The flavor reminded me of my mom's who was taught by her neighbor who was from Italy. So very delectable. I took two of the four home and made two meatball subs from them- again, so enormous. The Grumpy Beaver does not skimp on quantity, but maintains a very high level of quality. The cheesesteak equaled two you would receive from anywhere else. The inclusion of sirloin, Swiss cheese accompaniment, and the local Mancini bakery bread ( long roll) will stand against anything you get from Philly. This was scrumptious. For dessert we chose a Dubai torte, and a banana peanut butter pie. Both did not let us down, with the heavenly flavor exploding in each bite. Our waitress Gabby was sweet and very accommodating. In general terms, our daughter was picking up food with her friends last night for their online order; there was an issue; she told us about it today; and my fired-up husband decided to call. Jimmy, the owner, came on the line immediately and did every single thing you'd hope a manger would do: listened, acknowledged, and apologized. So often, managers think that by apologizing, they're admitting to something awful, weakening their case, opening themselves up to litigation, or failing to support their employees. None of that is true. The respect that Jimmy showed us was accompanied by respect for the employee in question. He wanted to know more, as he said, "not because I want proof, but because I want to understand what happened and how we can avoid having it happen again." We haven't eaten here ourselves yet, and probably never would have if it weren't for that apology. For now, all the great things we've heard about Jimmy K's were reinforced by their drive to convert a complaint into a training opportunity. It's impossible to overstate how impressed we are that an owner would take the time on a busy Saturday night to make this discussion a priority.
