My friend and I were so excited to try out this new bar after hearing so many good things about it. To start the ambiance is fantastic. It really brings you back to an old Hollywood kind of feel with all of the decorations, and the mirrors all around us made the space feel bigger than it really was. The service was pretty good considering how packed it was and it felt like we were being attended to by servers who were excited to be there! We started with a round of drinks and I got the Midori sour. The drink itself was good, but it wasn't anything to write home about. I have seen more creative, better tasting drinks elsewhere. We also ordered of the almonds because we were hungry and they made for a tasty snack, but the portion size was quite small for 4 dollars. It's such a vibe! Went here after a date for a little after dinner drink and ended up having two delicious cocktails and played Drag Bingo. We had a good time. We didn't have a reservation but was able to be seated. However, we were seated in an area that was already reserved, so we had to move. The server was extremely apologetic and gave us free shots for the inconvenience. Wonderful service, beautiful ambiance, and yummy drinks. I'll be back! read more

Easily 5 stars! The ambience is incredible. Super chill vibes, not too loud so you can talk with friends (or a date!), and the cocktails are delicious. It was a vibe. Climb the stairs at the Hotel Ulysses entrance, hang a right, pass through a set of red curtains, and you'll find a low-lit, velvet-clad, mirrors-everywhere bar. It was giving vintage Art Deco movie palace and retro Vegas like the Peppermill Lounge. I expected Josephine Baker or The Rat Pack to walk in at any moment. The mirrored bar, walls and ceilings create a theatrical, slightly dizzying effect, while warm pink petal lamps and plush purple velvet bar stools and curvy lounge chairs keep things romantic. To drink, there were classic cocktails and a customizable Old Fashioned menu. We both tried the Junglebird (very good). He tried the Final Colada and the hostess had the bartender put a concoction together for me that I did not like and sent back. Of note: The cocktail menu ingredients were barely readable due to the light black cursive font on gold paper and the low lighting. Overall, we felt we'd had better drinks elsewhere. I am rating 6/10 which is all a matter of personal taste and preference.  Service from our hostess was 10/10. They have a small snack selection of roasted almonds, marinated olives and rosemary chips. I would have liked to have tried it, but was unaware. The guests were diverse and of various races, including a cross dresser and also 2 lesbians in the banquette beside us who clearly needed a hotel room. Overall, a cool experience. Went to Bloom's for the first time this past weekend and I wasn't disappointed! Went on a Thursday night around 9 and there was plenty of seating before more people trickled in. The person at the door of the hotel and everyone behind the bar was super friendly. We were checked on throughout the night which was nice. The decor and ambiance of the place is top tier but it doesn't feel uptight or stuffy. Our drinks were very solid and filled to the brim lol. I think the bar staff should have some kind of cart or tray to deliver the drinks since the tables are on the small side. Overall the spot is great for a night cap and pictures with friends. I originally wanted to try out Ash which is in same hotel but has food. They unfortunately closed early so could not. Came here the next night as like to give places a second chance especially right after opening. Though they obviously tried hard they fell short. There was nothing special about drinks or place that I have not seen in numerous other cities. I wish them luck as great they did this in Baltimore. Interesting the hostess who I had talked to night before telling them no one called to tell me ash closed early and my reservation could not be honored did not acknowledge me. Newer cocktail bar located in the Ulysses hotel! I came here and got a cocktail while I waited for my table at Ash Bar to be ready. Once my table was ready they let us take our drinks into Ash bar with us. I ordered the il tizio cocktail (I think that's what it was called) which was like a whiskey, espresso martini. It is a little strong, but it tasted just as good as it looks. I really liked the ambiance and fancy, vintage feel of this lounge bar. My friend who is visiting from out of town for our homecoming weekend and I arrived last night for our 9:15 reservation. We were seated right away. The ambience was beautiful. It was looking like it was gonna be a vibe and be an amazing night. However, there was a 3 foot long industrial air-conditioning duct directly over our heads. Last night, it was only in the 60s, so it was freezing and also who can enjoy and relax when you're being blown in the back of the neck with extremely cold air-conditioning? OK no worries so I asked the waitress if we could sit in one of the open tables she tells me that they're getting it ready for another party that's made a reservation that's coming in. Ok...and so we ask well can't we sit there and they can take the table that we are sitting at when they come in? She tells us "well then, THEY will be cold." Speaking about the people who are coming in next after we are already here and I've already placed an order for drinks and food. I felt like I was in the twilight zone, why would she say this to me that I should be concerned about two random people that have a reservation after me and if they are going to be cold or not, and therefore I should just deal with it?? She basically said sorry, ladies, and just walked away.... So after she refused to move us, I asked her well. Can you do something about the air-conditioning? Again, nothing happened... I don't think anyone wants to sit inside of a cocktail bar and be extremely uncomfortable while spending a couple hundred bucks. My girl and I were just trying to have a great night but obviously that ruined it so, we asked for the check we paid our check and we left. We felt very unwelcomed and like we didn't matter because in fact, a stranger that has not arrived yet we should care about them being cold... The group of women next to us had also previously been sitting where we were sitting and had also requested to move so clearly this has been an issue here. My issue is the lack of customer service the lack of hospitality. We were basically just told to deal with it and I just find that completely unacceptable, especially since we were literally looking at two open tables. The place is beautiful. I really wish I had had a better experience, however I'll never return here and , unfortunately, can't recommend it. read more

Blooms is the swanky cocktail bar located in the new Hotel Ulysses in Mount Vernon. It is like something out of a James Bond movie, with a mirrored bar, partly mirrored ceiling, and some mirrored walls mixed in with a plush, pink velvet feel all around. This place is new in town and it's very sexy! It's small and intimate. The ambiance here is warm and sultry. It reminds me of the conversation pits they had in the 70s. The staff are very attentive -- anytime my glass was around half full, they came up and asked me if I was ready for another soon. I would say they were surprisingly my favorite part of my experience here. You can drink at the bar, but they also have servers if you want to sit in the booths.
