While the pool itself was built nicely, my experience with post-installation service has been extremely disappointing. Each time I reported issues with the equipment, there was little to no follow-up or resolution. Over the past three years, I have communicated the same concerns to multiple managers--four in total--providing detailed explanations and photos each time. Despite repeated calls and assurances that the issues would be addressed, no meaningful action has been taken. On several occasions, I was told that the manager who had promised to resolve the problem was no longer with the company, and the process would start over again. After filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, I received an unprofessional phone call from a manager at the Blue Haven San Antonio (1604 office). During this call, the manager became confrontational, accused me of being dishonest, spoke inappropriately, and ultimately stated that they would not be addressing any of the outstanding issues before abruptly ending the call. The unresolved issues include: * Pool plaster discoloration shortly after initial fill * Pool light that has never functioned properly * Pool pump failure after one year, which was replaced * Ongoing failures of the HydraPure UV system lights within months of replacement, indicating a likely system defect Although replacement bulbs for the HydraPure system were eventually sent, they continue to fail, suggesting a deeper issue that has not been properly inspected or resolved. It appears that repair requests have been consistently delayed until warranties expire, at which point service is denied. Overall, this reflects a lack of accountability, poor customer service, and failure to stand behind the product and installation. Mr J. Blue Haven does not stand behind their work. My pool was completed in February 2023. Prior to that - on November 28, 2022 - I messaged the foreman (xxxx) the following: Hi xxxx! I hope you had a good holiday! Couple things... 1. Do I need to keep watering the pool? The water is about calf deep on the deep end. 2. I picked out all the materials last Tuesday. They said you'll probably do coping and tile late this week. 3. The dirt on the side by the house deck (shallow end) where the sewer was rerouted is very "soft." I think it might need filling and maybe some tamping before the pool deck is installed. 4. Will the far side of the pool that's not getting pool decking be graded to slope away from the pool? I think I'd like that. In April 2023, I asked the project supervisor (xxx) when we thought we might get the SmartDeck done. He said the deck guy was 'waiting for good weather. May 04, 2023 - while it was raining - the deck guy showed up to do the SmartDeck. I messaged xxx to advise. August 29, 2023, I reported the SmartDeck was chipping and cracking (and that the pool light was not working) to the Service department. Someone was sent promptly to check the light and take pictures of the deck. See attachments September 29, 2023, I messaged xxx to advise the SmartDeck was chipping and cracking. At that point I had called the office several times and never heard anything back. Xxx replied that it appeared the 'ground had shifted.' Of course it did! Blue Haven literally disturbed the ground when they dug a giant hole in it! Additionally, please see above - where I advised the ground was soft and subsequently NO fill was placed and NO tamping was done. Xxx also advised that 'the best we could do is fill in the spots - and the I could paint it.' October 2024, I reported that my pool deck was COMPLETELY SEPARATED from the pool. See the attached photos. I called the office and spoke to xxxx. Xxxx told me that 'ground shifting' was not warrantied. Blue Haven literally disturbed the ground when they dug a giant hole in it AND I told y'all that the ground was too soft before you poured the deck! And you're telling me you're not going to fix it!? My pool is less than 2 years old! See attachments. Without my consent, xxxx sent guys out to 'patch' the deck again. Allegedly they backfilled the gap with sand and cement. Then covered it with a giant blob of epoxy. It is an absolute eyesore. This is not a simple 'crack.' The deck has separated from the pool! I tried to explain to xxxx that this was not a 'repair' it was at best a bandaid - duct tape and baling wire! He told me the only way to fix it the 'correct' way was to have your approval. That is what I am asking you - as THE OWNER OF BLUE HAVEN POOLS - to do. Approve, sanction, endorse, authorize - pick a word! - the repair or replacement of my pool deck. I chose to go with Blue Haven because you have great reviews and fantastic recommendations. I trust that you will make this right. Categorically false. Not a peep. Where to start? PROS -Guy who came to our house surveyed our backyard and told us a pool was doable for our backyard size and land survey - got us excited, personable staff when working with our desired pool -End product actually turned out amazing with the design that we gave and we are in love with it BUT the things we went through to get to that point, you be the judge if it would be worth it for you. CONS: -told us our sprinkles would not be destroyed if they were capped, but another guy who came and measured everything out specifically said "I know they said you won't get destroyed sprinklers, but it'll be destroyed" So conflicting info -took forever to build the whole thing, estimated was 2-3 months and it tooks 6 months, this was end of September -made a mistake with tiles because they mixed us up with another customer, TOOK another 2 weeks -sometimes they wouldn't communicate with us and there would be no one working on our pool for days on end on a perfectly good weather -they don't tell you they are fully booked and keep booking so your pool priorities are behind other people who are ahead of you, which delays almost everything and everything is pretty much behind on schedule and people just come in whenever to work on one phase to another read more

We hired Blue Haven to build a pool - 3ft, 4ft, and 5.5 ft deep pool. The pool was 4ft, 5ft, almost 5.9ft deep The steps going into the pool super steep because the pool was deeper than 3 feet - The entrance to the pool was 4ft vs 3 ft We asked Blue Haven for help and finally Blue Haven supervisor came to the home and he refused to add a step or hand railing unless we paid additional fees. Its wasn't our fault the pool was dug deeper or not enough gunite was pour. We agree to have additional gunite poured. The gunite guys came to the home and added additional gunite - no rebar- no bonding agent- no roughing or etching the current cement - they just added additional cement to the preexisting cement. We questioned this and was told it was ok to pour new additional cement onto old cement. We contacted professional cement company - they call this a cold pour and its possible that the new cement will not stick to the preexisting cement. Unfortunately, the gunite sub contractor also left the pool steeper - they failed to adjust the grade leaving the pool very steep. We ask for help again - Blue Haven 2nd level Supervisor said he would fix it. He came out to the home without any measuring tools. We provided them tape measure and the super attempted to measure the pool without even getting into the pool. We had to suggest that they get into the pool to take measurements. The second issue - the pool is too high out of the ground. The pool is higher above the ground than it should have been according to the plans. We have informed both the sales agent and the pool supervisor at frame stage the pool was higher than the plans. This means there a possibility of the water coming back into the home unless we pay for professional drainage. This also means additional cost in fill and cement to complete the flatwork around the pool. It also means the first step going into the pool is higher. There are many other issues with the pool, the fountain is not level, the title is not flush, the grout already cracking, the title has sharp edges. The workers leave the gate open - dogs get out of the yard, everyone working on the pool is a sub contractor, the General Contract has little supervision, sub contractors show up with out knowledge, They started just a few days before their cut off, the first guy that came out to measurements was rude. The layout was not straight. Contracted in 24 May, , they started 3 months later in Aug - its almost Christmas still not finished. They bonded one corner, if you ready the contract if they damage anything - trees, driveways, gates, sprinklers, etc they are not responsible. read more

Where do I begin? Worst customer service ever. Once we signed the check and construction started it all went downhill from there. Pool skimmers are not level. Gave us tiles that look backwards. We paid the higher price for tiles that looked mermaid color and now they just look blue. Some tiles are actually put in backwards. Some tiles are not flush with the side of the pool. Been trying to get it fixed since July 2020. Now almost a year later we are still being put on the back burner and given the run around. Jorge even had the nerve to tell me it all looked fine and I was "overreacting" to how it looked. I told him with the price I paid I wanted it to at least look descent. 10/10 DON'T recommend this company. If they fix it and make it right, I'll retract. My pet peeve is a contractor that doesn't supervise their sub contractors. That's Blue Haven. In less than two years my pool was drained 3 times and acid washed 4 times because of the poor plaster application. Then replastered with terrible results. Streaking and staining throughout. Only see them when it's time to pay. You must be extremely pro active and call all the time for schedules. Now they refuse to remedy the terrible plaster. Don't get enticed by their low price as their product is inferior. Too many good quality companies to choose. read more

I would definitely NOT recommend! When they 'decide' to show up they are sloppy and inefficient. The amount of litter I had to pick up after them was obnoxious! They threw trash everywhere. Never showed up when they said and never said when they were coming. Got yelled at by the foreman regularly because their inter communication was so poor. Sooo.....a year later still not finished and it makes me sick to think of the money we spent. I have a lot to say about the company, but I will be as brief as possible to keep this readable. I hired them in 2021 to build my pool. They promised "75 days from dig to dive". They played up how their workers are craftsman, and that they charge more because of their craftsmanship. Every step along the way had problems. I agreed to the picture our sales guy drafted, but the picture and blueprint they had at my house were not the picture I agreed to. Also, the picture and the blueprint they put in my yard didn't match up with each other. They dug holes the wrong size, framed the retaining walls incorrectly (that would have been lower than the ground), built steps at uneven heights, left their trash (lunch, cigarettes, and beer bottles) in my yard, covered my underground pipes with their excess concrete and plaster, used my front yard as a parking lot because they wanted to park under the tree in my yard (no matter how many times I told them to tell their workers not to park in my front yard). They also mislabeled my equipment pipes. They tried to charge me $800 for a permit that the city said doesn't exist. When I asked about it, he said they charge it even if they don't need it. It was for an auto fill, which they were going to connect to my outside water spicier that happened to be soft water. That was in addition to the $816 they charged for the actual auto fill, which is overpriced. I told the salesman I wanted certain things and he said "Just arrange it with the contractors, if we do it it will be more expensive." Then the blue haven superintendent got involved and tried to upcharge what the worker said he said he would charge me. I fired that superintendent for trying to upcharge me for something that was between me and the contractor, as well as making racial comments against me, that I heard him say through my cameras. The super-in-training therefore couldn't finish the job, since I fired his trainer. They gave me another superintendent, but he left Blue Haven before my pool was finished. I had a retaining wall put in that they couldn't make straight (they used gunite when they should have used poured concrete). Then they said if I wanted it straight, they wouldn't be able to make the "75 days from dog to dive" timeline. I told them that I didn't pay to have a messed-up pool in 75 days, I paid to have a craft-built pool in 75 days. I was even told that I have to remember that this is man-made and therefore I can't expect straight walls. I told him that the only things that are straight are man-made. My heater broke after just a few months and it took them a few months to try and fix it. They "fixed it" with a part from an old heater that didn't go on this specific heater, and so it went out again the same day they "fixed" it. I heard him say "I'm glad we keep these parts from old heaters" through my cameras, yet he stilled tried to say he installed a brand new part. I had to hire another company to fix the heater. The part he had to replace was the one Blue Haven said they fixed, but Blue Haven's part looked corroded when the other technician removed it. I had to call the owner at corporate to get involved, since I could never get ahold of Tyler Worthey (owner of San Antonio branch). It took me about 3 minutes to get ahold of the owner of another branch in another state and then 30 minutes to hear back from the corporate owner of Blue Haven, but Tyler won't take a phone call from someone paying him $105k. They ONLY thing I can say good about this company is that they did MOSTLY fix everything. I say mostly, because they in order to actually fix some of the issues (deco drain) would have been more detrimental. Having it poorly done was better than then trying to fix the issue. I had to call them because they would go weeks sometimes over a month or two without working. I had to be the project manager and quality control manager on the job. I'm not quite sure why they have superintendents, because the supers hardly ever visit the site unless you call to say something is wrong. They do not double check work before moving on to the next step. Their excuse for everything was "You have to remember, you bought a pool in the most unprecedented time in history." Yet no where in my contract, or the sales pitch, did it state I would have sun-par work done because of this "unprecedented time". It took 13 months to completely finish the job. read more

Our interaction with the individual service technicians has been fine, but the office doesn't communicate and is not helpful in any way. The manufacturer is also not doing anything and won't even give us information on anyone who can even service the unit. In my opinion you should not use Blue Haven to build your pool! If you're looking for a low price, and quick build, Blue Haven is your pool company. You'll be happy with the construction process and jumping into your beautiful, new pool! But be warned: if you have any expectations for finishing final details, customer service after the last step in your pool build, or any kind of warranty (even for ONE MONTH) after your pool is finished, DO NOT CHOOSE BLUE HAVEN. From the week after our pool completed, we were missing a skimmer lid, and our electrical breaker to the pool kept flipping a few times a week. It took TWO MONTHS to get a skimmer lid. In the meantime, trying to keep kids from falling in the hole was hard and only semi-successful. It has been THREE MONTHS of contacting Blue Haven about the electrical breaker. It has STILL NOT BEEN FIXED. I've never been so disappointed in a company's customer service. I believe Blue Haven has a motto that states " teamwork is the dreamwork" and I can honestly state that we witnessed the superintendents Jorge Arrevalo, Javier Garcia, and Michael Burnham live by that motto while working on our project. They are the epitome of teamwork. This "teamwork" attitude is what makes this company stand apart. Not once did we witness a lull in work on our project, all due because of the motto they live by. Work consistently kept moving because of the teamwork amongst these fine gentlemen. And our pool designer Ray Houston kept his promise to us to stay with us through the build. He was always quick to respond to my texts and calls. Not once did we feel that our pool would not be what we were hoping for. Our project was completed in record time not only because of our timing in deciding on a pool but, mainly because of the efforts, dedication and hard work put in by everyone that put their hands on our project. Horribly managed company. Signed contract March 1st and now it's about to be August and we still don't have a pool. On our 3rd foreman so I suspect the employees don't like working there either. They have lied to us multiple times and now I can't get a straight answer from them about when my pool will be finished. They have disappeared from the site without even a word for several weeks at a time. I had to hold back payment so they can make any progress at all. Actually I held back payment because they didn't show up for a whole month (mid May to mid June) The place is full of one clown after another. They had no problem making promises to deliver but we are now going on twice as long as they said "the most" it would be. Jerry the head foreman should not be trusted. Pool started in January and is still under construction at this point in late June. They anticipate a mid July completion (very unlikely). The job went weeks without any progress. The average work completed during times a crew would show up was half days 3 days a week. Yes, we have had a lot of rain and it needs time to dry before getting on your yard with equipment. All that is acceptable, but when you have a Superintendent name CARLOS that knows nothing about construction. He can not even answer a question or have a game plan to move forward. They only react and do not move forward proactively. Do not use Blue Haven! You quickly realize once you sign and write the first check, you are not a priority. Ours was started in September and was not finished until middle of March. Multiple screw-ups that they had to fix , some multiple times. Expect little coordination of subs from your PM. We are in love with our pool by Blue Haven Pools. From the very beginning, our salesman Ed Conde was phenomenal. He listened to what we wanted, responded so quickly to our texts or emails, and made signing the contract a breeze. He designed a beautiful pool which echoed what my family and I wanted. Even after the pool was finished, he remained in contact with us. Jerry was our field supervisor and was very patient with us. He responded to our calls and texts whenever we had questions or concerns. He would even come and speak to us the same day if we had any reservations about what was happening. He kept the work flowing and made sure each phase was scheduled ahead of time. Nic and Kelby were great during our "pool school." Everything was explained thoroughly and Nic didn't mind us asking if we could record him while he talked! It's a lot of information, but he broke it down so it made sense to a first time pool owner. It took 11 weeks from dig to dive and that included a spa, grotto, waterfall, and slide. Again, we couldn't be happier! read more

Beware: Once this company has your money, they quickly lose interest in you. I am giving two stars because our pool is beautiful. I ONLY give two stars because customer service after the final check clears is nonexistent. Our pool was built last year. We gave up on them ever doing anything to resolve an issue with the blower for the spa that we called to their attention when the pool was finished. And now we have tiles falling off the waterfall from the spa to the pool. I called it in 10 days ago and had not heard back. I just called again and was told they have ONE guy who handles warranty issues, and he is (naturally) backed up "more than two weeks". I asked if it would be repaired before Memorial Day weekend. The person I spoke with told me he wasn't sure, but he would try to get something done. I called on 5/7. Memorial Day weekend starts 5/25. Tiles keep falling off. Also, don't believe a word the salesman says. I understand that's pretty common among pool companies, though, so whatever. And be prepared to use checks; they charge a steep fee for credit card payments. read more

Blue Haven built our pool about 2 years ago and everything leading up to the build and finish was great. Now, our pool light went out and I called in March to try to have someone come out to fix it. Lady in the service department said to call back in April because their contractor that they use would begin in April with his work on pools. I called back in April like she said and it has been horrible customer service since then. We are going on 3 weeks now and we still have not received a phone call from the contractor. I have called every week since the initial call and every time the young lady in the service department has a new excuse as to why the contractor has not called me back. She claims they are the only one they use and they can't give out his information, so we can't even attempt to try to call him, so we are literally just waiting around until they feel like calling us back. So finally called to speak to a manager and the receptionist put me on hold and then just hung up. When I called back immediately, she acted as if she didn't know what happened and said that the manager was not in his office but I could leave a voice mail. Its sad that the office staff they have don't have the customer service or professionalism that their build crew had. At least follow up with your customers to let them know what the problem is, instead of giving excuses. read more

Do not use Blue Haven, it's been a total nightmare. Jerry, the project manger is completely out of the picture never calls us back and does not keep us in the loop!! Horrible! He even told us to fill our pool then only to have it emptied two days later to pass inspection. The pool process has been so bad, we wish we had gone with Keith Zar and paid more. Our plaster has brown spots too that are being referred to their service department. Never use them!!! You have been warned. I'm sure our pool is not constructed well either. Working with the salesman was pleasant enough, however with a capital expense of this size things should go smoothly. Some of the gravel that was left onsite was spread around on the property, that after complaining they did come out and cover the gravel with soil. Also the skid steer driver ripped up some of the horse fencing that was nearby that I had to pay to have repaired .Overall the workmanship was good except they overlooked the type of handrail going in to the pool and they had to pull out the first one after the pool was finished because the vacuum kept getting tangled on it. I have to say I didn't notice the wrong one being installed either, but they are the professionals. They tried talking me in to leaving it, but I insisted the correct one be installed, which was designed that way so the vacuum wouldn't get tangled on it. They eventually put in the one that was specified which solved the vacuum problem. The hole that was left however, will never match the pool, they say, so it is a bit unsightly. We are waiting now for the plaster folks to come and try to fix it. Next was the vacuum itself. It sits on it's side most of the time and I can't get an answer on how to pressure it up more so that it works correctly. The service folks are hard to get to answer back. I have had to call back two to three times to try to get each of these things worked out, which I feel a customer should not have to do. So overall we love the pool but the devil is in the details and customer service. read more

Do not use Blue Haven Pools! Horrible customer service. Our project manager was rude and never kept us updated with a timeline. Pool sat and sat for weeks with no contact from anyone. We had to go to a manager to get the pool completed and then they rushed through and the subs made a mess of our house. We have concrete sprayed all over our house and fence. They made the equipment pad out of gunite and its awful. Gunite was sprayed all over everything. Its a hot mess. The guys that came and hooked up the pool equipment put greasy hands all over our very light cream house so between the concrete, gunite, and grease/dirt the entire back of our house has to be repainted. We were then strong armed and bullied into signing off that the job was complete and haven't heard a word from them. They are the worst pool company ever. Our salesman was so nice but now I feel like it was a horrible scam. Just waiting on the pool to fall apart now based on other things I have read. read more

If you are black, do not bother. This company does not want your business. February 2018. I contacted Blue Havens pool for renovation of my pool. Wade Alford showed up the same day. We discussed plans and pricing. He sent me a renovation plan. I emailed him back the next day requesting a second meeting in his office with my husband so we can review the plans, and choose plaster and tile. I did not hear back from him. A week later I called Blue Haven pools, a secretary answered and said she would contact Wade. I received a call back from Wade the following day, very rude and unprofessional. He basically said: why are you bothering me? I am In a conference in Florida and I am very busy. He did state I should email him my request for a meeting. The following week I emailed Wade on Thursday, requesting a meeting on Friday. I stated if it is not a good time, could he suggest an alternative time. Wade responded in an email confirming meeting on Friday and 1:00pm and gave me their office address. Well, my husband and I showed up to the meeting, and Wade was not there. Instead he was on the phone talking about how he thought the meeting was next Friday. I had his email in front of me and reminded him of what he wrote. In short: racism = denial of services, even when you have the money to buy it. Never mind the $15000 I was ready to give this company for my pool renovation.
