On the Grill does't look like much from the outside but it was surprisingly good. It is located in a nondescript and quiet strip mall off of route 130. My Chicken Giro platter was excellent and so was their Lentil soup. Service was extremely friendly. The interior has a nice and simple Turkish vibe and was clean and pleasant. Prices were reasonable. Definitely worth a visit.

    Adana Kebab and Kavali Kabab

This is the most hospitable place I've ever been. The servers are kind patient and so loving. The ambiance is so inviting and upbeat. And to top it off the food is delicious and authentic. GO TO THIS RESTAURANT.

    Amazing Turkish sweets

I absolutely love on the grill!!! Definitely my favorite restaurant for Turkish cuisine on the East Coast. They make the most amazing fresh baked Pide and lahmajun!!! The gyro and kebab is very authentic and full of flavor. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My favorite thing about this restaurant is the events with live music that take place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff is incredible and very accommodating with catering services, which I have ordered multiple times. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great food.

Honestly, I don't know why I keep coming back here. Probably because they have such great service. The pide is absolutely delicious, but incredibly expensive for what it is. The mixed grill is usually a miss. The meats are gamey and usually undercooked. The chicken, which is seasoned better, is also, believe it or not, also usually undercooked. The waitstaff is so welcoming and warm, especially the older blonde woman, who I can only assume is the owner.

    Kedana kabob

My favorite place to eat. It's so amazing every time. The wait staff is consistent and very sweet people working here. Iskander, Lamachun, and baba ghanoush are my favorites. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very fairly priced and very clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Falafel sandwich

Ordered falafel and Adana chicken sandwich. The chicken was tasty and it had lettuce, onions, and tomatoes. However, the falafel sandwich was just sad. I know every place makes difference, but I thought lettuce, tomatoes, and onions were standard.

I always check the reviews on Yelp before going first time any restaurant. I did same routine again yesterday before going to 'On the Grill'. Be honest, I had concerns after reading reviews. My friend recommended this restaurant and we went there together. It was lunch time and only 1 table was available. We ordered Turkish style mix pizza (karisik pide). It was absolutely fabulous and very very delicious. I ordered one more to go because I just loved it. Our waitress was very kind. The prices was also very reasonable. I gave this restaurant 5 star because the food was so good and clean. My other reason is I feel very comfortable with the social distance in this restaurant. Many restaurants doesn't care social distance, they just care about to put extra tables outside. Next time I'm going to try some other foods there and hopefully I can stop myself not to order again 'pide'. Stay healthy and keeping social distance, please.

Overall nice experience. Tasty food, highly recommend Adana kebab and salad. There was something playing on the TV that was not very family friendly so didn't really appreciate that, maybe they can be more careful about it moving forward. However, excited to go back and try more dishes.

Very nice to have a Turkish restaurant that is 10/10 without having to go to Patterson. This place exceeded my expectations. I will be back

Excellent food, occasional live music nights, very friendly and fast service, very nice modern decor, and is a non-smoking establishment.

Walking in the restaurant wasn't busy at all and it was pristine. There were plenty open tables and no line so I was able to order quickly at with ease. All of the toppings for the bowls looked delicious and absolutely fresh so I made my own concoction with chicken schwarma, super greens, brown rice and literally 10 other toppings including lentils, tzatziki, cucumber salad, olives, couscous and a partridge in a pear tree lol. Soooooo many options all delicious. They also make their crispy pita chips to order so I added a portion to my meal and happily waited the 2-3 minutes for them to be dropped and fried to the perfect golden crispy consistency. I also got the cucumber mint refresher which was sugar free and refreshing! My entire meal was delicious and I'm honestly thinking about the next time I'll be able to go back because it was not just a yummy lunch but pretty healthy overall minus those pita chips ;) Oh and the customer service was wonderful as well.

I eat pretty plainly, so I only had rice with some chicken and a "glob" of hummus. (There were MANY other toppings!) I wasn't t crazy about the chicken seasoning and it kept repeating on me. Again though, not my favorite fare no matter where from. The chicken I had was very tender; the rice was cooked perfectly. I wont be a patron here, but if you like Mediterranean food, you'll probably love this place!

We had the cold sampler which was very tasty. I don't know everything I ate but I did enough most of them. The hummus was my favorite. I have no idea what it was called, but the one that was slightly spicy and had a similar flavor to a Mexican salsa was a surprise and a delight. I loooooooved the fluffy bread that was served to the table. Fresh, steaming hot, and the perfect utensil for testing out the dips. I'm not sure what it was called - it wasn't a pita, I don't think, since it was much lighter. But 10/10, no notes, give me 14 of them. I was craving beef, so I went for the shish kebab. Hands down, one of the most memorable I've had in a very long time. So tender. I loved the perfectly grilled vegetables. I absolutely loved adored the rice - so well seasoned, light and fluffy. Finally, baklava. I would say this was my only disappointment. The serving was miniscule. Service was lovely.

We found out that most of the people (regulars) who usually come here are on their vacation season so it was not an issue getting a six-top reservation with only a day's notice. The restaurant is huge with at least two mega rooms downstairs and one upstairs. We actually went to the upstairs door to check in only to be told we had to go to the downstairs door and check in there. Once we did, the staff asked if we would be ok with being in the "party" room where there would be a DJ. We were fine with that and the staff was more than happy to accommodate us. Once at our table, the extensive menus made it almost too difficult to decide what we wanted. May want to consider reducing the food options here. My wife and I split a tomahawk steak. Once we ordered it, we were told we should probably move to an eight-top because we would have more space. The place was almost empty at 6:15pm on a Saturday so we got to move and give us some more room. We also had two serving of Plov, a prime NY strip, a roasted beet salad, and a chicken fingers with fries. We added some bread, too, along with some compote. The Plov was some of the best we've ever had with lots of tender meat. Both steaks were cooked to our liking. Fries were killer and the chicken fingers were fine. I did not care for the compote as I'm used to it with fruit still in the drink. At about 7pm, the DJ started but there was no separate party which is what we thought was going to show up. The DJ sang some and played up-tempo dance music but also threw in some known music like Ob-Bla-Dee Ob-Bla-Dah from the Beatles also in the dance music style. So much fun after drinking a lot of our BYOB alcohol. Service was excellent and more than accommodating for us. He even advised when we were getting ready to leave that it was raining hard and we could stay until it died down. The restaurant is colorful with lights and designs on the walls including projector lights and white linen sheets above. The place was clean and also the bathrooms on the lower rear level. $305 not including tip for six adults which included two steaks, two Plov, chicken fingers with fries, three breads, and a compote. I mention a lot with my reviews that I'd come back to a place. I really can't wait to return to Samarkand! It was just a lot of fun with excellent food and service. I hope it's just as good when the place is slammed and full.
