This place is amazing ! My best friend lives in Yorkville and always comes here to get blow outs and also up-do buns. I was referred to go to her favorite, Kenlyn (hoping the spelling is correct). I went in with an idea for an up-do bun and she nailed it! I wanted the bun to be a little more softer instead of slick back and straight. She did an amazing job and would love to have her here in south Florida for my future blow outs/up-dos. She was fast and knew what she was doing and I received so many compliments ! DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I could give 0 stars! I showed up for my blow out appointment and had to wait 15 minutes before I was casually told that they canceled my appointment. Apparently there was an issue with one of the hair stylists who couldn't make it into work so they canceled all of the appointments for the day. No call. No email. No notice of the cancelation. And no apology!!!! When I explained that I needed my hair done for a wedding in a few hours, and asked if they could help schedule another appointment for me - they were unable to help. The woman at the front desk's recommendation was to walk outside and look around for other salons. Would recommend Raffaello next door instead! After having visited drybar in NYC for a friend's bachelorette over the summer, I was looking for a place to get an updo for a wedding. I found and booked a 12:00 appointment at blo, which was conveniently located near The Four Seasons where we were staying. I arrived at my appointment early and was seated right away. While I was offered a magazine to look at, it would have been nice for someone to offer a beverage (water, tea, whatever). I was greeted warmly by my stylist and I showed her a picture of exactly what I wanted my hair to look like. She completed my updo in a timely manner, but there were several issues that I had throughout the experience -- 1. I had to ask several times for her to smooth out the flyaways on my hair (with spray or anything that wouldn't make it look frizzy from the teasing that she did to it). 2. In my conversation with my stylist, I learned that she has never attended hair school and her passion is for makeup. Now, I am well aware that you don't need a certificate to do an exceptional job on an updo, but if I am paying close to $90 for my hair after taxes and tip, I want an experienced stylist. Period. Which could be why my hair looked like a hot mess when she was finished. The chairs were cheap and uncomfortable; they weren't able to spin like most chairs at salons so I literally had to stand and hold the mirror to see the back of my hair, which I couldn't see very well. Upon arriving back at my hotel as I was ready to leave for the wedding ceremony, I noticed that my hair was not, in fact, neatly pinned and done and that pieces were falling out everywhere. I called immediately to request that someone redo my hair between the ceremony and reception. The receptionist was apologetic and courteous, but mistakes like this should not happen at an established business such as this. I had to head back to blo after the ceremony and the gentleman that did my hair did a great job. I wish I had been assigned to him in the first place, as returning after the ceremony took time away from the things that I wanted to accomplish in the few hours that I had to kill because I needed to get my hair fixed. I've been to one other Blo location before (Yonge/Eglinton), this one was comparable and I was happy with how my hair turned out. I got a regular blowout ($35) and asked them to do some loose curls using a flatiron. They didn't use too much product, which I liked, and it ended up holding for a full day -- which is a feat given my thick and stick straight hair. This location is quite small, so it's a little crammed. If you have to wait, you end up sitting at the back in a corner. But otherwise, the service was good. I didn't find the stylist particularly chatty, but that was fine with me. They do want to make sure you are happy with the results. The girl next to me had them re-do her bun several times! Her stylist kept adjusting it and finally she had the manager take it all out and do it all over again. I felt so bad for them because it didn't even look bad to begin with... But nobody lost their cool and they patiently tried over and over until the customer was satisfied. It was their 1 year anniversary when I was there and they had free mini cupcakes and italian sodas, plus little gift bags. It was August 10, in case you want to try next year;) read more

I love having a blow out as much as the next girl. I've been meaning to try a Blo location for a while. I decided at 11:30pm on a Thursday that the next morning at 7:30am would be a great time. Especially since I have class at 9am at Ryerson. Sure enough, there was availability and I could book that early with an appointment. Ben, my stylist, was super friendly and we had pleasant chatter. Once the hair dryer was going, that became a challenge. But it wasn't an awkward silence as I killed time on my phone. The results were great! My hair looked HOT. Almost too hot for daytime but I have a big personality, so I can pull it off. My 'Bloer' was quick. He took me in immediately since I was about 5-10 minutes early. The wash was skilled! I loved the smell of the products as well! Sure enough, I was done with 10 minutes to spare and strutted out to conquer my day! read more

I was very disappointed with my service at your salon. I got my hair and makeup done and it was a very poor experience. My hair dresser washed my hair and then started blow drying my hair without even asking how I wanted my hair done. Then when I told her what I wanted, she said I should have told her earlier even though she never asked. She was so frantic and all over the place. As well, she couldn't find any of her hair tools. When I asked her to fix things I didn't like, she didn't listen. The make up artist eventually intervened to fix my hair because the hair dresser would not listen to what I wanted. My make up experience was a little more pleasant. The girl was lovely and did my eyes beautifully. The face make up was quite caked on and I actually had to remove it when I got home before going out. That being said, her beauty blenders fell on the ground and she picked them up and put them back on the makeup table. Honestly, it was one of the worst experiences I have ever had in a salon. Beyond. I'm at a loss for words right now. My hair is an oily, frizzy bouffant and styled as if I told the stylist 'give me the New Jersey ladies who lunch mixed with Carmella Soprano and a hint of Mona from Who's the Boss'. My weekend hairdo will have to be a low ponytail because it was just tattered and teased into a state of disrepair, so I'm afraid to wash out all of the slimy, sticky, crunchy product she sprayed in the roots. Not to mention the amount of hair tugged out from the cheap wiry brushes. If this place supposedly specializes in blowdrys then why isn't every employee tooled with a Dyson or high quality hair dryer and nice brushes? This place looks like it was stocked by sally beauty supply's raided sale bins. The stylists here are out of touch in terms of hair trends (from this era) and working for peanuts so this place has high turnover and attracts staff who are new to the profession and very poorly trained. I went here a while back, to have my hair done for my birthday. First, the place is minuscule. So tiny. There was no place for me to wait for my appointment. Second, I had made an appointment and yet was seen almost half an hour late - which is unacceptable when you have other appointments to get to, so I ended up being late for my make-up appointment. The reason I was seen late? They let a walk-in go ahead before me. Now, it's nice that they take walk-ins, but they need to account for the appointments they have booked when allowing someone to be seen without an appointment. There was no water or anything, and I was dying the whole time. The whole thing just felt uncomfortable. They have you pick from a few looks, but the looks are basically as straightforward as a ponytail. It ended up being boring and something I could have just done myself. I used to go to Blo Bar to get my hair done. These days, I've found a new go-to spot but for my birthday, I wanted a quick last minute blowout in the midst of all my party preparations and only Blo was able to accommodate such a last minute walk in. The woman doing my hair was super friendly and I think she did my hair fairly well. Considering that I have thick curls, it's hard on most people. It take s a long time to do, and it's crazy long (hidden by the spring of curls). The woman who did my blowout was awesome. She did it all in just over an hour and she was pregnant! I felt pretty bad for her, having to stand and be in the heat conditions of a blow bar. For the most part she did a good job, but my hair tends to hold styles well and some of the sections weren't done quite right so they were a bit limp looking. Overall it still looked nice and I got complimented but not the best blowout I've ever had. I'm not subtracting stars for this purpose, the subtraction is all about the price. It's quite pricey. I would get regular blowouts if it were cheaper. In fact the reason I stopped going to Blo was because I found a cheaper place. read more

I have been to four Blo locations, this one twice. My first experience here was only so-so, but this last visit was excellent! I was defending my PhD that day and wanted to feel at my best. I booked the appointment online which was very convenient. This Yorkville studio is better than the Four Seasons as it is far less cramped. My appointment started right on time and the lovely woman who did my hair was pleasant and didn't cut any corners on the service (I have had that happen on occasion here). My 'do' was done at 10 am and I celebrated until two o'clock in the morning with hair in tact the whole time! Thanks so much :) read more

Went on a Sunday morning and asked for the Pillow Talk and the stylist I had was Vanessa. She was super nice and always gave me the heads up on the whole process so that were would be no surprises, so I appreciated that. Vanessa did a great job in turning my messy hair into really nice waves :) The reason why I'm giving this place 2/5 stars was for the experience I had afterwards. Their internet went down and after troubleshooting and calling the other locations for assistance, I wasn't able to use my debit card. I didn't have a credit card with me so I could only pay in cash - I'd just need to go out to an atm. The guy at the front desk was really trying to make the best out of the situation and I felt sorry for him b/c the internet connection going down wasn't his fault But as an established business, I expected that they'd have a better back up system in place in case their systems go down. (the receptionist told me that this has happened to their location before...not sure if the connection is bad b/c of their location, which isn't fully above ground) It took me an extra 30 minutes to pay my bill! Luckily, the brunch date I had was in Yorkville so I avoided running late. I went to a wedding on Sunday at the Four Seasons Hotel. I was looking for a place to get my hair done and was struggling to find a hair salon that was actually open on a Sunday, and that wasn't already full for appointments. I searched on Yelp and found Blo, which amazingly enough is located in the Four Seasons, but was nervous to read the reviews which aren't all that amazing. I decided to risk it, and was really happy with the result. It's a very small space, but the four women working there were all super nice and friendly, offering me drinks and making nice small-talk while I waited. My hairstylist asked me questions and was genuinely nice. After washing my hair, she took a few minutes to go over what I wanted with my hair, and showed me pictures of different options she thought would be best for my hair. I decided on loose curls and within 25 minutes my hair was done! It looked great, I got a ton of compliments, and it stayed put all night. Things I like: - Everyone working at Blo was really friendly and nice - My stylist took the time to talk to me before rushing into anything with my hair - She kept asking me how I liked things throughout the process, to make sure I was happy - it was a quick easy process- in 35 minutes I got amazing curls that didn't look like fake, old-school wedding hair Things I didn't like so much: - The Four Seasons location of Blo is a "mini-bar" so it's TINY with only enough room for 3 people to sit down, and one station for hair washing. If they had made me wait, I definitely would have felt claustrophobic Overall it was a great experience, and I would definitely go back! read more

Stick to a real salon. I was the first appointment of the day and wasn't even welcomed at the front desk by one of the three on staff. Most were standing around styling their own hair while sipping coffee and eating their McDonalds. No robes or towels here! The assigned stylist washed my hair with freezing water while splashing me in the face with my wet hair. She violently brushed my hair and yanked and tugged while flat ironing. I told her I wanted loose waves and I got near ringlets. At checkout, their payment processor asks if you'd like to leave a 20% tip after your $50 style! Ha! I came here to get a blow out for my wedding. I went at 9am and the wedding was at 12. I told the girl that I was getting married in a few hours and to make the curls a bit tighter so they would fall. She completely ignored that and gave me beachy waves. Then dusted a little hair spray and sent me on my way. Not 30 mins after the appointment, my hair was nearly straight. Also she was kind of rude to me with bringing me in and just the way she talked to me put this place off for me. She only asked me how I wanted it. Never asked me what I thought when it was done. Just rushed me to the counter to pay and told me to have a good day. Bad service, little attention to detail and poor communication skills. Won't be returning here. I really really really hate writing poor reviews....First off, heads up it was a bit difficult to find, its mid street across from LULU on the 2nd floor next to a Japanese restaurant. Very clean. Quiet (no music, not a lot of chatter on this Saturday) and no frills which does not bother me at all. I had an appt as a bridesmaid in a wedding. Mind you I am not from this Area so i just booked where the bride said was near her home with decent reviews. Got to the appt a few minutes early and spoke to the girl at the front asking if it would be possible to have the stylist pin some strands to the side as it was extremely hot outside for a wedding and I did not want the style to fall before the ceremony. I called 2 days before the appt and told them I would be bringing clip extensions and was told no problem, it wont change anything, you will be out of there in 45 minutes for your make up appt elsewhere without any issues.. The appt started about 10 min late, fine I allowed a cushion ....the girl who started to wash my hair seemed to be really nice, but once I got in the chair and told her I have my extensions , she seemed to freak out, had to step away, went to someone else and then came back. As she started to dry me I was not sure if she knew what she was doing, or if there was a language barrier but she did not seem to understand my request. She dried me with round brushes in my hair and said, you have to wait now 15 minutes so someone can do your extensions. Wait what...I was told this would not be an issue. I explained that this couldnt happen, I was going to be late to a makeup appt WITH the bride and she was going to be really upset if I didnt get there on time....I mean, WHO wants to tick off an already anxious and nervous bride right....? I waited about 7 minutes then in stepped the girl I spoke with at the front desk, she was able to put in my extensions and get me out within a reasonable time....and from the salon..I looked great....infact I looked great for a good amount of time..except within 4 hours the curls had started to fall, and by end of the night i barely had any curls left...when I took the extensions out that night, my real hair...had absolutely no curls. I mean..i assumed it wouldnt look as great after extensions came out but to be straight completely...what a waste of money and time! I get blow outs regularly in Chicago, they last 5 days normally, and with my extensions at least 2 days before it needs a restyle or wash. This is the second Blo I have been to (first one in california...im not a fan. Thanks to the girl who stepped up and helped...shes the only saving grace to this place....maybe its the product that they use....but this place is subpar to everywhere else...even drybar may be a smidge better (and i do not like that place as it is SO hit or miss). I just dont understand how the communication got dropped so significantly. And why I would be assigned to a stylist that does not know how to do clip on extensions when I called to ask about that specifically.... Rant over.... read more

Nice cozy location right in Yorkville. Had an awesome birthday appointment. I was able to call and get a same day appointment. I was greeted by a very nice woman - she was working by herself and cheerful as ever. Besides having obvious talent for hair she was genuine, talkative and a lovely person. We laughed and shared stories- felt like I was hanging with a girlfriend who did a great job on my hair. It was a lovely treat for my birthday. This is a review of the business practice/location: I've been to almost all of their locations. This location is rather odd, tiny entrance, cramped. No towels. They use these paper like napkins, that allow your clothes to get soaked during the wash and blow dry. Why use this? Cheaper than using a towel service? My back was wet, not acceptable! No bathroom - they said go next door to the Chinese foot spa?! Are you serious? Shame. NO WATER!! There was a big crusted water jug sitting on the table but no water in it. I'm accustomed to bring offered water at their locations or hair salons in general, but when I asked, the stylist said: "Sorry, we don't have water". Unbelievable. No clips to hold your "napkin" around the neck so it stays up No round edge flat iron to use for curling (only the best method of making lasting and natural looking curls?!)..other locations have them.. They didn't have a receptionist so every time the phone rang or someone walked in, they would walk away. Lastly, I bought a tab and asked for my email receipt which is what I usually get. However, what I got was a paper scribble and was advised that the email receipt will be sent to me in 2 weeks time after the accountant has processed tabs (something like that). 2 weeks later, no receipt and my tab is still NOT in their system. When I followed up, they promised they'd upload it ASAP. Ok, so this IS Yorkville - is this location going out of business or just uninterested in making customers happy? Off putting. Unsophisticated. They don't take customer care seriously: no water, no bathroom, no towels, not fulfilling basic financial transaction!!! The stylists were very sweet. Not their fault. read more

A friend of mine and I decided to go get blow outs before a wedding. We both asked for pillow talk, and were taken in at the same time. I waited for my hair dresser to ask me what I wanted but she never did so I ended up telling her. My hairdresser was a bit awkward, but seemed okay with a curling iron and blow dryer. I kept asking her to make the curls tighter because the loose curls wouldn't last the drive to the wedding. She kept making up the excuse that my hair can't hold a curl (it's naturally very curly, almost ringlet like) because it's virgin hair (it's not. It's dyed.) She kept having to go over the curls and didn't put any heat protectant on it. The next day it felt fried. She also used so much hairspray that my hair was rock hard. An hour and a half later, I ended up having to redo my hair myself. My friend had the same issue, with weird waves instead of pillow talk and her hairdresser asked her how much she weighed because she was so small... Not appropriate. We were both so disappointed with this experience. We both ended up redoing our hair an hour and a half later. We payed 60$ (including tip) for this and felt like it was a huge waste of money. No one listened to what we wanted, we didn't feel welcomed and both left with sticky, crunchy, disappointing hair. Next time, I'll just go to a real salon. read more

I've been to Blo before and had a great experience at the Bloor West location. That's why I didn't think twice about booking an appointment at the Yorkville spot for an event that I had that evening. I don't think that I will be going back any time soon. I arrived early and they took me right away. The lady doing my hair was really sweet, but after some time it was evident that she was new/in-training. She wandered over to the sink and expected me to just follow her, I guess? She soaked my face and the back of my sweater with water. That`s still alright though. Not terrible. After that, I spent the next hour and a half + (this was originally supposed to be a 45 minute appointment) getting my hair done in really floppy curls with straight sections at the ends and no volume. I`ve ordered this hairstyle off the Blo menu before and -- while what I ended up with looked ok -- it did NOT look like it was supposed to. The lady behind me didn`t like her hair and the manager had to come in and fix it. The lady next to me was asking for a glass of water as it was really warm in there and....they don`t have water or any other sort of beverage. Ok... At this point, I`m running really late for my event and just want to get out of there. By the time I get to the subway, my hair has completely lost any curl that it did have. I`d still give the other locations a shot, but now with some wariness. read more

I had a blow dry here during a quick trip to Toronto to visit friends. My hair looked good all weekend for pictures, so the stylist met my expectations. The experience is no where near as nice as going to Drybar in the states, though, especially for the price. read more

Worst customer service ever. I had a 10.00 a.m. appointment today and when I arrived (on time) there was no one at the reception desk and all the other employees were busy with customers. I told them I had a 10.00 o'clock appointment and they asked me to have a seat. I waited 10 minutes and they all didn't seem anywhere near finished with their customers. I had no extra time to waste because I had plans right after my scheduled appointment. The guy then came in to sit at the computer and said he would get started with me right away. We then found out that there already was a customer waiting for her 10.00 a.m. appointment and she had arrived before me so he got started on her. I told the lady that asked me to wait that I was in a hurry and her response was ' well so is everybody else '. I then reminded her that I actually had an appointment and wasn't just a walk in. And she said ' so did everyone else '. I said then you must have overbooked your appointments. She responded with a casual, ' yeah '. At that point, I just walked out. I am never going to blo again. So disappointed - Worst place ever I will never return to Blo at Yorkville - over charged and also charged my credit card as well even though I paid via debit and its a surprise how much you will get charged you almost need to find out before hand. Charged me a "tip of $30.00. I asked the amount when I called but it was different when I cashed out. I asked the person to get the manager (Chantel) to call me and has yet to call me back actually the corporation has yet to reach out to me I included them on email too. The stylists were friendly however I got a bruise on my head from their washing station... very uncomfortable! It would also be beneficial if they would have more pictures of the signature styles available, or if the stylists were a bit more up-to-date on current trends. I really wanted to like this place as well. I was lucky enough to have my best friends organize a bachelorette party for me, and Blo was part of our day to get ready for the evening. Unfortunately it was a disaster! One of the bridesmaids didn't even get her hair washed or blow-dried - but paid the same as all of us! Seemed a little silly to me when the name of the salon is Blo. In this scenario you want to trust the stylist - but in this case she got it wrong. My maid of honour went for the fishtail braid. She had pieces coming out of it everywhere. When she questioned this, the stylist went on to say it was supposed to look "messy". Well it certainly did - and then fell out an hour later. I actually spent an hour re-doing her hair for her. As for myself, the bride, I went for the Hollywood blow dry. I informed the stylist that I had somewhat stubborn hair so to feel free to use as much product as necessary to create lots of volume and body. She proceeded to blow dry my hair straight, used no product whatsoever. I left with pin straight hair - and spent another half hour redoing my own hair. I could not believe we had to pay for the service we received. I would really like to stress to everyone do not waste your money - there are plenty of fabulous salons that will give you much better service for the same price! read more

I went to the Yorkville Blo. The stylist seemed nice and we chatted a little. But the blowout ended up being truly traumatic. She scrubbed my scalp with loads of shampoo and rubbed it all throughout my hair, tangling it. I have dry, curly, brittle hair, which I told her. She used a minuscule amount of conditioner, swished it around and rinsed it immediately. When she asked me if I was OK with product, I said, of course. My hair needs lots of conditioners and can take a lot of product. She put a teeny amount of some serum in. She pretty much blew my whole head of hair dry before she even did the blowing in sections straightening part. It therefore wouldn't get straight, though she pulled, tugged, and blew. So she took out the flat iron and proceeded to singe the entire length of my hair into straw. Even that didn't really get it straight, though, it was still all puffy and hay-like instead of smooth and pliable. You could hear the bits of hair snapping off as she went. Now, four hours later, my scalp is flaking and itching like crazy and my hair looks terrible - hard and crunchy. You can see the difference in breakage. I cried in public walking around town. I spend so much time and money taking care of my hair, and now it's horribly damaged. I will never again go to a place like this without vetting first. read more

Curly hair girls stay away! I was shocked and disappointed to find out that when you arrive, you are presented with a choice of 7 styles from the "look book" . Nothing for curly hair girls. Impromptu does not work here as they don't even have a diffuser and only blow straight. I tried to leave several times, and caved in to their pleading to just dry my hair before I go (5 minutes worth of a blow dry) then they charged me full price. I booked four appointments at this location for my best friend's bachelorette party and our experience was awful. The stylists were nice but they did our hair one person at a time (instead of all together like they promised), which turned it into a 90 minute ordeal. Also, my stylist told me that since my hair was fine she would need to style it without washing or blowdrying it in order to create volume. I did not want to cause a scene or put a damper on the day so I trusted her judgement. I ended up getting my hair curled for 10 minutes and paying $40 for it. Of course, my hair was incredibly greasy in a few hours since it was dirty. The bride's blowout was also pin straight (not what she wanted) and another bridesmaid got a braid that fell out within an hour. The worst part about this is that when I called to provide feedback on our negative experience, the manager was "too busy" to speak with me and had a stylist call me back the next day instead to offer me 15% off my next service. When I said I didn't think this was appropriate, the stylist called me back and said that was all the manager was prepared to offer. Using a negative experience to earn more business is not the way to rectify a situation. I am extremely disappointed and will never return to this place. read more

Contacted the store many times to express my frustration and never heard back. Sent an email, never heard back. Spoke to the head office which relayed the message again to the store and was then offered a tiny discount on a future service with no apology for the blow dry and the mistakes that had happened since. Worst experience I've ever had at a blow out place (Mon Jan 11 @ 10:45am) - and I've been to many across Canada and the US. I arrived nearly 10 minutes early but even though my stylist was free, she told me to go downstairs and I waited as she attended to what looked like personal email. No welcome and no introduction so I have no idea what her name was. Offered nothing - no water, no magazine. Washing station was horrible - very painful on the neck. The napkin they used as a towel was useless and I ended up with a wet blouse so I had to go home and change before going out to my luncheon. Stylist was clearly not having a good day - didn't smile once and barely said two words to me. She did take time to complain to the other stylist that it was cold in the space (which I didn't think it was) and that it was a problem for her back (she claimed that the cold was bad for her bones). The other stylist told her it was warm enough and they proceeded to exchange barbs on the topic. So not only was I ignored, I had to listen to a nasty catfight and deal with her obvious upset as she tried to get me out the chair as quickly as she could: she turned up the dryer to the highest setting (burned my scalp at least twice - even after I told her it was too hot) and had to endure her tugging on my hair to blow it out. Even though I showed her a picture, she didn't get the bangs right (basically sticking up) despite attempting it twice. I had to fix my bangs myself before going out - I should have stayed until she made it right, but I just wanted to get out of there. Tiny place compare to other locations. Can only service 4 ppl at a time. Had my hair rushed and ripped through, my stylist (Genesee) kept looking at her watch and was ripping my hair when she was blow drying. Will not return to this location ever. Shocked for yorkville. Hair turned out fine but was not a pleasant experience. Didn't even try and have a conversation or make me feel welcome. read more

I would never come here again. I got the beach wave blow out and the curls were so small. I almost looked like a poodle plus I had no volume in my hair at all. It was super disappointing especially when I went to the one near Yonge and eglinton and they did an amazing job. Plus on top of that the girls at this Yorkville location are kind of snobby and was not welcomed with a warm smile at all. I would never come here again. read more

I decided to try this out as I had a wedding to go to and had heard good things. My hair stylist showed up 15 minutes late because she was getting coffee, did a very short and uncomfortable wash of my hair, tapping me on the head when she wanted me to lift my head, which has never happened to me. They use paper towels to dry your hair here, which I find very unprofessional as I am paying $50 with tax and tip for a blow dry. My clothes were soaked after my wet hair isn't easily dried with 1 paper towel. She dried my hair and I wasn't satisfied with how it looked, but she didn't seem to care and just kept putting hairspray etc and I felt like she was trying to get me out of there as soon as possible. Definitely not worth the money, I would never go back. read more

I have been going to Blo Dry Bar for the last year about one time a month. I've always had a great experience and my hair styles were great. Last time I went there was a new person. My scalp was so burnt because he kept getting distracted and leaving the hot air on one part and I had to constantly get his attention or intentionally pull my head away. My hair also didn't look as good as it has in the past. It also usually lasts about 3-4 days, but my curls feel flat within a couple hours. I was not very impressed. read more

This was my second time at a Blo. The first time (Bloor West location) was very disappointing. I thought to myself that I really should give the franchise another chance, afterall I find the idea is amazing. So off to Yorkville I went hoping for a Holly Would 'do straight off their menu. What I didn't realise was the amount of pain I would experience there. It was about 10 mins into the blo that it occurred to me pain=hair loss - and boy did it ever. My scalp was so sore afterwards that when I left, the wind blowing through my hair caused discomfort. To boot, the curls looked unplanned and I really ended up looking like nothing spectacular at the Christmas party. Rather, I looked more fresh out of bed. It did not give me that boost of confidence a great coif can only give ;) I really wish she had brushed my hair first with a paddle brush rather than go straight from wash to curling brush. I suggested to her once or twice that itd make the process easier but she's the expert... My suggestion for Blo: work on the discrepancies between the skillset of the employees. Some hairstylists in there really created amazing and elegant looks (I suspect it was the owner, she had very short and spunky hair herself - she made her clients looks great!) Like my mother always said, fool me once shame on you, twice shame on me. I will not be going back - much better option is to get a blow out from a junior stylist at a salon (they tend to be avail last min). read more

I recently went for a "blo out" at this location. Let's start from the beginning of my terrible experience. As soon as I arrived I wasn't greeted by the receptionist even though she was standing at desk. I said hi I'm here for my appointment and she said "you're early, take a seat". I thought that was rather rude but wasn't going to let it bother me. I was then asked to come to the sink by my stylist. She asked the type of look I wanted and I told her lots of volume with blow dried waves. She takes me to her chair and starts blow drying my hair with her fingers and this continued for the rest of the appointment, not once did she use a round brush on my hair. (I could have done a better job blow drying my hair at home) once she's done blow drying with her fingers she takes out her curling iron and starts giving me these tight curls and not to mention my hair was so flat (I asked for soft waves with lots of volume) she finishes and it was not at all what I asked for. I figure at this point I'm better off just going home and fixing it myself and that's exactly what I did. Very disappointed with my experience here and will not be returning. On their website it says they specialize in blow outs. They definitely do not, I don't think they even know what a blow out is. What a waste of $50. read more
