Best lunch specials around town! Battered fries are ridiculously good! I always get the beef shawerna which is awesome. Comes wirh smapl side salad. Everything else on menu is great. BYO so its good. Went to lunch a couple of weeks ago; tonight for dinner. Both times the food was pretty good. The service on the other hand is an absolute joke. Communicating the simplest requests is difficult. You mention your favorite dessert and they tell you it's not being served tonight, only to find out that one of your dinner mates ordered it! The staff isn't even sure of what is on their own menu. If the service improves I might change my rating to 4 or 5 stars. Maybe they're having a hard time finding quality servers as a result of COVID? read more

We were excited about having another BYOB dining option in our area. Although we arrived at 7:30 on a busy Saturday night, we were seated prompty and brought some nice pita and olive tapenade. We quickly ordered the Mutabel appetizer which had a creamy texture and a wonderful smokey flavor. Our competent server cheerfully brought us more pita when requested. Our next course was the Greek and the Blue Fig salads which were fresh and delicious with a light dressing and way too big for one person -these can easily be shared. For the main course, I ordered the Blue Fig Signature dish which is a combination of chicken, beef andf kufta kabobs along with two lamb chops - quite a bit of food for one person. The chicken was melt-in-your-mouth tender and wonderfully seasoned as was the kufta. Unfortunately, the beef cubes were quite chewy and the lambchops were kind of gristly. My partner enjoyed the grilled salmon although it was initially undercooked and had to be sent back. We declined on the desserts. Aside from being full, our table afforded us the opportunity to watch one of the servers get desserts from the case and noticed her very long hair dangling in everything she was bringing out. We really wanted to like this restaurant since there are few above average dining opportunities in this area. So good. I had no idea this jewel had replaced the bagel joint near Centerton, and I am so glad that it did. Inside the Blue Fig is beautifully decorated with a balance of colors, art, a cool ceiling design. My mom & I sat near the window where we could watch the rain pour down on the outdoor tables and chairs. It was easy to picture an evening meal with BYOB wine outdoors later in the year. Meanwhile, we were cozy & comfortably inside. We came in on an off-time, past lunch time on a weekday. Our waitress was lovely. She was polite, efficient, and attentive. My mom and I started with the hummus and I was super excited to see halloum (cheese) on the appetizer list. Asked if we wanted it fried or grilled, we asked if they'd do both and she immediately obliged. The dish comes with 4 pieces of halloum and 4 slices of tomato. For the record, I liked the grilled better. The hummus was the lightest, airiest, and generally best hummus I've had in a long time, possibly ever. There is a wealth of options on the menu. I wanted to return when I saw the menu, and the desire tripled after eating the food. I ordered the falafel, which came as 4 falafels in pita quarters with tomato, lettuce, and tahini sauce. It was delicious. There were also fries, which were piping hot & not really of any interest to me. In addition, there was a small salad of tomatoes and peppers on the side (of the plate). I dream about their Fattush Salad.... When I think about Middle Eastern Cuisine, I think fresh, bright, vibrant food... This place delivers and then some. The prices are crazy reasonable and the portions are huge. You could order 3 appetizers and one salad for 3 people and be full. The hummus is the best I've had. The babaghanoush (sp) is different than most... If you want more traditional then get the mutabel. Their deconstructed falafel sandwich is heaven and their tajens are super comforting (tomato based stews). Dessert??? The owner's wife makes them herself and they are all fresh. I have been meaning to write a review for a while but an experience today finally got me motivated. First the good: this is a favorite place. Home cooking, lamb chops succulent enough to dream about, fantastic juice drinks including my personal favorite lemon juice with mint and home made deserts with dining here all on their own. This place is "slipping". My original lunch visits here were excellent. My most recent lunch visit--what a change! Place was not crowded-table I was shown to had food residue from previous diners (details folks!) They do not give you the delicious olive tapenade and pita bread pre meal that we have received on previous visits. Lunch portions are skimpier. The side salad that came with my gyro sandwich was in a ceramic container they use for holding catsup. Food was bland. The ice tea was so weak it tasted like water. Waiter could have cared less! Never came back to table to check if I needed anything or ask how everything was. Will not be returning. read more

I have had Mediterranean food all over the world, and this place is the worst I have ever had. The food was tasteless. I had to get hot sauce to finish my meal. The service was even worse. So I tried this place out on an unexpected lunch visit and I was surprised...The only reason why this place did not recieve a 5 was because the service was slow. I ordered the Caesar salad and a fresh squeezed juice of lemon and mint. The combination of lemon and mint was interesting and I was glad that I chose the drink. the juice was fresh and tangy and was just the right amount of mint in it. I'll never come back. Our server was a bit the most attentive, the pita was cold and I asked for them to go light on the parsley and they didn't listen. I politely sent it back and when the server told the chef or whatever the hell he is, you can hear him yelling 'that's how you make that salad!' He then comes marching out to the table w/ the salad in his hand and goes on to explain to me how the salad is made and how it's a key ingredient to which I said I understood but said it was just overpowering. I got a Greek salad instead which I could have made at home. Also, I had initially for a falafel wrap which I saw listed on the lunch menu and they refused to make it. Delicious! We came right at 11:30AM on a Friday, so the food was especially fresh (compared to some of the other reviews). We ordered the hummus & the Blue Fig Special. The rice was fluffy and yummy. The meats were perfectly seasoned and juicy. I ended up ordering a shish kabob to go; that beef was the best ever. One star down for the hair in my hummus and the dirty knife in my rolled napkin. I would say my lamb kebab was great, my pistachio baklava was delicious and my wife's shrimp was ok. Her desert was coconut cake, just ok. My appetizer was hummus with extra and it was delicious. Nothing was spectacular, and nothing was bad at all. I would say the real down side was when we were done with our meal, it appeared the owner had our waitress doing other tasks, possibly for Valentine's Day tables. It appeared it took her a long time to come back around. And that took the fluff out of the sails for this place. I would go back for late lunch, but maybe not on such a busy day. We're big Mediterranean food fans and are so happy to see this local spot open up. From our recent meal, I would recommend: - Tour of Lebanon (Hummus, taboulih and baba ghanouj) comes with warm Pita. The hummus, like others have said, is really creamy and delicious. This is a nice size appetizer for 3 or 4 people to share. - Greek Salad. It's a large chopped salad with no lettuce. Very fresh vegetables! - Moussaka - So flavorful and all around amazing! I had the Stuffed Bell Peppers (which I do not recommend - they were flavorless and boring) and ended up eating most of this dish off my Mom's plate. - The desserts! The Knafeh was warmed and fantastic. We were told that the desserts are homemade. They all looked beautiful. All and all we'll be back. Next time I'll order the Moussaka for sure! Restaurant has great Mediterranean fare - seems focused from Lebanon though overlap with Greek and Turkish is pretty high. We enjoyed the dips, kebobs, fish, and much more. My complaint would be the service is a little slow despite it not being a very big restaurant. We came in for a late dinner with a family of six, including young children, so this was a bigger deal than normal. Things like filling water glasses and getting the food out in a timely way - event after asking to bring things as soon as they were ready because of the kids - was a miss. All in all, I would consider going back because the food is quite good, but they need to figure how to amp up the service. read more

The hummus is extra smooth and creamy with a lot of flavor. The falafel are super crispy outside and just the right texture inside. Flavorful without being overpowering. The tahini sauce is nicely balanced with lemon and garlic, and is not at all strong like most tahini can be. For main course my wife and I shared the Blue Fig Signature Dish which is a sample of chicken kebab, shish kebab, kofta kebab, and a lamb chop. It was served with a skewer of grilled vegetables and a bed of couscous. Flavors were outrageous. My favorites were the kofta and the lamb chop. My wife devoured the shish kebab and chicken. Really like the chicken/steak shawarma wrap served with rice from their lunch menu. The warm pita bread and olive spread is also really great! Update: They have completely ruined the shawarma wrap- I'm a pretty regular patron of this place and I always order the same thing. They removed all the veggies and the tahini sauce and have replaced it with a TERRIBLE conventional wrap with grill marks stuffed with meat only- very upsetting- my usual has been ruined :( read more

My friend and I went to dinner on Valentine's Day here. The restaurant was very cramped. At first I thought it would be a pleasant night because they had a gift at every table for patrons. Our waitress was extremely pushy and we felt rushed from the moment we sat down. It was as though we had to eat and leave without time to chat and catch up. When we got our check the waitress literally said "I'm sorry but I have to ask you to leave because there are people waiting" which caught us completely off guard. There are several busier establishments in the area that never make you feel this unwelcome. The food itself unfortunately is not a saving grace for this place. The food overall was very dry. This is probably my 5th time coming here. Service was not great this time as it has been in the past. There was only one server waiting tablea even though other people were there. He (Khaled) was nice but answered most questions with "I don't know" which isn't particularly helpful. And he would forget things like wine glasses and water refills. A few of my girlfriends and I went here the other night after our weekly rock climbing session. We were celebrating a birthday and had a good time. The waitress was prompt in giving us all wine glasses (that's almost a 5 star bonus in my book!). Food - Pretty good! The only reason I'm not saying fantastic was because we all agreed that our kebob's meat was either too chewy or too dry. We had a mixture of the lamb and chicken selections. The salads we got were fantastic though! I don't even remember the name of the cheese that was on one of them, but it was great! Oh and the desserts? Baklava made by someone's mother? Heck yah! Restaurant -Very clean, small space but they weren't full so it wasn't uncomfortable at all. Service - Our waitress was overall very nice! In the beginning it seemed like she was trying to rush us, but after she got the hint that we were going to be a while, she gave us our space. The food came out in a timely manner and she very helpfully answered all of our questions about the courses and dessert. Will definitely go back! I love baklava but this may have been the worst I've ever had. I loved my smoothie and the eggplant dish was pretty good, but come on . . . a Greek restaurant with bad baklava does a disservice to the country of such delicious food. It looked pretty when it came out on a plate with dribbles of chocolate across and powdered sugar but the knife that came with it made me immediately suspicious. And yes, I needed it as the bottom layer was like hard cardboard. Basically it was inedible and I should have said something . . . but I did my best, probably out of disbelief hoping the next bite would be better, and because it was expensive: $6.99. It fell apart in layers and an actual bite could not be cut. I even looked at the knife to see if it had a serrated edge. It did. Whether this was two weeks old or just a bad batch, I don't know. I almost never write reviews but when a favorite desert of mine is trashed this bad, I had to. Nice atmosphere and the authentic Greek accents of the staff made me question even more how they could serve such an abomination. Ordered delivery, I love very closer. Ordered the Burak, tasted well, but came surrounded in brown lettuce. 3 tiny pieces. The baklava was under cooked, not crispy and quite dry. My kebab came with no sauce and the rice was hard. Overall underwhelmed, wouldn't order again. read more
