Bloom Cafe is a tea-inspired dessert cafe offering a variety of cake slices and pastries as well as coffee and tea drink offerings. They also have soft serve and sundaes. This particular location of Bloom located along Dundas St. W. and Chestnut St. is the cafe's newest location (they have 2 other locations downtown) where I believe space wise, this is their largest location.
I visited Bloom Cafe on a Monday early afternoon to grab a sweet treat. Upon entering the cafe, the space is airy and well-lit with wooden accents throughout. Your eyes are drawn to the counter with rows of delicious looking cake slices and pastries on display. The menu is also extensive with many coffee, tea, and tea latte offerings. They also have soft serve as well as already prepared onigiri as well.
I opted to grab a soft serve - the mix (matcha and gardenia flavour) in a cup. Staff were friendly and I received my soft serve quickly. The portion of the soft serve was also filled the entire cup and it was a great snack to enjoy. I sat by the window seats looking out into Dundas St., enjoying my soft serve. The matcha flavour was not as strong as I'd like it to be (it could be stronger) while the gardenia flavour had this floral taste which wasn't too overpowering (it reminded me of jasmine!). The combination of both soft serve flavours worked well together where the soft serve wasn't too sweet.
During my time there, customers were coming in and out of the store. There is plenty of seating at the store and they also have wifi as well if you'd like to get some work done. The atmosphere is chill and relaxing.
Overall, a great new location of Bloom! Will definitely be coming back to try their cake slices as well as tea lattes (and will grab more soft serve as well!). read more
