Me and my girlfriend come here every Sunday after church, and usually it is quite busy and there is a little bit of a wait, but that wait is always worth it. Every time the food is excellent, not too expensive, and the service is always wonderful and cheerful. Whenever we have people from out of town visit us we always make sure to bring them here for a delicious breakfast. Coffee is always outstanding, and the Caesar salad, wings, or pancakes are definitely my favorites. Would 100% recommend. read more

Very busy for Sunday brunch, you have to try the chicken and waffles. There is nothing diet or heart healthy, or maybe there is but you aren't going to want to order it when you see the mountains of yummy diner food being served to other tables. They were swamped and understaffed when we were there so service was slow although the staff were working their tails off. But the coffee and water kept coming and we were rewarded with every bite when we finally dug in. read more

Stopped here on st. Patrick's day for a date to go some fish. It was not too busy for a Saturday night at 7:30 but we were seated right away. Our server rushed my boyfriend and I for drink orders, the only special being bud light( not Blue Moon?), dyed green, for regular price. What a waste of an opportunity to not offer an easy premium cocktail for the holiday? Irish green beer and corned beef special had to be probed for, and were described by server to be "pretty basic". Answers to questions about the menu to the server were curt, though she mentioned that she wasn't very busy. The "one trip" to the mostly unfilled salad bar was not explained with my order. Appetizers, entrees and beverage refills were never checked in on. The fish sandwich and dinner were soggy and came without any tartar or other sauce. The baked and garlic mashed potatoes were old, too dried out and rubbery. read more

The restaurant was in full reconstruction, however was still very clean inside. Food was excellent. Waitress Tiyana was great and provided wonderful service. The bacon jalapeño bites were exceptional and worth the stop. Other menu items were also very good. read more

Ordered three piece batter fried fish dinner for takeout. Fish were a little soggy, just fell apart when LLC touched. Need to allow more than just the bartender to ring you up for takeout because she is way too busy. Had to wait 10 minutes To get rung up with a lot of staff standing around unable to help. read more

Pros: great location and fast friendly staff. Nothing like supporting a local business. The French fries were great. Cons: we had the bourbon and teriyaki boneless wings which we both regretted ordering. For the price and amount that we got I would of just ordered a meal. read more

We are from Ohio and were visiting and had a terrific breakfast here. Great service and excellent breakfast food here. The breakfast burrito was top notch. The French Toast were hearty and delicious and so were the pancakes and eggs the other person in our party had. And all with a table by a window with an an excellent scenic view of Lake Onalaska. Thanks for making the start of our last day in Wisconsin amazing with such an excellent breakfast! I don't think it could have been any better. A really nice atmosphere with a cozy feel. This would have been my young family's 2nd time eating at this establishment. 1st time was great. Excellent food, attentive and friendly waitstaff. This time, we checked in and were immediately greeted by a giant poster right behind the check-in station promoting a drag queen show at another establishment. For the record, I could care less if you want to dress in drag and do the hula. I just don't want to explain what a drag queen is to my 6, 7 and 10 year old while we're out for a burger at what I would assume is a business that should only be concerned with making a great meal and paying off (what must have been) a quite costly renovation this past year. Instead, we patronized a small cafe in a nearby town for lunch, then went to the Mexican establishment just down the road for supper. Spent well over $125 plus tips and didn't have to be faced with the decision of whether or not to explain to my small children why a dude wants to dress like, well ...I don't want to say a clown, because that would be an insult to Ronald McDonald. Make better choices about what your restaurant is all about. Either it's good food and great service, or supporting the latest woke bulls**t that causes people to choose to dine elsewhere. read more

This morning, we were seated promptly, and then waited... for anything (no drink order taken, much less anything else). At least four staff people came near the proximity of our table, including a server who I made eye contact with, who proceeded to bring refill drinks to a table nearby, and then proceeded to socialize with that table. She then walked past us, never acknowledging us, or that there wasn't even water on the table. There was a person bussing tables, another person (who seated us), walked past again, and another server at the bar who I made eye contact with as we left. This is poor management and poor training of staff... no attentiveness whatsoever. Because we clearly did not feel welcome, we left... and will not return unless someone from the restaurant even cares to read this and reach out. read more

Came here for breakfast with my family and needed two high chairs and the staff gratefully accommodated it for us. The staff was prompt and the food was good. When I come out to visit family again in la crosse I will have to stop back in and grab a bite. Great local food joint all members in our party enjoyed the food. We ate here last year before Covid and literally left majority of our food behind. We decided to never return. Again last week friends invited me for lunch. I went for the company. The place was reeking of cigarette smoke. Ambiance of this run down place is further enhanced by empty cans of beer on the ground all around the property and smokers going in and out. Many employees weren't wearing masks and this place had reported covid19 outbreaks. All in all if you are into drinking cheap beer you may come out like a winner. read more

This is my second review for Blue Moon. For some reason, my initial review from a couple of years ago was filtered, hmmm. At any rate, I am looking to provide an update as there have been some changes at BM since that last review. I have been to BM many times since then. First, no more smoking. This is huge. It was my major issue with the restaurant before and it was what kept us from going there. It made such a difference. Second, they have added outdoor seating, which is very nice. You can have a few cocktails and some appetizers outside on their deck that overlooks Lake Onalaska. We have been to BM at least 10 times in the past 2 years, twice to eat dinner and the rest of the time, we have gone there for drinks with friends. I think there are some great things about Blue Moon and some things that could be improved. If you are looking for a place to have a few cocktails, beers, etc. then BM is a great place. The environment for the bar is nice and there is plenty of room. If you are going to have dinner, the food is good, not great, but good. The major issue we had was with overall cleanliness and hygiene at BM. There is a saying that you can always tell the quality of a restaurant by how clean their bathroom is. Well, in the case of BM, it doesn't bode well. The bathroom (at least the mens) is disgusting - I would put it in the truck stop category. It had a terrible smell and was very dirty - not a good sign for a restaurant. My wife and I took the kids for dinner this past summer and we couldn't believe the amount of flies buzzing around us. It was very annoying and distracting. The quality of the food was fine but the experience was limited due to the flies. The other issue with this visit was the hygiene (lack thereof) of the bartender. I ordered a vodka tonic and I watched the bartender take money from some people, wipe a bunch of tables and the bar, then pour my drink and squeeze a lemon into my drink and put the lemon into my drink (the entire thing) without washing his hands. This, combined with the flies and the gross bathrooms really put us off. It's the details like these that make the difference. I really want to like BM; it is close to where we live and its very convenient. I am hoping that this feedback will lead to changes that improve these things that my wife and I have both noticed, as well as all of our friends. The bathroom thing has been mentioned to us by many others as well. In closing, if BM could clean up their bathrooms in a major way and address some of the hygiene issues, I think it would be a 3 or 4 star place as it has a great location and the environment is nice. read more

Came up for thanksgiving to visit some friends in the area. I chose a random restaurant that is locally owned and it was superb. Love the atmosphere of the restaurant. Everyone was super nice and pleasant. I got a salad and the Western Burger which is a half pound slab of melty meat and bbq sauce. I could've added pulled pork on top of it but I know I couldn't hold that much food. It's just awesome and I'll definitely be back next time I'm up this way. I have lived in the area my whole life but have never ate dinner here. Been a few times to watch sporting events and have bloodymarys. Arrived at 5:20 on a Friday night and had a very difficult time finding a place to park. We feared once we reached inside we would wait for a table, however we were sat immediately. Our waitress greeted us and seemed very frazzled and was not wearing the business shirt as everyone else was. She stated that she had only been there for 5 days and it made sense why she was frazzled, but she did a very nice job serving us. I had the Ribeye, medium rare, with blue cheese and caramelized sweet onions on top. It was absolute delicious. I haven't had a ribeye that tender and cooked perfectly in a very long time, that I haven't cooked myself. The green beans I had as a side dish were good, nothing special there. You do get your choice of potato but I'm not much into the starchy veggies. I debated on 3 stars due to the beans not being very flavorful or lots of thought put into them, and also due to the salad bar, but the ribeye was so good it warranted the 4 stars. The salad bar was very much an afterthought, been to much better places with a salad bar. I probably will forgo the salad bar next time. Most of it looked fresh but there were some things that I decided against putting on my plate because of their sketchy appearance. I would probably just offer people a cup of soup, table salad, or Caesar salad that is brought out by the server. read more

We've never had a bad food experience here; the food is always great!! That said, the service here is awful. We have even tried to sit in the bar area for better service, but no luck. The last time we went, our waitress disappeared for about 15 minutes and when she came back she REEKED of cigarette smoke. We just order take out now and pick it up at the bar. First time here and probably my last. Main entrance is not handicap accessable and even though i was clearly struggling with the stairs with my walking sticks, the staff person holding the door open and watching me didn't bother to tell me there was a ramp in the back. Food was adequate. Salad bar pretty good. Steak was actually rare as i ordered it. Very tender. Potato was dry but extra butter was provided on request. Service ok. From where we sat i could clearly see into the kitchen - i wish i couldn't. It was filthy with food scraps ann trash all over the floor. The bar area also looked dirty and unfinished. This may have been an attempt to look rustic but was just unappealing and bad. read more

One of our favorite small dining Restaurants is definitely Blue Moon! I had never been there so my boyfriend took us and I was so surprised at how delicious the food was. I have had a handful of things while dining here, but my all time favorite dinner at Blue Moon is the Chicken Fried Chicken with the white Cream Gravy on it w/ a side of their yummy mashed potatoes. The Portions are definitely generous and 10/10 in taste! On our last trip just a few days ago my Boyfriend ordered the Garlic Butter Steak yum yum yum. They also have a great salad bar with Soups. On our last trip I got the Sweet Potato Soup and it was so creamy and flavorful (and Clearly Homemade). I am very impressed with this restaurant and I know you will love it too. read more

Always good food, but I've never experienced good service here. We sat down at the bar at 5:55 tonight and waited for a few minutes to get drinks. By the time the bartender punched our drinks in to the computer it was a minute after the happy hour ended. So she proceded to tell us that it's actually going to be more now since happy hour is over. We were not very pleased that we had to pay more for our drinks because it took too long for the bartender to come and get our order. Plus it always seems like we are being a nuisance to the hostess whenever we go in. Doesn't look we will be going back for a while. read more
