Toward the middle-back of the convenience store, lies Pita's. Sweet staff in a clean looking kitchenette. So many menu options. I like how you can see the meats vertically cooking too. My lentil soup and steak quesadilla were both very good! The soup was aromatic, thick, and tasty! My quesadilla was a bit greasy, but a napkin blot took care of that one. The steak was so darn tender! My son's big brown eyes all but popped out of his head when he saw the beautiful falafel platter that I brought home for him! HE LOVED EVERYTHING!!! What a delicious delightful surprise! This little gem is inside the Lukeoil gas station quick marketplace. Past the grab and go items in the back is where you'll find the cheerful staff who were very patient with me as I ask questions about the menu. I settled on the chicken orzo soup which was like my grandma's. Velvety smooth and loaded with chicken, carrots and celery and onions. The pita sandwich I chose was the lamb. It was delicious by itself, but when my toppings ( lettuce, cucumber and tomatoes, feta, onions,) were added along with tahini sauce it delivered to a new level. Hot sauce on the side so I could control that next level experience.... sandwich was big and the pita was beyond good. Located inside of the Gas Station mini mart. We got there right before the restaurant part closed. We ordered a chicken kabob gyro. The pita was nice and soft and full of chicken, tzatziki, cucumber and tomato salad and lettuce. We ate outside at one of the tables. It was very good and flavorful. Surprisingly good schwarma from a gas station. As many before have placed it, this is a diamond in the rough locale. It's a gas station restaurant with proper kofta, schwarma, skewers, and falafel. You get big flavors for a reasonable price, all fresh made and absolutely delicious. This is a great place for a quick bite or a platter if you want a meal. The portions are generous, and the food is well prepared. I rate this place a 4 because of the location. If you try to get here via gps and miss a turn then it's a 15 minute trek to get back here. So you need to know where you're going or else you end up wasting lots of time. Also the entrances are not the easiest to spot and the wrong exit will add another 10-15 minutes to your trek. But if you do manage to make the trip and know exactly what to look for, you'll be rewarded with solid meals from a gas station. Worth a try if you're in the area. read more

3.5-4 I think I ordered the lamb shawarma platter but I didn't see that as an option on the online menu. I pass this place every time I come home from work after getting off the turnpike. It is definitely located inside a gas station mart but don't let that deter you. Portion size was big, food was very flavorful and the little side salad part was full of little extras that you don't always get depending on where you go. Meat was cooked nicely and seasoned. Driving around on 'E' with no shame, I was fortunate enough to pull into this gas station... Even with the turnpike within feet of this gas station, I'm the only person at the pumps needing gas! Yet the parking lot in front of the convenience store here is full of cars... My interest got the best of me, so i parked and walked in... There was a line of people waiting for shawarma, gyros, kabobs, and several types of halal platters.. I saw someone ordering a stewed beef platter with rice and salad... No more debating what I wanted. I ordered three! One for me, and two for my daughters... This meal was beyond delicious. The prices are good, but I wish the food was better. First off all their pita sandwiches come with beets in it- which I was not expecting but luckily I like them. Their babaganoush tasted straight like garlic. You couldn't taste anything else at all. We had to mix it with the hummus for it to even taste good enough to eat. A stroll past the frozen slushies and lottery tickets brings one to a classic, no frills counter with a simple menu. I opted for the pita pocket, since that is the name of the restaurant after all. I have driven past this service station quite a few times. Who would think that one could find good tasting Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food inside a gas station/convenience store on Route 73? And Pita Pocket and More is Halal. We ordered the chicken shawarma platter, a lamb pita sandwich and lentil soup. The platter came with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, beets, rice and a yogurt sauce. I had a little hot sauce added also. The chicken was delicious, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The size of the platter was huge. The lamb pita was also excellent and the pita bread was outstanding. The Lentil soup was very good also. I was a little shocked with how good everything was. There are three tables for eating in. Excellent and unexpected food from a gas station? Yes! Seems like it just shares the same real estate as the Lukoil gas station there. But, it's nestled in the back. A hidden gem. Don't expect the thinly shaved meat of Schwarma. You'll get succulent chunks of grilled chicken, lamb or beef. Together with the fresh, fresh vegetables and tzakiki sauce and the folded warm pita, and you've got yourself a perfect sandwich. I happened to visit for the first time over a year ago, timing was concurrent with the Greek festival in Cherry Hill. Able to make a direct comparison between the Festival's homemade Gyros, prepared by members of the Greek Orthodox church that hosted the festival. And the Gyros from Pita Pocket. These Gyros from Pita Pocket were far superior than anything found at the festival. Happened to go again, concurrent with the Greek festival, a year later, and this time the Gyros at the festival were made by a Commercial food truck franchise. No comparison whatsoever. The festival Gyro offerings were a complete waste of money. (Luckily they had homemade Baklava to counteract that). Pita Pocket is the real deal. I go here 2x a month, at a minimum. read more

My fiancé and I stopped here on our way home from Florida to get gas before going home to New York, the way overpriced gas should've been our red flag to go somewhere else but against my better judgement, I went inside. I went back and grabbed another one and that one was open as well, gross) I went back to the car and realized I forgot to get a drink for my daughter. I walked back in and saw these really small and cute apple juice drinks that had Disney characters on them, listed for $1.29. Great. I grabbed 3 (Moana, Minnie and Olaf) my daughters favorites! I head to the counter and a different man is there. He scans my stuff and tells me my total is $11.97. I do the math in my head and I realize it doesn't add up. I said there must be a mistake, those drinks are priced at $1.29 and x3 that doesn't add up to $11.97. He laughed in my face, scanned the drink again and said sorry, they're $3.99. I explained to him that they were priced on the shelf for $1.29 and he told me I was mistaken and assured me he wasn't giving me a "discount". That's when I laughed, I wasn't looking for a discount. I was looking to pay the price on the shelf that was listed. We paid $89 to fill the rest of our car and spent an additional $30 on snacks, 4 minutes before this. Clearly I wasn't scamming, it's called good business practice. He told me I was wrong multiple times to which I told him to go look for himself. He went over to the shelf and shifted the $1.29 label over to other drinks on the shelf. Now, me being me I had already taken a picture of the shelf the first time he told me I was wrong because I knew I wasn't. I went back up to the front with him and he told me he wasn't budging and kept laughing at me. I told him I wanted them and I wasn't looking for an argument. My daughter had just sat in the car for a whole car ride from Disney to this place, she deserved a cute surprise. When he saw I wasn't leaving, he offered to call the manager. I said go ahead. He walks back over to the shelf and shifts the label over to other drinks and proceeded to FaceTime the manager. I saw the whole thing so I pointed out that he moved it and he shooed me away. I HEARD The manager told him to give me the discount (being that it was a FaceTime call, not a regular phone call) He answered back disgruntled. He obviously wasn't happy. We went back up to the desk where he told me it was $3.99 or nothing. I walked. I would rather run out of gas and walk all the way to Long Island than give this place another $. Super delicious pit stop! Whenever anyone in my family is heading through New Jersey we make sure to stop here for lunch or an early dinner. Today I got the lamb pocket with pickled radishes and tzatziki. It was so good! The portion was large, meat was moist, and flavor was very balanced. The people serving us were so helpful and friendly and gave us tasty recommendations for what to put on top. I highly recommend getting a coke to go with any pocket, it just makes the meal. It is easy to miss this place because it is in a gas station and doesn't advertise prominently. However, this is a gem in hiding. They have a good mix of gyro sandwiches, gyro platters, salads, soups and even a whole rotisserie chicken. The food is Halal and the owner is amazing. He offered us a sample of soup, while we were waiting for our order to be made. Also when I told him that the order was for somebody who was sick and recovering, he would not accept any money from me. It just blew me away. I have to give three stars because the food was delicious/fresh and filling. I will visit this establishment again, after the pandemic. They are not wearing masks and one person did have a mask, but under the nose, which the way biology works the nose connects to the lungs, and this far into the pandemic it's inexcusable to not wear a mask or wear one improperly. They also wear gloves, but touch their face and mask with the gloves then proceed to touch the service utensils and your food with the same gloves. There was only one person wearing a mask properly and it was an older woman. I ordered the falafel platter and a salad. Everything was tasty and yummy. Is it worth rising my health for? Nope.
