    Our kitchen before
    Cecilia S.

We are very happy going through Block to get our kitchen redone. By using their services they were able to: 1. Know what kind of quality materials to order 2. Strong design and style sense 3. Have a pre-vetted contractor that was excellent (Taconic Remodeling) Having never done a large remodel before and being new to the area where we bought our house, the above benefits helped to ease a lot of our worries and reduce the amount of Googling normally necessary for a job like this (many, many hours of Googling). Selecting the design from a pre-selected catalog made the process easy. We would never have found Taconic Remodeling without Block and every one of the workers were professional and easy to work with. A few things to note, there were a few minor details in terms of inches being off which could have been addressed by a more thorough measuring of specific appliances for our space. Note in the pictures how the faucet is not lined up with the center of the window and the one drawer is blocked by the range knob. There's nothing that can be done about it at this point, but for anyone who is OCD about these things perhaps they can be more hands on during the design and measurement process. Or maybe having the appliances selected before measuring out the space will make the final calculations more exact. Overall, we are very happy with our new kitchen and love it. See the before and after photos and it really has transformed our home.

We were very happy with our overall experience with Block and our contractor for our kitchen + laundry room renovation. It was important to us that we worked with a trustworthy contractor and knowing that Block already vetted them, made the process a lot less stressful. The design process was streamlined, our only critique is that it felt a little rushed and it would have been helpful to have more time with the designer (hence the 4 stars).

    After pic!

We were overwhelmed with the idea of finding a contractor for a recent renovation (new kitchen, and floors for the whole place). Block learned what we needed, paired us with a great contractor, and helped along the way with whatever we needed. Would use them again for other projects!

Use Block! I have had many house renovations and getting my bathroom done by Block was the best decision I have made. The design process was seamless. Obtaining the materials on time, in a time of material delays, meant that my contractor was able to schedule inspections, sub contractors and get my project done. The materials are beautiful and the bathroom came out even better than the design. Let me tell you about my great contractor! Dan is the best. He oversaw the whole project which meant I did not have to. He is a great communicator letting me know the status daily. His detailed work and oversight is what made this project a pleasure.

WOW! Block does an absolutely amazing job. we just bought our apartment and the bathrooms needed some serious renovations...after much research we settled on Block. The design process was seamless and straight forward, they allow you to customize just about everything. Construction actually finished sooner than expected and we were kept in the loop on a daily basis. We even wanted to make some last minute adjustments and they were totally accommodating to us. Will 100% be using them when we decide to do our other bathroom renos!

    Before

We worked with Block to renovate our pre-war co-op kitchen. We've never gone through a renovation project before so don't have anything to compare the experience with, but we are overall very happy with the finished kitchen. It's now a bright, clean, and functional space. The contracting team they paired us with was professional, got the work done on time, and communicated clearly from demolition to the finished room. The package the Block team assembled for us to provide to the co-op board was detailed and impressed them, helping us get through the approval process quickly. However, there are a few things we would have liked: more time with the designer and better communication from the Block team before the break ground. We were never sure how long things would take or why. The designer was very skilled and accommodating, but we felt we didn't have enough time to communicate some of the things that would have made the kitchen really work for our family.

    finished bathroom!

However, typically gift those on my list something other than food. Given my extensive inherited and elsewhere sourced kitchen equipment, utensils, tableware, it's not a place I'd ever purchase anything in those categories. For example, I'm fully stocked in enamel coated cast iron cookware, although it's nice to check out their Le Creuset selection. (Important to me since I've completely stopped using non-stick cookware.) If you follow my reviews, you may be surprised I'm also not in the market for a fully automatic espresso machine that costs over $4K! (To be precise, list their exclusive Jura Z10 for $4299.95 plus tax. Wow! Glad William Sonoma made it a better deal by shaving off that nickel - which amounts to 5 now obsolete pennies.) That being said, I'm sure William Sonoma is a great place for a wedding registry, although could easily believe their non-exclusive items are cheaper online.

After reviewing the attached pictures, I approved my order. After another week of waiting, I contact Tilebar and inquired about when my order would ship and they informed me that my order had shipped, but I hadn't before this correspondence received any shipping info. When my tiles arrived, half of my wall tile order (6 out of 13 boxes) were a different tile all together--not the tiles from a different lot that I had been contacted to approve. When I contacted TileBar, they informed the that they no longer carried the tile that I had originally ordered. In the span of 4 weeks, I placed an order, approved a slight change to my order, received the incorrect tiles, and was informed then that half of my wall tile order could not be fulfilled. While I was able to receive a refund for my wall tiles, this series of events seriously delayed my renovations and I had to change my design plans. Luckily Home Depo carried the exact same tile, under a slightly different name, and while they didn't carry the color I originally wanted, I bought with them successfully (and for less) and would not recommend TileBar.

Coming from someone that is allergic to egg whites I don't really own a Whisk for that purpose. I'm familiar with the product from my Mother and Daughter. They're the cooks. I found this store interesting since it's named after a single kitchen utensil. You can order from the company online. I purchase items for my daughter as gifts. After all she bakes for me. I see this as a local business. During the pandemic I find it best to support them by shopping on line. Our Home goods stores in my neighborhood have closed. I'm happy for those of you that live near Whisk. I learned a lot about this cooking utensil from this business. They have a wide selection of other quality products not just whisks. For your information: A Whisk is a cooking utensil used to blend ingredients smooth and to incorporate air into a mixture. The process is known as whisking or whipping. Most Whisks consist of a long, narrow handle with a series of wire loops joined at the end. The wires are usually metal, but some are plastic for use with nonstick cookware. Whisks are also made from bamboo. Those Swedes could make some bamboo whisks! Whisks are commonly used to whip egg whites into a firm foam to make meringue, and to whip cream into whipped cream. Whisks have different shaped loops depending on their intended functions. Since the 19th Century, various mechanical devices have been designed to make whisking more efficient, under the names egg beater and rotary mixer. Until I started looking for a gift I had no idea there are so many varieties of whisks. I have used an egg beater for mashed potatoes! Any serious chef has a wide variety of Whisks in their kitchen. I'm not one anymore. I shop for gifts. This is a one of a kind store. They carry a large selection of merchandise. They sharpen knives too!
