My face and back of my shirt were soaked. I touched the back of my hair after the first shampoo and my hair was dry so told the lady and she wet it. Then she changed my soaked towel put in conditioner and said I'm leaving you for 10 min. I said wait, I gotta get to work. She said "you'll be put by 920". I said are you sure? It's 856am?? She said yes I promise. Came back washed the conditioner out. It's 9:02 and she said someone will be with you soon. I said you're telling me I will be out in 18 min and you're leaving me here. It'll take her less than 15 to blow dry my hair?? "Yes yes don't worry" she said. Soooo the stylist came to pick me up at 9:14!! She put her hand in my hair and said "your conditioner needs to be rinsed out" which is true bc the person who washed my hair did such a terrible job!! Another stylist said "no Swan washed it". That's the hair washer. Sooo I missed my work meeting bc I got out at 9:35. Got charged $50 for terrible service. I didn't tip. My stylist was Marina and she is AMAZING. I am from Texas and wanted big Texas hair (very few stylist can achieve this) and she did a FANTASTIC job! I was getting compliments before I even left the mall where this dry bar is located and all night throughout the night I got compliments. The Vancouver locations have always shown excellent customer service and have consistently respected the longstanding relationship we built. On the rare occasions when something unexpected forced me to cancel outside the allowable window, they were always understanding and never penalized me. I recently moved to Toronto and have now had three appointments at Blo Yorkville -- and unfortunately the experience has been very different. My appointment was for 6:15pm, scheduled around my daughter's birthday dinner. I also had a long-awaited furniture delivery set for 3-4pm which ran significantly late. I called Blo's Toronto main number to explain the situation and ask about my options, and was told I would be charged the full amount if I didn't show. Wanting to avoid that, I chose to leave the delivery and rushed to my appointment. I arrived at 6:10pm, five minutes early. There was only one stylist working, and she informed me she didn't even know about my appointment. She was still working on another client and estimated a 10-15 minute wait -- but based on what I saw, it would likely be longer. With the salon closing at 7pm and the stylist still needing to finish her current client, it was clear I wouldn't receive proper service. Despite the fact that I arrived on time and was physically present, Blo Yorkville still charged my credit card as a "no-show." I did not miss the appointment -- they simply had no stylist available for the booking they confirmed. This was deeply disappointing, especially compared to the exceptional service I've always received from Blo in Vancouver. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and reviews both their scheduling practices and their approach to customer care. Loyal clients should not be penalized for the salon's own staffing issues.

So I went out on a whim during the Civic holiday dialled around in Chinatown to see if I can walk in for an appointment. Let's be real, there is no day off in Chinatown. Lucky me! Jane was free on the first call, and I did not need to wait or book appointments! $22 for a women's cut with cash only! What what?!?! Remember to tip! I usually pay at least double for a haircut, and can I honestly say it's double the quality of what I get from Jane? Nope. Jane took an after pic of my haircut. I only wanted a basic B hair chop with minimal layers at the end and she nailed it. Whoops forgot to take the before pic for comparison. You'll just have to imagine the girl from the Ring, that's me, hair to my waist. Jane and I had a good chat. Her native tongue is Cantonese, and she's giving me tips on how to style my hair. She mentions now with the pandemic, her client base is much more diverse. For health and safety, she is always masked and I put on a transparent disposable salon gown. I was the only person there! Likely, people didn't know she kept the store opened on Civic holiday. The place is very spacious for one person operating the whole shop. Jane explains she operates all three chairs there and switching between chairs for the next client coming in so that the chair doesn't stay warm for the next person.

Once moving back to Canada it was nearly impossible to find a place that does good and reputable Brazilian Blowouts treatments. The day I found Rachelle was the happiest hair day ever! She is very knowledgable and professional in the hair and makeup field. It's great to have her do my hair because she is so wonderful to talk to. She knows her stuff! After she is done with my hair I feel like a totally different person! My frizzy curls have turned smooth and straight and so so so manageable! Not only does your hair feel like silk, it dries so much faster as well. I do it about once every 3 months and love how my hair feels and looks now. Thank you Rachelle for everything!!!! Second time I went back was spring of 2019 to get a trim had a male staff work on me. I felt the cut he did was over-layered and didn't try to ask much want I wanted. Third time was today, winter of 2019 and I loved it. I wanted to change up my style just a bit and decided to get see through bangs. As usual, no appointment and were able to see me with five minutes of settling in. They were fast, efficient and got what I asked for! The only con is that while they do accept debit, they much prefer cash. Attitude changes once they learn you're paying by card.
