I visited this salon thanks to a Livingsocial coupon. These group buy deals are sometimes anything but, so I try to be a little picky about what I buy. My hair is long and straight, so if I'm just getting a trim, I can take a risk with a salon - it's hard to mess up a trim TOO badly. The salon is in the new market area of Liberty Village. Nice, convenient location. It's what you'd expect from a new salon--trendy, minimalist loft-style design. I figured with my coupon ($35 for cut and Aveda treatment) I'd be getting some junior stylist. I waited for maybe five minutes after checking in (and was offered a tea) and then was greeted by Antonio. He washed my hair, did the treatment and then sat me down to talk about the cut. He was personable but got right down to business, which personally, I like. **Begin section of excessive detail on why this was such a good experience for me** I asked only for a trim and he gave me just that. He was conservative with the scissors, a harder thing to find in a stylist than you'd think . When it came time to trim my bangs, he noticed immediately that they were cut too far toward my temples and not thick enough. This seems like a simple thing, but I've been going to different salons for YEARS trying to get the bangs I want. Ones that don't get stringy an hour after I wash them. None of those stylist would ever cut far enough back, and instead still left me with stringy bangs or kept cutting more toward the side of my head. Eventually, I gave up and figured this was just how my bangs were (while secretly wondering why I saw so many girls with hair like mine--fine and flat--that had nice full bangs, which started farther back on their head). Anthony picked up on this seemingly small detail right away and then gave me a very quick, thorough, but simple cut, which I'd been trying to get for years. I was very happy and impressed that he *got it* when no one else had before. After I left, I went online to their website and discovered that he was the owner of the salon, and had years of experience doing hair... on some very famous heads, too. His regular rate is a steep $83... but for someone like me who gets their hair cut infrequently, I'd say he's worth it. My hair has grown out nicely and I haven't felt the need to get it touched up yet (and it's been months since I got it cut). Salon's service is awesome. They greet you with a smile, take you coat, offer a beverage. Like every good salon, they listen and then suggest. Not wanting to drive up to my regular hair salon (and glad I didn't because the weather was horrible), I decided to find a salon in Liberty Village. I chose to book an appointment with a junior stylist because I just needed a trim. I called in the morning and was able to get an early afternoon appointment the same day. When I arrived for my appointment I was greeted by the receptionist. She took my coat and the stylist, Cindy, gave me a smock to wear. She offered me a beverage and asked me what I wanted done to my hair. I told her that I was growing my hair out to donate, so just needed a trim. Then over to the sink to wash my hair and a scalp and neck massage. Before Cindy cut my hair, she showed me how much she was planning on cutting off. I was pleasantly surprised by how nice it turned out. I thought it was going to be the same boring hair cut, but it actually looks kind of different. After years and years of searching I FINALLY found a fantastic hairdresser! I decided to get my hair cut at Salon Tocci on the referral of my sister as well as some aggressive google searches I conducted for hair salons near my residence. My first wash, cut, and style job I booked with the stylist/artist Marie-Eve and she did a superb job! She listened to what I wanted to do with my hair and executed on the style and shape that I had asked for. It was a perfect result. Having long and thick hair can be a pain sometimes but Marie-Eve did a great job in adding layers and thinning out my hair so it wouldn't feel so heavy. Instead, my hair felt light and bouncy while still maintaing the volume that I love. My second time at Salon Tocci was for partial highlights and also a wash, cut, & style job - also done by Marie-Eve. Again, Marie-Eve took the time to listen to what I wanted and she absolutely delivered! I told her the colour of highlights I wanted and the colour she mixed was perfect. The result was great! The colour complemented my natural hair colour very well. My hair cut was also very flattering to my face and she was able to keep the length that I wanted as well as add some shape to my hair. Overall, a great find and a wonderful salon. I did not have to wait long for Marie-Eve to see me and everyone that works there is very friendly, professional, and helpful. The prices are in the same range as other well known and reputable hair salons in the downtown Toronto area. After moving here from Vancouver, I was faced with the challenge of trying to find a new Stylist. Lucky for me, I found an amazing Colorist pretty quickly. Cutting on the other hand has been an on going challenge. I have long fine hair, but a lot of it. So to achieve body it takes excellent technical cutting skills. The first time I made the mistake of taking someone a little more junior.. (she is no longer there) it was a disaster. She layered my hair in a way that made me look like i had none. After it grew out, i decided to go with the Owner, Antonio. The first time he cut my hair it was AMAZING. (it better be for $100). I asked him to do the same thing.. approx 3 months later. And.. he didn't. It was an average cut, and one side was slightly longer. And to be honest, if he didn't charge so much I probably would have gone back cause it wasn't awful just not amazing. But when a stylist is charging premium pricing, I better get a premium cut- every single time. read more

Ok I had my hair colored and dyed by Lindsey and although I am happy with the cut, I am very unhappy with the color. I asked for an ombre and ended up with coppery streaks. someone even said "it looks like you did it yourself" eeeek. On the day that my hair was dyed, I was told to wait 2-3 weeks for the color to "settle" into what I want and that it was going to gradually lighten. Well, that never happened. another thing that irked me a little was that I was quoted a 100 dollars for the dye job but ended up paying 155 dollars. During the payment I noticed that a charge for 45 dollars showed up (probably for the toner). I didn't fuss about it and understood that she may have forgot to tell me. I have an appointment to go in for a correction today and I was told that I would have to pay for the product- which as a consumer I find very annoying. I have take an extended lunch break AND pay extra for something I already paid above and beyond the original quoted price for? Another thing that I'm nervous about was when I booked for the correction job, I kind of got an unwelcoming vibe from Lindsey. And you don't want someone unfriendly working on your hair. My friend also had a similar experience with Lindsey too. She asked for an ombre and had to go back twice more (3 visits in total) and still didn't get what she wanted. Although in her case, she was not asked to pay more for the correction job. We'll see how it goes today but I'm very weary and peeved that I have to pay to get this fixed as most salons would apologize and do it on the house. Update: I just came from the correction and although an improvement, it's still not even close to what I asked for. I was also presented with a 50 dollar charge as I was leaving (before the coloring, I asked what the charge was going to be and was told that there wouldnt be a charge and when I brought that up, i was told "oh i meant that i wouldnt charge for my time but you still have to pay for the product). I felt that I should not have to pay that much (with another 50 dollar charge the total cost of the color that turned out to be nothing like what I asked for was going to be 200 dollars) after a bit of a back and forth where I was told that I should have come in earlier than 2-3 weeks later (I was told to wait 2-3 weeks for the color to "settle") they finally said fine no charge. I still left a 40 dollar tip (because the assistant was great and also I wanted to make a point that this isn't really about the money but more about principle) and will not be going back since a mediocre color job is one thing but a bad customer service and not being up front about salon fees is such a big turn off to as a consumer. read more

I had just recently visited this salon for partial colour after being referred to by a friend. I am pretty disappointed because although there's nothing bad I can say about the place or way my hair turned out, the price was very unreasonable. I was told I was going to get gloss and a treatment only to later be given a bill that included $40 in extra charges for treatments. If I had known it was extra, I wouldn't have agreed to the additional services. Needless to say I really enjoyed my stylist and gave her a pretty good tip but it's too bad because I won't be returning. read more

I have always been wary of hairdressers... most of them do not listen or pretend that they do and then they do whatever they think is best (which is seldom the case). So for years I was changing hair salon after a hair salon i.e. disappointment after a disappointment. Then I started doing Bikram yoga and saw an amazing cut on one of my teachers. She was a walking advertizement for the artist behind it - Sean. He had taken into consideration her features, her age, her personality and desires (something funky, stylish, modern and manageable) and had turned it into what will always be for me the "Barb" cut (my teacher's name is Barbara, or Barb for short). Sometimes such creations are hit and miss. The hairdressers/artist may have had a one hit wonder. So, bearing that in mind I checked Salon Tocci's prices. They were a bit pricey for me, but luckily for me I came across a Groupon type of deal (think it was Living Social) around the same time. I purchased a voucher and booked my appointment with Sean. I went in with a limp bob and came out with a freshly restructured swanky do. He listened to what I wanted, suggested and then did what he said he will do. I was so pleased with the result that I purchased another voucher as soon as I got home (luckily it was buy maximum 2 for personal use). It has been over two years now and I have not let anyone but Sean touch my hair. I have also changed the way I think about the pricing of a hair cut. I rather pay the extra few dollars and have a true artist give me a new "head" rather than save a few bucks and come out of the salon disappointed and regretful. The salon is clean, cute, everyone is friendly and I am always made to feel special when I go. There has been no misunderstandings in the last two years neither regarding what is expected of Sean, nor regarding pricing. He has suggested hair products which I am using to date. I tried other products and immediately noticed the difference. The cut and hair products that Sean suggested are perfect for my hair type, for my face, age and profession and I constantly receive compliments on my healthy, stylish cut. I have really curly hair and have been growing it out for 4 years. It started with a colour that to high volume peroxide was used and my hair broke off. I kept my hair short till it all grew out then with a few bad hair cuts (by various hair stylists) decided to suck it up and just let it grow out for a year. I was recommended to Sean at Salon Tocci by 2 different people. I saw Sean in the spring and he just trimmed it and put a bit of shape in it. He said to let it keep growing and come back in 3-4 months. (I waited 5 months - as curly hair grows slowly). When I booked the appointment they had no record of me ever being there. I sat in Sean's chair and discussed my hair and what I was looking for (he had no memory of me ... i had only been there once so I do understand). This time he cut my hair wet (a no no with unevenly curly hair) then proceeded to cut the top short and tried to put shape in it (I could tell he was sweating and it wasn't going well) but it was to late and I hoped he had some great styling secret and that it would work out. It is an extremely bad version of a mullet. Even the expression on the girl's face at the reception was bad. With tax it was just shy of $100.00 ... I have no problem with the price if it was a good cut, I would even pay up to $150 for a good cut. This is embarrassing though and now its going to take 5-6 months to be able to get some form of shape put in and another 5-6 months to get it back to where it would have been if he did a proper cut. I can get it in a high really really small ponytail and this is how it will have to be till it grows out (a straight hair persons growth of 3" is a curly hair persons 1"). It is just so embarrassingly bad ... I would not recommend this salon or Sean. read more

They dyed a small fraction of my hair, and when I let them know that I was expecting a fuller look (not their scattered, choppy highlights), they said for a fuller ombre, I'd need to make 2 separate appointments. Thanks to a bad cut at a different salon, I am now a very happy patron of Salon Tocci and look forward to a very, very long hair relationship with my stylist, Erika! After I got a botched hair job elsewhere, I went to work the next day desperate for a new stylist. A colleague recommended Salon Tocci. I loved that each stylist had a blurb on the website detailing their areas of expertise. Because of the severity of the bad cut that led me to this circumstance, I was ready to lose some significant length to look normal again. Erika specialized in stylish short cuts, so I quickly booked an appt for my lunch that day (thankfully there was a space available!). It's hard to find that one *right* stylist for you, and when you do find them, you don't want to let them go! I walked in to my appointment and showed Erika a picture of a very funky, asymmetrical haircut I wanted to try. She was happy to oblige, and offered suggestions on how to shape it best to my head. Well, long story short - I was SO HAPPY with the result, and am SO CONFIDENT in her skills that she has ruined me for life - I will never go to a different hairstylist again!!!! She is SO GOOD! I have 100% complete trust in her skills and know that she will never let me walk away unhappy. She listened to what I wanted, and used her sense of aesthetics to balance the cut for my face/head. I have been going for over a year now. This original accidental desperate haircut has turned hair appointments into something exciting and fun. Ok, this happened 2 months ago but I'm still really confused about it. I was super pumped to get a blow out and come out with amazing hair. I arrived, got a great shampoo and let the stylist know that I think I would just like the curl that the round brushes give, since I could never give myself this at home. This person said to me that if I would like, I could pay $10.00 more and get it styled as well with the wand. I said... hmm ok I'd think about it! Then came the confusing part. The stylist and another person "rough dried" my hair without any brushes and I was thinking, OK ya, makes sense, dry it out a little before bringing in the round brushes. But then it was just dry... just like I would do at home... I really had no other choice but to agree to the styling and paying an extra $10.00. If I didn't, I think I would have just left with flat blow dried hair? So I paid $50.00 + tip for a regular blow dry and curling which I do myself every weekend... First, I want to say that Sean Godard, a stylist at Salon Tocci, is amazing. My hair never looked better than when I was going to him. He not only cuts hair amazingly well but he knows what suits you. I actually found him because I noticed a woman with beautiful hair and she said that Sean cut her hair. Having said that, I stopped going to Salon Tocci because I wasn't happy with their pricing. I seemed to be charged a different price for the same services every time I went and it was never less that $200. One time I thought my hair came out too dark so they agreed to put in two or three highlights at the front and then charged me another $60. Only later did I find out that the woman who sits at the reception desk and figures out the total costs is a co-owner and it made me question how fair their pricing practices are. So I agree with a previous reviewer about their pricing and it's what stopped me from going there. I keep waiting for Sean to open his own salon...I'd be a customer for life! read more

I came into this salon with high hopes but wound up getting treated like dirt. My male friend told me it was great service for but for a high price I thought it was going to be okay and help me save my overprocessed hair. I was okay for paying a bit more to help my hair since my last hair dresser damaged it. I don't flat iron my hair or much other than dry it but it needed help. This is when I met Lindsey. At first she seemed nice but as time went on she gave more and more attitude as if she was the only hair dresser left in Toronto. She lied to me about the processing time and who would be doing my hair as it wasn't her but mostly her assistant. . I was told by the woman at the front desk that the appointment would be an hour, then an hour and a half went by and everytime I asked Lindsey or her assistant how long it would be they would say half an hour more well between them add the total time up to 4 hours in the icy over airconditioned salon in the winter time with wet hair dripping down my back. When I would ask about the time I would be out of there because I had an MRI appointment that was scheduled months in advance. Lindsey yelled at me telling me that I was lying about the time they told me at the desk.What was in it for me to lie about how long a process is going to take?..Nothing especially when I had a serious appointment afterwards but I didn't calculate for that much time, who does? That's a long time. Her rudeness, really shook me up and I couldn't do anything as I was sitting there with product in my hair. I allowed for extra time but this was too much, a snappy, loud accusation rather than asking me if they could rinse the product out of my hair, dry it and help me be on my way. She instead turned on me in the salon as if I was some kind of horrible person because I had no idea how long the appointment was going to take. I wound up leaving with damp hair, 4 hours later with little time to make it to my MRI over paying and tipping this horrible monster of a woman just out of sheer confusion. My hair wasn't that much better than before but it was a bit better after hours of deep conditioning. The solution was OLAPLEX and you can get that anywhere now ladies, and not this horrible place. Now, I'm a brunette and much happier as I won't have to deal with such horrible people like Lindsey who think they are gods to hair. It's just Olaplex, not her. Don't pay anyone to treat you horrible or lie to you in life, just go elsewhere because this city has a lot of great placs with talented and nice people at decent prices. She was the most rude hair dresser I have ever met. She needs to calm down her meanness and overall attitude. read more

I had reserved a hair coloring session for my mother. As she had been released from hospital after 3 months I wanted to do something special for her. When I arrived as a walk in Lindsey (blonde haired girl) mentioned nothing was available. She did not make an attempt to book us for another day. I called back later on being hesitant to book due to her lack of interest to assist us while entering the salon but nether less decided to book as I myself once had good service previously. My mum arrived along with my sister the next day with a confirmed booking for 11 am. My mother arrived at 11:10 am as she hadn't gotten her strength to walk too fast as of yet having recently been released. When they arrived Lindsey said it was "too late and there was nothing she could do for them". My sister was appalled. Having reiterated to Lindsey at the front desk that my mum had found the walk a bit too long from the condo and due to the cold weather and shivering when entering the salon none of this mattered to Lindsey. She was cold uncooperative and dismissive. She didn't even make an attempt to rebook them for another date. She clearly had no empathy and no idea of customer service. Having referred my sister to this salon I ft embarrassed ashamed and of course outraged how my was dismissed in such a fragile state. Not even a tea or coffee was offered for them. Lindsey could have rebooked them or given them options. She did nothing but just "nothing I can do". Extremely disappointed in the arrival and booking service both over the phone and in person with Lindsey. read more
