This cute pub is divided into three areas to accommodate everyone's fun visit. The bar area has high top tables for enjoyable get togethers, while thru the open door way are low top tables which aid in providing a more intimate atmosphere. There is also a big patio area which is wonderful for a warm spring day, or a cozy summer night. The menu contains unique items amongst its standard fare. We went with the "Polish bowl", the " Italian bowl" and the cheesesteak. The Polish bowl contained pirogies that would rival any church lent takeaway. Accompanying them was kielbasa, sauerkraut, bacon, with side of sour cream and butter. Large portions, delicious taste. The Italian bowl consisted of four enormous meatballs. The flavor reminded me of my mom's who was taught by her neighbor who was from Italy. So very delectable. I took two of the four home and made two meatball subs from them- again, so enormous. The Grumpy Beaver does not skimp on quantity, but maintains a very high level of quality. The cheesesteak equaled two you would receive from anywhere else. The inclusion of sirloin, Swiss cheese accompaniment, and the local Mancini bakery bread ( long roll) will stand against anything you get from Philly. This was scrumptious. For dessert we chose a Dubai torte, and a banana peanut butter pie. Both did not let us down, with the heavenly flavor exploding in each bite. Our waitress Gabby was sweet and very accommodating. My husband and I went there to hear the live music they had recently and since we had eaten at home earlier in the evening, I just ordered dessert. It was an Orange Phyllo Cake. I'm not really a cake person but I love orange flavor but I have to say, this was the best cake I've ever had! It was dense like a tres leche cake and it tasted like it had been soaked in sweet orange syrup. Delicious!! There were pieces of sweetened orange rind and pieces of crispy phyllo slivers that added a nice crunchy element. Don't pass this place up! I've never had anything here I don't like. read more

Cozy pub with a huge menu; even an entire menu page of wedge salads. Their steamed shrimp special on Thursdays and Sundays is fantastic. $14 for a pound and $7 for an extra pound. Had a mini Wedge and the Cajun and Old Bay shrimp, Cajun was our favorite but both were great. Great service and a nice patio outback with live music on weekends. Next trip we will definitely venture upstairs to the Speakeasy. The only need is to put a good IPA on tap! read more

Seriously amazing food at this unassuming spot in Beaver! Visiting family, and they all spoke so highly of this spot and I can see why. From the red pepper soup, to the pirogi with kielbasa, to the Rueben, and even the brussel sprouts were spot on. My family lives in the area and said that not a single thing is bad on the menu! I loved how much corned beef the Rueben had with so much melty cheese. The sauce was excellent and not overly spread. The read pepper soup was a favorite, and the toast squares were so nice to dip in! A late lunch at the bar meant the place was to ourselves, but the service was great and our bartender made sure our drinks were always filled. Sometimes you see a dish on tv and it looks so good but you don't know how to make it. I was craving a tomato-y and a little spicy pasta dish but didn't The Grumpy Beaver had just that!! They have Louisiana Pasta and it was soooo much better than I could have ever imagined. Just exactly what I was craving. It's a seafood/sausage pasta dish with the perfect tomato and a little oil sauce. It's just what I have been wanting!!! I will definitely have it again. My cocktail was delicious, too! read more

An update...as stated, a bit of a wait for well prepared food is acceptable. A long wait to place an order after being seated is something else. This has happened on the last two visits, the most recent found us waiting for 15 minutes and staring at a menu where the traditional fish sandwich was conspicuously absent from the lenten menu. There *was* walleye on the regular menu, but a familiar large deep fried cod sandwich is what we were after. Maybe our pallets just aren't upscale enough. There seem to be plenty of wait staff, but there doesn't seem to be a shared understanding of what everyone's role is or how long someone should be expected to wait before an order is taken...even if the food is awesome. read more

Don't you love when you just stumble upon a really great place? Our server Deanna was so warm and nice with a GREAT tip about their house made dressing, which turned out to be incredible! My gyro wedge salad was huge and DELICIOUS! My husband got the miso correlone (hot Italian sub), my dad got the cheesesteak, and my mom got the goat cheese and beet wedge salad and everyone absolutely loved their food. We weren't sure how the food would be since this is a bar with food so we were really pleasantly surprised when it was very very good. This place is really pretty on the inside (historic architecture) and the outdoor patio was nice too. Everything seemed very clean, including the restroom. I didn't have a great first experience here. It took forever for anyone to wait on me at the bar & the that finally did seemed not very experienced. I wasn't given a beer list or a food menu. I had to ask about beer & she wasn't familiar with what beers were what. I had been hoping to get a bite to eat, but I couldn't even get a second beer and it wasn't very crowded. I've always liked this place...it was two other places before it changed to Grumpy Beaver. They have a lot of potential but never enough staff & often an over ambitious menu. I'll give it another shot & hopefully will have a better experience. You can park on street or in church lot up the road. They have a nice outdoor seating area & patio. This was a hard review to do. After eating our appetizers, I was thinking I was going to be giving this a 5! The atmosphere in the bar area was great and our waitress, who was also working at the bar, was really attentive. I also loved the black silverware. We got the Brussels sprout appetizer, Phenomenal, and the meatballs were really good too. Then we shared the Polish Bowl, which was good. But the reason for the 3 stars is that we didn't get our meal for almost 1 hour and 40 minutes after we ordered. We feel like we will for sure they this again, but we might need to pick and chose our food. read more

I don't typically give places 5 stars. This place stands out. The menu is great. It is a little more refined but nothing crazy (as some people complained previously). We came in with two hungry kids 6 & 3 who just had movie plans fall through (so were upset) they were super accommodating. They got our kids food first and the waitress expedited it so they wouldn't be hungry (it still tasted very good). My wife and I ordered the Rueben and the turkey sandwich. Both came out quickly and far exceeded expectations. Most notably was the service. Best service we have had in a long time. Our waitress was honestly perfect. She anticipated the hungry kids and brought them complimentary popcorn and was extremely nice despite the kids being cranky at first. We will be back. Only criticism would be the draft list. The house pale ale was not the best but drinkable. They need to have more craft options and get rid of the ciders, hard lemonades, etc. That is more of a preference though. read more

We were already familiar with the chef's expertise, so when we heard he was opening a new restaurant, we had to try it. I was very hopeful for this spot because the menu looked great and I heard some great things. I got there at 7:30. The hostess appropriately explained that the kitchen was backed up and the food might be a wait. We knew it is a new resturant so we figured we would wait because of our excitement to see a new place with a menu that is not a family resturant. We sat down and we got menus and I did like the ambiance and the glitter tables were awesome. Well, then our waitress explained we could only order alcohol because ghe kitchen was backed up and they were no longer taking orders because they close at 9:00. So, we declined and on the way out we explained to the hostess that they are completely closing the food down. The owner then decided to explain they cook food from scratch and they are busy. Look, I understand they and new and things can get chaotic, but they are serving salads, hot dogs, and sandwiched (that are mostly lunch meat based). There isn't anything Robert Irvine would tolerate longer than 30 min from scratch. I didn't feel welcomed and likely will not try again (mostly because of the owner). read more

Great spot in Bridgewater, PA. Nice selection of beers and cocktails and not the same thing you get everywhere else. The menu is full of items that managed to satisfy everyone I was with. Huge sandwiches, pastas, good salads...come hungry. Our server was great--quick with drinks and our dinner came out hot and fast. Food... ugh... not so good. I had the pasta with their mustard/soy "diane" sauce; it was awful. A concoction that is like a bad creation dreamt up by a college kid in the dorm. Think yellow mustard on overcooked pasta. I left it, uneaten, on the table. My wife & mother-in-law had pecan chicken. The chicken had no taste and was coated with a soggy breading with sparse pecans. Their side of baby carrots & broccolini was raw (hard uncooked carrots) and were also left uneaten. My sister-in-law's fish sandwich was the best plate on the table. A generous portion of deep fried haddock on a bun (kind of hard to fk up). We will return; it's a cool place for a few beers, and a sandwich; but not for dinner. read more

Service was extremely slow. Don't go if you're actually hungry. If you're drinking, order two at a time. If you want food that is "prepared fresh" but is basically something out of a crockpot....be ready to wait at least 90+ minutes..... nothing more than a few salads, pierogis, and meatball hoagies. The beer was ok. Standard craft brew kind of stuff. Nothing memorable or something you'd look for at a distributor. After multiple complaints, the Manager came out, but was rather nonchalant about it. Gave us a few free deserts and beer glasses (3 bite size cuts of what looked like Costco cheesecakes). Same excuses as other posts here....kitchen backed up, new server, big party ahead of you, etc. He did knock off 10%, but was barely enough to cover the difference of leaving a clearly struggling server at least a decent tip. oh....parking is nowhere to be found...enjoy walking a block or two from a side street) For apps and entrees in the $15-30 range, spend your time and money elsewhere. read more
