Disappointed and Frustrated - Would Not Recommend In 2023, Gary's Pool and Patio installed our pool. While the initial pool installation went smoothly, nearly everything that followed has been a huge disappointment. They recommended a subcontractor named Frank to handle the concrete, coping, and installation of three water sheers--this was a major mistake. The concrete work is wavy and has already started cracking. The pool drain is so tight that it's nearly impossible to remove for cleaning. The cool coat applied was so thin that within just a few months, the base texture and color were showing through. Even worse, the $1,800 water sheers are unusable because they leak. Within the first year, the pool pump had to be replaced. The sand filter leaks. I've been reporting an ongoing water loss issue--200 to 300 gallons weekly, even through the winter months--and despite sharing results of a bucket test with Gary's, I've received no response or assistance. No leak detection, no follow-up--nothing. The Cool Coat had to be completely redone, but neither Frank nor Gary's Pool and Patio would stand behind their workmanship. I asked Gary's to price match the Cool Coat, and they came back $175 higher than other vendors. Financing was also a headache. We caught them overcharging us--an obvious billing error that we had to point out. Toward the end, they wanted us to send them the remaining loan funds (around $5,000) and promised to reimburse us. This raised serious red flags, and we were told, "We do this all the time," as if that should have reassured us. "Pool school" was a joke. We paid to learn how to operate and maintain our pool, yet we were never taught how to set up the lighting programs or salt generator. I had to contact Pentair directly to figure it out myself. Bottom line: Gary's Pool and Patio provides decent service until the final payment is made. After that, you're just a number. We do love having a pool, but if we could do it over again, we'd choose a different company. Don't get swayed by the promise of a lifetime shell warranty or quick installation times. My wife and I recently fulfilled a dream of our in getting a pool put in. Unfortunately, only a part of the process was a pleasure. As far as the pool prep and placement, the Gary's staff and project manager were fantastic. The only issue we had was the pool settled after placement but was quickly corrected when we notified Mike, the PM. Our issues began when we were assigned a concrete contractor, which also so happened to be the Gary's sales manager's father's company, Galvan Custom Concrete. The Gary's contract clearly states that the concrete work is completely separate from the pool install contract and you have the option to source your own company...of course, like many I'm sure, I do not have an idea on how to source a concrete company that specializes in pool installs so I relied on Gary's Staff suggestion. After selling us a concrete package, the issues began. There was little communication about the project start. The first pour was completed and they ran out of concrete and came back to finish over a week later. The 13x13 pad we purchased by the pool was terribly constructed, out-of-square and 6 inches or more off of plumb. It took several weeks to correct this issue and more money was charged for services not originally offered in the sales pitch. We were sold on a specific brand of concrete cooling paint but when it came time to apply, the paint was purchased at home depot and far inferior to the original product quoted. Obtaining the product we paid for took another 2-3 weeks and another few dats for application. The painters did a terrible job of masking and overall paint issues on many surfaces other than the pool concrete. Felix Galvan was unprofessional and dishonest in his practice. Felix seemed frustrated that we were asking for corrections and complaining about poor workmanship. He was supposed to send his "Quality Control Guy" but that never happened. I offer this review to warn others to source a better concrete company. Galvan Custom Concrete does not seem to be a legit business or at least they do not have internet and social media presence to leave a review, for obvious reasons. In reading other reviews, we seem to not be the only one's that had issue's with the conflicting interest company offered by Gary's pools and Patio. Gary's seems to "wipe their hand's clean" when it comes to concrete due to the fact that you sign a contract stating they are not involved in this process. Galvan Custom Concrete is the suggested company by Gary's Pool and Patio and, even though separate, still reflects on the pool company, especially with the Family ties to each other. If you don't value quality and money then go with Gary's. It cost over $75k to have this pool done only for us to not be able to enjoy the hot tub during the winter months Starting in 2021 due to the heater failing and not getting replaced by then for 9 months! Then when summer came we were not able to enjoy the splash pad because they failed to fill in under it so the weight of the water caused the fiberglass to sag. This was not repaired until late March of 2022 where they poorly filled the concrete back in leaving big cut lines in the concrete and a lot of concrete chunks from the repair work that they were suppose to take with them and said they would be back for. Overall, my experience with Garys Pool and Patio was a positive one. Let me first note that when I initially began my pool process, the whole Covid thing was just starting and it did impact the production process somewhat, but not immensely. There were, however, some delays in getting my pool shell completed by the manufacturer. With that being said, I am very happy with the final product. I chose a 12x26 foot fiberglass pool design. It was very simple and straightforward being able to choose what pool I wanted and with what options. The crews came out and dug for the pool and within several weeks, they returned to set the shell in the ground. The foreman, Mike, was very knowledgeable. He was also very friendly and easy to talk to about the process. He answered questions quickly and I was confident that he would always follow through with what he said. Carlos, my salesperson, was very patient with me as I did ask a lot of questions. After the crew finished setting up the pool, it was prepared for the concrete deck. The concrete guys did leave a bit of a mess in the pool, but it was taken care of by Mike and his crew. In the end, everything was just as I had imagined it would be. My family and I love our pool, and have found a new love for the whole backyard in general. As with any large project, there are always going to be a few bumps along the way. But all was worked out to my satisfaction. If I had it to start over again knowing what I do now, I don't think much if anything would change. Maybe just that I would have started the project sooner. But I loved the thought of having my pool so much, and constantly raved about it at work, that a coworker of mine got a pool from Garys as well. read more

Would really caution anyone using Gary's pool and patio. The initial quote is really a bait and lure you into signing up with them. All of the workers are subcontractors that you have to hire and supervise. Never will a Gary's pool employee be on your property to supervise a project. Example: Crane quote: $1100. Actually cost that I additionally had to pay to crane company on top of the $1100 a whopping $3370 more. Electrical. Quote. $850. Real price owed extra to electrical company $5500. Gas line: Quote $ 1400. Real price $3500. Realize all are contractors that you negotiate with on behalf of Gary's pools for them to put in your pool. The worst company to deal with. We had them do our pool last spring and have so many problems. We got a lot of promises and we still have a pool with stress marks and cracked decks. Their contractors Fidencio Niño was the worst. Got his money and never came back and kept sending subs and never came back to fix the cracked concrete decks. Had them install a pool about a year ago. All management and personnel were a pleasure to seal with and I am very happy with their service and the final product. I will caution others from using some of their contractors, specifically Alamo Home Pro. The owner was always late, when he showed up. The job itself was extremely sub-par. Holes appeared in the concrete within a month of the final pour. Owner Mr. Lopez had said he would return to repair and we haven't heard from him since. More holes have appeared since. I do not see this as a reflection on Gary's, although they might consider another subcontractor. read more

We used them for two years and Chris was our fantastic pool guy. Every week he kept our pool sparkling while monitoring all the equipment. We trusted and loved his amazing work ethic. If we had opened a business I would would have actively recruited him for anything. Aaaand then he moved over to the repair side of the business. He introduced the gal who would be taking his spot. It was winter so we didn't need her often so experienced no issues.In early spring our pool went bright green and stayed that way for two and a half months.We replaced everything she recommended and she would put chemical in take two swipes with the vacuum and leave until the next week. Each month she had more things to fix and more chemical. The problem being her not actually sucking up the algae after it settled to the bottom from the algicide. Fast forward another six weeks and I was beside myself furious over the quality of service. Each time we called the woman on the phone would tell us it wasn't the girls fault and that we needed to go easier on her suggesting we buy a brush to clean it ourselves. If I hadn't paid them for the cleaning service it was a good suggestion. I gave them another two weeks to have it crystal clear and again given excuses as to why she can't come more then twice to vacuum and that their service guy suggested we drain scrape and start over at a five hundred dollar cost to us! I've never been treated more disrespectful by any service provider in the two countries I've lived in. They eventually got my pool right because we started taking pictures of the actual vacuum marks she did and sending them in to the woman who took calls and who was protective of crappy pool service technician. We changed to another company and it's even cheaper and they keep my pool perfect and we don't have to argue at all. read more

Terrible quality and service. They ruined the whole lawn and sprinkler system by using the heavy machinery after the heavy rain instead of following the procedure. They rushed the whole project and didn't care about the quality of their work which ended with a lot of problems. Would never want to deal with this company ever again! I definitely trust these fellows. I started on a pool project that eventually used 8 products, and over 100 hours of labor. Every time I went in for advice and assistance, sometimes to recover from big mistakes I got useful and doable answers. When a product I needed was available elsewhere for less they recommended. The project turned out great and I think I got the best advice. I even take my pool water here for analysis because they don't try to sell me anything I don't need.
