After spending a couple years figuring out all the kitchen supply stores that dot Bowery this is my preferred go-to spot because the gave the right mix of good prices and actually having what you're looking for in stock. As a bonus, this store is spotless clean, well lit and the staff have always been friendly and happy to help. I'd read somewhere that the stores get more expensive on Bowery the further north you get, but I've not found this to be true and I'm very happy with Rainbow Kitchen :) The only exception to this is that they not seem to stock much cast iron equipment (if you *are* looking for cast iron Chef Supplies one block north at 294 Bowery has some good supplies, but TBH buying lodge online is also good option) read more

I bought some of my first kitchen essentials here years ago and still use them daily! In particular, a truly excellent kitchen knife I rely on constantly for meal prep. I'll always remember going here to pick it out. Good quality, prices, and service. Thank you so much! read more

Covid review! This kitchen supply store is still open with great good during covid! Theres actually a bunch of kitchenware stores nearby but few are open and this one is the cleanest we went to. They have some safe guards for covid like a plastic curtain to separate the staff from us, but otherwise precautions seem un existent. Things are very organized and the variety of utensils vary greatly, but the variety of each utensil is mediocre. Meaning you can find mostly anything you want but not in every size and color. We found a nice teapot, julienne peeler, cooling rack, and some ladles. Everything was fairly priced but they only had one peeler and it was on the pricier end when we compared to nearby stores. Overall im thankful for them serving kitchenware in the holiday season while we have extravagant food plans read more

Most of the stuff we got broke within 2 weeks, wood spatula and cutting board broke, colander rusted, cocktail shaker gets stuck shut. Wok and cleaver are decent read more

I bought a stainless steel pan frying pan and a pair of tongs for making steak. Previously, I had been using nonstick pans, which was all I had, and never seemed to get a good sear on the meat. Unfortunately, nonstick has completely taken over the retail market, and stainless steel is very hard to find at places like supermarkets (whether Chinese or American), superstores (Target), home stores (Bed Bath & Beyond), or even Amazon (at least at a reasonable price). Nonstick is great and convenient for most of the stuff I make, but there's nothing like a great char when you need it. Cast iron (more readily available) would have made a nice sear as well, but I wanted to make pan sauces with the fond, which makes it less suitable. Enter Rainbow Kitchen & Hardware Supplies. They offer a wide range of pans: nonstick, aluminum (a few different alloys to choose from in the 3000 series), cast iron, and stainless steel (some of which are pure steel, others fused with an aluminum base for lighter weight and better heat transfer, like the one I selected). The shapes are also numerous: skillet, round bottom, paella, saucepan, wok, etc. Generally they stock multiple sizes of the same brand. The rest of the store has everything you could possibly think of, from nigirizushi molds to meat thermometers (of which they have at least ten different types). The store itself is fairly large and the aisles are all stacked very high with goods. There is literally a 20-foot long section filled completely with tongs, which cheap ones available for ~$1 and expensive ones approaching $10. The prices are not bargain-basement cheap, but very reasonable and often better than Amazon. One great thing about this place is that they're open on Sundays, which is not true for the majority of kitchen supply stores on Bowery. read more

We're visiting from Southern California and happened upon this place walking towards Soho. I have been looking for an old fashioned Chinese spider since seeing this cooking utensil being used by Alice Water (and I believe one other ceWolfgang Puck while watching Master Class. They carry it here plus many other tools at more reasonable prices than other shops I have checked. They are well stocked. Service was great: staff were very helpful. read more

A go-to if I need a tool for anything. They are very helpful and priced correctly. I did buy one steamer basket that had rust on it so check your purchase first. The location is convenient as well. read more

I was in the other day to pick up a hamburger cover and ice-cream scoop. The young lady who works there was very helpful, understood exactly what I was looking for, and was overall very pleasant. They have a substantial inventory that is not covered in dust (as you will find at some of the kitchen supply stores on Bowery). read more

This kitchen and hardware supply store has so much amazing inventory for both the professional and at-home chef or culinary enthusiast. I went in to try and get a medium sized single-handled, non-nonstick wok, that fit my extremely picky wok standards, and on my first visit, I FOUND IT and more than I planned to buy! I walked out of there with the perfect wok, a Dexter-Russell paring knife, a vinyl cutting board for raw meat, new oven mitts, and a small condiment bottle. I could have left with so much more, but I refrained. The best part? Even though they didn't have a matching wok lid in stock, one of the owners offered to create one for me out of a similarly sized mixing bowl, but I told him not to trouble himself, as I'd surely be back when they had it in stock again and many other times. These guys are great! read more
