I love going here. It is such a nice place to meet a few friends after work and have a couple drinks. And I have way too many times. They have a great wing special on Wednesday, not to mention that there wings are great. Plus no extra charge for the sauce. There drinks are reasonably priced and the bartenders are always friendly. They are located right across the highway from lake Onalaska. They have the best views, but there parking lot is small and they are usually busy so you might have to park on a side street and walk a bit to get there. read more

One of our favorite small dining Restaurants is definitely Blue Moon! I had never been there so my boyfriend took us and I was so surprised at how delicious the food was. I have had a handful of things while dining here, but my all time favorite dinner at Blue Moon is the Chicken Fried Chicken with the white Cream Gravy on it w/ a side of their yummy mashed potatoes. The Portions are definitely generous and 10/10 in taste! On our last trip just a few days ago my Boyfriend ordered the Garlic Butter Steak yum yum yum. They also have a great salad bar with Soups. On our last trip I got the Sweet Potato Soup and it was so creamy and flavorful (and Clearly Homemade). I am very impressed with this restaurant and I know you will love it too. read more

I've read other reviews that are like 2 or 3 stars, but your one time experience is lack luster and people need to be patient. Just because you're a customer doesn't mean you're *thee only customer*. This place is BUSY! HAVE A LIL PATIENCE. Their apps have been improving ever since they re-vamped their menu. They keep trying, that's what a savy and loyal customer can tell. These local-yokal folks can get all pissy about a salad bar, but what do you expect? Salad bars are just that, salad..cottage chz, some pasta salads and toppings. If you want a "salad bar" go to old country buffet, some rinky dink place, or stay home with your french dressing and ice burg lettuce. It'll cost yourself a hella lot more plus you can save some face. Their wings are great, they even serve late night menu until 2am!?! Pancakes included. The new taco app w/ pork and pickled veggies is seriously amazing with the sauce, GREAT IDEA! I don't like seeing bad reviews about a place that is trying to be progressive and shut down by Nancy's. We were in town for a hockey tournament. I called in the afternoon to see if they could make a reservation for 30ish people. I called when we were on our way and they had our tables all ready, even though the parking lot and bar area were completely full. We were served promptly, efficiently, and so politely. The food was great. We went knowing that it was traditional American fare, and that is exactly what we got. Something for everyone. I was reluctant to order my steak char rare, as that is often a tall order even without a group of 35. My steak was perfect. Our bills were separated perfectly, even though the kids were sitting at different t tables. They have clearly done this before. I am impressed. Well done Blue Moon. read more

I had the Italian Job and my god it was fantastic! The breakfast there was to die for. I honestly can't wait to go back and try more food!!

First visit to this saloon - nice atmosphere. There are dining areas separated from the bar, which was nice (since the bar was pretty packed). Quite a few people on a Friday evening. We visited for beer & burgers, but started with the cheese curds. Pretty average curds. Beer selection was solid. French fries were also pretty average, but the burgers (Western & Korean) were very good. Will be back for more burgers! read more

Food is great here, recommend chicken wings on Wednesday since they are 50 cents. I always get good service at the restaurant and the bar as well. I've eaten breakfast and dinner at Blue Moon. I ordered three griddle cakes because I thought two wouldn't be enough to eat - but they're huge! I probably would have filled up on just one. I've had their prime rib twice. Both times I received a thick, very tender and juicy piece of meat. The quality and presentation of my dinner was every bit as nice as some more expensive restaurants in the area. Blue Moon is authentically a roadhouse, so if you're looking for some place fancy or quiet, go somewhere else. But if delicious, quality food is what matters to you, this is a GREAT choice. read more

Great food,excellent service( our server Attum did a great job). I had chicken fried chicken and it was delicious. Drinks were good. Very nicely decorated. It was busy and a bit noisy but tables were placed well and we were not on top of each other. Oh and we didn't have to wait long because they move people through fast. Went here for my daughters 22nd bday. We tried a few other places that were over an hour wait so decided to stop here. Sign out front said immediate seating, once inside told the wait was about half hour. That was fine, went to the bar for drinks. Super crowded. Once seated our waitress was super sweet and fun but very busy and overwhelmed. Took about 10 minutes for her to stop to get our drink order and we had to ask for menus-didn't receive them when seated. Took a long time to get drinks and new drink orders. Appetizers came out right away and were good-cheese curds and jalapeño bomb things. My husband and son both got wraps-both had chicken but were different menu items. They both said the chicken was so over cooked they ended up taking half of it out. Daughters boyfriend said Pulled pork sandwich was great and chicken fried chicken was okay. Seemed like could be a fun atmosphere to sit and have a drink at the bar, but overall very cramped and crowded and food was just okay. Will try something different instead of returning here next time in town to visit our daughter at college. read more

Not good. Service was ok, food was bad. Prime Rib special had no flavor, and was really chewy. Rustic chicken had really bad brushetta and artichoke dip with cheese on a tiny, overcooked chicken breast. Potato skins were really poor quality with cheese out of a can, and a tiny bit of sour cream. Sad. read more

She never came over to check in on us and how everything was tasting. I felt rushed to order and pay afterwards (not sure if it was the end of her shift?). Stopped in mid evening on a Friday was fairly busy, very loud which was looking for something a little more quieter but stuck with it. Food selection is very nice wide array to offer. I had the turkey wrap was excellent friend had the western burger and commented it was one of the best they've had in a long time. So the food was good. Went there on a Friday night with the intent to have some good fish. Service was pretty good as we had two waiters (not sure why). Sat at a booth in the back of the restaurant. It was quiet even with the tv on behind us. Good food, salad bar, and drinks. Parking lot was full which was a good indication that it was a popular spot. We had our holiday work party in the basement of Blue Moon. I would HIGHLY recommend checking out their venue for events of 20-75 people. The food was amazing, we had chef carved beef tenderloin and baked chicken - both were delicious. They have a full size bar downstairs, private bathrooms, a lounge area with TV's (so we could watch the Packer game). Our bartender was great too! They were extremely accommodating as I had to make some last minute changes to our party. If you are looking for a clean, spacious, and friendly place to entertain look no further. Worst experience at Blue Moon this morning. Terrible service. Our drinks were not brought out to us until our food came out and we had to ask for it. When our waitress came to check on us, we were already done with our food and asked for our check. She came by and threw our bill on the table when I extended my hand out to grab the bill. We weren't rude and didn't complain to the waitress. We just let it be and be in our way. To top it off, as we waited in line in front of a family to pay our bill, the girl at the register asked the family behind us how many people they have to be seated. I meet up with my husband and busy teenage son here every Wednesday for their 35 cent chicken wings and cheap burgers. The bar is quite smokey, but the restaurant does not get too bad. The Blue Moon has a very relaxed atmosphere and so this is a perfect getaway place in the middle of the week. I get the salad bar (keep in mind: this is still a WISCONSIN salad bar, not a California Salad bar) and 5 "Ass Burner Wings"-- their hottest wings and my husband and son each get a burger with fries and 5 "Buffalo Wings". They have MANY other flavors for their chicken wings. The meal with a few beers is under $25 usually. If you want their happy hour drink price, you have to go to the bar yourself before 6, I think. I have friends who eat there on days other than Wednesdays and love the specials, but I cannot personally vouch for more than what I have written about. Enjoy! read more

Upon arriving, we figured out how to get into the place, and sat down. As posted by others, it took a while for a server to actually get to us. I was very pleased to see that the salad bar had more than just a sorted bunch of condiments. I ordered a cheese burger and fries with a one trip salad bar. The waitress misunderstood, and substituted the salad bar for the fries. Although the contents of the salad bar looked pretty good, they were mediocre. The burger was pretty delicious. I can't speak of the fries, since I never got them. Overall it was not a pleasant, memorable experience. I will not be going out of my way to come back here. read more

Went in on a Wednesday evening for drinks and food. It was visibly busy, but we were able to get a table right away. We ordered our drinks, and our food a few minutes later. After 30 minutes had passed we got our food (mine was warm at best), AND THEN got our first drinks delivered. Both drinks were wrong, but did not have the heart to point it out, as the server was visibly busy and offered to buy the drinks on our behalf for the 30 minute wait. Before leaving she asked if we needed anything else, we asked for another side of sauce; it never came. In the end the drinks were comped, the food was mediocre, the bartenders clearly don't know basic drink recipes, and the waitress was either totally oblivious, or too busy to write down or remember simple requests.
