Pulled pork very tender , melts in your mouth
Kendall C.

We are driving On a long road trip from Coast to Coast . Stopping in too all the famous places along the way . Love the consistancy and tenderness of this pulled porch sandwhich. The bun even melts in your mouth. You order your food and get a number . Right in the heart of downtown , friendly staff , low key atmosphere

Sailor Dip

Stopped by Block 16 for lunch while visiting downtown Omaha. Restaurant had a casual, cozy, and rustic feel and was 60% occupancy late in the lunch timeframe. Staff were welcoming and attentive. I had the Sailor Dip ($16.95) and poutine fries ($7.95). The dip was served super hot and fresh. Very good sandwich and incredibly filling. But I had regret for not trying other more unique menu items. The poutine fries were also good but not served at the same lava hot temperature which would have made them better. Nonetheless, excellent lunch spot while in downtown Omaha!

Grabbed lunch at Block 16 on a Tuesday and it was SLAMMED at noon. After a decent wait in line and then about 30 minutes for our food, we got our poutine and Reuben. The food is not photogenic, at all, but the Reuben was INCREDIBLE. I didn't love the poutine, it was just fine, but I'd order the Reuben again in a heartbeat!

This place was amazing! So the wife and I decided to try this place on a recommendation from Siri, when I asked for a restaurant near me. We had heard good things about Block 16, but had never tried it, so we thought we would give it a chance, since it came highly recommended. From the outside it didn't look like much, typical downtown store front, but once inside you get a real earthy vibe and the smells start to fill your mind with good thoughts. It was an order at the front kind of place with self seating, and being that they were really and quite busy it was hard to find a seat, but we got lucky, grabbing the last table. My wife ordered the sailor dip and I got the poutine burrito with funky fungi fries, but it was a hard decision because everything on the murmured looked so good. Had to wait a bit, since it was cooked to order, but well worth the wait. Big portions and great flavors. Enough for us to take home and enjoy a second time around. It's was so good, definitely lived up to the hype. A bit expensive but really tasty and fresh. If you find yourself downtown Omaha, check this place out... You will not be disappointed.

Chef Driven, Farm to Fork Lunch ( till 8pm some days ) joint. The hand helds are unique and crafted to order. Daily specials will usually sell out, so if you're wanting it, don't wait! The staff at the front are helpful and take your order and give you a number. Food arrives in about 20 minutes. It's swift food, not fast food. The tables are 1/2 family style and half regular. Beverage options include fountain soda, and canned ( both beer and NA ). They have a lot of fry upgrade options.

Dragon Wrap , Crab Rangoon Fries, Croque Garcon Burger Combo

In a word, fantastic. In many words : Block 16 is a must visit in Omaha for American style food. Their ingredient quality, and mixtures of flavors are unmatched. Their focus on ingredients is clear in the freshness of your meal! No fear, anything you select to eat will have that special touch added to it. As a vegetarian, American style places just mean a lot of beyond burger swap outs. NOT HERE. I got a dragon wrap with sietan and it was FANTASTIC. the texture of the sietan was pull apart soft, the seasoning was a mixture that was reminiscent of gyro flavors in my opinion. The arugula and chickpeas brought brightness, and the dragon sauce kept everything dense and hearty. It's quite large as well, I found it bigger than the burger ! My brother got a burger with a sunny side up egg and ham on it. He is somewhat of a burger connoisseur as it's his favorite thing to explore. After the first bite he couldn't stop saying how impressed he was! The toppings and the quality of the burger patty itself was top tier. We shared some crab Rangoon style fries ... LAWD. They were so loaded that every bite had more than sufficient cream cheese, onions, and fried crispies. The environment threw me off initially. They've selected to put more money into their food in my opinion haha. You go to the counter to open, there is no table service. It results in a quick experience from ordering to eating!

Their wing off was amazing! I loved the way this event ran. It was nice to walk in when I had time and then I could take it home to eat without embarrassing myself in public . The wing flavors were awesome! My favorite was the Peruvian puff pepper but they were all fun. 10/10 would do this again!

Updated from my last visit. Block 16 is such a uniquely Omaha establishment. Buddy had the chicken sandwich don't remember the name but it was on the everyday menu. Said it was very very good. I had the daily special which was. A jerk style meat on the fresh pita it was exceptional loved the pineapple slaw as well.

Philly Cheesesteak Special and Duck Duck Goose Fries

A fun little spot. I knew everything looked crazy on the menu, but didn't expect to be completely perplexed on what to order. It's tight quarters and will fill up quickly at lunch. Multiple people looking for seats. The food comes quick though so they're churnin and burnin. They were very nice at the register and seemed genuinely happy to be there. The food was very good and you could tell they took good care using high end ingredients. Only complaint I have is I would've enjoy a different bread on the Philly. Was like a toasted potato hot dog bun of sorts. Still good. The duck fries are just wow, highly recommend. Check it out!

This burger was mouthwatering, and the fries were delicious!! The seating area was small inside so it probably gets busy however they were quick getting the order, would definitely recommend for a delicious burger!

Block 16 is written about in all the food magazines for a REASON! This place is absolutely show stopping! I can't even put into words how great the food is here. The crab Rangoon fries are so STELLAR!!!!! They are a meal by themselves if you are hungry enough! The burgers are always stacked and packed with great flavor! The people working are so friendly and happy to answer any questions about their rotating menu! The shop itself is sustainable and beautiful inside with the tall windows, compostable utensils and it's super clean!

Wow. Great restaurant we found on Yelp while traveling through Nebraska. Order at the counter and have a seat. They will bring the food out to you. We had a burger, chicken and fries. The Shroomy burger was excellent and cooked perfectly between medium rare and medium. The chicken thighs are nicely seasoned and very crispy. Moist inside. We also had the Poutine Fries and they were excellent too. Don't skip the lemonade as it is stellar too.

Wing Off
Joshua H.

Needless to say, Block 16 has some BOMB wings. We attended a special event they put on with 6 different flavors of wings and a winner was chosen. Needless to say they all were incredible. Fries are very solid and the sauce they hand out with their wings were incredible. Wait time was short and they were pretty busy so don't expect to get right in all the time. Theres a reason they have a line.

Ask the Community - Block 16

Do they have TVs?

No they don't have TVs. Small place with some larger shared tables and 2 person tables.

Does block 16 take reservations?

They do not.

Are you able to call in and place an order? I've been calling and I know they are extremely busy but it seems that someone hung up the phone? I saw a lane for pickup orders once when I went in person. So I am just double checking.

What is the best vegan dish?

We actually have several vegan options. Vegan sloppy nick, vegan tardiness, vegan poutine burrito to name a few. We make sextant in house

Do they have a kids menu?

Unfortunately no, but there is always a more simple menu item that would be suitable. It's a great chance for little ones to expand their palate and try something new! My mini me is a fan.

After a couple of minutes, I went back up to the counter and asked if they had already started making it, because I wanted to change my order. The kitchen was open, so I said to the cook, "Don't worry about it if you've already started. I know my indecision can impact people, and I don't want to be a problem." He looked at me and said, "No, it's totally fine. Would you like some veggies on the side?" "Yes, that would be amazing," I said, and walked back to my table... and burst into tears. It wasn't just what he said. It was the kind energy in his eyes. I felt someone who took pride in what he was making, and who genuinely wanted people to be happy. I found myself asking, why am I crying? Because in a world where so many people in power feel disconnected, where corporations can make us feel like numbers, being genuinely cared for in a small café reminded me how much I love humans. My husband and I first visited Memoir for our anniversary, and it was such an awesome experience, especially for a special occasion like that. After we were done doing all of our (admittedly annoying) photography of the awesome ambiance, we finally sat down to order and eat - and the original amazingness didn't stop there! The menu is not gigantic, which I always appreciate - because I get overwhelmed by too many choices. We picked a few things to share, at the recommendation of our server (who was also amazing and made sure we had a great anniversary dinner). They even gave us a card signed by the staff wishing us a great anniversary! Those little extra touches are what really make a dining experience special. We had the Kale and Bacon Dip for an appetizer, which was DECADENTLY delicious. The dip was smooth and silky with a toasty focaccia which went really well together with the two different textures. And we also grabbed the Pork Potstickers, and my oh my, were those fantastic. Delicate potsticker wrapper, with tons of filling, resting in a carrot-ginger dressing that complemented the potsticker fantastically. We were already so pleased, and didn't believe the entrees could top the starters, but they were just as awesome, which should be no surprise. It was easier to share two entrees, because we couldn't decide between two. Our first entree was the Faroe Island Salmon, and it was cooked to perfection, and served atop an indulgent bed of sweet corn risotto that I still dreeeeam about. And our second entree was the Rigatoni Alla Vodka, which was a little lighter of a meal, so was great paired with the salmon dish which was a tad heavier. I would recommend either of these dishes! We were SO full at this point but we knew we had to get a dessert since this was a special occasion. We shared the chocolate torte and devoured it, even with our extreme fullness. It was so fluffy and chocolatey and DELISH. From start to finish, this was one of the best meals I've had in Omaha. The service was on point, the eats were out of this world, and the vibe of the interior is something to behold. If you're looking for an awesome place to have a special occasion meal or just a nice dinner on a date night, look no further than Memoir for all of the above!

The steak was cooked perfectly! We were sat right upfront to over look the old market and it was clean and I loved the home feel of the space, very casual and comfortable. Our server (ugh, can't remember his name) was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and attentive. The ONLY thing that was a downside is that on yelp it says the restaurant is pet friendly and that is not the case. This fit the bill so we walked over around 5pm one evening for an early dinner after spending the day exploring the zoo. When we arrived the place was pretty empty - think maybe two tables occupied, and the hostess asked us if we had a reservation. We did not, and honestly she seemed a bit put out for a bit. I kind of wondered if we were going to be able to eat in this empty restaurant, but alas she decided it was okay and we were seated. This is one of my pet peeves at restaurants. I know, I know, that there could have been a ton of business booked for later, but it's such a bad look to make such a big deal about reservations when the place is empty. Also - while it did start to fill it was by no means full by the time we left. At any rate, things perked up at that point and we all got seated, ordered drinks, food etc. and had a good time. The server was kind and thoughtful and the food was pretty tasty. I had the fish and chips and shared it with my husband as the entrees are a good size here. My six year old had the kids hamburger, though we did have a bit of a scare when the server said "your cheeseburger will be out soon!" we had a long wait on the kids meal and when she said cheeseburger I immediately said - "no cheese!" the menu item was described as a "hamburger" with no mention of cheese and our kid doesn't like cheese her burgers so that was a really close call. I sort of got the impression that server wasn't accustomed to kids, but when the burger came out it was right and even though she had to wait, my kiddo gave it two thumbs up. Overall this is a good pub style restaurant in Old Town. Nothing really to write home about, but they do have decent food and local beers which was all we really cared about after a long day at the zoo.

The sandwich was perfectly balanced and flavourful, and the truffle frites were crisp, rich, and addictive. I could have had another round of them, but my waistline would not appreciate that, hehe.
