my second. In the time i've already had to call about algae (they didn't even return my call - I had to chase them down), the joint from the main pipe into the filter canister that they had cleaned had been shifted and is leaking (which Josh says he couldn't have done even though it wasn't shifted and leaking before he took it apart), and today they left the O ring out of joint in the in-line chlorinator cap so that was leaking when I came home. Completely incompetent. They have good reviews on other sites and I really don't know how.. Update- they also overcharged me for one visit and I can't get them to refund. Talked to a "manager" last week who said she would put the refund through but it never happened. Spoke with someone today who said he would get it done. We will see. 4 strikes was enough for me to cancel my service after only 2 weeks! Strike 1: missed my first service and never got me on the schedule until I followed up (not a big deal). Strike 2: at the first service, they ALMOST put salt bags in my pool that is not a salt water pool (I'm now concerned). Strike 3: at the second service, they put 2 bags of salt in my pool! I asked for them to cover the cost of draining and refilling the pool and got a story how it's more dangerous to drain and fill a pool than leave the salt in the system (I'm very upset now). Strike 4: when my filter was cleaned it was done in my rock garden and just left there (see pic). It left a nasty mud like pile in my rocks. VERY disappointed with their service and lack of desire to make things right. I hired Blue Science Pools for weekly service & to repair or replace a pool pump. A repairman to came out for the repair/install ($149 service call fee) & left after 10 minutes & taking photos of my equipiment. Immediately Adam Carruth, repair manager, called me and said he would send a quote for a new pump; after some negotiations, a price was agreed upon for a new pump ($2025) & a licensed electrician to install it ($454). The pump was installed on Friday, stopped working on Saturday, repaired on Monday, stopped working on Tuesday and adjusted on Thursday. Adam said the issue was the new pump was tripping the breaker within my existing timer box. The solution is to wire the new pump into a junction box; not sure why this was not done initially when the new pump was installed- new quote of $531. I paid for a new pump to be professionally installed & not to have cut corners by wiring it into an old piece of equipment when it only required a $30 junction box & now, I am being double charge to fix their oversight. read more

I was charged $149 by Blue Science Pools to come and look at a few leaks I had with my pool equipment. I said OK to all the recommendations which was going to cost between $4-5k so not a minor upgrade in pool equipment. I was told they were going to send me a quote which I never received. I called and left a message and no one returned my call. So for about 5 minute consultation they made $149 bucks, not bad. I used Anthony's pool repair service and did some repairs myself for half of what Blue Science was going to charge me. Not impressed with this company because there's more science in customer care than I received from them. read more

** STAY AWAY FROM BLUE SCIENCE** I at first really liked blue science pools, I had the tech I had for over a year almost three years ago and he was great. However, after he left the company they had a lot of turnover and the customer service become awful. I had numerous communications with supervisors and area managers as the pool simply wasn't being properly cared for and treated. My home is equipped with cameras and I could see that their numerous random techs that were usually only consistent for a month or so would only come for about 5-7 minutes each week and for a pool and spa my size was totally inadequate and the pool walls and water quality showed by their lack of caring. The final straw after over a year of many second chances is when they wanted to replace my chlorinator and gave me an estimate. I did not have them do the work because I had AHS home warranty. When AHS came out they wouldn't do any work because they stated the chlorinator was working perfectly fine, but that the filter was dirty and the pressure was too high and that was the problem. Blue Science was the company that had been cleaning my filter at least quarterly for almost 2.5 years and my pool and spa were only about three years. When I complained to Blue Science that they cost me a warranty fee and it wasn't the chlorinator they offered and gave me a "free filter cleaning" at the value of around $100 and did the cleaning which they should have done to begin with, but a week later they called and said I needed to replace a clamp on the filter at a cost of over $350 dollars for the part and installation. I looked at it and it was stripper and beat up, but they are the only ones that have ever touched it and their techs destroyed it - even worse, it was only a $144 dollar part and their is no installation - its a clamp, you pop on and off when you clean the filter. I fired Blue Science at this point - they are deceptive and have very poor business practices and simply do not care because they are a large company and customers are just a number and where they screw up, they try to cover "free" work with fraudulent work orders on items that either are not broken or broken by them at ridiculous high and far beyond market rates. Find a smaller company that cares and is not deceptive - blue science is awful!!!! read more

I am as confused as who Owens this company and where they are located as their charging practices. I was charge $149.00 twice. I have been having this billing problem with this company since the beginning of our transactions. I complained about what I was told that the service charge ($149.00)would cover. I was then told they thought I was one of their service costumers and that would make a difference, what difference I do not know. I was further told they would not charge me full prices for a further visit. There were so many people involved in this process there is no wonder this is so confusing. I never OK ed a charge of $149.00 on 6/24/2019, and that charged needs to be credited to my American Express. I was told this could not be done. The charging of services for this company borderlines on criminal.The first time a tech came out he found a problem that was not in his area. When I called the company; this is when all these promises were made then denied. This service company cannot be trusted and future costumers need to be made aware. Three trips were made to my house. The first and second were 20 minutes each at best the third was about 30 minutes and that one was to install the part. The part was priced at $150. After complaining about their charging practices $90 was reduced from my bill (the second $149 I was unaware at the time). the final cost for this amount of work was $559.30. The absolute worst! I pay them $200 a month to keep my pool clean and safe yet it's always rimmed with algae and I'm spending tons of my own time and money brushing the walls, netting and adding chemicals to correct what they cannot do. Twice now they've left me days before a holiday with a clogged filter, a green unsafe pool and no pressure. They left my filter pump cap off once and then left. By the time I found it my pump had been running dry for over an hour and the water was steaming out the top it was so hot. Could've cost me $1000 if it broke and I guarantee they wouldn't have owned up to it or fixed it. They are quick to respond but they don't fix the problem. Most of their staff is unprofessional and does nothing more than a "check the box" job. I had a tech mark my service card as checked pool sweep function when the sweep was broken and never did anything about it. Also had my card checked as chlorine tabs added and my floats were empty. This company deserves 0 stars. I have used them for 10 months now for their weekly pool maintenance. I've finally had enough of paying for terrible service. They take your money and don't perform services 100% like you pay for. They have created algee to grow multiple times bc they don't put salt in my pool on a regular bases even though I pay them to. The techs write down a normal level on their sheets even though it's wrong. My system tells me the level and each time I took water in somewhere else to have it checked only to confirm my system was right, not Blue Science. I had to call in each time to addresses the issue. Yes, they would come put salt in my pool but I should never have to call and request it bc I pay for it weekly. When I canceled services last week they didn't refund my last cleaning I had already paid for but said that would still come and do it this last time. They never showed up!
