Ryan has been my colourist for almost two years, and for a good reason! Ryan is attentive to his clients and always makes sure to spend time to discuss what you're looking for plus make recommendations. From initial consult to execution, his use of colour is true artistry. I always leave the salon smiling and get complimented for weeks after. 10/10 would recommend Evolve. The environment is amazing, everyone is so talented/friendly, and the tunes are great! read more

Cassia was absolutely fantastic. She immediately made me feel comfortable and like I was going to be taken care of. I booked a blowout while traveling for a conference and it was so nice to have a break from the work. She explained pricing to me before the service, which I appreciated. The shampoo was thorough and the scalp massage was so relaxing. I nearly fell asleep during the actual blow dry. My curls did fall a bit, which is expected with my hair, but the sleekness and shine lasted through the next day. I'd definitely recommend Cassia to anyone local or passing through. read more

As others said they try to overcharge. In my case, they made a mistake on the bill, fairly small amount relative to the total bill. While I am on my way home they try to issue a gift certificate refund (I paid with debit so I would have needed to be there for a refund) and then charge me a second time on my credit card. Fortunately, they were not able to (for privacy wake I am not saying why) but the very idea. We make a mistake so you should be forced to buy a gift certificate and then pay the full amount again. If they had charged me twice it would have been over $1000. It is is unfortunate because the stylist really are great. But the people running the business are clearly corrupt. read more

not worth 140 dollar hair cut. I could have gotten a similar cut for 60 elsewhere. You pay a premium price for the skills- in this salon the price did not meet the skills of the hairstylist. read more

I explained how my hair to be cut exactly. I couldn't convince them, so I let myself to the talented hands. The result was not good, it is shorter than I want and no way to fix this besides waiting. I tried to keep being nice and tried to wait to get used to. But I was really frustrated and I hate my hair now. I emailed them how I feel about this. Not even got a sorry to my email. People are nice and very friendly when you go there, I wish they listen to their customers and what they want rather than overcharging and underdelivering. read more

I have been going to Evolve for a few years now and I have never gotten so many compliments about my hair in my life. I was referred by a friend and I'm so happy with how Sonia and Jody have transformed my hair. Sonia is really attentive and has helped me learn that taking care of my hair should be incorporated into my lifestyle and not just something I pick-up and drop as I enter and leave the hair salon. Jody is a colouring goddess and always manages to tone my hair to what I want for the season. I always leave with my hair feeling like it's been nourished and sun-kissed. What I've learned is that sometimes getting your hair to look a certain way will take some time, but if you're vocal and know what you want, Sonia and Jody will listen and help you get there! Patience is key and I'm so happy I get to partner with this fine salon to reach my hair goals. read more

Was in Toronto for a wedding and needed a stylist asap as a maid of honor. I got lucky enough to stumble upon the salon and had Whitney styling my hair for a blow out and curls. My loose beach waves looked fantastic and was probably the best blow out I've had. (Been to many top notched salons in la and sf). Not only did my hair hold up the whole night it wasn't hard to touch. I felt beautiful the whole night which gave me the confidence to give my speech. Not only was she good at what she did she was sweet and genuine and fun to converse with! Thank you Whitney! read more

I have been going to Sonia to get my hair cut for the past couple years. Followed her from her last salon to Evolve where she's now her own boss. Sonia refuses to give you a plain ol' simple everyday cut. She tries to understand your needs and wants before sending you home with the best possible haircut. The work doesn't end with the cut, because she'll make sure you know how to manage your hairstyle after you leave the salon! Love the small intimate feel of Evolve and of course, the two beautiful co-owners! The wine with haircut is ALWAYS a nice touch! read more

I am super impressed by this salon. I have to admit that I went only because I have a 4 week old baby and live in the same block. I am unsure of how the pricing works - I had highlights, root touch up and some ombré colour weaves through a few of the ends. The colour was exactly what I was after and Jody really took time to make it look amazing. They also gave me a super quick trim to tidy up the ends. It came to $210 inc tax plus tip - reasonable considering how happy I am. And all of this was achieved with a baby on my knee! read more

My sister got her hair done here two weeks ago for my wedding this weekend and she just informed me that it cost her over SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS for a wash, colour and style. That is UNHEARD OF. The colour change is barely noticeable and isn't what she was expecting. I am fucking fuming that you took advantage of a student. The pricing that was discussed BEFORE the process was still more than $200 LESS than the final bill. So incredibly unprofessional and rude, I expect someone to make right of this, no one charges $600 for colour. No one goes over pricing and then tacks on an addition $200+ without communicating anything. Fuming. read more

I have always believed that finding the perfect hairdresser is like trying to find your ideal partner, you got to try many out until you find the right one. Having lived in Toronto for 20 months, I consider myself quite lucky to have found a fantastic hairstylist so soon! First impressions mean everything and Evolve makes an excellent first impression. I loved the colour scheme, it is chic, fresh and stylish. The salon is located a few minutes from Fort York and Spadina. I had my hair cut and highlighted by Jody, and I cannot praise the cut and colour enough, I love it! From the minute I entered this salon the service was perfect. Staff are friendly and cheerful. Haircuts are accompanied by a glass of wine, if you desire. It is not the cheapest haircut and colour I have had, but then again I have had some bad haircuts! You get what you pay for. I would rather spend a little more to know I am trusting someone who is well trained, listens to what you ask for and can make their professional recommendations. I will most definitely return! read more

Went later tonight to come with my boyfriend to get his haircut by Sonia. We told her what we wanted and she did it better than we expected! For first time goers to Evolve, we'll be definitely coming back! Complementary drinks, hot towel and wash after hair cuts and the cozy atmosphere make this place for what it is. Prices are reasonable for the area too. read more

I moved to Toronto 9 months ago and have been looking for a good hair salon to get my haircut and colouring. After reading reviews, stalking their IG account, and asking around I decided to try Evolve Hair Studio. Best decision ever! When I was booking my appointment, they were very transparent about what I will pay for the services, including tax. As a person who has been shocked at the checkout multiple times before, this was such a big difference and I liked them from the get go. On the day of my appointment, Joshua, my amazing stylist, went over the services and prices again, explained everything in detail, listened to me carefully - what I want and need before starting. And he did a phenomenal job!!! I am extremely happy with the result! The staff is also super nice and friendly, they do anything to make your time there enjoyable and comfortable. I cannot wait for my next appointment! read more

This salon, the staff!! Always out do themselves every time. Coming during covid times was seamless and felt like a valued customer where health and safety is number 1 from beginning to end. Having 3b/3c hair I don't trust my hair with just anyone but this has been the Best place to get colour and cut for my texture of hair. read more

Not a good experience. First, the color is completely disappointing. I was very surprised by this because I used to see this colorist, Jody, at another salon years ago. We did a different style of highlight this time and it basically looks like a slightly sunkissed version of my natural hair color. The difference between the colors was definitely not what the picture I saw looked like. I hate to write a bad review of someone so nice, but this is my honest opinion. I was totally shocked at what it looked like when it was finished. Getting your hair colored isn't cheap (the cut/color were $250 before tip) and it took over 2 hours from the start of the coloring to the start of the haircut (almost 3 hours when you add the cut time), so I certainly hoped for a more noticeable difference and something I liked. I am especially disappointed because I have a number of events coming up and I really wanted something that I was happy with. I also felt like she knew I wasn't happy and brushed it under the rug, which added insult to injury, Now, on to the girl who washed my hair, then put in tonor, then a gloss. She basically said 10 words to me in the entire 30 minutes I spent with her. And she didn't offer a magazine, so I was just sitting there bored. She also left me sitting at the sink to let the tonor set for 15 minutes so I was literally just sitting there bored out of my mind (again, no magazines) and terribly uncomfortable (because you have to pick between having your head on the hard sink for then15 minuets or sort of being slouched forward because it is a chair that reclines towards the sink). The cut by Sonia turned out decent, but it is definitely shorter than what I showed her. I also much prefer when they get more of your input into your cut (i.e. short layers, long lawyers, etc). There was none of that--she just did her thing. I also felt pushed or bullied into having it blowdried, which I really didn't want, but I am not good at standing up to people. And then, she said "see, that wasn't so bad". She probably meant it as a joke, but it was kind of patronizing. read more

Ridiculously overpriced if youre a dude who wants a regular cut (its one of these places that offers "spa like treatment" before and after every haircut). Its located in a small townhouse-esque shop (that I had trouble finding first time) and the salon itself is very small, def not meant for huge crowds. The staff is entirely female and I believe one of them mentioned to me once they all live together on the floor upstairs. You can tell the room is a regular den+kitchen that they turned into a salon. Only the person who greeted me smiled, rest of staff was grumpy and avoided eye contact that day for some reason! Its def marketed towards YUPPIES and executives. Me thinks if youre a young dude lookin for something quick then best avoid this place and check out another. read more

Paid a rediculous amount of money for highlights that are hardly visable. Stylist and owner didn't care about my disappointed.

This place is located in the heart of Cityplace in one of the townhouses west of Bremnar - close to the Sobey's. It's a small local business which I really appreciate and like to support. It's small and quaint and the women who run the place are nice\pleasant. I called and they took me in last minute for a cut and blow-dry - which was great. The reason for the 3 stars is that I found it pricey and the blow-out was horrible. I have curly hair and I walked out feeling like a poodle - it was frizzy. I don't like being confrontational, so I just left because with my hair, there isn't anything you can do unless you start over and I didn't have the time. read more

These ladies run a smooth operation from start to finish. Hair stylists are all highly skilled, courteous professionals. They offer you a beverage when you come in. The premises are clean and well designed. A hot towel treatment and facial massage is standard after your shampoo. They have an app, web-based reservation booking, phone and email confirmation and reminder service. A great cut, with decadent perks for a reasonable price. read more

5 star treatment with affordable costs. Meg is the absolute best. She has given me so much advice to improve my hair and recommendations for other things. I am 52 and have long hair, which makes me very cautious of who I let colour my hair. I always recommend her to everyone I know and finally decided to do a yelp review. All the staff seem great, but Meg is a sure thing. Also, a head massage to die for! read more

Very rude and unprofessional staff. The results and experience aren't worth the price. Don't risk it. Find a better salon.

Desperate for a fringe trim, I called Evolve to see if they would be willing to accommodate me despite that I had never visited the salon before. They were able to fit me in that day, and I had a great experience. Sonya (the owner) cut my fringe, and she very welcoming despite that I was far from being a "big spender". In fact, all of the employees I encountered during my short visit to Evolve were great. The vibe of the place is great, and I saw some great "work in progress" while waiting for my service. I will definitely consider going back for a cut, and have recommended the place to my husband as well. read more

It's an uncomfortable experience that you get overcharged for. Too pricy for a simple male cut. The staff behaves rude and unprofessional.

Went here a while ago. They couldn't handle my hair. Never left a salon looking that bad, and it wasn't cheap, can't remember exactly how much but I think it was 70+ for a wash and cut. I left with my hair damp and in a bun, because it was a frizzy mess. They book back to back appointments and only left an hour in between me and the next client. Won't be back. read more

After sifting through the options in Downtown Toronto I decided to take the plunge at Evolve because of some of the work I'd seen on their Instagram page. I highly recommend you start with a consultation. This way, you're managing your own expectations as it relates to what's possible given your current hair situation and you're giving the stylist a chance to assess what they're working on. The consultation cost $25 but the value is put towards your service. I had my color done with Nicole and am over the moon with how it turned out. I went into it with a ton of regrowth and patchiness due to a previous stylist so I didn't have high hopes for how much we could accomplish in one sitting. She blew it out of the water though!!! Totally corrected my color woes and left my damaged hair feeling soft and manageable. The studio itself is great, too. Cozy, complimentary drinks, and a great vibe. It's a bit pricey but I think that's to be expected given the location. Will definitely visit again! read more

I came in after box-dyeing my hair auburn/dark brown for a full year (I'm naturally quite a light blonde) and asked Whitney, the stylist if it would be possible to get back to my natural colour/ light blonde after box-dyeing for so long. After a few sessions, my hair has transformed into a healthy, beautiful, light blonde. Whitney made my hair look incredibly natural during the entire process, and she was careful to ensure that my hair looked and felt as good as possible during the transformation. I would recommend Evolve (Especially Whitney) if you're looking for an amazing natural colour that is suited to your particular skin tone and hair composition. All in all a wonderful experience! read more

I've spent the past few years sort of going from one stylist to another in hopes of finding the stylist that would understand what I want and ensure I'm happy with my hair. Kristen is the stylist that managed to do that. From what I understood she is an apprentice at the salon but she truly does her very best to ensure any of her clients walk away happy. I came in for a haircut (was super easy to book over the phone and I had no issues), and Kristen spent about 15mins discussing my hair with me, my goal cut, how to maintain my hair as well as some recommendations for my cut and how to style it. She was a very good listener and made sure to walk me through my cut and what would be done prior to actually cutting my hair. She listened to all my requests and ensured to follow through with them throughout the cut. Kristen took her time and truly ensured I walk out with the perfect cut and the hair I love!!! She's super detail oriented and made my hair super manageable and easy to style! I love everything about my cut and I'm extremely happy with my experience with Kristen and I can't wait to return to her chair read more
