But, I trusted Jeff and his advice on the situation and his recommended solution. Recently, another friend of mine had a lot of issues with her laptop, and I took it to Drop Zone. I worked with Jeff, who spent time to discuss his thoughts about the unit, and possible issues and solutions. My friend decided to follow his advice of diagnosing/repairing her solid/quality (though older) laptop instead of getting a new one. I dropped it off one day, and he spent more time on the phone with me, over the following few days, to listen to my thoughts and discuss various decisions to be made as he was working on the laptop. Jeff helped with updating the laptop (O/S, SSD Drive, replace Mobo battery, etc.) to a nice unit my friend can continue to use, hopefully many years. I appreciate Jeff taking time to explain and discuss items to help making decisions and trust his technical knowledge and careful work.

In mid November of 2025, I took my laptop in for repair because it wouldn't boot up and I needed it…read morefor my upcoming finals. It took about less than a week to get it back, but they said it had a faulty NVME so I needed to pay nearly $300 for a replacement. They also verbally said Windows couldn't load but the paper they gave back clearly stated it did boot. But by the time I took it home, I tested it out myself. I inserted the "so called faulty NVME" and my laptop DID boot up. I thought I still had a battery issue because it would only boot up while it was charging. I then saw they disconnected the thin wire to the battery which directed current from the power supply. They never plugged it back in. After finding that out, I did my own diagnostics and couldn't see any issues with my NVME. I used the Windows Powershell terminal to check on the NVME's health and there were no issues what so ever. I went back to ask what exactly the issue was and what actually got my laptop to turn on, because clearly it wasn't the NVME. The man got mad and wanted me to take down any review with the return of the $100, but I refused. I will never know what they did to get my laptop to turn on again, but I do know they scammed me into believing my OS couldn't boot and I needed their NVME replacement for $300... Usually NVMEs fail early on when getting a new laptop (infant mortality rate of 3-6 months) and I've had this laptop for many years now. NVMEs don't even have anything to do with the battery so this tipped me off. They used simple NVME health tools which I replicated (they mentioned CrystalDiskInfo) and saw NOTHING wrong. They either don't know what they're doing/talking about or they're intentionally scamming. Get your laptop issues fixed else where and save your money. They are not transparent and will create issues rather than fix it. Glad they turned on my laptop at least. That's all I needed. Do your own research as well and understand what EXACTLY they're telling you.

Between the 2 items, I had to drive there 5 different times from Plymouth with my 3 toddlers in tow. My phone is worse than it was when I turned it in. It had a problem with the charger port, but now multiple speakers aren't working right. My phone is useless for talking on and now for watching any videos (think because they opened it multiple times and things got messed up inside). They replaced the charger port and then people couldn't hear me. The guy originally got defensive and claimed it must be the other peoples phones that are an issue, not mine. They replaced it again saying the speaker on the new charger port unit could be bad (it was) and they've had issue with that particular brand before. The next one worked at first, but then it messed up as well. I had to miss a medical appointment, have missed calls with loved ones and lots of inconveniences because of it (not to mention all the gas money and time I spent on my days off trying be done with it all). I can't afford a new phone. My iPad had a shattered spot off to the side of the screen. It still worked just fine. If I would've known there was a chance they could break the motherboard, I would've never risked it. They broke the motherboard and now my iPad doesn't work at all and the screen is destroyed. I don't have money for an iPad either. Multiple times they tried to sell me a used one they had. They don't seem like they've been doing this all that long. The vibe was shady from the start. Zero integrity and I don't believe they're honest. Wish I went with my gut and walked out. Oh and no refunds. Once you pay, it's theirs.

I had been putting off getting the battery replaced, for about a year, on my old iPhone because I thought I had to go to Folsom or Sac and it might take a while. We popped in to Red Shoe Rescue hoping that was a service they provided, not really expecting it to happen then as it was already getting late and they closed in half an hour, and the owner told us it would be no problem at all. They were super nice, took down some of our info, checked the phone for any previous damage, took our phone in back and swapped the battery out in a jiffy. We also chatted a bit about techie stuff from about twenty years ago, when I was more technically inclined.
