This Friday's visit to Broken Arrow had my son and I targeting the Blue Plate Cafe at the corner of 71st and Elm (Same location as Pho 71 and Lima Peruvian). He runs more to the tame side of food, so this was a logical choice for us. TLDR: good food, reasonable prices and really nice people. Got there around 12:45, and were seated immediately. We got menus and ordered drinks and set about making choices. My son went with the chicken and waffles, hashbrowns instead of eggs, since he doesn't eat eggs. I went with my usual diner test, the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, cream gravy and green beans. The inside is clean, neat and cheery. Staff were busy but attentive. Food arrived quickly and was piping hot. Son's chicken and waffles were outstanding, according to him. Chicken not dry and waffles crisp on the outside and tender inside. Not sure what syrup they use, but he commented that it had almost a cinnamon flavor that he loved. The dish comes with a berry compote type dip that was quite good. Hashbrowns were perfect. Crispy on the outside and steamy soft inside. My CFS was one of the better ones I've had. Not the best, but certainly an 8/10 on all points. Plenty thick enough, nearly 1/2" and well breaded. Crust to meat ratio was good too, with only a little pullback on the meat. Brust was flavorful and not at all soggy. Potatoes are scratch made, and the gravy was both flavorful and plentiful. Green beans were slow cooked and once I salted them, they were great. CFS could have been a little more tender, as some parts definitely needed a knife to cut, but overall, a really good effort. It also came with a respectable side salad that I enjoyed a lot. Prices are reasonable, service is great and the atmosphere is typical diner, without being a greasy spoon, not that that's a bad thing at all. My part of the order ran to $18 and change with an iced tea, and for what I got, that's not bad at all. read more

The American diner and breakfast eateries are cornerstones to Oklahoma. As enjoyable as an up-scale breakfast experience can be, I often prefer to keep my brunch experience to be high in quality and low in price. Thankfully, Tulsa is still home to many straightforward, homestyle establishments such as Blue Plate Café. I had the pleasure of trying BPC for the first time on July 15th (2025) and would proudly refer anyone there based on my experience. On this day, I had a work training nearby and had skipped breakfast. After considering a few places, I am grateful that I decided on Blue Coast Café. I arrived around noon to a decently filled restaurant. The entrance puts you face to face with a host behind the counter. The space was efficiently sized and not bursting with ambiance but I found the simplicity pleasing, reminiscent of a classic straightforward diner. There are framed pictures and fixtures alongside both the bright red and pale blue walls providing guests with a sense of the countryside. Most of the seating is tables with booths along the wall. The host invited me to sit wherever so I sat almost exactly in the middle of the restaurant since about every other table was empty. My server's name was Heather, 1 of 2 waitresses at the time. She gave me a tall 5-page menu that left me very impressed. Not only are there plenty of food options (breakfast choices, lunch options and everything in between) but the physical menu itself was well designed: large pages, balanced wording, simple colors and very easy to navigate. Mostly everything on the menu seemed good (perhaps because I was hungry) but I ordered a hot tea and Smoked Sausage Skillet and swapped the B&G/Toast/pancake for french toast. There was only tea choice (Lipton, Black) that came out almost immediately. After returning from washing my hands (wishing I would've brought a book), I listened to the rustle of the restaurant and chatter of the patrons as I drank the tea waited for the meal. Coworkers, families and older married couples convened. It was comforting. The food arrived within 15mins of ordering. The skillet looked mildly appealing: scrambled eggs on top, the cheese was next, all on a bed of crumbled sausage and veggies. Though the cheese wasn't 100% melted, the plate completely filled with food. I couldn't resist! I added salt & pepper and began mashing the ingredients together. It was a delightful assortment of flavors and consistencies. The French toast wasn't mind blowing but definitely better than average. Heather made sure the syrup was hot and condiments (salsa & ketchup) were brought. 10/10 meal, hunger satisfied! As I sat, appreciative of the satiating meal, Heather came to inform me that my meal was paid for! My head swirled around the restaurant to guess who it was but Heather didn't reveal who or why. I was even more grateful that I came! I walked away in awe and returned with cash to tip Heather. So unfortunately I don't know how much the meal was but I'll say that great folks work and dine at this restaurant and I'll rave about my experience for years. read more

We had breakfast and all cooked well... pancakes were good, but wouldn't pay the extra for the waffle, as ours wasn't fixed up that much for the $. Eggs very good as was the sausage. Bacon was okay. Ok, this is my second time here. Rainy day called for takeout! This place is so well priced and the food is bomb. Got the 8 oz sirloin (medium rare), it came with a side salad, 2 sides, and a roll. For my sides I chose mashed potatoes and fried okra. The place is clean, great service, and a great menu selection for options that it is actually hard to decide. 10/10 recommend this "Cafe".... They give the hometown vibe, hometown prices, but also wonderful food!!! read more

They are open. And I like the Blue Plate Café! Are diners making a comeback? I hope so. Although I love the stuff, the explosion of Mexican restaurants is getting out of hand. Chicken strips, and wing vendors are another invasion, too many, especially in Broken Arrow. Welcome the Blue Plate Café, which proclaims to be Broken Arrow's, elite Blue Plate Café! The cafés menu has an expansive variety of American style breakfasts and lunches. Their menu looks good. In addition to the breakfast selection the menu covers soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers, classic diner entrées, and daily specials (browse the menu pictures.) And for that unimaginative boring person at the table, chicken tenders. The sandwich, soup and salad section of the menu appealed to me. I can see another visit in the future. Breakfast for me, my standard cafe breakfast challenge; two eggs sunny side up, bacon and hashbrowns (both crisp), biscuit and gravy, and coffee. The meal came to the table quickly after being ordered. It was perfect, on spec, exactly as ordered. Delicious. The coffee, an adequate café brew. The restaurant was well staffed this morning with their new employees in training. We got double friendly attention as the new servers were accompanied with their trainer. The cook was certainly not in training. The food was prepared perfectly! A big tasty breakfast with excellent service. The restaurant is clean and comfortable. The furnishings appeared to be fairly new. The café is attractively decorated with, as you would expect, a café motif of pictures and signs with catchy words of wisdom. Booths and tables are available. The parking lot is roomy with easy access from Kenosha or Elm Pl. Blue Plate Café works for me...I like it! read more

I've always been one that gives great reviews... but to today I will have to take another route. The service was tremendous and the waitress was magical. However the sausage tasted like it had Frost bite along with a biscuit. The absolute worst I've ever had. I couldn't get off the interstate fast Enough to find a restroom. Clean, fresh interior without annoying loud music. Wait staff were busy at the noon hour, but attentive. I ordered the chicken-fried steak with corn and mashed potatoes. The dinner salad was very tired lettuce--mostly the white ribs of lettuce. Corn had the taste of being on the stove for an extended time and mashed potatoes tasted like cardboard paste. Went today for a 2nd time and they messed up all of our food. We asked to have things left off we were allergic to, but when they brought it out was still on there. Pancakes & syrup tasted out of date. Eggs weren't done, bacon was un chewable. The man sitting next to us even says his pork chops tasted rotten. Waitress was friendly, but didn't listen to any requests. First time visit was good, but that was shortly after they opened. Definitely will not be back. read more

Party of 5, shoved tables together and seated quickly. Service- Was great! Ambience- As expected for cusp of busy lunchtime; bustling, noisy, but controlled chaos. Food- Two had fried catfish with pintos, coleslaw, & tartar sauce. Catfish- Crispy, hot & seasoned well. Coleslaw, 1liked, 1 did not. Just personal preference. Found it crunchy, not oversauced and not too sweet. Pintos, both disliked. They were anemic, undercooked in a watery broth, not a deeply cooked viscous broth. My CV for pintos.. Tennessee southerner. Tartar Sauce, both really disliked. Was very watery, not viscous with big cuts onion. Others had breakfast. Those that had breakfast; western omelet & french toast said they were good, and they did look good. Would I go back, not anytime soon, and if so would try breakfast. Sorry, no pics. read more

This place is a wonderful addition to Broken Arrow. I'd love to tell you about their lunch menu but the truth is I haven't been able to get past their incredible breakfast. Avocado toast, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, waffles and French toast, all were excellent. The service is top notch too! read more

Two of our three meals, the skillet breakfast meals, were so salty we couldn't eat them. I barely touched my meal. The server was very nice and offered to remake it, I declined, so she deducted about $4 from our $45 bill. It was very disappointing to pay that much when 2 meals were not edible. Most reputable restaurants would have deducted the meals, specially if the plates were left full. We will not be returning. read more

Wife and I had lunch there recently. She had the childrens French Toast Breakfast and I had a Burger. Both were really good and the portions were HUGE!! Even the Kiddy Plate......Service was friendly and pretty fast. My Tea was always full. I'm not an influencer so we forgot to take a pic of the food. Give them a try! read more

It was pretty busy, I can say that. However, if you are going to offer a side salad in addition to 2 sides with lunches....can you bring the salads out before the main course? I had a feeling that it wasn't going to happen that way after waiting 15 minutes after placing our order and our waitress never came by, so I got up went to the counter where you check out and asked if they normally serve the salad before main course? Yes, they do or at least that is what they told me. So, our main course came out followed by our salads. I had to go get my own knife for the porkchops and no refills. I did tell our waitress for future reference...most customers would like to have the salad before their meal. She just gave me a snarky look and we never saw her again. So that meant no refills during our meal, nd she wouldn't even bring our ticket to us, she had another waitress bring it to us! Maybe breakfast is better, but I'd say one and done for me. read more

The Blue Plate Cafe is excellent. The interior is quite "comfortable" and bright. Our waitress was exceptional, and checked on us several times throughout our breakfast experience. She kept my coffee cup full and hot throughout our stay. The menu is quite lengthy. From ordering to receiving our meals was an extremely short period of time. The servings were quite large, and served hot! The homemade biscuits were excellent. My home fried potatoes were perfectly done. There were three sausage links on my plate, where most other "cafes" serve two. All in all this was an excellent first meal at a very newly opened cafe. We will definitely be back, as we have found a new "favorite place!" The Blue Plate Cafe definitely will be in the running for best diner in Broken Arrow! read more
