I got a trim by Darquis, a junior stylist, and she did an outstanding job. She walked me through what she was doing and how I could style this cut myself at home. Granted, this looked much better when she did the waves, but someday I might be ok at this :) I have gotten one other cleanup while I have been in Toronto and Darquis was by far the best stylist...I think she is even better than the three I have tried in Washington, DC. I am now a local to Queen West and I love this hair salon! It is beautiful, the people are nice, and the vibe is not too trendy like you can find in some shops across town, but it is not outdated either. Came in on a Saturday afternoon for a haircut with Brighton and she was FANTASTIC! She was so nice and made me feel so welcomed and comfortable. I showed her an inspo pic and I already had a premonition that my hair wasn't thick enough to get the same effect, but she still explained how we can work with my hair type and get as close as possible. She didn't make me feel like I wasted her time and I was not disappointed with the results. Even if I were, she made me comfortable enough to feel like I could say something. I will never go back to parlour ossington. I come in regularly for a simple grey root touch up (I did not come in for a color correction- This Salon has no idea of accountability and would prefer to back up their stylists who cannot admit their errors than provide a simple customer service of assessing what I'm talking about) and they can't get it right. I always ask for the color not to have any red in it and to try to blend it in. I left yesterday with too light roots with a reddish tinge, a blocky strip of colour, and a dark drip in it light part of my balyage. I called to speak to the customer service agent and scheduled an appointment to assess it. The customer service advisor then spoke to the stylist and called me back and left a message saying I was lying and canceled my appointment. I had sent in pictures of the splotche and bad roots. I can't believe how rude this person was to me on the phone and that long time customers would be treated this way. I will never return to parlour. read more

Compared to all the other places I checked, Parlour is much more affordable for good quality haircuts! Just note that due to COVID they will not wash/shampoo your hair so it's a dry cut. Hands down, the best salon I've gone to. Here you can choose either an online booking with different levels of stylists to choose from or just give them a call (I chose to call). It's part of ossington so definitely has a cool factor to it especially the awesome little lovebot streetart piece that sits in front. I asked for someone that was a excellent with short hair and wow, did I ever get an amazing stylist. Rejean was well versed with all the foibles I've had with short cuts and thick asian hair. I was absolutely thrilled with his knowledge base. I ended up with layers, waves and the best short hair cut I have ever had. Completely puts to shame my old stylist. Parlour has been my salon for the past 3 years and Ekat has been my regular stylist. After years of hunting for a new stylist--my former stylist moved to L.A--one day a friend recommended Ekat and I never turned back. I really like the vibe of the salon, the friendliness of the staff and I love and really appreciate the complementary coffee. I recently decided I was ready for a bold change and went to Ekat for magenta ombré colouring. It was a big decision and almost 10 years since my last hair colouring. Ekat is delightful company and always great at taking the time to understand the style or look I'm hoping to achieve. Went here as a hair model a while back. Hair cut was good but I didnt feel that welcomed. I felt like some staff were "too cool for school" if you get my meaning. Ask them some questions on products and get a bored answer back like I should know already. I have been to many hair salons and have no patience for that. Whether I am a "regular" customer or a hair model, service should remain the same. Not in a hurry to go back but I might sometime in the future try it out again. So good! I've never been to any stylist other than my own for all 20 years of my life. The staff at parlour are not only very knowledgeable, but extremely talented and kind. I have extremely thick, long, dark hair - after a lil life crisis - I really wanted to chop it all off, and get an ash/blonde balayage. I'm placing emphasis on the fact that my hair is NOT easy to work with .. but surprise! They did a fantastic job. Martha did the cut, Mikayla did the colour and style. Where do I start. I called and booked an appointment to have my hair cut and coloured. I asked the receptionist how much is the colour going to cost me with Jordon. Who is a Junior stylist. He told me it would cost $102 to do the colour and $45 for the hair cut. Never was I told there was another $7 fee for Covid. It would be nice if the receptionist mentioned that on the phone but No. You get a nice surprise when you get there. Ok so I booked the appointment and went to appointment. I get to the salon and as soon as I sit in the chair I get this really bad look from the receptionist and one of his co workers. They both turned around and said something to each other and gave me a real weird look. First off I found the receptionist is really rude. He seems to have an attitude problem and a chip on his shoulder. Jordon then starts colouring my hair. I have never seen a hair stylist colour hair like that before. I have been to so many salons in the city and never seen someone colour hair like he did. Every hairdresser always does the roots first and then waits 30 minutes or more to add colour to the rest of the hair. First off he doesn't even put enough colour on my roots I had to keep telling him to add more colour because I can still see the greys. Then he cuts my hair which he did even check properly. When he finished curling it. One side of my hair looked longer than the other side. Again I had to mention this to him. WHO IS THE HAIRDRESSER HERE ANYWAY??? This guy needs to go back to school and learn how to cut and colour hair. So he finishes doing my hair which I was not impressed. I go to the rude receptionist and he tells me $200 plus dollars. I said what?? He tells me it is $125 for the colour and $45 for the cut. I told him You said $102 on the phone. Then he has the audacity to say I never said that. There is no such price, that doesn't even exists. I said that is what you told me over the phone. He kept arguing with me insisting that he never said that. So basically he called me a liar. He was so RUDE and condescending. I was pissed off I paid and left. I will never go back to a place with such rude people that have such ATTITUDE AND ARE SO DISHONEST. I don't know how PARLOUR SALON HIRES SUCH RUDE RECEPTIONIST. I get home and brush my hair and I have a long piece that wasn't even cut properly. He left me with a long tale that doesn't even blend in with my hair. DO YOURSELVES A FAVOUR AND GO TO ANOTHER SALON. One the biggest stressors for me when I moved to Toronto from the US was finding a new salon. One of the things I love about Parlour is online your can browse the stylists available and find one that fits what you are looking for....for me it was someone whom was good at blonde balayage. I had high hopes for parlour but unfortunately it was a let down. I asked for a long bob and showed a picture of the hair length at the front and back, but I ended up with shoulder length hair in the front and a disaster in the back. When I got home and straightened my hair I realized the back of my hair was uneven. One side had shorter hair and it was evidently visual. Also, the customer service was horrendous. When I was getting a blow dry, my hair was literally being yanked. The hair dresser barely said a word and it just appeared she did not want to be there. I've had great experiences at Parlour over the last two years. They are quick to reply via email for scheduling and always give the reminder calls. Currently they are doing construction in the upstairs (Feb2019) so if you're going anytime soon, you actually have to go downstairs. It wasn't clearly marked and I was last there. I have had cuts with both Sam and Stephanie and no complaints. They listened to what I wanted, as I have long, wavy hair and am particular about the length. I color treated my hair for the first time with Sam and he did an amazing job. There was one piece that needed to be touched up and it was no problem to have him correct. He walked me through the process as I was a bit nervous. But was overall happy with the outcome. read more

I booked in with Stephanie, who was just killer in all areas: understanding what I wanted, the sly head massage while washing my hair, explaining the steps as she went along, and keeping things cool, calm and collected. Parlour is a hip little hair salon at Queen and Ossington, right beside the Lennox Contemporary gallery. I followed my hair dresser here from Coupe Bizarre, and feel much more comfortable in this small, clean salon opposed to the hustle and bustle of Coupe. The salon only features a handful of stylists, 3 girls and 3 guys, with 3-4 working at a time. Overall, Parlour provides a casual, laid back experience, where you can actually carry a conversation with your stylist and not have to shout over the too-loud music. Everyone is very friendly, and you don't feel judged by your hair cut or personal style. A student cut is $50. The decor is pristine and fresh, with white walls and cool art. The bathroom door is practically disguised into the wall! The highlight of Parlour? The bust of Jean Luc Picard sitting in the front right-hand corner of the salon, made by my stylist Charlotte's EX-boyfriend. read more

I've never written a Yelp review before but I had to share my experience at this salon. I called the salon before booking my appointment with Martha online because I wanted some insight on who I should book with since I have thick hair with long layers. The receptionist told me booking with Martha was a great choice because she is a senior stylist ($$). I booked with Martha and went to my appointment a few days ago. Martha was super nice but I am extremely unhappy with how my haircut turned out - I decided to give it a couple of days and to try washing and styling it myself before deciding how I truly feel about it but I am so disappointed and upset. I told Martha I wanted some of my layers to be blended better and that my hair was starting to feel heavy on the ends. My thick locks are now completely thinned out and my hair is only thick at my roots, giving me almost a mullet vibe... I also now have bangs... Instead of face framing layers. The whole reason I wanted to get my hair cut was for my layers to be fixed and to have more of a style when my hair is straight, but now my ends are so thinned out that it looks horrible straight and i CANNOT tie up a ponytail because it looks like I have such fine and limp hair. I wanted a wash and go type of hair cut and now I have to spend so much more time styling it so it doesn't look limp and dead. I'm not sure what their other services are like, but I'm super sad that my long, thick locks are now limp and fine and I have practically no style in my hair. I am getting my hair coloured (at a different salon!!!!) in January and I am now worried that it'll damage more easily since my hair is so fine. It is also to the point where I don't know how much it can be fixed unless I just leave it to grow back out because I can't compromise too much length. Overall, would NOT go back. read more

I go to Parlour primarily for hair coloring and bleaching, so I can't comment on their hair-cutting techniques, but I'm always quite happy with the result of my hair. I have dark black hair but I've bleached it blond, purple, and pink, and my hair doesn't feel any drier or has split ends and such. They work quite fast too! They bleach and dye my hair within 3 hours, and it's always nice and vibrant in the end. I've worked with two hair stylists- Zack and Maggie- and they have been nothing but lovely to me. The rest of the staff also says hi when they see me and I get offered beverages while I wait. One time I had quite a long coloring session so Zack got me coffee and cookies, which was really kind of him. The only complaint I have is that the chairs and sink to wash your hair in is super uncomfortable, I've never been to a hair salon with these weird chairs before. Other than that I'm quite happy with my experience at Parlour! The price range for bleaching and coloring dark long hair is between $280 ~ $330 depending on tips and how experienced your stylist is. I always get heaps of compliments on my hair so thank you for that! read more

EDIT: The owner, Tyler, contacted me after posting this review and apologized for the way everything was handled. He offered me a refund on my haircut and an appointment with the hairstylist I originally wanted to be booked with. I took his offer and had the haircut today. It went 100x better and I am very happy with my new cut. No longer unhappy with the salon and would now recommend it to others. I'm really unhappy with this salon. My previous cut was really bad and I was doing my research on different salons in Toronto since I'm new here. My roommate recommended this salon and since we have similar types of hair - super long and thick - I decided to give it a go. I called the salon asking for advice on which hairstylist to go with and asked for either a senior stylist or a master stylist depending on their availability. The less-than-nice receptionist (she seemed annoyed that I wasn't familiar with their stylists and that she had to help me choose one) paired me up with Nina and since I was on their website at the same time, I looked at her portfolio and went ahead with booking an appointment with her. I got to my appointment that day to be greeted by Mikayla who was to be my stylist that day. I was incredibly confused since during my phone call with the receptionist she specifically mentioned that I would be with Nina and I specifically asked that I would have a senior or master stylist and Mikayla was an intermediate. Mikayla went to go sort it out and the receptionist who originally took my call came over and explained to me that she took it upon herself to just switch my appointment to another stylist without asking or telling me first. I think this time she tried to be nice about it. She explained that Mikayla wasn't better or worse than Nina and said that if I wanted an appointment with Nina I could come back at 5 (it was 1). I really didn't want to go all the way back home and then come all the way back 4 hours later so I agreed to let Mikayla do my hair. She was nice and seemed to know what she was doing. She gave me some confidence in the cut that was about to happen especially since I told her the story about what happened with my last cut. The process with her was pleasant and I don't have any complaints about it. She was lovely and gave a great head massage during the wash. We agreed that my hair needs to be reshaped but that should happen during the next appointment. This morning I straightened my hair to find that the bottom of my hair is really choppy and not blended. It's something that's hard to catch when my hair is curled and my hair was curled during the appointment. It's not the end of the world and I can curl my hair for the next couple months to cover it but I honestly wish they had just stuck to the original agreement which was to put me with Nina and have her cut my hair instead. Overall really not great. Not happy with the salon. read more

Second time at Parlour on North Yonge. Saw the same stylist, Samantha. She was excellent!! I just think that the front desk/booking person (I think new since Covid) should advise customers about the $7.00 Covid fee, or it should be posted on the front door, or on the website. At the time of booking (in person) and upon completion, the covid fee was not mentionned until I asked why by bill was $7.00 higher than the stylist's normal cutting fee. Balayage and cut with Aimee: I went in wanting a deeper brown than it ended up being so I was conflicted for a bit, until I got a flow of compliments from everyone HA! I LOVE the colour I ended up with and actually wanted this years ago, but gave up on this dream because every time I tried it came out copper. Aimee created a nice mix of blonde to my natural brown and it's perfect for my skin tone. Thanks girl! Other than the product, Aimee was awesome to talk to and I really appreciated how much care she showed. Loved how she gave me a rundown of the cost before starting and consistently checked on me under my foil hat. Disappointing. Especially considering all the high reviews. I went there because I was looking for a new stylist and it had great reviews. I very clearly explained both when making the appointment and when meeting my new stylist for the first time that I was looking for someone with an eye for what would suit me and to give me recommendations. The stylist I got only agreed with whatever I said, and flipped every question I asked back to me. I also specifically told her that I wanted to get rid of all my split ends and was cool with losing as many inches as necessary to do so. While she did give me a nice haircut, it definitely didn't address that - every time I glance down at my hair, all I see is the split ends that shouldn't be there. So, while I agree with the other reviewers that this salon has a super cool vibe, I won't be going back: it was a waste of $100. read more

I saw Anton and he gave me a lovely cut and balayage. Genuinely sweet guy, very easy to chat with. I'm getting lots of compliments on my hair, he did a perfect job with smooth and even transition from dark to light. My hair is very dark brown so I'm impressed. This place is hip without trying too hard. I can't stand pretentious salons, and I didn't get any of that vibe here. I had such a great experience at Parlour, with my stylist Sam! My hair grows at a snail's pace, and I hadn't had a cut in almost a year. I was feeling especially impatient with the lack of shape in my hair, and didn't want to wait the 2-3 weeks that I normally have to to get an appointment where I usually go. I saw all the good reviews for Parlour, was on board with the affordable price point, and decided to give it a shot. I was super nervous going in, as I've had some snarky stylists make comments about my hair and even my clothes before (I run a dog daycare, so I dress pretty casual since I'm always covered in hair and slobber - and I usually run my errands immediately after leaving work; so I don't tend to be wearing a waist trainer and a full face of contoured make-up when I hit a salon). My ends are bleached from an at-home ombre, and that tends to trigger stylists to try to convince me to cut all the bleach out, even when I explain how slow my hair grows, and that despite it being dry I put that color in there for a reason. So right off the bat, I asked Sam to not judge me too hard, that I'm well aware of my sins - and he just laughed and said everything was fine and really not that bad. (SEE! I knew it!) He really listened to what I had to say, and looked through the pictures I'd brought of what I wanted. My hair was pretty much all one length, except for a way grown out fringe, and I wanted a modern shag. He said that would suit my hair type really well, and we discussed how much length I was comfortable with him taking off. We compromised, and he was very mindful to not cut more off than we had discussed. I really liked how he kept checking in with me as to how I was liking it. He was really open to incorporating any little details about how I know I like my hair, making those adjustments happily. It was a really good looking haircut! Not only was the cut meticulous, but Sam was a delight to talk to! The conversation flowed really naturally, which was a relief as often it can feel really forced and awkward in these kinds of situations. Topics ranged from dogs, to Tinder, to Star Wars, to RuPaul, to cosmetic dermatology, ridiculous photo apps, and social media management...it was great! I'm looking forward to actually maintaining this haircut with Sam, and the fact that's it's actually affordable to do so is fantastic! Like many others, I've had hair horror stories that have left me jumping from stylist to stylist - until I found the perfect one. Unfortunately, I was in urgent need of a haircut and had to have it done in Toronto. After reading reviews for many salons, Parlour really stood out to me. I want to say that I respect each stylist's work and know that they are the expert, but I'm the expert of my hair. My hair is extremely annoying to work with because it is fine and curly/wavy. When I went in, I told my stylist all the details about my hair and what I needed done to it (I have had the same cut for about 3 years now). The one thing I always stress is that I do NOT want layers -- they have never worked in my hair, and every new stylist seems to think that they do. I explained to the stylist what layers do to my hair, and he tried to reason with me that the layers would work with his technique. I made it clear I wanted a maintenance cut to clean up and have blunt ends. Near the end of the haircut, my stylist explained that he was going to "soften the perimeter" of my hair, which was supposed to mean cutting extra flyaway split ends that weren't cut. As I watched him cut, I began to see layers developing, and at that point it was too late to say anything. When I saw my friend after, she commented on the fact that I decided to go with layers -- even she could see what was wrong. On top of this, the only styling treatment I got was when the stylist straightened my hair before it was cut -- no touch up or curl added afterwards. I thought I had found a good option for haircuts, but I'm very upset that my requests seem to have been ignored and I'm left with hair that is difficult to manage :( read more

Last minute, I needed a place to get my hair cut. From all the good reviews, I decided to go to Parlour. Called the salon and just like that, they told me to come in the next day at 10AM to get a cut by Jen. One of the worse cuts I ever had. Choppy and uneven, she was just grabbing random strands and cutting it. She cuts it after it's been washed, then she'll dry it, and more cutting happens. So, a trim is no longer a trim anymore. Now, I have annoying side bangs that fall in front of my face and a puffy top layer - not what I needed. I asked for light curls for my style in the end. She used a brush and blowdryer. Unfortunately, thick Asian hair is stubborn and will not just curl like that. So, end product, a hot mess. She then tells me that "My next client is here, so if you want different curls, I'll get an assistant to do it". Also, it was a pretty awkward hour. Jen does not hold conversations nor smile, giving you the cold vibe. Definitely not what I want in a hair dresser. Got Rebecca (sp?) to fix my hair and she was super sweet! And tried her best to fix what I wanted! Right when I was about to write my review, I got an e-mail from Parlour apologizing for my dissatisfaction. It was really nice to see them redeeming Parlour and having great customer service. I'm happy to say that they have recommended me another hair stylist and I will be returning back to Parlour soon, once my hair grows back out. (An extra star for customer care!) Here I am, second time at a DIFFERENT salon trying to fix the mess Anton made a year ago. I chose him because it said he was a rainbow colourer, so I tbought he must be great with bleach and coloring.... Just quick recap of what happened, My hair was bright red. i wanted to go that nice ashy silver. he said he could do it.. he proceeded to bleach my hair which is great, I needed to go white. except he only bleached the bottom half of my hair. from my ear down... THEN when I mentioned it he played it off like yeah yeah im doing it after. he then slabbed on bleach for the top half. now the hair is two differebt blocked of blonde PLUS its patchy pink because my hair was red. soooooo to fix the patchyness by my roots...he dyed it BLACK. I loved the retro-but-modern look, and I absolutely fell in love with Matthew, the way he touches your hair has some kind of magic, I don't know. It's just... magic. All the hair products smell great and customer service is awesome too (online booking? Gotta love that!). The downside is the price, a bit over the top for just a haircut - c'mon, my hair is so short... But I have a haircut only once in a while, so I'm probably coming back. read more

I showed Lee a pic (honey hair/gold highlights) ,he said I'd look like "an Arab just off a boat" so he needs to tweak it. gave me HORRIBLE green ash blonde highlights on without changing my brunette base Apparently when I pointed at the pic I pointed at the highlights & said "I want the blonde" when I should have said "I want the hairdo!" So he assumed I just want the shade of highlights!! He washed it all out and just used the toner to try and reach what I wanted which was a very subtle classy golden and I ended with a head full of gold streaks. I was there for 4 hrs, he left me waiting for 45 minutes while he cut another customer's hair without explaining what he's gonna do next,I called my husband crying because I looked terrible and didn't understand what he was gonna do!!! I have no words for his attitude,he kept blaming me for being unclear and not knowing what I want even tho I showed him pics. When he started drying my hair he was so Terrible I actually took the ceramic straightner & fixed it myself. I paid $230 which I still don't understand how I paid them but I just wanted to leave that place so I can cry over my ruined hair. I'm going back to have it fixed with Franz the owner because I look nothing like the picture I showed him which had very subtle golden,I look like the sun and the blowdry is beyond horrible. I was shocked after reading all these great reviews... I went in and the service was like any other hair salon, the girl who did my hair did a good job, but it wasn't really what I wanted. I used to pay $100-200 for my hair cuts and I still feel $63 is alot of money for a 20minute job. I'm easy to please but the hair dresser was rude and making small talk was difficult. I will not be going back here, if I do I'm requesting anyone BUT her. All she did was brag about how much experience she has and how perfect and amazing hairdressing is. I am very outgoing and never really have problems with people. She needed to get her head out of the clouds and off her high horse. Anything I said to do with my profession she rolled her eyes at and said it was a difficult industry & that there is little money in it. By the way: EVERYONE in the WORLD wears clothing so I don't think importing/exporting and wholesale of textiles and clothing is a waste of time ;) RUDE hair dresser, I don't even remember her name sadly :( read more

I agree with all the Parlour praise! I had an awesome hair cut with Matthew. He was so nice, and an excellent stylist. He spent a lot of time asking what I wanted and offered a lot of good styling tips along the way. He really focuses on the details and made sure all my layers were cut perfectly. Thank you Matthew. The salon also uses paraben-free hair products by Kevin Murphy- they smell amazing. Hair cuts cost $60 (for guys/girls), BUT for students, it's only $50.If you're a lazy last-minute booker like me, you'll be happy to know you can just check the website for availability and book online - very convenient. read more

I absolutely love this place.... LOVE IT I decided to go for the ombre look and was really nervous on where to go...but after reading yelp - I decided this was the place. Walking in the receptionist greeted me immediately and I felt welcome. I sat down and within a minute Suzzi, my colourist, came to see me. She took her time to understand what I wanted and quickly went to work. I trusted her completely and before I knew it she was done. She kept me entertained with conversation and I was her only priority. My hair is really thick and she made NO comment about it, she just worked her way through with a smile. Many colourists comment on how they will charge me extra and the can't style my hair without an additional cost....not here :) Once all was done - she gave me a quick, cool blowdry, and I was ready to go. I couldn't believe how she captured my vision and made it look even better. I felt so satisfied with my experience and I will go back. If you want your hair coloured - Suzzi is your girl! read more

Amazing, amazing, AMAZING! I had such a great experience at Parlour! Everyone was so nice and knowledgeable, the space is so cool, the price is right ($60 for all stylists, $50 for students), and the Kevin Murphy hair products they use are wicked. A BIG thank you to Matthew who gave me an amazing haircut and special shout out to Mandy for the moisturizing hair treatment. I really can't get over what a great experience I had with the people at Parlour. Everyone really took the time to talk with me, found out what I wanted, and gave me exactly that. It has taken me a while to figure out how to rate Parlour. Parlour is not your regular salon. It is a large room filled with artists. If your experience with hair before has been stylists doing a fair to pretty good job, you will be impressed by Parlour. The staff here take pride in their work and truly perform masterpieces. A week ago I had my hair cut and coloured here, and really enjoyed it. I wanted to wait a few days to see how the hair was working out and to sort out my ratings system. Overall, 4 stars. But, the breakdown is as such: Decor: Okay. The pictures on Yelp were taken a while back I think. I guess I had high expectations as this place was top rated and raved about. But, the couch could be replaced, there is paint chipped in the back and the green in the bathroom makes ya kinda dizzy. There is however this amazing painting in the bathroom that I so love and want to have in my apartment!!!! Decor rating: 3 stars Hair cut: I was fortunate enough to have Brionie cut my hair. This girl is amazing! Turns out, as I was waiting for Brionie to come into the salon, I was staring at this woman who looked so familiar but I couldn't place her. Said woman sat next to me and had her hair coloured. Turns out it was Brionie's mom and I had worked at the same law firm as her when I just got out of university. Small effen world. Brionie looked at my hair and decided to flat iron it first before cutting. I was impressed. I have very fine hair and by flat ironing it, she was able to give me va-va-voom layers that I have never been able to get my regular hair dresser to do. *disclaimer - still love my regular hair dresser, Brionie is an artist and was able to sculpt my tresses into the ability to have Texan big hair opportunity if I so choose to do so* I must also stress that Brionie has the touch of an angel. Very, very gentle and relaxing!! Highly, highly, highly recommend Brionie. I will be back to have her cut my hair. 5+++++ stars!!! Cost for hair cut - just over $60 Colour: I noticed not many other people were getting their hair coloured (just Brionie's mom and I). I thought this was kind of odd, but didn't pay too much attention to it. Once Brionie gave me a kick ass hair cut, I was whisked off to get coloured by Francis (aka Franz). Francis looked at my hair and listed to my thoughts. I usually stick with a form of red and he found a colour that matched my skin tone PERFECTLY. He highlighted in the right spots, and left other spots untouched. The end result - a masterpiece that just "highlighted" my cut. I was impressed. I must also point out that when Francis washed my hair, I was in heaven. My scalp and hair want to marry his fingers. When Francis styled my hair he even gave me some handy tips and did a great job! Cost for hair colour - $145. Yes, $145. I wish I was lying or kidding here, alas I am not. This is part of the reason that it took me so long to write this review. I love the colour, but I cannot afford the price. When I looked on Parlour's website, the costs were expensive, but within reason. Had I known it was going to cost me that much to have my hair coloured by Francis, I wouldn't have done it. That being said, again, I love the colour and have had tons of compliments. I just can't justify the cost. Overall colour - 5 stars, cost....1 star. I will be back to Parlour, oh yes I will be back. But, only for a cut. I am also thinking with the prices they charge for colour that they could roll on some new paint and get a new couch and chair (the one you sit in to have your colour set is literally falling apart). I'm boogying down a bucket list of things I have yet to do. Item number six sillily was one of the scariest: try going really blonde. It took two goes, the magic and patience of Stephan (my new hair hero) and a whole lot of conditioner, but voila! I am blonde. I am also now a loyal customer to not only this place, but this tall, sunny hair expert. If you haven't signed a blood signature with your current stylist, you should really try Parlour. Went in for a balayage ombré ended up leaving with regular highlights basically 2 shades lighter than my hair because the stylist insisted that my hair would fall off going from natural black to golden brown and also if he even attempted to do ombré or anything besides highlights. I left so pissed he just kept arguing with me when I would tell him that I at least wanted the ombré or just something other than highlights. Went home and lightened it myself to the colour I wanted (actually even LIGHTER than what I wanted) and added the ombré myself without my hair falling off or any breakage. Such a freaking waste of $300 if you don't know how to do hair why are you a hairstylist. never again. PS. I literally made an account JUST to write this review.
