Blue Barn is my local go-to salad source. They are amazing! The only thing wrong with them is that they are too big :-) The Winter Mix salad is delicious. I've had others and been totally satisfied with all of them. I've tried a couple of the sandwiches, but honestly they are way too much food. The Smoked (salmon) was delish, but I only needed half. The design-it-yourself salad option is overwhelming...I like restaurants because they do the thinking for me, but I do see a lot of people ticking away on the checklist, so it must be a hit. The lines are long, nearly always, but they move quickly, so don't despair. Enjoy the fact that you are outside in a beautiful place and not in line somewhere else. We are big fans of BBG offerings and menu. We find it to be hands down the best menu in the area of Corte Madera. In the recent weeks, though, we have found the staff to be incredibly rude and disrespectful. Three visits and all three their communication with the customer is appalling. We will not be coming back. We are all trying to do our best, wearing masks and they have in three visits managed to accuse us of not paying ( and then without apology stating "oh nevermind you did"), yell at us as if it is our fault they cannot hear through glass partition, and be dismissive as we were ordering. Just so much attitude. I was honestly surprised to see there is an owner and a managing partner as I just assumed this must be a case of undertrained ( likely not well interviewed as well) staff working on their own. If there actually is someone there with a stake in the restaurant's success, hearing and seeing their cashiers behaviors and is ok with it, then wow! Maybe they have no place managing a restaurant. So excited that Blue Barn has come to Marin. I had not been to the Blue Barn in the city but will put this place at the top of my list! The salads are amazing and I have lots of different sandwiches on my list to try. The decor is cute and rustic, with an open-feeling indoor-outdoor space and in a great location in Corte Madera's town center. I brought my two-year-old and was able to sit outside and watch her while she played with other kids around the fountain. I went on a Saturday and service was great, fast and everyone cheerful. Blue Barn is a great location and they have a great menu. I had a terrific salad. But - the kids plates really overpriced for what you get. My girls got grilled cheese which was really basic and came with 1 piece of celery and 1 carrot. Overall, I found it to be really expensive. This is hands down one of the best restaurants in the Bay Area. Hubby and I will drive all the way from Santa Clara (over an hour away), just to eat here! So I had my second trip to Blue Barn today. My first trip was for the ceaser which was super bomb. Today, I decided to have the BLT which was also super bomb because they added blue cheese to it. The price was a little high, but they said that they were also a start up and that all their ingredients were super organic. To top that off, the girl there gave me a free tomato soup because apparently the person that ordered it never came to get it. I would say the only down side was the price. This WAS my # 1 go to place. Fresh organic food. I have literally eaten a ton of meals since they opened. It is expensive, but fresh. OK ambiance, nice to sit outside in the summer. Well, today I asked for "heavy" aioli on my sandwich which was about $13.00 with tax. The cashier told me that they no longer do "heavy" aioli. New rule from the owner. The customer has to buy a side for 50 cents or 1 dollar, (not sure). REALLY??? So, I said forget it. I bought the sandwich, and it was on the dry side. I didn't want to ask for aioli. Come on, we spend a small fortune at this place. Not only that, but I have really liked the food here. The employees are lovely. This place is just far too expensive, and if you cannot get complementary heavy aioli, I am done. The cashier's are always very nice. But, this was the final straw. Not coming back after being their # 1 fan since they opened. I also buy a couple of sides..... so I have spent a fortune in this place. Their customer service at their Corte Madera location is extremely disappointing and leaves much to be desired. Wish I could give them no stars. So, it's bad enough that they refuse to take phone orders and hardly ever even answer their phone. But, we decided to head down there to pick up some lunch for our office crew, we were turned away cause we had too large of an order. Mind you, we got there right at 11 when they opened and we wanted to purchase 9 items (salads and sandwiches, not gourmet meals). Well, apparently, 9 is too many as it puts Blue Barn's kitchen "behind" and ruins their whole day. The employee turning us away had a bad attitude and snidely noted that he would be "willing" to sell us 4 items. Say what? "Willing" to feed 4 of 9? So, what, the other 5 people don't eat? I guess their business is making so much profit that they can pick and choose who they sell their food to and in what quantity. We walked out, won't be returning, and went to Pacific Catch instead. Considering I spent almost seven dollars a small cup of soup, I thought I was entitled (no, I am not the classic Marin County patron who suffers from Self Entitlement Syndrome) to a few more croutons. Yet, when I asked the young woman behind the counter for a few more croutons she utilized that vocal fry voice and replied."That will cost you a dollar a crouton." Great food. Awful service. Its clear others reviewers have had similar experiences. I arrived to get take out and signed like I was supposed to letting them know I was here and it was paid for then proceeded to wait 30 mins while watching all the employees just sitting around talking. We were sitting right next to the take out counter very visible. Once I asked if our food was almost ready, they said oh it's right here. The bag had been sitting there for 25 minutes and no one called our name or said anything. By the time we got our food it was cold and the workers were very rude. Instead of apologizing they tried to say WE should have asked sooner. It is not my responsibility to ask every few minutes if my pickup order I just paid and signed for is ready. It is YOUR responsibility to call my name and give it to me. It was extra frustrating that none of them were paying attention and just talking amongst themselves the whole time our food was sitting there. My grilled cheese was disgustingly cold and inedible because of that. This is the third experience I have had with rude waitstaff at blue barn. If you choose to be in the customer service business, you need to treat the customers well (it's not my fault you hate your job and you don't need to take it out on the customer). This was the last straw for us with dealing with the incompetent staff at blue barn. I would recommend blue barn reevaluates the staff they hire or trains them properly. I was a loyal customer but I will not be going back after this. Have been eating here since they opened in Marin. However they started a new "edit" limitation of what you can omit from their menu. I have been ordering the same item each and every weekend. Today I was told that the item I have been eating would no longer be prepared to my liking dies to this absurd new policy. Manager was dismissive and did not care they we walked out and canceled an order due to food allergies. I am trying to phone in a pick up order- no option to order online but I receive a voicemail that asks me to "come on down" and order in person. Good food, need to improve on the customer service. I have been to Blue Barn a few times. Love the Turkey Sandwich, Spinich Salad, Chinese Chicken Salad. The BLT not so much and I love love love bacon. Long lines with people who do not fill out their order form to just hand to the cashier to move things along. Friendly young adults behind the registers. So on my 1/2 hour lunch I call my order in, clock out, drive 5 minutes to the mall and go in and get in the PHONE ORDER line and people standing in line start a mutiny, and I say " I called my order in 20 minutes ago " thinking the cashier will back me up.......yeah no. She says "let me help this group" of 6 people, who did not know what they wanted and went through every item on the menu and asked this that and the other thing about every item on the menu, and changed their complete order after they ordered and paid. So the other cashier is looking at me and I say "There's my order can I just pay for it? " and she says "I'm not the PHONE ORDER line" ????? really????? Well the PHONE ORDER line doesn't seem to cater to the PHONE ORDER customers either. I never raised my voice or got angry but I could not believe they would not just ring a customer up with an item called in and ready for them and instead help an indecisive party of six who couldn't make up their minds when they had been standing in line long enough to do. My idea would be that PHONE ORDER customers be able to pick up a little holder like they give you when you eat there but instead of a number you have PHONE ORDER on it and they call you to the front of the line. PHONE ORDER customers should not be penelized because they thought ahead and preordered and the cashiers should be trained to handle a crowd by saying PLEASE wait I am ringing up a customer that ordered their food 20 minutes ago (before you even got in line). So to the rude group ahead of me, would it really have hurt you to wait 1 minute at the most for my salad to be rung up while you still wiffle waffled on what you MIGHT order? And to the cashier who might have wondered why you did not get a tip that time when I usually tip you good.......get a clue. And YES I was late to clock back in to work, thanks! read more

My office is right next to blue barn and someone from the office goes there atleast once a day, but my experience is never positive. I went in at 11:30 ordered at 11:32 and left at 12 with one sandwich to go. I know the sign states extra time, but 1/2 hour for a cheese sandwich before the lunch rush seems way too long, Also I don't eat meat and I am suprised everytime I am charged .25 for no ham and to add tomato. I know this is Marin, but 10.88 with tax for a grilled cheese and tomato that takes 1/2 hour totally seems crazy. read more

I love the Blue Barn on Chestnut and was extremely excited for the Corte Madera location. I have eaten there about 5 or 6 times always with ridiculously slow service. The one star rating is not for the long wait but the terrible quality of the last two meals I had there. My Rooster sandwich was cold, with cheese that was hard and oily as though it had been sitting out at room temperature uncovered for hours. The bacon was soggy, fatty, and disgusting and the aioli was way too heavy. The sandwich was inedible. I decided to give it one more try, stopping by for a BLT immediately after they opened for lunch. It still took 30 minutes to get my sandwich which had cold, soggy, fatty bacon (again), soggy lettuce, and an exorbitant amount of aioli. I'm beyond disappointed with the recent quality of food at what was one of my favorite restaurants in the city. At this point I'm embarrassed to have spent months telling all my Marin friends how great the new blue barn was going to be and how much they would all love it. read more

The food here is ok but the concept of customer satisfaction is obviously a mystery to the staff. I wanted to order a sandwich without the bread and asked for the contents to just be put in a bowl. The girl at the counter said they couldn't do that. Why I asked? She said " because we build the sandwich from the bread in". Really??? I was actually embarrassed for her and what her response said about her intelligence and interest in keeping a customer.
