Spent a wonderful. late afternoon, overlooking the ICW at Blue Drum yesterday! Grant was an astute server, allowing us to sit & talk for a long time, patient enough to let us order when we were ready and not on his time schedule. But, I have to say, after living in the Myrtle Beach area for over 5 years, they have the BEST she crab soup I have had anywhere; and I always try the she crab soup whenever I see it on any menu. So much crab in the soup! And, the ambiance is lovely, whether it is in the cozy booths or the outside area overlooking the water! read more

Great spot for having a drink and watching boat traffic. But the drinks are expensive and the food is mediocre. I had shrimp tacos and got two with tiny salad shrimp on it and covered in a chipotle mayo that overwhelmed everything. It came with a side and.i chose the pineapple Cole slaw. It was just ok. Crab dip looked like bean dip and was very fishy tasting. I4th time giving it a try. Not worth $18 For tacos and $15 for a drink. There are much better places to eat on the Intercoastal. read more

Went there in August, and the portion size was three times the size of last night's meal. Not what I expected. We were told that the kitchen staff did not change. We were all very disappointed with our meal. In addition, the appetizers came out after the meal was served. Not going back. read more

The restaurant is a ticking time bomb for food poisoning! The kitchen is a shithole, servers and kitchen staff can't observe ServSafe standards. Thawing food in hand sinks, gloves, what gloves? Leaving cooked cocktail shrimp in a plastic 1/3 pan on the bar in 80 degrees heat, WTF! Your kitchen manager should be thrown into the ICW! I will never eat there again. Waiting 40 minutes for a salad, and telling me that's normal when it's busy? Keep it. read more

Food was great! We highly recommend the shrimp and lobster linguine. I'm not a huge lemon fan but this sauce was just the right touch. The lobster and shrimp had so much flavor it was great! Fried food was good, can't really go wrong. Staff were really friendly. I would definitely recommend making reservations. read more

I have eaten at Blue Drum twice. Both times the wait staff was frazzled, too many customers too many special requests and generally just not enough room for them to navigate. The food was just OK, regular size portions, prices were above average. My table mate ordered a hurricane, and they had never heard of that drink.!?! We came in and ordered well before happy time, were served prior to happy hour ending and yet we were charged full price. We did dispute it and they did reprice the tab. I attended a church ladies luncheon and we had reservations for 12:30, another group was scheduled right in front of us so we didn't get to sit down for about 45 minutes and then we were not able to sit together. The food was just mediocre and there were overcharges on tabs that afternoon. I won't retur I won't be returning. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at this BLUE DRUM restaurant. Our party of five had reservations for the outdoor deck overlooking the water at 6 o'clock. We had made these reservations a week ago We received a call 15 min before our 6 pm reservation and was told that they CANCELLED IT DUE TO SOME RAIN. we had just driven 25 minutes to get to this restaurant We arrived 15 minutes early, only to be told again that our reservation had been canceled. We asked for the manager who was very rude and unprofessional and told us she basically couldn't do a thing for us and was not able to seat us inside. Other folks arrived as walk-ins and they were seated immediately. Upon arrival, we found that other guests who had just arrived were being seated inside, yet we were told that our reservation had been canceled therefore we could not be accommodated. The lack of flexibility and consideration was appalling. Despite the inclement weather, it was clear that the restaurant had the capacity to seat us indoors, but they chose not to. This level of customer service is unacceptable. We will NOT be returning, and I WILL advise others to avoid this restaurant if you expect even basic courtesy and professionalism. NOT WORTH 1 star!! Poor management and just giddy young hostesses who know nothing about customer service. read more

Flounder Po Boy crisp and fresh tasting. Sweet potato waffle fries were great and not soggy like some places. Waitstaff very attentive and friendly. read more

My family went to this restaurant for dinner. Arrive 5 min. Early and they did not have our table ready. However, when the hostess said something to the manager she rudely stated they are 5 min. Early not addressing us but, seemingly directing that it was our fault! Got seated about 15-20 min later. The appetizers were good however, it went down hill from there. My wife ordered the shrimp and lobster linguine. sauce was thick and bland as were the shrimp and lobster little flavor. My daughter had Cajun Trio was also bland. Neither finished the dish. I had the fried shrimp platter. Not anything to write home about. The only redeeming thing was a the service was good after we got seated. All in all will not go back. read more

Excellent views. Great food. Fast friendly service. Fair prices. We loved it Laid back friendly vibes. Nice live music. Smiley staff. Food was very good. Shrimp and grits. Shrimp Po Boy. She-crab soup. Key Lime Pie. All were EXCELLENT! We sat along the railing which was AWESOME and it saved a 2 hour wait. (This could be tricky if rain is forecast) Fun times. read more

My daughter and I went tonight to celebrate my 60th birthday. Maybe it was just an off night. Service was excellent and the drinks were good but that's where it ended. I ordered She-crab soup which I usually love. It arrived cold and warming it up didn't make it any better. It had no taste. Next was the seafood pasta which was to consist of lobster and crab stuffed ravioli in a vodka sauce with lump crab and lobster on top. Both the "lobster"and "crab" were imitation which the menu didn't specify but the server confirmed. At $28 a dish at a seafood restaurant, I expected to get real seafood. The dish itself also had no flavor whatsoever. We barely ate it and didn't even bring it home. I was excited to try this place for the first time but it was definitely a disappointing meal. I'd be hard pressed to go back. read more

The only things good I can say about this place are the location and the servers. We've been three times, twice the hostess was rude and condescending. The food was mediocre. I contacted them several months ago about how rudely we were treated by the hostess but never received a reply. Such a shame because the servers did a great job and the restaurant is in a good location with nice water views. read more

I don't recommend this place ..I had the filet mignon and it was not the tenderloin cut ...it was a thin piece of meat maybe sirloin or top round but it wasn't filet mignon ...small portions and was not what I expected for the price ...judge for urself....it seems that the owner Briann f....is a complete Moron ...read some of the reviews and she keeps saying sorry but does nothing about it ....she must be in denial ...asking people for another chance or send it back and we will make it right ...well briann f ...make it right the first time u ignorant owner read more

Service was terrific. Some of the food was too. If they up their game a bit, given the location and view, it could be terrific.

Cajun pasta was bland ... tasted more like a cheese sauce than Cajun sauce. Blackened shrimp was great, Brussels were amazing! Happy hour is fun, you come for the live music and view. read more

Great food, and excellent service. Our server, Mia, was professional, knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. Thank you.

Great location on the intercostal watery with absolutely fabulous views. We have been here multiple times for lunch , diner and happy hour. There are a lot of great options on the menu including the she crab soup, the clam chowder and the po boys. They recently began serving brunch on the weekends. I had the signature Bloody Mary and a shrimp and crab omelette that were both delicious. read more

Food was good, but the service was terrible. I sat at the bar ten seats away from the only other two patrons. We started okay, ordered wine and food. Both came quickly, then it all went south. A very large, loud alcohol rep. sat down two seats away from me. The conversation was loud and rude. They discussed poor tipping, bad customers, where bottles were placed, what she poured, etc. etc. At one point she was on the opposite side of me talking across me. Thats when I had it and told them to take their business out of my lunch. She told me this was a public place and she could do whatever she wanted. Fine you won. Well not really I got the check paid the bill left zero tip and left! She lost! I can see why she gets lousy tips! Time to put the customer first! read more

If I leave a bad review that means it was REALLY bad. Not hard to please. Also could've been a bad night but there's serious things that need fixing. Worst of all is the service we received, the receipt said our server was Christina F, she never introduced herself properly so hopefully that's the right name. Might've been having a bad night, but that was the worst service we've ever received. Finger in my soup, asked us to take things out of her hands, unprofessional, not one single smile after being a super easy table! Stood there talking in front of us when we needed things. As for the food- that's enough to never go back. Crab dip was hard and cold we had to use a knife to cut through it and it came with only THREE mini crostinis- got charged when we asked for more. The crab cakes were dry and full with filling. Soup was not good. Sat there for 15 minutes after eating waiting for the check, went to ask the bartender if she could get our server- and she was piling food into her mouth behind the bar. With customers. That is unprofessional and gross. Just keep all of this in mind if you're deciding to go.. serious fixing needs to happen with food and service. Should never have to go home hungry after spending $120 because everything was awful. Management could turn things around it's not too late! read more

Quick service. Great views by intercoastal. Easy to get to and ample parking. Food was ok. Had fried green tomatoes. And side of crab Mac and cheese. It needed a lot more cheese. And some salt. read more

The service to our table was excellent with sweet little Mia as our server. We had prime seating at a table on the inter coastal. Really nice view. Terrific live music! Really made the evening. The food could use a little bit of help but I'm learning there's truly no really good food in the Myrtle Beach area due to the fact that none of the restaurant owners want to pay for a talented chef. Craft drinks all too sweet. No on tap beer. Only bottles. No Heineken! Local IPA's, can only. Stick with your own regular drinks and you'll be fine. read more

my second time here. I was hoping for an experience better than last year. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. we came at a busy time without a reservation. servers were all very busy. it's not an easy job. my concern is the quality of the food. my husband asked for a burger. it looked wilted and pathetic on the plate. it was not cooked as he had asked. as for the shrimp and grits, I'm speechless, and not in a good way. it looked like it was thrown together, add some shredded cheese, then put it under a heat lamp. while the view is great and the alcoholic beverages were good, we won't be back. read more

4 of us docked our boat at Blue Drum and despite them having a full waitlist, we were seated quickly outside near the water. Overall, great food, quick and friendly service, solid drinks, fair prices and beautiful views. The Mahi tacos were very tasty but the Mahi sandwich was even better. The crab dip was also very good. The one recommendation I have is to add draft beer to the bar!!! Nonetheless, not sure where all the negative reviews are coming from but I'm grateful we had a memorable experience. We will certainly be back! read more

Terrible service, overwhelmingly bland food, and a fly riddled environment. Upon entering the establishment I was greeted by a kind staff that was happy to seat me. As for the server and management staff. I was served cold food and was ignored when attempting to correct the issue. The staff and owner had no sympathy for my situation when I actually managed to grab their attention. One star will not be back. read more

Location is great. Food is good. Have given this business several tries. It's always the same. Wait staff is crap. If you except to be treated like your business matters. Don't go here.
