Had a very nice dinner here tonight. Garden seating added to the ambiance of the night. Fried chicken for the win! Petrole Sole was good...for us the fried chicken was so delish. Chopped salad was shared as a starter. Super friendly and attentive service. Great timing... no rushing to move the table along which we so appreciated. Blue Plate is an establishment we will return to over and over again.

Although the food menu seems relatively scarce, the food has some unique flavor combinations. They have some non-rotating menu items that are the go-to if it is the first time. I visited the restaurant during their restaurant week and happy hour. My party ordered mostly appetizers for happy hour, but also got an order of the prix fixed menu for restaurant week. Everything we ordered tasted great.

nice place in the neighborhood. We came for happy hour. I want to try coming for dinner. we got the charred octopus and the raclette cheese and mortadella. The key lime pie was actually insane. I should just come here for our it's ridiculous. the octopus was nice and not too chewy. loved the cheese and bread. I think I could drink the cheese. Loved the wine I got and happy hour prices even better.

We've had Blue Plate on our "to try" list for quite a few years and finally decided to stop by for dinner. I'm so glad we did! The food was on point! The interesting thing is we actually enjoyed the appetizers even more than the mains. And yes, we did order the vaunted fried chicken; it was worth having once. The meat itself was juicy and it had a very hard crispy layer, but I felt maybe it needed a touch more seasoning. The ambience reminds me of nice southern food restaurants I've been to in Georgia and the Carolinas. Service was great! We were a bit late for our reservation but they sat us in an even better area than we reserved. We literally booked our next visit before we asked for the check. That's how much we liked it. Give it a try!

Definitely a hidden gem of Bernal Heights! If you're looking for a good plate of fried chicken or a slice of meat loaf that will transport you to your childhood, Blue Plate is the comfort kitchen you've been looking for. Blue Plate is nestled along the bustling Mission St, sandwiched in between a row of many tasty eateries. The service is amazing here, the menu is extensive and will satisfy any southern or comfort food cravings you have, and the ambiance is laidback yet romantic. This place is perfect for a romantic date or a special occasion with friends!

The whole experience at The Blue Plate was truly magical--hands down the best fine dining experience I've ever had. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the intimate ambiance and the exceptional, gold-standard service. The staff made us feel so welcomed and cared for--it really elevated the entire night. The food was absolutely delicious. Every single plate was full of flavor and beautifully prepared. My personal favorites were the linguine and clams and the fried chicken--both were cooked to perfection. I also have to mention the brochette, which was amazing! This is a 5-star dining experience through and through, and I'm already looking forward to coming back. If you're looking for a spot that nails food, service, and atmosphere all at once--The Blue Plate is it.

This is the spot! Blue Plate's garden ambiance is truly a gem in Bernal. The service is great and the food is comfy yet sophisticated. They also have a great happy hour that I need to try next time.

Had an amazing dinner here last night with my family. Amazing food, great ambience, the whole deal. Highly recommended.

I'm finally reminded that the food is superb, and it's one of the few places in San Francisco that has outdoor seating, which is a delight. Oh, and save room for dessert.

    The salad dressing is excellent!

Service is great, and I loved the salad and chicken. But it's all about the garden for me! Funky, green, beautiful and warm. It's a lovely place to have dinner.

My husband picked Blue Plate as a surprise for my birthday, knowing I would enjoy their high-quality comfort food. We lucked out that they were participating in SF Restaurant Week -- $45 for a three-course dinner. Wine pairing for $27. We enjoyed our meals, but found the service spotty. The host did not inquire if we were celebrating anything special, nor did our server. No biggie. We certainly didn't want anyone singing table side! But the staff didn't show much interest after taking our orders. Our entrees arrived before they replaced the cutlery (which had been cleared after our appetizer course), leaving us stranded for nearly 10 minutes. It was impossible to get anyone's attention. Also, our server offered to bring more wine BEFORE the second course, but it didn't arrive until we were halfway finished. They did not offer coffee or tea with dessert. We felt they had given up on us! And although it's no longer uncommon, we were rankled by the 3.5% surcharge to use a credit card. WHO carries that kinda cash around after Covid?!? In summary: We loved our food, but felt a bit neglected throughout the meal.

Came here for their happy hour to enjoy a meal on the lighter side, after the restaurant came highly recommended to me by a friend. Located in the Mission district, it's got a cozy, intimate yet hip vibe. We ordered the Little Gems and Peaches salad, Blistered Shisito Peppers, and a Burrata/Tomato dish with beans. Everything was excellent with interesting flavors. Service was friendly and prompt. I would love to come back and try more of their menu!

Bummer we came back after a couple years and the food is similar but the service model has definitely fallen off. So uncoordinated, curt and ultimately made for a disappointing overall experience. Enjoyed the deviled eggs. octopus and burrata. Ordered the meatloaf, steak and 2 fried chickens. Got the meatloaf. A couple of minutes later the steak and a fried chicken... then an awkward 5 or so minutes later we got the other fried chicken with a lame halfhearted apology. Then, it was obviously right out the fryer so I would up burning the roof of my mouth off. Dessert was poor. Key like pie crust was like 1/2" thick making for a clunky sandy eating experience. Brownie sundae had like 4 little bits of brownie. Disappointing. About half way through the meal our somewhat nice server was replaced with a guy who's officious, loud and functional approach seemed like something out of the military. It was like they forgot they were running a service business. When you pay $300 for 4 people with only 1 alcoholic beverage, you expect to feel welcome, treated like a guest. Not at Blue Plate. It's like an unorganized factory for hit or miss food.

Pets are not allowed. There is a back garden area, but the only way into the garden is thru the restaurant, so I can understand why they would be a no-no.

Located in the legendary Mission District of San Francisco, this wine bar is a great spot to catch up with friends and enjoy small bites and yummy crafted cocktails. Their decor is very chic and I especially loved all of the hardware, glasses, tables, and benches. This place was styled by a great design artist. Even though the place was pretty packed and can be kind of noisy, I still felt very calm amongst all the healthy plants and loved the sophisticated 70s inspired glassware. Another great feature of this place is that you can buy most of the plants because they have some for sale so after a couple of cocktails, I was ready to redecorate my whole house with all the plants. I ordered a yummy Rose blend that was super crisp. Also enjoyed the Truffle Fungi! A delicious Shiitake and oyster mushrooms with parmesan and arugula on toasted bread. Their Spanish inspired potatoes were delicious with their dipping sauce. They have lots of gatherings there and DJ sets on the weekends. Lastly, a photographer would die to take pictures here. There is no bad shot as the design artist made sure every section of this cute wine bar was picture perfect. Loved all my photos and videos. I look forward to returning to this exquisite wine bar!

The vibe is artsy, warm, a little dark, and overall a cool place to mingle. The bathrooms and tables were kept clean. I liked it that the DJ was live mixing. Getting a drink was fast and easy. The high top tables were a bit wobbly, so we spilled half a drink on there. The drinks are strong. I recommend going upstairs to sit instead if you want to hear your friends better. The tables are bigger up there too. The rooftop was closed off but I'd like to check it out sometime.

This wine bar is hidden from plain view and tucked away in the Excelsior/Outer Mission. Some friends and I discovered this little gem while looking for a place to have a nightcap. Sippin' Wine Bar is located on the second floor of the Bottoms Up Bar, but the vibe is totally different. Not sure if the two bars are actually affiliated, but they are like night and day. The stairs leading up to the bar are lit up and the interior of the bar is just absolutely gorgeous! It's spacious and low lit with an extremely sexy ambience. The decor is just out of this world! They have the cutest tables and sofas. The lamps and artwork are very unique but visually appealing, and the tables are set with candles that create a very sensual vibe. There's a small but adorable little patio where you can relax and get some air. The interior designer deserves a pat on the back AND a few glasses of wine (wink wink). Speaking of wine, they have tons and tons of it! Their selection is extensive and they make it really obvious with all of their lovely wine bottles that are on display. I really enjoyed their Angeline Pinot Noir as well as the Kungfu Girl Riesling. They serve food here as well. We had just come from dinner, but a few of us who shall remain nameless (cough cough) were still hangry and ordered garlic noodles, garlic fries, and tater tots. Yep, somebody's breath was stankin' but it wasn't mine! Although I didn't try any of the food, It smelled wonderful. There was no food left behind, so I'm assuming that it was delicious! The owner Shirley was fantastic! She happily hosted our group and let us sample several different wines from her collection. She mingled with us as well and talked about the business. The bar is still relatively new and opened a little over 2 years ago, so she is still trying to generate more business. I'm hoping that more people will frequent this place because I really enjoyed it and would love to see it stick around. So glad we stumbled upon this spot, and I'm looking forward to many more future visits.
