Vegan chocolate is a delicious. This vegan chocolate is delicious delicious . I wish I had known and I would have purchased more. I had purchased one piece because it's almost $3 for a single piece and I didn't want to waste money. It was definitely worth it! It was dark and creamy.

Not all chocolates are the same. Breaking the Blu Boy blue paper seal and opening the brown rectangular box revealed an assortment of brightly colored truffles decorated with whimsical chocolate stencils. Starting first with the dark and milk chocolates, you can tell the quality of the chocolate in the flavor and smooth texture. There is none of the graininess or waxiness associated with cheaper chocolates. Moving on to the flavored truffles, their flavors such as lavender, chili, and raspberry, are pure and true to taste. Blu Boys does a nice job balancing flavors, chocolate, and sweetness. Go to the storefront in Bloomington, Indiana to customize your box or order their chocolates online. It's definitely a nice treat for the chocoholic in your life!

Full disclosure, I have never been to BLU Boy Chocolate Cafe and Cakery; BUT, I have tried their products, and they're great! I recently visited Bloomington to see a friend's choir performance, and at the after party they served desserts from BLU Boy Chocolate Cafe and Cakery. Everything was delicious, but the macarons were by far my favorite thing, not only from the desserts, but from everything being served at the party. I could have eaten a dozen! I can assure you, when I return to Bloomington I will definitely be visiting BLU Boy Chocolate Cafe and Cakery! And if you're in the area and looking for desserts, this is a great spot to get them!

Good, we had the bread pudding, salted Carmel ganache brownie and the chocolate ice cream. Ice cream made the little one happy, brownie and bread pudding satisfied the elders. The carmel was "slap yo' mama good". If we lived closer, we'd definitely be back. The ambiance was great, cool old building.

For such a little shop, this place has a huge number of options. Do you want chocolate sweets? Got'em! How about baked items like brownies and cookes? Got'em! Coffee? Ice Cream? Chocolate covered caramel pecans? They got'em! There is a small amount of seating in the front of the shop. Metered street parking is available out front. The guy behind the counter was friendly and helpful, getting us our selection right away. As with most chocolate shops, you can expect to pay a higher premium for the fresh products. But with so many options, you will have fun picking out what you want to try next. Review #2112

I haven't actually been to Blu Boy, but I was recently gifted some delicious Blu Boy chocolates that I just had to review! Each one was beautifully designed and tasted better than the next. My favorite might just be the Fiori di Sicilia white flower. It tasted like the chocolate ganache had just a perfect hint of rose mixed with orange blossom somehow. Yum, yum! You definitely can't go wrong with these chocolates.

My experience at BLU (located a few steps off the square in Bloomington) was brief but packed just the punch I was needing in that little sea salt caramel. BLU Boy is the kind of pit stop where you forget your diet, go for the chocolates, splurge on the cake and order a froo-froo coffee drink. Oh, and while you're at it, go for their made-in-house ice cream (because your cake is lonely without it). The space has a few tables if you're looking to have a meeting or stick around.

A slice of the Chocolate Cake and a cup of Skim Milk.

This place makes me glad that I don't live here because I would be a fatty and the dangerous part would be that I wouldn't care. hahaha... Well, my wallet would care. I guess I won't be that much of a fatty. I guess I'll start from there. Most of their desserts are almost $5 (this ranges, of course... a cookie is around the $2 mark). Each chocolate is $2. It is not cheap. I got a cup of skim milk because I wanted milk and that was $2. I can get an organic gallon of milk for the same price as a slice of cake. That aside... the shop is a cute, small little place in downtown. I walked by it before, but didn't think much. It 's called "BLU Boy". Chocolates and baked goods did NOT pop into my mind. Then I saw the name again when I browsed on Yelp. Then I read the page. Then I decided that I MUST visit. After all, the people behind the place had a thing for DARK chocolate. I LOVE DARK CHOCOLATE. I pretty much just love chocolate, but I don't like desserts that are too sweet - so dark fits the bill. Too sweet desserts are always a concern for me in the States, where most desserts seem to be infused with sugar... and then coated in it with sprinkles on top for good measure. I walked in as one of the employees finished wiping down the windows. It was around 4:30 PM. I think it was around shift changing time because people came in then out and then into the back. They didn't have any uniforms so at first, I thought they were bringing in friends... but then they started talking about work, reminding each other what needed to be done still, haha. The display area is small, but enough. There was a section just for chocolate to the left. Then there was a section for baked goods on the right ranging from creme brulee to macarons (only 2 flavors offered... I only remembered one of them contained elderflower) and a ricotta cake (recommended to me) along with their usual chocolate cake. They also had a cheesecake, which she said they usually don't have. The place even had ice cream! I decided to go "traditional": a slice of chocolate cake with a cup of skim milk. I placed my goodies on one of the tall "bar" tables. It was wobbly. As I moved, it moved and made my milk splash. That was when I found out they had a self serve station where I got napkins to wipe the spilled milk. At this point, the girl who helped me went somewhere and I was pretty much alone in the front. She actually came back as soon as I finished cleaning up, haha. The good thing is that most of my milk did stay in the cup. :) I was a little paranoid that I would need the milk to counter the sweetness of the cake. The cake. The cake was amazing. Not sweet at all and it consisted of 3 layers of chocolate goodness. It wasn't bitter, but it was dark. Moist and somewhat dense, but not brownie-like. It wasn't all that sweet. In fact, I could have passed on the milk and been okay. It was covered in this light whipped "frosting" cream that also used this bittersweet chocolate and was dusted with unsweetened cocoa powder. It wasn't too chocolately and gave the perfect balance to the cake. The first ever cake I ever purchased that wasn't too sweet and didn't come from an Asian bakery! I never thought the day would come... It wasn't the biggest slice so I wouldn't say the portion fits the price, but if they use the good stuff (really good chocolate comes at a price), I guess I could let it go. From the taste, I wouldn't be surprised if they did. I sort of wish I could try their other goodies. I was tempted by that ricotta cake they had. They also had a somewhat steady stream of customers who bought cookies and ice cream... but all to go. I stayed there for a lot longer than I suppose most of their customers stay, because the girl kept on checking up on me while she did things in the back. I even started to feel like I HAD to leave, but I had come to try out the place, get my sugar fix, and waste some time, so I didn't budge until a bit over 30 minutes (maybe even 40 minutes) later. Service: Friendly but only just enough to get their job done. Helpful when asked for recommendations because everything looked divine. Cleanliness: Appears to be pretty clean, so no complaints. Place in General: Small but cute. Not good for large groups... Desperately need to fix that table. Food: Stupendous. I would definitely try to drop by on occasion if I live here. As it was, I got my chocolate cake and after dinner, dropped by again ten minutes before they closed to grab a slice to-go for my Hubby. He's one of those "as long as it's edible, I'll eat it" kind of guys... but I'm sure he'll appreciate it. If not, I will appreciate my second slice, two days in a row. Drink: Milk is milk is milk. :)

As delightful tasting as they are looking.

Purchase and slowly, bite by bite, enrapture yourself with the Fiori di Sicilia chocolate. That is all. I could stop this review right now. But you probably want to know why I loved this tiny chocolate so much? I had asked the lady tending the counter for her favorite and she mentioned this flavor. Upon it's description I was not sure if I would like it. The tiny little work of art (covered in little white flowers) is a dark chocolate with a citrus, flowery flavor. Complex. Yet simple. Beautiful. It reminds me of sucking the nectar from a honeysuckle blossom when I was a child on a hot August day. Thanks for the time warp, Blu Boy. I can say without a doubt that this chocolate morsel was by far the best I have tasted in the entire United States (and I travel A LOT, and eat A LOT of exquisite culinary fare). Everything else in my box of six chocolates was very, very good. This place is my addiction, and probably one I won't be able to shake until I move far, far away. P.S. Small space inside. Probably want to take your treats 'to go'.

Not a big coffee person, but I do love chocolate. This cafe is tiny but you don't want to miss it, I've had the best piece of chocolate cake in my life here. I've also had a brownie here, it's amazing as well but insanely rich, eat with caution. Blu Boy uses local ingredients for their baked goods and you can definitely tell the difference. They also have macaroons and creme brûlée that I would love to try sometime. If you're walking around downtown and need a dessert or coffee after dinner, come here! You won't regret it

Almost every time I've come here, they're either out of something or the fryer is down/not on yet. They have non dairy milk listed on the menu, and the first time I came here, I ordered and received an oolong milk tea with almond milk, but next time, when I tried to order a green milk tea with soy milk, they said all the milk teas were made with non-dairy creamer and they could only do the alt milk for lattes. All that aside, I have never been unhappy with anything that I actually got. Their matcha latte (regular or strawberry) is pretty good and the honey boba is excellent. The regular sugar level is too sweet for me, but less sweet is great. The cheese corn dog varies in the ratio of cornbread to cheese and how "done" it's cooked, but I've never gotten one that was bad. The most recent one I got was the best. They are kind of difficult and messy to eat because the melted cheese doesn't want to stay on the stick with the breading weighing it down. I haven't had the issue with the super long wait time again. The corn dog normally takes about 10 minutes because of how long it takes to make the thing, drinks are usually ready sooner. Most of the baristas are friendly, some not so much. I have gotten the eye roll once when I asked for a topping they were out of even though there was no way I could have known this. I do think it's overall worth it to come here, because again, the product is good and the cafe space is cute, but the situation where you can't count on anything being available is frustrating.

Wow! The Chocolate Moose Moved!…read more Who knew? Not me that's for sure! What can I say is that I was desperate for Ice Cream. And not just 'any' Ice Cream' either. But I wanted the ice cream only 'the moose' has. It was one of those moments after 10 pm at night, and I was without wheels, wondering how I was gonna get a little satisfaction for this craving I seem only to have late at night while having no transportation. Ironic, ( kinda like my nose itching every time I get my hands in dishwater). Perhaps you can relate... maybe not. Anyway I am a 'local' here in Bloomington, which is to say I've lived here almost all my life, ( except for those 'lost years' in Indy.... wherever they went.), Where DID they go? Anyway, I sure can remember the Chocolate Moose, as I'm sure many can, where it once stood in its original location at 401 S Walnut Street, in a tiny little A-frame building, which was actually located in a rather inconvenient spot if you think about it, although I doubt that ever affected it's business negatively. To be honest I had thought the Chocolate Moose just went out of business and closed down. This was just what I gathered when I pulled up with my Granddaughter to get Ice Cream as we had done many times before and the place was just... gone... like it never even existed. Was I in the wrong place? I felt lost, betrayed even. , Why didn't anyone tell me? Am I the only one that didn't know they didn't shut down, but simply relocated? And why did no one find this information newsworthy or important enough to mention? this was a part of our lives, for Chrissakes! My kids and I, trips with their gramma when she was still with us, rest her soul... More than that, it's a pice of history, a place of nostalgia, of good memories... how could this have happened ? Well, my friends, as it turns out, 'The Moose' is very much still in business, yeah, it just relocated to a bigger, trendier, commercial space, one of the new things here in Bloomington, new apartments buildings with retail space below , and they are EVERYWHERE! New buildings that is. It bears mentioning I'm not exactly happy about that, but change happens, and they tell me 'change is good', but I've not found any personal evidence of that as yet, I'm not exactly comfortable with 'change', but whatever. I had to do this thing, so I contacted the 'delivery app' people and placed my order, I had to spend $20 to get it delivered so I made sure it was worth it and started it off with one of my personal favorites, the lemon custard, it's quite 'yellow'! And although yellow is not one of my favorite colors, LEMON is one of my favorite flavors, at least as far as Desserts are concerned. It tasted the same as I remember, and I couldn't help wonder why they didn't just keep the old location and 'expand'? But I'm like that, very curious and always wanting answers to random questions no one else concerns themselves with. This could explain the passion I have for writing, for me it's like a 'feeling validator', works better than Therapy in my opinion, but in my opinion, Ice Cream IS THERAPY! And it saves money and is yummy, what is there not to feel good about? But I didn't stop at the Lemon Custard, I decided to also try their 'Latte'. Save your money for Starbucks overpriced, selection, just as good but... well.. overpriced at $6 for a large. So feeling pretty confident I would probably want more ice cream from the moose before I would be getting sufficient transportation, I also added an ever popular 'Banana Split' to my order, struggling with the options of both 'home made' and 'soft serve' but keep in mind you are limited on the 'soft serve' somewhat. There are three (3) choices; chocolate, vanilla, and 'twist'. I opted for a custom concoction which consisted of strawberry, chocolate, and Grasshopper, ( think mint Oreo). For toppings I chose black raspberry, hot fudge, and marshmallow, I think the whip cream and nuts were extra, jus sayin. Keep in mind they also offer 'vegan' ice cream. I'm not sure what this is but I'm guessing it's for those of us that are lactose intolerant, like me. However, this only affects me sometimes so I admit I totally ignore it. I risk it much more than I should, Good thing on this particular occasion my system found my choices agreeable.

Not comparable to what you get if you visit a real Japanese curry house, but still delicious. The menu marks it as spicy but, while it was warming and hearty, I didn't think it was very spicy. I like how they prepare their tofu - the texture is perfect for holding sauce. The lavender milk tea was the basic stuff from a premade mix. Not bad but not great. I think they may just have used too much of the mix because the drink was very sweet and a little thick. The grass jelly was also firmer than usual so I suspect this was a premade canned brand of not particularly high quality.
