Amazing store, polite staff, and always great deals on anything you could possibly need.

Today, I visited the store to return two unopened items I had received as a housewarming gift. As I approached the checkout line, the cashier--an assistant manager (older woman, name unknown)--was immediately dismissive, saying only "Come on" instead of greeting me politely. I explained that the items were purchased online for in-store pickup, and I had both the order number and the emailed receipt from my friend. She stated that online purchases could not be returned in-store, which is incorrect. According to Ace Hardware's own return policy: "We recommend that you make returns of online purchases to an Ace retail store near you that can issue you a refund (less applicable shipping, handling, and other charges)." Her tone and demeanor were unprofessional and gave the impression that she did not want to assist customers. I later returned to the store and spoke with Jesse, who was polite, knowledgeable, and promptly processed the return without issue. The assistant manager should be familiar with the company's return policy and provide courteous service to customers. read more

Very rude older staff who really don't want to be bothered by helping you. I've tried to shop there because they're local, but they make it awfully difficult. The only time they get active is before store closing - they must really hate working there and can not wait to leave. Do not come in half an hour before closing, because the ONLY thing they will do willingly is close the store (bring items in from outside, lock things up, etc.). read more

This Ace is minutes from my house, I've always gone here to fill my propane tanks to my 3 year old RV. This week I went to do the same but was told my three year old tanks were too rusted on the bottom and the clerk refused to fill them? He then said new empty tanks would cost $89. Reluctantly, I went inside to purchase a new one plus a fill! The woman at the register advised me the new tanks were actually $99 and stated the man who fills the tank shouldn't have quoted me a price? While she called him to verify the price he told me I glanced online since there seemed to be this discrepancy? Lo and behold a neighboring Ace had them on sale for $79! I showed the clerk. She advised me they don't match prices. So I walked out advising her they would never see my money again! I proceeded to the neighboring Ace where I bought two new tanks! AND they looked at my tanks and said they were fine!! I proceeded to a local gas station to fill all the tanks, the new ones where I should be set for the winter!! I will NEVER set foot back in the Ace hardware on Bloomingdale to spend my hard earned money! Shame on you people!! read more

When you thought "Brazil River" was really going to same day deliver for $2.99 extra and you waited to 11 pm and no one shows, go to Ace Hardware and get your AC back on. Florida heat stinks and I needed a ground for my AC. I cooked last night believing id get a delivery. Next day I walked into my Ace Hardware and the guy standing at the door knew exactly what I needed. These guys are like the Concierge at the Ritz Carleton. They have their store clocked. They know exactly where everything is. I really appreciate that and when my spend is low I make an effort to load up on the Candy's. I love my Ace Hardware and now feel compelled to make other stores my 2nd Choice. read more

This review genuine review is to the management. It's a shame that one bad apple can ruin the bushel. Been in living in the area for 7 years, and have visited this store many, many times over the years and especially since they moved to their new location. If I owned this small business I would want to know what my family and long term staffer are handling customers to the highest standard, especially be an ACE HARDWARE franchise. Great store, great people. Yes, as a customer you pay a premium for going there BUT you get the service you would expect from an ACE Hardware. I've been to the BIG BOX stores THOUSANDS of times over my life time for great variety, stock and price, BUT...you might get help when you really need a question answered or not. Most likely NOT. This location is great for items you need quickly but it's like a convenience store, it right around the corner and your paying for the convenience...AND the great advise. It's a good Deal when needed. One older gentleman with experience, knowledge and expertise that attempted to kind of help meneeds to understand the dynamics of their store and what they are up against. Bless his heart, he's missing the boat. Needed staples. Walked in the store, 2 people to greet me, Awesome!! "Good-morning". "Good-morning" Here what I need. He looked at it. Could not find any markings on it. He said "good luck" handed it back and then just looked at me. I looked at him. He looked at me. OK, now what I thought. I shrugged it off. "There are no markings" he said, "must be some French stapler". For what ever reason he did like my stapler and he was going let me know that for what ever reason. "I inherited in, I did by it" I said. "I don't know, there down here", I followed. (But wait...There ARE markings and sizes on the bottom. IMSee pic.). We walk down to the end of one isle and he said here they are, good luck". Again I shrugged it off. But then I said jokingly "I can leave and go somewhere else with that comment." "There they are, I mean you can go through all of them to find it." He said holding his coffee and gesturing to all the staple packages hanging on the wall. I looked at him, he looked at me as to imply, you are going to have to figure this out. Get started, I'll watch. (Ok that's up for interpretation) I thought Hummm. His projected un-willingness just glared at me as he laughed. I said "ok, with that said. I will go somewhere else and find it myself." I walked out. You might say "oh you were having a bad day, you are the one with the attitude, your in the wrong. ". Nope. Great morning, great day. I believe in costumer loyalty, supporting the small business in the community. I mean I've been with my mechanic 8 years since I've lived here. Customer loyalty is everything. Trying to have a uniform staff that best represents your business can be challenging. With all due respect, It's time to have a talk with this senior, expert...or it's time to retire. The later is most likely not going to be realistic so he needs to realize how he comes across. He's stuck. Hard to teach an old dog new tricks. I mean, you guys were totally staffed up, I saw at least 5 people there in the store RIGHT AWAY! Awesome. Helpers, ready to help. But if 1 in 10 is going to have to deal with the underlying attitude, he is the "weakest link". I'm sure he is an awesome person, knowledgeable, full of wisdom...but it's something to look at. It could be 1 aspect keeping you from that 5 star overall rating that EVERY small business owner wants, desires and NEEDS. Ratings are everything now days! If I'm in the wrong, shame on me. Went here to get a motorcycle key made! The guy who helped me out was super helpful and engaging! He had my key done in less than two minutes and even came with me outside to make sure it worked! I would give a five star rating but I was asked to remove my book bag before walking further into the store. I found that odd because I've never been asked that at any other establishment! read more

SCREWS & a LAMP SOCKET Only been to this store two times. The first time I needed some small screws. I took the old ones with me to make it easier. The employee was not very friendly and made me as if I was inconveniencing them by asking for assistance. Today was my second and very final time I will ever visit this store. Before I left the house, I went online and looked up the part I needed. Then called the store and was told they had three in stock. 30 minutes later I walked in the store with the item still on my phone and I was shuffled off to two different employees that walked me all the way to the back where the parts were located only to have the employee claim she couldn't find it and then we went back to the front of the store to check the computer and they then said "We have three in stock" we then walked back to grabbed it from where we previously were. I walked back up to the front, I paid and left. What should have taken 5 minutes was a 20 minute ordeal. if time is important and you wanna feel like a store is happy you came in, DO NOT visit this location read more

Even though I live only 5 mins from this store, I always go out of my way and drive to either the store in Seffner or N. Riverview and not this store on Bloomingdale ave. Reason is...seems like this store NEVER participates in any of the Ace events one sees as advertised on tv, nor do they honor any kind of specials one may see on tv in a sales flyer. I went to this store this summer to purchase a EGO mower and not only do they not carry them (other stores do) but I could not even order it on line and pick it up at this store. During holiday weekends in the summer, on national tv you see an add about come to your nearest ACE to try some bar b que...not at this store as they don't participate. Last week for Black Friday sales, there was some good sales in the flyer (on tv) along with several good coupons, but not at this store, as they elected to NOT participate in the sales. I'm totally done with this store and gladly drive 8-10 miles out of my way to support other Ace stores rather than this on on Bloomingdale ave. read more

This was my first visit to this store. We went in looking to sand and repair some water marks on the bathroom ceiling after a leak. We were referred to Al in the painting area. Al was extremely helpful. He gave us great advice and the items that we needed. We were clueless when we went in, but came out confident. It wasn't a what you might call a big job, but we have never done anything like that. Thank you for all the help! The results are awesome read more

I work out this direction so it's really easy for me to stop here on the way home from work. There's a traffic light and everything! So far I've only bought a keychain, some furnace filters, and potting soil here, but customer service was very good. A man took me back to the furnace filters and explained that the 30-day ones will put less of a strain on our system and they're less than $3 each. Sure enough, I installed one and the noisey start-up of our a/c system ceased. The cashier called someone to load the soil into my car for me, and I really appreciated this since I had on my work clothes. They have a really good selection, even fancy pet foods such as Blue Buffalo and Call of the Wild. They also sell some locally made goods such as sauces. I'll definitely be back! read more

The store is cramped! They have a variety of stuff jammed in a small store. Prices you have to watch. Some items are within reason and others are just over priced. Best to stay focused on your intention; otherwise you may find yourself paying a lot more than you originally had planned and the worst is it's most likely on stuff you didn't need. The owner of this Ace is fabulous! With our power being out from Hurricane Irma and after two nights with no power-no air-we decided to stop in to see if they had a generator. They don't usually carry generators, but so many customers were asking for them that the owner found some in Tampa and had one to us within two hours of our inquiry. Awesome customer service! Are you aware that Ace Hardware does not accept returns from other ace stores even if you have a receipt ? I was told by the manager they would be doing me a favor in returning parts for me. The parts I bought or a sink cap and a sink grease trap both of which were unused they told me they were hurricane supplies and they didn't have to take them? Mind you I bought them five days before the hurricane hit and it was because I changed out my sink in my kitchen I bought extra parts and did not need those . The items were unused sealed and new? And I had a receipt? By the way anyone you know use the a P-trap after/before the hurricane? The point I'm making they were trying to broad-spectrum anything purchased in the store was a hurricane supply ridiculous don't ever go there I know I am never going again read more

This place definitley has everything you could possibly need for the home as far as improvements go. But oh my goodness...if I was a kid I would have gotten lost in this place. It is so cluttered! The prices arent very competitive and I think I would still shop at some of the other places first before coming here. read more

I live in the area and this is my local 'go-to' store for most home related items. The staff is made up of older guys who know their way around a hardware store and aren't afraid to answer your questions or call in a second opinion on something. They readily admit they do not have as large a selection of items as the Big Box stores. But seriously, most of the things you need around the house and garden are available right here with easy convenience and decent prices. All they need for a perfect score is a pot-bellied stove and a regular checkers game. read more

The customer service at this location is outstanding! I had multiple questions and the employees were more than happy to help. There are other hardware stores closer to my home but for the service I received here, I will drive the extra distance. Great store! Advantages over big box stores: I don't have to walk the length of a football field looking for an item, and I don't have to walk the aisle a dozen times to spot the item I need. Could ask an employee, if I can find one closer than a football field away. Next, walk the length of a football field to pay the cashier. When I walk into Ace, I'm always greeted immediately and asked if I need help. Lots of very knowledgeable and helpful people working there, even when my best explanation for what I need is a "wacha-ma-call-it" for my kitchen sink drain. Cashiers are friendly and efficient. Negatives?: Might pay a little more for an item...but heck, I make that up by grabbing a free bag of popcorn at the door when I leave! lol read more
