We hired Christina for our wedding after I spent months trying to find someone that not only makes great cakes, but also offers more than just macaroons and cookies for a dessert bar. Our wedding was last week and Christina absolutely delivered! We ordered basically everything on her menu including 2 types of cake (classic vanilla, chocolate with peanut butter and banana), brownies, lemon tarts, 2 types of galettes, cheesecake, and panna cotta with rainier cherry compote. Everything was a major hit! We are lucky our planners saved us a box with some of each or we probably wouldn't have gotten to try anything (and we thought we overordered). The favorite was definitely the panna cotta (although I also loved the lemon tarts and my husband the brownies). My husband and I got married this past September. We were directed to Christina based upon the size and location of our event - due to her minimum pricing Blue Box is not an option for small weddings but was perfect for our medium size guest count (just over 100). When meeting for our tasting, we went with the more extravagant 8 flavor option as my husband is a chocolate fan but I am not...this was well worth the price as we got 8 mini cakes to try which meant plenty to take home and enjoy over the weekend! Christina won us over with her flavors and enthusiasm, she provided some off the menu suggestions for mixing and matching sponge and fillings which was awesome. Ultimately, we settled on a mix of a traditional wedding cake (we were so pleased to get more than one flavor choice), along with a smaller gluten free cake and a number of sweet treats to appeal to a wide range of dietary restrictions and palates. When it came to design, Christina was very attentive to our inspiration photos/vision but also mindful of our budget as sugar past dahlias are not easy or inexpensive! When we discussed incorporating our dogs, she had a vendor lined up to make figurines and took care of the ordering process once we provided her some photos. It's been 4 years since my wedding, and I STILL get comments on how good my desserts were! Just this last weekend was my sister in laws birthday, and ever since she's been trying to recreate the chocolate peanut butter crunch cake at my wedding but nothing has hit the spot, and my other sister in law we gave some of the leftover marionberry panacotta and told me she treated every single one she ate like gold. My only gripe is that I would LOVE to order that cake again to surprise my SIL with, but alas due to the order minimum I probably won't be able to make it happen. I heard incredible things about this place and was excited for the possible collaboration for my big day! At first it seemed great until I mentioned wanting cupcakes, or another dessert for children. I get liability, but continuously not once but twice saying we're not a good fit. Honestly I would have been willing to forgo cupcakes and just have cake if the customer service and simple human interaction skills were there. Can't unfortunately recommend them. I've been following this bakery for a while on Instagram and I love the creativity in their designs. I met Christina the pastry chef and owner and we reviewed wedding cake options. She was incredibly nice and professional. She had baked three gf nut based cakes with a thin buttercream layer so I could visualize the naked cake design I want. The cakes had a nice refreshing taste with local berries. They were also a really good size making my tasting fee of 20.00 well worth it as I was able to take a lot home. My favorite thing about the meeting was that Christina actually drew out my cake and used colored pencils so I could visualize what it would look like. No other place did that and I really appreciated her personalizing a picture for me to help me visualize the results. I really enjoyed her and her professionalism. When I found BBB through Seattle Korean Weddings, I was super excited not only because the cakes look amazing, but because my fiancé and I have been trying to support local, women of color owned wedding businesses. After browsing the website, we immediately knew which cake we'd like to order so we requested to skip the tasting and go straight to placing an order. I'm not sure if this and our other requests were off-putting (we asked if there any specials available to stay within our budget), but Christina's responses gave us the feeling that she did not want our business. Heard about this business from a client, and I was excited to call them about my upcoming wedding. We called to request samples and consultation. We were informed that they don't do samples and they are pretty much booked for the next few Saturdays. We attempted to inform them that our wedding was not until October and it was on a Sunday. We hired Christina to do the dessert bar at my daughter's wedding on the Hood Canal. Christina is a very talented baker. The bride and groom chose a Vanilla Cake, Bavarian Cream, Fresh Strawberries, Vanilla Buttercream cake. It was absolutely delicious. Normally I don't like writing yelp reviews , but I felt I need to write a review for this place. I follow the Instagram page and was in love with the cake designs and was looking forward to have my wedding cake made by them. I had an appointment set up for a cake tasting because I couldn't decide what flavor I wanted yet. We set the appointment 2 weeks out because that's when she was available . I live kinda far so it took me a little over 40minutes to get the the bakery and I waited over half an hour and she never showed up. I called and emailed and there was no response. She never showed up. I wasted 3 hours of my day for nothing. Super unprofessional , and I will be taking my business elsewhere . FOLLOW UP: the owner just responded to my review 5months later and is trying to make me feel guilty for giving her a one star. Not once did she call me back to apologize for no call and no show. I called her 3 times and no answer but I left voicemails. I did end up sending her and email but she doesn't respond until almost a week later. How can you trust someone with your wedding cake if they don't even bother showing up to the tasting? Yes it's unfortunate that the owners baby got sick but as a business owner you still have responsibilities to let your client know whether you're going to make it to the appointment or not. Not everyone can drop what they're doing and just go wait around for you. Instead of saying I'm being unfair and giving this business a one star how about the business take a step back and reevaluate how you treat customers? After wasting 3 hours of my time I am still being called unreasonable when I did nothing wrong here. Truly disappointing. read more
