Long day of travel, 4 hour layover due to some airline bs. It was closing time at the Blue Note and most everything else was already closed. I would guess the manager welcomed me after one staff member indicated they were closed. She said they still had burgers and salads and I think she said she would even cook it up. Horrible! The workers are unfriendly and seem like the customer is a burden. They did not have their menu posted like other airport restaurants and when I asked the counter hostess if I could see a menu she said only if I was ordering to go! I asked how could I make a decision if this was the right place for me if I can't see what food they have or prices. She finally gave me a menu to look at and I stayed. My table was a built in counter along the wall of the restaurant. It was sticky and stunk of bleach. Clearly they are using a bleach solution on the table tops, but did not rinse it. My back was to the interior of the restaurant and I was facing the airport hallway. The waiter had to stand at my side and I had to turn around to place my order. I ordered corn chowder soup and the 1/2 pound bacon cheeseburger with fries. The soup was hot and good, but the spoon they gave me was like a toddler's spoon, it was literally the size of my thumb. No soup spoons at this place apparently! The burger was over cooked and dry and flavorless. Not seasoned. The patty was very thick, close to an inch, which made the circumference of the burger quite small, not fully covering the stale birochi bun. It was also hard to eat. The toppings of lettuce, tomato, and bacon were all fine. They missed my onions though, which come standard, not a special request. The fries were tasty and hot. While I was there an older gentleman, probably a senior citizen, came through and was cleaning the floors. He was super friendly and was asking everybody how they were doing. While waiting during a layover I got in line to grab a bite. The place was busy but had several open tables and lots of single serving people at 2 tops. The hostess tried to shove me in at a high top with nowhere to put my luggage. I asked for a table and was told "this is where you can sit if you'd like to order" well after walking out the lady next in line by herself, was mysteriously sat a table for two by herself. The place was full and there was a line waiting to get in. The bartender was nice, but service at the bar was slower because the lady didn't have any help ( I felt bad for the lady because this seemed like a management issue.) Some customers in a rush were not as understanding as we were about this. If you want to get in and get out quickly you should probably find a Starbucks or Burger King. Ate at The Blue Note during a long layover in the St. Louis airport. It seemed to be the most popular place for dinner in the airport, as there was a small line to be seated and was packed during dinner time. Nonetheless, we were sat quickly. I was surprised how small and jammed together the tables were - not only because of social distancing precautions but because in an airport you can only expect people will have and be traveling with bags. Luckily we could stuff our (still rather large) backpacks under our feet, but there was no place or space for a carryon bag should we of had one. Maybe we just came in at a bad time, but it really seemed like our waitress was serving almost the whole restaurant. She did her best but you could tell she was very busy. Everything took a while to happen, ordering and getting food, etc. Not ideal for an airport restaurant if you are trying to catch a flight and have limited amount of time. Luckily, like stated, we had an obnoxiously long layover so the delays with our waitress only helped pass our time. The food was good! Unfortunately they were out of crab cakes which I originally ordered in a sandwich but pivoted to the burger. Haven't had a burger in a while and I enjoyed it, especially the sauce that was included. BEWARE if someone else is ordering the same time as you are, their order may wind up on yours. I ordered a beer and nachos and my total was $47. I had to flag someone down to ask how to remove the items that were not mine. Server says it happens A LOT and customers are angry at her because they were charged for other people's food. Nachos looked like school cafeteria food. Most chips had too much oil so they were soft which made it very difficult to scope up nacho ingredients. Didn't have any utensils to use. We arrived early for our flight out of St. Louis airport yesterday and went to the Blue Note to have a bite to eat and drink a beer to kill time. The atmosphere was great, but the service was THE WORST service of anyplace I've ever dined! Our servers name was Shannon. We ordered 2 beers. She put the order in and the bartender quickly had the cups filled and waiting on the counter. Shannon was nowhere to be found, literally not in the restaurant and 10 minutes later she finally came back into the restaurant and we got our warm beers. She took our food order, Nacho's and a BLT and then another 15-20 minutes go by before we see her again. We ended up ordering another beer with the bartender, instead of Shannon because she wasn't around. She literally left the restaurant and was either up front or in another room because we could not see her. Shannon finally brought our food and never came back to ask ANYTHING about our food, didn't ask if we want more drinks, or anything. This time she was up front talking with numerous others for another 20 minutes. We finally got her attention and asked for the check, left her a zero tip and wrote on the receipt "worst service ever" so she would get the message.
