First visit a few months ago was very good: terrific service, great timely food. Would give 3 stars for that visit. Just returned on aThursday evening -- terrible experience. Took well over an hour to get food (with 5:00 arrival time), refills on drinks -- not, waitress had an attitude & no communication with our table, & crab cake too well done. I love this place. The food is fantastic, the prices are very reasonable, the atmosphere has charm (it's now in an old pottery building; originally Stangl Pottery in the 1800's), and the owners are friendly. If going with a friend and you're both in the mood for fish tacos, get two different types and split them, as each dish comes with two individually "wrapped" tacos, making swapping easy. We love the calamari, mussels, burgers, pulled pork, BFG tacos and they always have great specials like the mahi mahi burrito! We just had their buffalo wings last night and they were delicious!! BFG has been a Flemington staple for quite some time now. It's new location is more open with a great outside area perfect for people watching. The tacos are the best and the fries are amazing. It's BYOB but they do serve local wines so if you are interested in trying one of the area's great vineyards, this is the way to do it. You can never go wrong with a meal here and service is always efficient and the food comes out fast. read more

Loved this restaurant! I had the Latin Mahi bowl which was fresh, the fish was perfectly cooked and the flavors worked well together. Would come back just for this. My son had the mussels and the sauce that was in the dish was outstanding. We ate it with a spoon and wanted more. Our sever was just terrific. We'll be back soon. Having passed BFG countless times after leaving the nearby outlet stores, my husband and I decided to finally try it out - I'm glad we did! We stopped in for lunch and ordered fish tacos/burritos. We both were pleased with our dishes...light, fresh, and tasty. As it was early in the day, the restaurant was empty, but I sensed it had a laid back vibe. Server was friendly and attentive, but gave us space (not staring us down like some servers tend to do if its "slow"). Moderately priced for a weekend lunch. read more

The most amazing place I have ever eaten. If you have not been there please to now! They have an amazing staff. The hostess is a sweetheart and she has my order memorized when I call for take out. Their half and half is homemade. That's half iced tea half lemonade. Their French fries have and incredible seasoning on them. They are also super great with my gluten allergy. We have been here twice. Both times have been great. Great variety, fresh fish, great sides and specials. Very friendly, outgoing, down to earth server (forget his name) who was quick and on point. We popped in yesterday late afternoon. Very friendly and quick service. They had interesting specials but in the end we ordered off the main menu. The big fish burrito was just what I wanted! It was a balance of flavors and tasted fresh! The other plate was the catfish Po-boy. They were out of catfish and were subbing grouper. Still a good sandwich! They have cute thin cut fries that are well seasoned. Def will be trying this little place again! read more

I can't say enough good things about Blue Fish. I could eat cardboard if it was served with their garlic pesto butter. The only downside is its not larger and can't fit as many patrons as other restaurants. read more

The food is amazing. We have never had anything we didn't like. Kareem is our favorite server and does not disappoint. He always remembers my kids and what they order and we only eat here in the summer when visiting my parents. Very disappointed in my latest visit. BFG was my go-to spot in Flemington. It was a place that you could of always counted on for good food and great service. Last night, our server was not friendly and the food was mediocre. I ordered the LA tacos, nothing to brag about. I was extremely disappointed to find the menu has changed and not for the better. The menu itself is on flimsy paper and is not designed in a flattering way. The icing on the cake was everything is now a la carte, which that alone is enough to make me not want to go back. I really hope BFG figures all of this out. read more

I was given wrong price for the special which turned out $3 more and felt expensive for the amount of food I was served, although good I felt it was sparse. Would it hurt to serve a basket of rolls. The Blue Fish Grill catered my wedding on July 30, 2011 and it was amazing. The food and catering staff was fantastic and all of our guests were raving about it for days! Funny story, when I first told my father I wanted the Blue Fish to cater the wedding he said sounds good, but he did not know the restaurant. I already knew how great the food was, but he wanted to see for himself. So one day last October we went out to do some wedding errands in the New Hope area. He said he knew a great place for lunch we could stop at and then hit Blue Fish for dinner later on. We finished our wedding errands and he begins to drive us towards Flemington. He pulls up in front of Blue Fish and I said, "Dad I thought we were going to come here later for dinner." He said "Where later?" I said, "Blue Fish Grill". He said "THIS IS THE PLACE THAT IS GOING TO CATER THE WEDDING?! I LOVE THIS PLACE. I DIDN'T KNOW THIS IS WHERE YOU MEANT?!" We had a good laugh. He had been coming to Blue Fish for the past 6 months and didn't put it together. He takes all his friends to eat there. The restaurant is so great! I recommend it to anyone who wants a good meal in or around the Flemington area. Thanks for making my wedding day so memorable! read more

The Blue Fish Grill is a favorite of ours. We go regularly and enjoy it when ever we are there. They did change their menu a couple months ago separating into lunch and dinner menus. The prices did go up for the dinner menu, but still worth the money. Dinner for my wife and I is usually in the $60-80 range depending on the number of courses. I love the salmon teriyaki, which is ironic since I never enjoyed salmon before. My wife is a fan of the Latin Mahi Bowl. Specials are available every night. Specials are a little more pricier, but always good. When they have Korean Chicken Wings, they are always ordered and usually with a second order to go home. I wish they would have them more often or even add them to the menu. Desserts are a little disappointing. The Key Lime Pie is made on premises and is very good, but it is the only dessert. They have opened the coffee shop next to the restaurant and have various desserts there. I wish they would bring some of them into the restaurant to complete the meal. That is the sole reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. I would like to be able to complete my meal with some different desserts. read more

Love, love, love this restaurant. Went there last night for my husband's birthday. We all have our 'favorites' from the regular menu, but the specials sounded so good, we tried those too. The scallop ceviche was delicious as was everything else. Pace of the meal was good - not hurried/rush and the service was excellent. Karim is the greatest waiter ever! We've had him before and he was equally great, so now I'll request wherever he's working when I make my reservations. We had coffee and dessert in the bakery next door and sat inside the kiln which was perfect on a winter's evening, it was so warm and cozy. We really enjoyed the whole evening and will definitely be back again (soon!). read more

It was one of those summer Saturdays when the wife and I were all grungified from doing yard work and so we didn't feel like cooking. She suggested we go to Blue Fish Grill for dinner, so we each caught a quick shower, got into casual clothing, and headed into the center of Flemington. We've been to the Blue Fish Grill several times, and it is always a favorite. As a special treat this time, we sat outside on a nice night and we had Karim as our server. This guy is rapidly becoming a Flemington celebrity, and I think he will easily surpass Archie at Shoprite as the biggest local personality. Karim suggested I try the chili, which the chef only makes a few times a year and adds ribs as the meat. It was exquisite! My wife had the scallop taco special, and I had the Tokyo tacos. As always, to food didn't disappoint. But back to Karim. I marveled as he moved from table-to-table, engaging the customers. He remembered one guy from a few months ago and even what he ate. He told interesting stories to everyone, and before I knew it he and my wife were speaking French with one another. It was a pleasant meal and a good way to start a Saturday night in Flemington. We walked to main street and enjoyed at the classic cars, with the taste of Blue Fish Grill still on our lips. read more

When in Flemington NJ Blue Fish Grill is a must stop!!!! I had a cup of tomato soup, Kale Cesar Salad and the Teriyaki Salmon for dinner. Service was great as the team of servers were truly a team and stopped by my table to check in, fill my ice tea, and clear plates accordingly. All of my food was excellent and what I like is when a chef puts his own unique seasonings on common dishes and makes them taste to me like it's the first time I've ever had them. Because of my job I travel across the entire country and this place I rank in my top 5 of salmon dishes I've ever had. When I asked to substitute the rice for a vegetable the waitress suggested having it over asparagus and I'm so happy she did because it tasted fantastic. some chefs are so picky and don't allow subs but it didn't seem like a problem at all here so kudos for them for being accommodating. I know I will be back and if I'm lucky my work will bring me to this area many times in the future. Thanks Blue Fish for great service and a great meal. We have eaten at Blue Fish Grill on several occasions and each time it has been excellent. Everything is delightfully fresh, artfully presented and the casual ambiance is most enjoyable. We have been fortunate to have Careem as our server most of the time and he is wonderful! Not only is he thoroughly knowledgeable on the menu selections and the specials, but he has a terrific personality and a great sense of humor. He offers recommendations which are always excellent and remains attentive to the patrons through the dining experience. When it came time to pick a spot for my son's bar mitzvah, choosing Blue Fish Grill to cater at the Stangl Stage facility was a no-brainer. I've been going to the Blue Fish Grill since they first opened on Central Avenue, and later at the newly renovated Stangl Factory, and I have always had a wonderful meal and great service whenever I have dined with them. When Stangl Stage opened in the same building, I attended and enjoyed many Flemington Rocks concerts at the community venue there. I'm a proud supporter of Flemington businesses, so the choice was obvious for me to use Blue Fish Grill to cater my son's event at Stangl Stage. Kelly worked with me on the menu, the layout, connected me with the DJ, spoke with my photographer (the amazing Black Lab Studios on Main Street) ahead of time to give him the lay of the land, and gave me free rein to spend days on a ladder hanging fairy lights and paper lanterns. Her fabulous Factory Fuel restaurant, also on site, kept me going with great espresso and provided delicious treats for my boys as we tidied up and decorated. The night of the event, the wait staff was attentive, the food was delicious, and I didn't have to worry about a thing except enjoying myself and my guests. I highly recommend Blue Fish Grill's food and service - both at the restaurant and as an off-site caterer. read more
