I've been here five times, four times for a haircut and once for an updo. Everytime I've been, I have been very pleased with their service and the quality of their cuts/styling! My first stylist was Ana and she did a great job with my hair, taught me a bunch of strategies on how to keep my hair from looking limp (I have very fine hair) and styled it very nicely when I told her I was going to a party after! The second time Ana was fully booked on that day so I had tried a new stylist, her name is Paulina. Great girl and loved her! Although more pricey than Ana, she did a super amazing job when I told her I wanted to chop my hair down to shoulder length and to do something nice with my fringe... I didn't give her much to work on because I didn't know myself what I wanted exactly, but she did such an amazing job figuring out what looked great on me that I got a million compliments at work the next day :) Furthermore, the bang trim is complimentary and so I just walked in one day and got Michelle (I think that was her name... ?) To cut my bangs. I was doing a really poor job of describing how Paulina had done it, but she was super patient with me and didn't touch my hair until she UNDERSTOOD EXACTLY what I wanted. I was very grateful to her for her patience and keeping my happiness her first priority. Lastly, I have also had the opportunity to get my hair cut and had an updo done by Asha. By far the most priciest stylist that's ever cut my hair but again worth every penny. To get your hair done exactly the way you want it to be done can never beat out risky $30 cuts at random asian salon. I will admit this is a pricey salon, but I've had enough experience with cheap salons and plenty of hair mishaps to convince me to pay a premium to get exactly what I want and pay for. read more

There has been an ownership change at this place recently so a lot of the old review might not apply. I kind of followed the person who cuts my hair to this location :) The prices are a bit on the higher for men's haircuts. The location itself is decent and is a lot larger than one expects from the outside. The setup is functional and I can't really comment on the other services (perm, hair color etc.) as I don't use any of those. The location is decent and a short walk from TTC subway. read more

Mazz Salon - Hair Salons Near Me - Toronto, Ontario

I have been going to Mazz Salon and Nina for several years. I have never been someone who sticks with a stylist. However, since coming here, I am always happy with the results (VERY!) and service. The staff are great, it's got a low key warm friendly vibe. Prices are very fair and always clean. Whether male or female, old or young, I have only witnessed many other happy customers much like myself. They well deserve this 5 star rating. read more

Took my teenage daughters to this salon, and was made to feel unwelcome because I wanted to stay with them while they had their hair done, the woman Nina who said she is the owner (she didn't look like a salon owner) was yelling at one of her employees in front of us and was really rude to me and told me I should leave because there is no room for me to wait in the salon if I am not having my hair done, I was shocked and didn't want to make a scene for my daughters, so I left ( I own a condo at Quantum so a short walk away) My daughters were charged 175.00 more than they had been quoted on the phone by a lady named Kim who was doing their hair that day! That is probably why Nina wanted me to leave, I wish I had known about the poor repuation of this salon before going there, My neighboour told me about how the salon is now a revolving door with employees since the new woman took over and that she stopped going after the original powner sold it to a woman named Anne and how they are notorius for quoting one price and then charging more when you are out of the chair. I have no idea how this place is still open, they over processed my daughters color as well and her hair was damaged, my hair dresser in Yorkville at Sassoon had to do a lot of treatment and repair to fix the mess this woman Kim made. Avoid this place its just a low end salon overcharging customers. Everyone in the area knows apparently but we sadly had not been aware :( read more

Horrible experience while I listened the the salon manager yell at a hair stylist in front of clients and staff. Not a good environment at all And made me sick to my stomache! read more

Used to come to this salon. very disappointed by the customer service and the kearatin treatment. Will.not be returning. Rosemarie read more

They do not know how to do highlites or lowlites. I had visible borders between the lowlite colour and my natural hair colour. The woman who did them, combed the two colours together before she rinsed them out. She also put much more dark colour at the back where my hair is naturally dark. This was very expensive, and I was very disappointed. read more

Only reason I go here is for Anna, who started when management changed. I've been with her for a while - ever since she was at Hair Story! She's skilled with men hair and she always does a great job no matter what style I go for. She has a loyal following of clients so that says a lot. Of course this being a salon, the prices aren't comparable to her previous places. You do get a massage and two washes with your appointment - at least that was the process prior to covid. One thing I do miss is the molding paste Anna used to sell - HardPopin which she discontinued. read more

Hi and Good Day!! It was and still is a pleasure to see the owner and his team do well. I have known him and the ladies. Enjoy success as you deserve it. Keep up the great work team!!. read more

I went because I wanted a good hair dye job. The guy I had was really nice and I enjoyed talking to him but he said "I have been doing this for 14 years and I don't think red would look good on you. I choose this colour" while pointing to a dark blonde/light brown colour. I agreed - he was the expert and I trusted him. I shouldn't have. An hour and a half later my hair was still the exact same colour. Under the light it didn't look different, in the sun...nothing. I could tell he felt bad because he said "to bring the colour out I'll give you a trim - complimentary" although I had specified that I absolutely did not want cut. The trim was not only more of a cut than a trim when I got home I noticed it was UNEVEN. One side is longer than the other. Feeling bad he also blowdried my hair nicely, which was nice and I felt bad so I tipped him well but literally left looking the same. For an expert...he did a very bad job. That being said many of the other hair dressers looked like they knew what they were doing. The place itself was nice (very expensive though) and they even offer you tea or coffee (and even wine!) while you are sitting waiting for the colour to (hopefully) appear. Nice little touch. I would not recommend it because my experience was a waste of time and money but they are nice and perhaps I just ended up with a not-so-knowledgeable stylist. read more

Yes. I have indeed experienced WAY better. My regular hair stylist ( which I have reviewed here previously, btw.) wasn't available to see me on such short notice, so I took an appointment there yesterday, for a colour, looking to change my red highlights back to their natural hue -Dark brown, Almost BLACK, which you would think, wouldn't cause such a problem. WRONG!- I ended up walking out looking the exact same as I did walking in. No, I didn't pay ( or this review would have been a page long rant!), but these are 2 hours I will never get back. Now, to make it worse, my seemingly puzzled colourist says to me "this has NEVER happened, it is likely your hair that is the trouble (Make me feel worse, why don't you! I was already having a bad day as it is!) Then took pictures of my hair, for 'reference' (are you serious?). So today, would you know that I applied a colour that I bough at Shopper's.. a SEMI PERMANENT hue at that, and guess what? It worked. I MUST be a genius!! Furthermore, I wan't overall impressed with the salon itself. Everyone was nice enough, until it got really weird towards the end, but the salon itself is a little run down, old looking, and could use a serious facelift. I was shocked when I was offered coffee, tea or wine?? Are you serious? LOL.. seems kinda weird for a hair salon no? Maybe that's why everyone there is looking SO happy, there! Man, they are all drunk! LOL Ugh.. never again.. read more

I've had a few haircuts here with a couple of different stylists junior and senior - very happy each time. I haven't done any colour or highlights but I do have extremely fine hair and each time I leave the salon feeling like I have the thick mane I've always wanted. They use great products, and are a highly professional team. Definitely recommend. read more

I have never been to Mazz, though I have lived right around the corner for over a decade..and all I can say is that I have been missing out! Fabulous new colour (I came in with bad colour from years of Shopper's Drug Mart boxes that made my hair always kind of orange). Nina gave me exactly what I wanted, is super nice, and very talented. I can't believe how good my hair looks. I will definitely return as a regular customer. Highly recommend. read more

I went to Mazz Salon after purchasing a deal that I found online. My colour was done by Johanna and she did an AMAZING job!! I was a little nervous when I first went, as nerve racking as any woman knows going to a new salon can be. I am very picky about my hair and have had my heart broken many times by stylists and colourists who do not know what they are doing. However, this salon definitely surprised me and did a wonderful job!! Johanna made my colour look AMAZING (a deep burgundy red), she herself being completely and genuinely awesome. I would DEFINITELY recommend Johanna (and MAZZ) to anyone and everyone!! read more

I did not have a good experience. They were really friendly, and gave me a walk-in appointment, but things got really weird at the end. My hair stylist's next appointment came in so she started rushing through my hair. I asked for my already-existing bangs to be trimmed blunt. Instead they were cut to be wispy, uneven and crooked, then blowdried to be sticking straight off my forehead like duck's bill (no exaggeration). I thought it would be better after I showered...but looks like I have to hide them beneath a headband for a couple of weeks until they grow out. The rest of my hair is good, but I can't get around the bangs. read more

Jen cut my hair today and I couldn't be happier. I told her I wanted a major change and she talked me through a few options she thought would look good with my face shape. As this was a major change (I went from below shoulder length to chin length) she took the extra time to do a very thorough job and the results are amazing. She also spent time at the end discussing how to style it when on my own. Highly recommend Jen! Also they give a referral discount so if you were referred by a friend you get 20% off and so does the person who referred you. read more

I've been getting my hair cut here for a year and I love it. Marco cuts my hair and does an amazing job. He pays attention to detail and is a perfectionist when it comes to cutting hair. The staff are all friendly. I highly recommend this salon. read more

Went for my second time today and got a great haircut! While I didn't do anything overly exciting with my hair, the stylist gave me some good advice on what I should go with (layers) and how I should care for my hair after. Additionally, they took my appointment on time and gave us a 20% off discount because of a referral. Overall, Mazz is a great salon and provides good haircuts for fair prices. read more

I have the thickest and longest hair and do not trust a soul with them. My girlfriend recommended this salon since I live close by and went for full highlights with Joanne. She did the most amazing highlights without paying the $300+ I usually pay!!!! Not only did she give me great service and consultation, the atmosphere and the staff were super nice. I highly recommend this place, I will never be able to change! read more

I've been seeing Johanna for highlights and other random colour changes for about 5 years now. She def knows her stuff and is always happy to accommodate a new style. Great job. Will be coming back as long as she's there read more

NOPE! I have curly hair but the stylist insisted on straightening it for the cut. I kept telling her I needed it shorter in the front with more layers, but she insisted that was the wrong thing to do. My hair looked somewhat cute when I left the salon, but the next day, when I tried to wear it curly, it looked like a pyramid. Absolutely atrocious. Clearly in need of a lot more layering. I KNEW IT! She didn't listen to me and didn't give me what I specifically asked her for. I even showed her a photo, but she was clearly unwilling to cut my hair that short. Not fair. I paid the price and I now need another haircut. Never going back. And I'll never recommend the place. read more

I paid $90 for too short, uneven layers, and I already have some split ends after four days. This is a $20 hair cut. Also the product they used in my hair had a very strong and unpleasant odor. Salon wasn't impressive either: not offered anything to drink (although there were only two customers and the woman at the front desk sat there the whole time), very uncomfortable sink so the wash not not enjoyable at all, no head massage, nothing extra all around just the basics. I wouldn't usually complain about this but for the price I paid I would expect more. There are plenty of other salons in the area who will give you a great cut and customer service for this price. Only pros are that the stylist was nice (not good, but nice) and they're open Sundays. Maybe I would have had a different experience during the week, who knows, I won't be going back. read more

I stopped in on a Sunday because i saw that it was open and I found my new hairdresser. The staff were very fun and laid back and the hairdresser suggested something different than I normally get and I am glad I took his advice. Its a much fresher cut, more modern and its growing out better than when i first got it. I definitely recommend it. read more

Dawn is amazing and everytime I go to her, I leave really happy. She is the only one thats gets my complicated south asian hair! She always makes sure I get exactly what I want. Also, her blowdrys are really great so I always book a cut before an event and if I dont have an event, I go out anyways to show off my hair. read more

It was my first time visiting the salon as I purchased an online voucher for a discounted full colour. I saw Albert for both a cut and the colour and he was outstanding. He was very patient with me when choosing the colour (a copper red) and suggested we added 20% of a different (copper red) colour altogether. I could not have been more pleased with the end result. I also have very long hair and have a long history of stylists cutting off more than I instructed. Albert did exactly what I asked - he gave me a proper trim and generally shaped my hair without compromising the length. The owner and other staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and I never for a moment felt like I was treated differently because I was a new client using a voucher. I will definitely go back to Mazz Salon and would definitely recommend Albert for cut or colour services. read more

I recently had haircut #2 with Albert, and it is one of the nicest cuts I've ever had. I went to the salon in November for a fringe trim, even though I was seeing another stylist at another salon at that point. Albert paid a great deal of care and attention to my horror bangs, and it was this approach that led me to booking with him again. As I am growing my hair, he respected this and didn't talk me out of it, just advised very logically as to how to go about the in between stage. This second cut takes me closer to what I'm after, again with no pressure to do anything crazy , and with a great attitude. Having been used to a 45 minute speed do, with assistants washing and sometimes even drying it, this stylist is to be recommended for his dedication and unrushed attitude. read more

I had a very good experience at this salon. All of the staff were extremely courteous, unpretentious, friendly, and they offered excellent cut and colour services. I was very satisfied with both the haircut and colour; the stylist was very good about asking for my preferences whilst offering her own professional opinions / recommendations. I only rated the salon 4 stars out of 5 because the prices are typical of the area in Toronto, which is to say high (but ultimately not out of the ordinary for Yonge-Eglinton). However, the warm, friendly and professional service were worth the price. A great salon overall and I will happily go back! read more

I have very long, very curly hair and have really struggled to find somewhere/someone I really like to do my hair. Most places do the bare minimum and rush me, or argue with me as to what I'm looking for (keeping length is really important to me). For these reasons I usually wait far too long between cuts. It was about that time and I didn't want to go back to any of the places I'd been before. I really only needed a trim so I figured I'd chance trying somewhere new. I walk past Mazz almost every day and thought I'd give it a shot (it was actually between Mazz and another salon in the area but Mazz actually got back to me first. I still haven't heard from the other place) and I'm so glad I did! Everyone was incredibly friendly and warm right away. Jen, who was my stylist, is so sweet and really listened to what I wanted. I have A LOT of hair so of course the appointment went over time, but she didn't rush me and immediately made a note in my file to book extra time if (when) I return. She took her time to finish my hair and make any final touch ups. When i was done i asked about the products she used. She showed them to me and recommended a couple others, but didn't push me to buy anything at all. My hair looks great and I'm so happy with it. The cost of the cut was also pretty reasonable. I've paid way more and been disappointed. If you have curly hair and are tired or paying way too much or not REALLY happy with other Curly salons, definitely go see Jen. You won't be disappointed. read more
