Faye was professional and friendly. We both got great cuts, and the price is very reasonable for an upscale hair place. We will definitely be back! read more

As a Chinese male, my hair is thick and really different from most people's hair so I'm very skeptical with salons. Mayé was the amazing lady that helped me cut my hair. She was experience with Asian hair and talked me through the process so I wasn't worried about miscommunication. Originally, my old haircut was long and too heavy on the wrong side which my Chinese barber never realized. I chose hair code because of the amazing reviews I saw on Yelp. As much as the price is 3x what I usually pay, it was well worth it for the professional advice and service. (Something that usually lacks in Chinese hair salons) If you're looking for a new look, Mayé has helped me find a fresh clean look. Whether I choose to go back is solely on my budget but it's well worth my money on the first time! read more

My first couple visits were really awesome but the last two times I've visited I've spent the next few months hating my hair and keeping it up. The first time I asked for a trim and went from long hair that went to my butt to hair right below my boob. As someone that puts a lot of time and energy into growing it out, it is really frustrating to have a hairdresser that does their own thing instead of what you are asking for. Not to mention the cut just looks messy, it looks like I need to go to the hairdresser not that I just went and paid 150. Wouldn't go back, wouldn't recommend. read more

I've been to Hair Code several times now. I'm probably a bit of a regular. The place has a good vibe, is clean and modern, and has been in the neighbourhood for a few years. I'd had haircuts by both of the brothers - they both do a great job. They have good suggestions for your haircut, and helped me transition to a new look after my old haircut of many years was getting outdated. It's a little pricey for a man's haircut, but definitely worth it read more

Paid $90 for a french braid that fell out by the time I got home - and I live 2 minutes from the salon. Pretty disappointed. This review actually started as a 1-star but the manager messaged me with a very kind response and offered for me to come back in for a complimentary service. I give credit to business owners who welcome feedback and try to improve client satisfaction :) read more

Stavros opened this hair salon in May 2010 with clean modern décor and friendly service. One of the few salons in Toronto that opens on a Monday, I ventured in as a walk-in and walked out with a haircut garnering compliments. Mid-price range, 30$ for men's cut, but was worth it. read more

I was long over due for a haircut as it has already been a year since my last one. Usually I'd go to the cheap Asian salons in Chinatown for a quick cut but I was never happy when I walk out. So I decided to spend that extra money for a proper haircut and I definitely did not regret it! The interior of it is very modern, simple and clean. Everyone was really nice especially the stylist I got who was Heather:) She listens to what you want as well as adding their touch to it and also kept it socially engaging at all times. At first I was a bit nervous cutting off so much hair but she did an excellent job! Definitely going back again! :) read more

I've been a regular here for about a year and I have to say the place is great and more importantly, they are always on time which is important to me. The price is reasonable and the place has good energy. It does require some patience. When you call, they hardly ever answer and it can take them to the next day before they return your call. They should allow online bookings. Still a lot of good here, give it a try. read more

Well after traveling all the way from Liberty Village, must I say it was worth the trip. I got an appointment super fast and the guy was very professional. Good value! read more

Amazing little salon. Super friendly. They were totally booked but will took the time to talk with me and find out what I was looking for. Offered me drinks as well and was able to fit me in between clients. Super helpful and amazing talent. Thanks Heather!!!! read more

I've been looking for a new place to get a hair cut for a long time. I went for a simple trim and got the Wash + Cut option which I love. It's only 44$ and great when you don't want to spend upwards of 100$ when you aren't going anywhere afterwards (and no, you don't leave with wet hair, they blow dry it for you, just no style). I had Heather. She was very friendly and chatty and all-around nice! My cut was great too. I would definitely try this place again as well as the other stylists. I hope this will be my new go to for a good hair cut. read more

So this place moved into the hood quite a while back, right next door to George the barber who's been there for like 50 years. I don't know why, but that struck me as kinda disrespectful, so I held a silly grudge against the place for years. Anyhoo I figured it's time to let bygones be bygones and check it out. Besides, for all I know George is totally cool with his neighbours and I'm just being ridiculously petty. I was greeted, offered coffee, and told my stylist would be along soon and to take a seat. I didn't really feel particularly warmly welcomed, but that changed when my stylist Anastasia showed. She was personable and very attentive. Most importantly, she was completely respectful of what I hoped to get out of this cut, and unlike other stylists I've had, she stuck to my requests. I would totally go back to see her, and to see Hercules, the salon mascot - a tiny chihuahua. In terms of price, my total came to around $64 tip included for a wash and cut, but no styling. For the time and care she took, I think that is reasonable, and I am looking forward to seeing how the cut grows in. read more

I give this place 5 stars for it's price/quality , location, service, atmosphere have never disappointed me. I've been a client of Stavro for the past 10 years and have always gotten great haircuts and top treatment. Somehow, he always manages to make the haircuts I imagine look a lot better than my imagination. And for those times that I have no idea what I want I've trusted Stavro's advice and have never been disappointed. The price is reasonable and the team has always been great in accomodating to book appointments at my convenience. The location is accessible by streetcar and there's also free parking in the area which is always great. read more

I am new to the city so i was nervous about getting my hair done at a new place. I went to the same hair salon in Montreal for over 10 years. The staff at hair code was great and easy going, The lady that did my hair did an exceptional job, I forgot to ask her name, but I will next time. I got several compliments on my hair at my new job. The only negative to me is that it is a bit hard for me to get to, but worth the effort - for sure! Went there again and always great service! read more

Scheduled a last-minute appointment here with Faye while visiting friends for New Years. Faye spoke my language and knew exactly the cut I was going for. Excellent service, friendly atmosphere, and a great price for a men's cut in Toronto. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town! read more

I've been here once to get a very, very, very important haircut - went from really long to really short hair and Stavros did a great job. I first came for a consultation and in just a few minutes he advised me as to what would work and what wouldn't. He gave me a great haircut, and it didn't take too long and basically you can tell that he knows what he's doing. I think he's been cutting hair for something like 10 years so he's seen it all. The place itself is clean and fresh and relaxing and I was made to feel at ease about my huge hair changing decision. Overall, I'm really happy with the experience and I will be coming back to upkeep the short do. read more

Be careful which stylist you book with - I booked here because of the great reviews. It is friendly but the service not professional and end result was amateur. read more

really very bad treatment. I have never been treated this bad. I went with my younger brother to have his hair cut, i struggled to find the place location and came from a very far distance. when i arrived the receptionist treated us so badly telling us no space.a although the place was empty, i came early, and when i asked her what if we waited, she said "No, you should have an appointment" then she kicked us out. i hope the owner of the place pays attention to whom he/ she should hire. Moreover, if appointments should be made, they should write so, not write no appointments needed read more

I had my x-mass party and needed to get my hair styled quickly. I booked an appointment with Heather and she did an amazing job. The small team at Hair Code is very welcoming and warm (I like to cozy-ness of the Salon). Heather new exactly what I wanted and did it so fast! It was beautiful and stayed ALL night...even the next day my hair looked great. She's awesome, would totally recommend Hair Code and Heather. read more

The best hair dresser place! It's all about attention to detail. Pavlo is the best and they will fix your $20 haircuts on top of that if you dare go to the neighbour. read more

Stavros is an amazing artist. I've worked for Aveda for 15 years, taught customer service & hair and he exemplifies the best of the best. Not only is my haircut always perfect he has exemplary customer service skills; I get served Cappuccino every time I'm there to my exact state and takes my coat off every time I visit. All for a reasonable price. read more

I walked into Hair Code after becoming desperate for a proper cut after my Yorkville stylist of 10+ years went on maternity leave. Faye does a great job each and every time. The one time I wasn't a fan of how she did my "sideburns", I mentioned it the next time I was in - she was glad I told her and encouraged me to mention anything I wasn't happy with. In fact, I think each cut gets better. The team is ALWAYS accommodating (recognizing that my short hair takes less time because of little to no styling) AND I tend to make last minute appointments. I've only had excellent experiences at Hair Code and have adopted them as my new stylists (I'm still in touch with my old stylist and couldn't not tell her that I cheated on her!) read more

Stavaros is my favorite and thats not all i can say. Great, friendly staff, they listen to you what you need rather than giving you a forced opinion very unlike the other "most popular" barbershops in the city. I went in looking like Zach Galifianakis and walked out looking like Bradley Cooper (the east indian version) Services i went for included a beard design/trim and haircut and style. Will go there again and definitely recommend this one. Go here if you need a more personalised service, you will not be disappointed. read more

I went to haircode for the first time this Saturday. I have been seeing the same hairdresser at another salon for years but found he was very lazy on my last few cuts so I needed a change. I also wanted to colour my hair with an Ombre but was a bit nervous after not colouring my hair for almost a decade. I saw Heather and she was AMAZING. She is nice, friendly and clearly knows what she is doing. Heather makes you feel comfortable right away especially because you can tell she is amazing at what she does. I found out about the salon because I really liked someones colour at a restaurant and when I stopped them to ask them where they got it done they told me haircode with Heather. I already have friends who have booked appointments to go. This will for sure be my new regular hair salon. My only negative comment is that the salon itself needs a good facelift. The walls are in desperate need of painting and the chairs in reception and very worn. Everyone leaving has amazing hair though which is what matters read more

I recently visited this salon to get bayalage done. After visiting a previous stylist a month ago who left me with a brassy blonde hair color, I was desperate to fix it and finally get the blonde that I wanted. The stylist I had was really nice and I explained to her in detail my situation and showed her a few pictures of the color I wanted. She agreed that my hair needed some work to be fixed and we agreed on a dark blonde (which looked like a medium/light brown) mixed in with blonde highlights in order to give my hair that bayalage look. She mentioned it would be expensive and how much it would be since I agreed to do what it took to get my hair the way I wanted it to be. A few hours later, I was heartbroken to see my hair just looked darker. I can barely see any blonde unless I go under direct light I can see some light pieces. The brown looks like a dark brown. Just looks like I got highlights not bayalage. At the end my issue was that I wish I was told before I agreed to do my hair and pay 350 dollars, that we would not be able to do the bayalage and it would simply be a color correction and we would be darkening my hair. I was told after my hair was done that what I wanted could take sometimes 2-4 appointments. I cannot afford to spend another 350 on hair. Just wish I would have known this before I agreed so I could have just gone somewhere else. I did explain to the dresser that I was not happy with the outcome and that it was so dark and I could not see the blonde but she just explained that we were correcting what was done before so we went darker. This should have been communicated at the beginning of my appointment. Was not aware I would have to come back for numerous appointments considering my hair was light to begin with. The two Stars are just because she took the brass away from my previous hair disaster. I don't think the result I got was worth such an expensive price. I could have just dyed my hair a medium brown at home and saved myself the 350 dollars. Very disappointed. read more

I ended up getting a horrible cut, though I have to say that the space was nice, as was the stylist, which is why I gave 2 stars. Still, I found that I had a very poorly done haircut (I ran into my old stylist at a bar a few days later and she even commented on the slopiness of the cut!), and it wasn't at all what I had asked for. Not sure if the stylist was lacking in education or whether it was just a rushed job, or maybe they were just having an off day. Still, when it's on your head and you have to live with it for the next few months, it's more than annoying that you didn't get what you paid for. Overall, disappointing experience. read more

A girl named "Anna" cut my hair. She was unprofessional (she seemed hung over) and made me feel very uncomfortable. I got home and cried when I looked at my awful haircut. Perhaps the other stylists are worth your time (I have no idea, I went to her once and will never go back) but definitely avoid Anna at all costs! Sorry to be brutally honest, I just don't want anyone else to get screwed the way I did. Just awful. read more

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at hair code for 3 reasons: (1) when I arrived, I had to wait at least 25 mins before I was seen; (2) the hairdresser I saw screwed up my hair completely; and (3) because it took so long to do my hair, they did not even have time to properly blow dry it, let alone style it. On the first point, I understand things happen and you can run behind schedule, but if I was seen later, then other customers after me should wait just as long as I waited. That did not happen. My hairdresser went to serve someone else when that person arrived and left me in the hands of an assistant. On the second point, my hair is not three different awful colours. The hairdresser did not listen to what I was requesting at all, and was being very confrontational. I've had my hair coloured many times and I know what works and what doesn't. She went on to do her own thing and now my roots are extremely light and the rest of my hair is dark ashy blonde (which is exactly what I told her to avoid). And third, they told me that they close at 5pm and they won't have time to style my hair (even though that is what I requested when I booked the appointment). So when the time came, they just did a very rough blow dry and sent me on my way. Mind you, by that time I was about to leave anyway because it was just getting ridiculous. But I have never had an experience where a salon essentially kicks you out and sends you on your way with wet hair. Thank god it wasn't too cold of a day, otherwise I would've caught a cold. Who closes at 5pm on a Saturday anyway? Salons do the majority of their business on Saturday and should stay open to accommodate all the people who want to get their hair done before going out. This was very strange to me. All in all - I would not recommend this place. The hairdressers are inexperienced, confrontational and do not care about your satisfaction. I will have to get my hair re-done somewhere else. read more
