very delicious and wonderful service and delicious food. great variety on the menu. my husband and I came for appetizers and drinks. we had nachos with beef and the crab dip. Overall, I enjoyed Blue Drum. Great location and I was worried about it being too hot to sit outside but the area is shaded and pleasant. Service was okay - ordered veggies with my fish tacos and never got them. The fish tacos and crab dip were both good but almost $30 for two tacos is a bit expensive, even considering the area.

I don't understand the 3.4 stars. Before dining here I was the lady becoming her parents in the insurance commercial, I talked to three locals and asked pointed blank, would you recommend Blue Drum or ---- (probably as good but I don't want to say anything bad, I haven't tried-----). All three said Blue Drum. They were right! We had an amazing dinner and live music. We started with the Bacon Hangers. More meat than two people should consume, lol. So good the sauce was smoky and sweet. Then my husband had Salmon with rice and asparagus. I had the Grouper Oscar sub the Grits, instead of rice, and asparagus. They were both delicious! But after the bacon we agreed the Grouper and Grits were a match made in heaven. The rice was too sweet, the buttery grits were the perfect match. We split the Grouper and took the salmon for later.

I really want to love this place! It's close by and has a great location! The interior is awesome with great bar space! We've been here a few times and it's been nothing short of so-so! We've had the chowder which is very good. The oysters are ok!! We had the fried green tomatoes which were ok! The gumbo had great flavor but was served luke warm ! I've had the shrimp and lobster linguine which was good! I recently had the blackened mahi tacos which were not great! They were not very 'blackened' and the flour tortillas seemed like they were right out of the plastic packaging! The sweet potato fries were the star of the dinner! The spicy margaritas were excellent! Service both times were ok! The food quality needs to get better for us to make this a regular spot to eat! Maybe we'll return and just enjoy the view and have a few cocktails!

Was here for the first time in vacation after doing some jet ski. The food was amazing. We eat here for lunch on a Tuesday and sat outside near the water. Would recommend it again. The service was good

Amazing service, relaxing atmosphere and most of all delicious food with a lovely presentation! Will definitely visit again!

Expensive food that doesn't warrant the expense.

Service was slow. Prices are higher than any place we've eaten along the strand for similar food. Fried green tomatoes ended up being $3.50 per slice! My friend ordered Mahi tacos were almost $24 and barely had any fish in it. No refills offered on my drink. Took forever to get checked out.

I'm not sure why they thought it was a good idea to box in all the outside seating but it sucks now. Plexi glass walls box it in preventing all air flow but let in all the sun with no shades. It was like getting cooked alive while trying to enjoy a nice meal. Poorly planned and designed modification to their outdoor deck

What a great dinner!! I enjoyed the crab cakes with tons of yummy lumpy crab. Hubs got the surf and turf with lobster tail, which was so delicious and well seasoned. Everything on the menu was fairly priced. Location cannot be beat, sunset was beautiful here. We will for sure be back, probably for all you can eat crab legs! Corey was our waiter and was fantastic, ask for him when you come and you are guaranteed a fabulous experience.

A beautiful setting along the intercoastal waterway. We stopped in for lunch and sat outside to enjoy the gorgeous day and mild temperatures. We had a reservation and were seated quickly. Our server was very nice and attentive although I thought it unusual that the servers are not given an "area" but rather tables so the table around us all had different servers which meant you couldn't easily ask a question for the server. Immediately after placing our order we asked the server to add the hanging bacon appetizer and she said it was maybe "too late." How can it ever be "too late" to order? She said she would try and see if she could place the order. We never heard from her again about the bacon and never received our order. It felt very odd.

The food was okay, as was the service. I'd go back to try the happy hour menu, since it looked interesting.

Ask the Community - Blue Drum

Is there a kids menu?

I've never seen a kids menu there. It would probably be easier just to call them.

Do they have a happy hour menu?

Yes but I believe it changes from time to time.

I absolutely love this place and is one of my favorite places to stop before I head to Myrtle Beach. It's located in Calabash, NC so it's like 10 minutes before you get to the SC boarder. It might be shorter than that. But anyway, I love coming here obviously the food is fresh and fantastic. They have plenty of outdoor seating and it's always nice and clean. The staff is wonderful. I love that every time I've come, I'm always greeted with a warm welcome and a smile. Everything that I've tried has been great. And they have lots of options. Check out my pics and I'm a creature of habit so I got the same thing but one thing I did try was the Wahoo fish. It was perfect and I'd never had it before. I can see this easily being a fan favorite. And lastly the dessert. I highly recommend getting the fried pound cake and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It's heavenly. Although, not pictured, they have a great pumpkin pie. Follow their Instagram for updates because they do close down I want to say the Thanksgiving day up until Spring so about March or April. It's a good time and you won't be disappointed. Check them out if you are in the area.

We visited during a stormy weekend, so the wind made for an interesting experience trying to keep our drinks, plastic plates, and complimentary popcorn from blowing away! The dockside menu was somewhat limited and, unfortunately, not as appealing as I had hoped, especially considering the prices. We started with the peel-and-eat shrimp, which was a generous portion and size and seasoned well! However, the salads left more to be desired and were overpriced . The Caesar was underwhelming and overpriced, while the Mediterranean salad with burrata came with two pieces of burrata. The pistachio pesto at least gave a bit of a kick. The cocktail selection was decent and actually offered more creativity than the food menu. Overall, Makos Marina is a beautiful spot to enjoy live music, a drink, and a quick bite by the water. I'd return for the atmosphere, but the food left something to be desired, particularly for the price.

We had fabulous service, unfortunately I don't remember the name of our waiter, but he was great at letting us pace our meal. My family loves coming here and it was my husband's birthday so that is how we ended up there. Unfortunately, I have yet to have a mail that was memorable for the right reasons. I do not like that the specials are not written down so that you can see all the details and the $$. The night that we were there, the waiter described one of the specials with mahi-mahi over crab & lobster risotto, which sounded amazing. I ordered with full anticipation that this was the meal I would finally love. Unfortunately, the risotto was so full of red and green peppers that you couldn't even taste the crab and lobster. The fish was beautifully prepared, but I ended up taking everything home because my pallet was blown by the bell peppers. It was an expensive special that was reheated with homemade risotto. A friend was happy to eat the leftovers from Oyster Rock.
