I have been going to this salon for blow drys for many years. I have never had an experience like I had this week. I had a wedding on Sunday. I made an appointment for myself and daughter on Sunday at 2:15 p.m. On Thursday I received a call to find out if we could come at 2 on Sunday instead of at 2:15 and I was happy to make that change. At 2:05 on Saturday I received a call to find out where we were. I explained that we were coming on Sunday not today. The girl who called said it was in the computer for the Saturday not Sunday. I explained that the appointments were made for Sunday and that the time was changed but I had no intention of ever coming in on the Saturday before the event. I asked whether there were appointments on Sunday at 2 available and told yes but I would still have to pay in full for the amount for the missed appointments. Not sure how two appointments were made for a Sunday were suddenly made into Saturday appointments but they were and I was charged for the missed appointments. Super business...they aren't the only game in town and we got terrific blow drys elsewhere and none of us will EVER return to Blo. I tried to call management to discuss this issue, left a message and was promised that I would receive a call back on Tuesday...guess that they don't care because I haven't heard back. Shame. At least their competition were happy to accommodate the both of us and we will be using their services from now on. read more

Came 11 minute late for my 12:00 appointment and was told I was too late ( literally 1 minute over their late policy- had tried to call ) but could come back at 1:15 for the next appointment. Appointments are for 45 minutes so there was clearly time to do my hair, plus clearly no one coming at 1:15??? I've never had a professional blowout, other than when you get your haircut, but teambuy had a deal here so I thought I'd try it out for a special event. Normally it's $35 and they have a menu online to choose from, although they just kinda ask you what you want. I think if you already have straight hair, it's not worth paying that much for a blowout. But if you have curly or more high-maintenance hair, I think it'd be a nice treat to go here. Also, they have some simple updos on their $35 menu (a fancy bun or a fancy ponytail), which is cheaper than getting an updo at most places. I asked them for some loose waves and to give my hair some more volume, since I know my hair will never hold a curl anyway. I was happy with how it turned out. They don't use too much product, which is nice -- your hair won't be crunchy after. And the products they use leave your hair smelling really nice! The stylist did pin curls for me and it took about 40 mins. The space is bright, pink, and super-girly. There are lots of current fashion magazines to peruse, dance music playing, and you can buy some styling products at the front. It's not a spa experience, but a nice place to drop by and be in and out quickly. They are also conveniently next to Mync Lash and Brow bar, if you want to go all out with your primping! read more

The yonge street address is the most awful place to get a blow dry. The girl who does blow drys here with the rainbow bright hair cut was absolutely despicable. I was fifteen minutes late and called to say I was going to be late. When I arrived she yelled at me for being late and told me I took away her break. She was downright rude and unpleasant and literally gave me the worst blow dry I have ever had. My 9 year old could have brushed my hair better. She didn't speak to me the whole time. I apologized more then once and explained that there had been an accident and thus for the reason for my tardiness. She continued to explain that she had no break. She was absolutely horrible. This place is a dive and the people in it appeared to be those who were rejected from other hair salons. Everyone leaving the shop looked awful. Thanks for a horrible blow dry. read more

This is one of their top locations! I go here like a routine every month and love their staff! I have read some people in these reviews complain whenever their final results aren't what they expected or wanted but I totally disagree, their staff here are SO attentive and the best thing to do is always be vocal with exactly what you want! **I especially recommend Daniella and Courtney** I have always said what I wanted and feel comfortable with (hot iron or blow dryer for styling), explained my hair style a bit (that it's curly but will go flat if there's too much work done to the top, and not enough volume) and they make sure to ask my opinion throughout the process. If there's ever a moment I'm not satisfied I tell the stylist immediately and she doesn't hesitate to listen carefully and make me happy. Love love love the manager, keep it up!! read more

I have been here a couple of times, and while I had a good experience and end result the first two times, I always witnessed staff being incredibly rude to other customers. Coming in for my third time before going to a wedding, I finally experienced the rudeness first hand, in combination with a horrible job done on my hair. I got the hollywood, which is supposed to be big curls, and literally within an hour of my appointment, all the curl had gone from my hair. The girl was rude to me as she was doing my hair, and it was clear that she was not very skilled in doing, it, she was fumbling around the entire time. The end result was something I could have done on my own, which is saying something as I am not very good when it comes to hair. I was very disappointed, and don't think I will be returning again. I stumbled across this blow bar after walking around Yonge. I was in a hurry because i had an event that night so it was very convenient for me to go here. I have thick long hair so i knew it would take time and i even asked for someone who was experienced and comfortable working with hair as thick as mines as well as the length. They said everyone was experienced but they gave me to the woman who was most experienced so I felt good about it. This blow dry felt like forever! After an hour and a half or so she finally finished and my hair was frizzy and my roots were wet!!! My hair was still curly in the back!! It looked terrible I've gotten my hair blow dryed before and never have i ever seen my hair come out like this especially since it took an hour and a half!! Costumer service at its worst! Both my friend and I booked appointments at this salon for our friends' wedding. Our appointments were booked well in advance, yet Blo Bar did not honour my friend's allotted time. The stylist my friend booked with was double booked. Of course, mistakes happen. No business or person is perfect. The disappointing part is how the management failed to respect their costumer's situation. No reasonable solution was proposed by Blo Bar to compensate my friend for her time. She was left to sit and wait while watching her, pre booked, stylist apply make-up. To top it off, she was made to feel very uncomfortable while the lazy receptionist obviously spoke about her to the stylist and client; constantly looking at my friend while they spoke. So this location will open for you at 9am on a Sunday (charge approximately $65! for a style) if you want (other locations do not do this). Nestled in a neighbourhood with at least 15other salons, you might think this Blo would try to ensure that their service meets some mediocre standards, but it falls way below minimum standards of service. What is worse, they don't even respond to a letter of complaint. I had booked 3 appointments for a Sunday for an important event. I had gone in person, showed them the style that I wanted, and was reassured, more than once, that it was most certainly something they could do. (Nothing complicated, but supposedly off their standard menu, which would mean it would cost an additional $20.00) I was also assured, more than once, that the appointment would take 30-45 minutes. I gave myself an hour for it. To begin, they had only booked two appointments, not three. Next, they had no bobby pins (save for the 2 they put in my kid's hair and 1 in mine.) A hair salon with no bobby pins is like a sandwich shop with no bread. Third, the appointment took not 30 minutes, not 45 minutes, not even an hour. It took 1.5 hours. And I was late for my other appointments that day. To make matters worse, the hairdresser had merely put giant curls in my hair, not the waves that I had asked for and which I had been assured could be done. (The owner had specifically sent me to this particular stylist when I showed him the picture. And the stylist, when I showed her the picture, told me that it could be done 100%.) I pointed out to her that my hair looked nothing like what was in the picture. She then tried to tell me that she had said they can't do "finger waves" in my hair (but when she saw the picture, she told me that they could do it, as I was not asking for finger waves.) This was really a ridiculous claim, given her reassurances and the fact that even on the day of the appointment, she looked at my picture again to do the style. In the end, I left the shop, not only without the style I wanted, and late for my other appointments, but with the side not even away from my face. Since they had no bobby pins, the stylist said she would charge me for a regular do (so not the additional $20.00). I wrote to the head office- their response was to forward my message to the franchisee to handle. That was about 4 weeks ago. The franchisee, of course, hasn't responded. The stylist was not terrible, and my hair did not look bad. However, it was not at all what I had requested and was promised. It is amazing how many things one place can do wrong and then ignore any requests to address the situation. read more

The "stylist" was rushed, used high heat when I asked her three times to use med heat (which made my fine hair smoke), put oil in after expressing that I don't put oil in my fine hair. After I paid, I was sitting at the front and heard girl at the front desk gossiping about clients as they left the salon. This place "blos". I could have done a much better job myself. We called when we were on our way to tell them we'd be a few minutes late and they informed us one may have to forfeit a wash if we don't get there in 3 minutes. We got there exactly 3 minutes late however they still made one of us give up a hair wash. My stylist was extremely rude and would not make any compromises (even to have the hair sprayed with water instead of washed). I volunteered to go straight to styling and 10 minutes later, after my scalp being pulled to no end, I was finished. When I asked to pay just for a dry styling because the stylist literally did half the work without the wash, she snapped that that's not an option. This place is WAY overpriced for a salon that is run by rude and unprofessional staff. Paid $45 to have my haired styled with a curling iron; a job I could've asked my younger sisters best friend to do. read more

I went to this place twice. Once for a blow dry and the second time for the Brazilian Blow Out. I spent over $400 in this place and I can tell you will never go to ANY of their locations again. The owners have terrible customer service. 1st Visit - I went to this pace to get a blow dry. Told the girl I wanted some volume with the ends flipped out. What I got was not much volume at the roots, bangs that were hanging in my face and flipping weird and almost curls at the end. I could have done way better myself. Also yes like the other girls review, I was getting burned during the blow dry at both visits and I think some of my hair was burned off at the second visit as I had way more wisps around my face after the Brazilian Blow Out. 2nd Visit - They had a deal going on the Brazilian blow out which after a few conversations with different girls there, they told me it will make my hair frizz free and basically wash and go. I have curly hair and don't mind it that way, I just hate the frizz. They said it would loosen my curl but not make it straight which was fine. I stressed the frizz free wash and go was the important thing to me as I don't straighten my hair often. They even have a postcard there that says, "guaranteed to leave your hair SMOOTH and (I think) silky". I don't have it anymore as I threw it out. After getting it done and I washed my hair for the first time with the $40 shampoo they told me was amazing and I must have, my hair was worse than before I did the treatment. It was half straight, half curly (so not piecing together) and in my opinion looked frizzier than before!!! I couldn't wash and go because there was no consistency to it!! At least before my hair was curly everywhere. When I called to speak to the owners, they deferred the call to their said Managers and pretty much wouldn't deal with it. I called the store and asked if I could return the shampoo, they said yes. When I wasted my time going there, they NO. My whole experience was like this in that everything I was told by staff was by the owners and managers. They ended up after much complaining giving me a free blow dry ($35 value) and finally returning my shampoo. Considering I spent $394.03 (for the Brazilian service and shampoo) which included a $20 tip for the girl, getting a blow dry isn't much compensation!! I could have gotten 10 of those with my hair dresser who is amazing!!! Don't support this business!! They need to stand behind their products and what their staff is saying and need some serious education on what customer service is!! read more

2 stars. meh. Don't get me wrong, for my own wedding, I had my hair done here with Ashley and it turned out gorgeous! Highly recommend her and Andrea. But do not come here for any day. I've been here several times since, to get my hair done for an occasion, since my hair is super coarse and curly and it would take me two hours to do myself. WAaay overpriced, and the last time I went, my hair was half straight/half curly and not at all what I asked for. I asked for more curls throughout, the stylist added two more curls in front, and just didn't seem to care ONE BIT. for paying almost $50, I could have done a better job myself, and saved myself the terrible experience. SO, I am just not coming here anymore. If you have suppper curly coarse hair and want an easier time styling it for when you want it done, might as well get yourself a keratin hair treatment, and style it yourself. I did that for about eight months, actually saved some money and the terrible experience. read more

This spring/summer there was a change in customer service policies and the environment/morale declined followed by a big staff turnover. I guess if you're only paid $10 bucks an hour why would you give a damn about the person sitting in your chair! If you are selling image how about their staff get a clue on how to dress professionally. They had no make-up on... and for the one or 2 who did it was not done very well. They didn't even have their own hair done to reflect any of the hair do's they sell! I was talking to some girls who had their hair done for prom there - only one out of the 4 was happy with their style. The rest had curl falling out of their hair.... looked like they coud've done it better themself and for FREE. Not a very good impression. If you look like crap - WHY would I let you touch my hair? Tried a Blo location for the first time today. I had an important business meeting and no time to do my own hair as it is very long and curly. I booked my appointment on line but I also called the store to confirm. The manager promptly returned my call and confirmed my appointment and gave me directions to the store. I had a GREAT experience! The staff were warm and welcoming and did an AMAZING job on my hair. It looks FABULOUS!! And it was less than half the price I am used to paying at a salon. The shampoo smells great and my hair is shinny and smooth and did not frizz despite the rain today! Blo offers the best value and service in the market. You should go check one out for yourself. I will not be going back there. The service was okay, even though I found it overpriced. I don't know if this a cultural thing (I am not from Canada), but when I got to the till, I was expected to give a 20% (!) tip on the top of an already overpriced service. And it was not like I had spent hours there, it was about half an hour. I mean, do you not pay your employees? When I tried to change it to 10%, the machine didn't work so it just gave me the normal price, which I accepted. Bought $120 for my daughter on December 16th 2013 and she went twice already and card still not working and I have called 4 times since then no one has been able to help and no one has called me back. I booked myself an appointment on Thursday, August 14th for the following Sunday (August 24th) This appointment was SUPER important as it was the morning of my BRIDAL SHOWER. This is why I did my research and made SURE I contacted the salon in advance to ensure I got the first available time slot on Sunday morning (which was 11 a.m.) because my Bridal Shower was at noon. I spoke to a gentleman whom answered the phone when contacting the salon, I asked a few questions, as it would have been my first time ever going to Blo on Yonge or any of the Blo franchise EVER. I was advised upon booking to come in about 10 minutes earlier (10:50 a.m.) so that I would be in the chair ready to go at 11 a.m. Sunday morning, I arrived at the salon at 10:50 a.m. (as advised) and was told that I was too early, as the salon wasn't fully opened yet and to come back in 10 minutes - okay no problem. Came back at 11 a.m. (as advised) told the receptionist at the front that I had an appointment for 11 a.m. and gave her my name. I knew by the look on her face that there was something wrong. She then asked me if my appointment was booked at that location, I said yes, as I chose that location because it was close to home as well as a 15 minute drive to the hall where my bridal shower was taking place. She notified me that there was NO APPOINTMENT booked and that I wasn't in the system, meaning at none of the locations in Toronto. I started to panic as now it was 11:15 a.m. my hair was up in a messy bun, dirty given that I hadn't washed it and was told that they were booked solid and the only available time would have been at 2:30 p.m. Given the circumstance, I was obviously upset and couldn't believe that this was happening the day of. The "Team Leader" approached the front upon the receptionists request and was advised that the gentleman that I spoke with had done this previously. They offered to schedule me in at the Yorkville location as it was a 10 minute drive and they confirmed that as soon as I arrived they would take me in. I left the salon in a hurry given that now it was 11:25 a.m. As I was driving down Yonge Street, I realized by going to the Yorkville location, finding parking, getting my hair washed then styled I would have been extremely late for my shower. I was beyond upset and on the verge of tears - I contacted the Salon to cancel - given the circumstance I was just in, I actually had the decency to call to CANCEL instead of NOT SHOWING UP! Needless to say, I drove back home in tears - I was not only LATE for my own BRIDAL SHOWER but my hair looked like AWFUL!!! Don't get me wrong I understand mistakes happen and if it were just a regular day and my appointment wasn't scheduled for whatever reason - no biggie but it was the morning of my BRIDAL SHOWER which I kept reiterating to the ladies. Also to my surprise, this had happened before to someone else, which they told me about it and yet it was happening again!? I don't usually complain or make a big stink over stuff like this but given that I had waited for this day to happen for MONTHS and for it to be ruined due to lack of competency. * LADIES - if you have something special planned and wanted to get your hair done at this salon - think twice - but if you do decide on booking, ensure you call 2 days prior to your appointment to confirm if it were actually made!! read more
