The crab legs were perfectly cooked, easy to crack, and packed with sweet flavor. The shrimp were fresh, seasoned just right, and cooked perfectly. Everything was hot, fresh, and ready when promised. You can tell they take pride in the quality of their seafood. After a day at the beach, it was the perfect meal to bring back and enjoy with family. This time I got the spot platter with fries and those honey butter hush puppies (which are always a MUST), plus steamed shrimp and clams on the side. Everything was fresh and seasoned just right. The spot was fried perfectly--crispy on the outside, still tender inside. The shrimp were juicy with a good flavor, and the clams were on point too. And listen... those honey butter hush puppies? Yeah, they don't miss. Sweet, soft, and just overall too good. It's one of those spots you can count on every time. Quick, good food, solid portions, and always worth it. Great prices for amazing seafood can be found at Platt's Seafood. This is basically a seafood shop, with a small amount of groceries, and a counter to order anything they sell in the store, mostly seafood, but one guy handed over a kielbasa and asked if they would cook that, which they happily did. The wife ordered the fish sandwich, which today was a very large piece of Flounder on what might have been a potato bun. The sandwich came with Fries and hush puppies. She also ordered a side of slaw which she loved. I ordered fried oyster and clam strip combo, which also came fries, hush puppies and slaw. All was perfectly cooked and excellent. We also ordered and split a soft shell, which wasn't the best but that is because soft shells are not in season. This will certainly be worth another shot in April when they are. As I stated they will cook anything they sell, so if you don't want what is on the menu, you can pick out any of the fresh seafood they sell and have it cooked to order. It is just hard to be that type of great service and offerings. We liked this meal so much we went back a second day to get some Shrimp and Slaw for a late night snack. There isn't much to change about Platt's other than a place to sit and eat it while the food is at its freshest. However, the food was still great even after the drive back to the house we were staying at. Platt's is a definite must if you are staying in the North Myrtle/Cherry Grove area. read more

We assumed a 55yo family owned seafood seller + restaurant would be pretty good at fried seafood, but that's not what we found. Everyone was perfectly friendly and the prices seemed good enough. But the hushpuppies were bland, the fried fish (mahi) tasted old, the fries weren't worth the calories, and the fried scallops (which i usually love), tasted so bad that i couldn't keep them in my mouth. To be fair, the fried corn was a hit and the fried shrimp weren't bad - the breading was lackluster, but the shrimp themselves were quite good. If you're in this area & want some fried seafood, head on up to Calabash or Holden Beach. read more

I happen to be at a store next-door to this place and noticed people going in and coming out with these nice bags that smelled good. I went in and was surprised to see a market that has fresh fish and meats and also a place that was cooking those. It is carryout so I looked at a menu and ordered the low country boil. I expected a small amount of food that I would pay off a lot for. That is not what happened. It was the opposite. I ended up with three meals off this. It is very tasty. It's not too spicy, but it's enough spice for your tongue to dance. The low country boil has sausage, shrimp, crab, potatoes, corn. They recently added a grill where you can take your seafood to be cooked (steamed, fried, etc. and get hush puppies, slaw and other sides. This was my second visit to Platt's Seafood. On our first visit, we stopped by on the way out of Myrtle Beach, but this time, we stopped by as soon as we hit town. I was visiting North Myrtle Beach, SC, and the hotel staff had highly recommended Platt's seafood restaurant. On our first night, we called in and ordered food. Joann took the order over the phone; the only problem was that we needed help finding the restaurant with the address on the website. We called the restaurant back to confirm the address, and no one knew where the correct address was. We tried two days later after receiving the correct address. We ordered several seafood dishes, and for the most part, everything was good, except what they referred to as a stuffed crab shell, which turned out to be cornbread stuffing in a shell with no remnant of crab meat in its ingredients. Now for the service when arriving to pick up the order. Upon entering the establishment, we were greeted with a question: Can I help you? We responded with the name in which I had placed the order. Then something changed, and Joann did not answer whether the order was ready, but she just turned and started working on something else. We felt as if we were being ignored until someone else asked if we were being helped. We responded that Joann was helping us, but Joann responded no, you can help them. Literally the best! There's nothing they don't have and the quality is perfection. The crab and shrimp cannot be beat! If I can find one tiny complaint, the hush puppies really seem to depend on the staff that day. Sometimes they're killer, sometimes they are close to killer. First the positive: the staff were very pleasant on the phone during the ordering process and when picking up. Now for the negative: for being a boil for 4 people at $99.88 there were only 2 crab clusters in total that had been torn apart. A few shrimp and plenty of overcooked clams. It was mostly potatoes. What a gem! You pick your fresh fish at the counter by the pound, they prepare for $3 per item. There is no place to eat, you either eat in the car or bring back to your place. They do have silverware, tarter sauce (super fresh) and cocktail sauce. They also offer meals that include fries and slaw. FRESH, FRESH, FRESH! Our best meal, hands down. They did a great job at frying the flounder and shrimp. We were both stuffed for $50 and had a ton left over. Compared to the $28 I spent on one plate and Bimini's for what was literally less then 20% of the fish/shrimp I got at Platt's. Service is quick, in and out in about 20 minutes. Platt's has always been the best cash and carry seafood on the beach. Back "in the day" my parents were always in there. First, we'd go in there when we first arrived at the beach. You should have a peel and eat party one night and they had the best shrimp for that kind of thing. And we'd sometimes go back for bait. Might want to fish yourself at the cherry Grove Pier or off a dock in the marsh. Not exactly the eating kind of fishing but more "the fun fish" kind of bait. We always stopped on our way out of town for the take back home kind of fish. Fish that they would pack on ice in a styrofoam cooler and you'd stick in your freezer back home for that moment when your beach vacation seemed like it never happened and maybe you'd never see the ocean again.
