I've been having my hair highlighted by Stephen about 4 times now. First time it was way too much second time it was ok but he always has to touch it up, next time was average and last time was a complete botch job. Wierd green gold colour with horizontal bands running throughout my hair. I've read other reviews complaining about the same thing from a woman named Lisa. This guy although he has been there a long time colours like he rents a chair in a strip plaza hair salon in Scarborough. If your blonde avoid him. Now I have to grow my hair out. Nightmare. read more

Daniel is the best hair stylist I've ever had as a male. Hes super kind and friendly, lovely to talk to, but most of all amazing at knowing how the hair will grow out in 6months when I want a longer look. read more

Had my hair cut and colored here on a recommendation of a Toronto friend ... feel this place is past its hey day color was ok , not great and started to fade within 10 days , evidently they do not use high quality products cut was basically a trim so not much to judge on as all salons in Yorkville are pricey I wasn't surprised at the cost .... but felt they should use better products for the price read more

My old hair salon closed during the pandemic and as all the ladies out there know, trusting someone new with your hair is incredibly stress inducing. But I couldn't be happier with Emily on my highlights and Philippe on the cut. They're both so kind and talented, the salon is lovely and prices are right. read more

I want to say a Huge Thank you to all team at Fiorio Cumberland. Especially Marc and Daniel. Thank you, Maurice, for making this place so warm and comfortable. Service is super great, front desk awesome. Thank you. Tanya S. read more

Stylists can chose the price based on their mood. No one seems to know the real price of a blow dry. Their base price online is not the "real price". Management and staff can't seem to give answers on random charge increases. Use to go to fiorio for years, this location has left a bad taste read more

I have been attending Fiorio for about 15 years and my stylists are fabulous! I alternate between Chrisy and Alison who are stellar at what they do. Sadly mum doesn't come with me anymore but I have our great memories there to stay alive since her passing. My only concern for this salon is the deplorable attitude of their receptionist who has no tact or hosting skills. I have told Mr. Fiorio that keeping her will hurt his business and potential future sales. Keeping my fingers crossed. read more

My experience: made a last minute blow out appt on Friday afternoon. Was told when I booked that it is $65. I thought it was steep but it's Yorkville. She's a senior stylist. Arrived for appt on time. Was brought to chair, asked what I wanted. Told her basic blow out w round brush. Said ok. Brought me to the hair washing area and told me to sit. I asked if I could have a smock. She seemed surprised that I would ask for one. This is the first time in my life I haven't been given a smock as soon as I came to an apt in any salon. One wash I usually get two (I have a lot of hair)not much hair massage. Water v hot. Needed to tell her twice. Very disappointing. Brought back to the chair. She began drying my hair. I asked if I could have a cup of tea, again this is usually offered at salons. Didn't like the huge volume. Asked for a more defined part. Just wasn't feeling that great feeling you have when you get your hair done. Left feeling meh. What would you tip? read more

Called it a "miscommunication" when a senior stylist overbleached my hair, greatly damaging it; They said they use Olaplex, but they lied and used something else, and the second time I went the wash girl didn't even know how to use Olaplex, had to be instructed. Stylist then gave me a sample of Kerastase hyaluronic acid, which is precisely the worst treatment you could give someone who just bleached their hair (it BREAKS hair bonds to make it "softer"). Kerry does not have your hair health in mind, only her monetary interests. I still tipped her very generously - 25%. Shame on this salon, you should be treating all clients with the utmost respect, not disrespect which I believe was rooted in racial discrimination. read more

This was my first visit to Fiorio and they exceeded my expectations. Daniel took the time to understand my needs, then shared his vision of the best cut for my hair and face shape. We were totally in sync. Finally, he executed a technical cut with ease and precision. I am so happy to have found this stylist! read more

Honestly worst possible experience in management! The hairstylist was good and did her job as she was guided by Mark ( the manager who is Mr.Fioros' Son ). I went in with nice freshly trimmed hair to get ombre the hairstylist called the manager over for consultation at which I showed them a picture and he said it would really damage my hair so we came to the conclusion to do a shade darker. He even showed me a pic of how it would look! My hair color was not changed what so ever it was worse because it was just damaged from the bleaching. When I went on to complain about it he just said not to pay and wont deal with my hair anymore!! They didn't even want me back as a customer! He treated us very poorly. He left without an apology and when I told the receptionist thats not how to treat customers I would like to talk to him she advised that he is on a "business phone call" I wish there was a lower rate then 1 star because thats what he deserved! read more

Very clean, wonderful salon in the heart of Yorkville. Staff is very friendly with a cool, relaxed environment. Highly recommend!

Just had a haircut with Halsey and FINALLY I found a stylist who knows what to do with my hair! It was exactly what I've been looking for about 2 years now and although it was a bit pricey ($50) It was definitely worth it. Halsey's a down to earth guy, adds in humour to his work and gets it done fast, exactly what I was looking for! This Fiorio looks really nice too with the 3 floors and all, I'm pretty impressed. I was in and out pretty fast and got exactly what I wanted including the service Fiorio is known for. read more

I've been coming here for a long time and have seen a lot of stylist comes and go. I let things slide but when you're charging the prices you are for a haircut, customer service should be top priority. My biggest issue is their receptionist - I wish I remembered here name but she's probably one of the rudest people ever. When you call to ask for an appointment, no hi or how can I help you - all I got was a "hold" and then "what" - I was so taken aback and I should've known it would be a bad experience. Anyways, booked an appointment for a cut and upon arrival I was told I didn't have an appointment and they couldn't take me. I even showed them my phone that I called for an appointment and even received a follow-up reminder call - but nope. It was my fault and they couldn't take me. Ever since that incident I've stopped going and I refuse to go back! I expected a much better service for the prices I pay. They've lost a long-time customer because of their horrendous customer service. The only reason they've gotten two stars is because the stylists I went to did a good job. read more

Stephen Russel has been my colorist for over 10 years. My experience is always excellent: my color is fabulous; Stephen is kind, patient and smart; and the team that surrounds him is terrific. Everyone, like him, is kind, professional, and welcoming. I have taken to Yelp to recount an exceptional kindness. Having had surgery which impeded the use of my arm for a period of time, Stephen and team have gone above and beyond, offering me the opportunity to come have my hair washed. I have done so and each of the team, from those washing my hair, to those booking me in, and the rest of the team throughout the salon, are tremendously gracious, and supportive. Truly, it's an extraordinarily thoughtful gesture, and so greatly appreciated. read more

I'm finally back to give a review for this salon, long after deciding to stop going there. The reason I was a returning customer for many years was just because one of the female colourists did a really nice job (even if she was aloof with me). Unfortunately due to scheduling issues I regularly had to get the colour done by various other colourists, including Marc (owner's son) and others, which always turned out badly (Marc made my hair almost white blonde even though I specifically said I wanted to go darker; the other ones also sometimes ignored instructions). The stylists are mostly okay as long as you don't get a random student doing it after a colour. I mean I'm really easy going and just kept giving them additional chances despite one screw-up after another, especially since I liked the generally unpretentious attitude of the staff. The last straw was when I went to get my colour + cut and I made clear when making the appointment (and when I arrived) that I absolutely had to get to an event on time right after the cut/colour, and the colourist was strangely giving every kind of rigmarole excuse for why she was taking so damn long to do my colour (super slow foils, free "treatment," additional development time, epic sitting around) and I finally asked how much longer I would have to wait for the stylist to cut my hair -- and the colourist hmms and hawws and finally tells me the stylist would be AT LEAST another half hour or more because they were doing a complex style for someone. I was absolutely floored and had to leave with my hair wet. (They did offer to dry it, but at that point I was already late and I was p.o'ed that I wouldn't be able to get my cut.) The management didn't bother to do anything to attend to my frustration; same absurd shruggy attitude as several occasions before. That was it -- done with that salon. read more

Steven, as the top colourist, gave me advice to correct my over-highlighted hair. He said, "We need to go a little darker." Well, a little darker became a medium brown. I'd say that is a lot dark than my natural ash blonde. When I left his hands for my cut - hair still wet of course, I had a glob of colour in my ear - but I didn't know this at the time. Downstairs I go to see Linda. First of all, she talked to me about what she was going to do. I explained that my hair tends to go frizzy. Undaunted, she began to cut away. She used scissors but she may as well have used a razor. I mentioned that my bangs dry very short so please leave them a little longer. All this fell on deaf ears. At home, I tried to pull my hair back into a french roll - not going to happen! What I did find was the big blob of hair colour stuck in my ear. Really? How could it be that neither of these professionals have missed something the size of a dime sitting in my ear? I could see it clearly and entirely in the mirror. NICE job guys! The next morning I decided to wash my hair to see if my own hand would fix the mess they had made. (Note: I was a hair model in my past life so I KNOW how to manage every kind of cut and possess a myriad of hair utensils.) In the end, the hair colour just irritates me because it is unflattering to my skin tone and the cut is spiky and frizzy. I'm more the sophisticated sort than the whimsical type... good thing hair grows! IMO, neither of these two senior professionals remotely listened to what I had to say or wanted - methinks that is rather unprofessional! The best part... Linda was talking about clothing etc... and she said something about "us" being about the same age. Later she talked about turning 60. I'm just past 50!!! Nothing like adding on a great insult to a lousy hair cut! read more

I agree with Bijan - Hal is amazing (he now owns the Fiorio Richmond Hill location). I thought I was a valued client - my family and I having loyally gone to Fiorio Cumberland for almost 7 years... but just recently I had an issue with my colour - was a brunette (much like Kristen Stewart) trying to go a dirty blonde and when I was disappointed with the result (same all over dark brunette colour with barely noticeable medium brown/caramel highlights - not at all what I was asking for), I was told by the senior colourist I went to that because she said I'd still see some of the original colour, it wasn't a technical error that I remained the same all over brunette I was when I walked in and I'd be charged to have it lightened. I should add that my expectations are in no way unrealistic - I would have been happy to have even a lighter brown colour... but when friends and family are asking why you didn't end up going to your hair salon... it doesn't really speak well for the job that was done. In any event, it was a conversation that could have no less been had over the phone - instead I had to make an appointment, drive all the way downtown & pay for parking only to be told by the senior colourist I'd have to pay to fix my hair to get it closer to what I was asking for in the first place. Before this experience, I would tell all my friends and family to go to Fiorio - little did I know that they were capable of treating their clients this way. So disappointed - will never return to that salon ever again bc of the way I was treated. Would strongly suggest you find another salon just in case you find yourself disappointed with their work - would hate for someone to experience the same thing I've just experienced. read more

I have been using this salon for all of my beauty needs - colour, cut and esthetics for almost fifteen years. I love the Fiorio team, but people should know that they treat the loyal customers the same way that they treat a first time client. Everyone gets a smile when they walk in, and everyone walks out feeling fantastic. Also, I'm a young female, but there is a huge variety of clients - men, women, young and old! Really, the staff there can help people of all ages and shapes. The key thing about Fiorio is that they take the time to train their own. So, everyone - even a junior has already gone through a few years training to learn the works. Plus, the Fiorio staff know one another after all of that schooling, so everyone appears happy and friendly with one another. I adore the staff at all levels, including the management. The salon offers such a warm and comforting place to visit. Plus, it's extremely clean! The real reason to go is because of the phenominal care and service that everyone there offers. They know hair. Not sure what you want? Ask! They know how to make you look like yourself and keep it natural, but they can help you be a better version! They want to stick with your natural style. This salon is not trying to make everyone cookie-cutter Yorkville. You can either go in and ask to have them give you their thoughts, or go in knowing exactly what you want. Either way, they'll make you happy and smiling. If, you ever arent loving your service, they act professionally and work with you to help you get what you want. What a lovely place. I cannot recommend it more. It's awesome. Try it. You'll see what I'm talking about. read more

I just finished my blow dry for my Christmas party at Fiorio with Christine. What a disaster! Crumpled, frizzy. I asked for something so simple, volume with a wave and what I got are chunks of crumpled hair. I kept telling her what to do and I was obviously unhappy to which she said I'm just not used to it?! By the time I was checking out I was literally sobbing. No one offered to fix it or no charge. This is for my Christmas party in 2 hours...I have no time to fix this, so $40 later I will be wearing my hair up. never again, stay away from this place. read more

Michael Medeiros is a most talented and conscientious hairdresser. He has impeccable taste and his cuts grow out beautifully. I haven't had a better hairdresser in the 10 years that I've been in Toronto and he is an exception in a city of overpriced mediocrity! read more

I give my experience at fiorio 3/5 as I half enjoyed my experience. The colourist kelly was AMAZING at doing my hair... As I have thick hair and a dye job that was hard to get rid of. I give her 5/5. However, when it came time for my cut, by a junior stylist, I was given a hair cut I probably could have given myself... she did not really listen to me when I told her I wanted it shorter and did the bare minimum with zero detail. She combed my Hair so aggressively I'm surprised she didn't snap that comb right in half. I left with the most ridiculous blow out that I ever seen . I have never had such a horrible hair cut and style. Stick with a senior stylist. read more

Awful Awful Awful..made appointment with senior color tech. so that I would have the best person coloring my hair. Figured worth the extra cost as I have blonde hair and was going blonder. The stylist came and we spoke regarding what it was I wanted and what he was able to do. To say he ruined my hair would bean understatement. He basically turned my head into a bleachy yellow mess. It was white with yellow streaks. I was unable to tell my stylist as he was GETTING A HAIRCUT! he never once came to check on me nor see how it turned out. He was seated on the other side of the salon getting a haircut by other staff...I even had other staff look at me and giggle..as this is supposed to be an upscale area and staff. I would rather of went to a magicuts...I will NEVER go back and will tell everyone how bad the entire experience was ..looking back I am glad I didn't complain as I would not allow them to ruin it more...wish I saved the 160.00 as I now will have to get it corrected.
