I visited this store a long time ago when a friend of mine had a problem with her laptop. At that…read moretime, my friend decided not to spend money to diagnose/repair the laptop, and nothing came out of the visit. But, I trusted Jeff and his advice on the situation and his recommended solution. Recently, another friend of mine had a lot of issues with her laptop, and I took it to Drop Zone. I worked with Jeff, who spent time to discuss his thoughts about the unit, and possible issues and solutions. My friend decided to follow his advice of diagnosing/repairing her solid/quality (though older) laptop instead of getting a new one. I dropped it off one day, and he spent more time on the phone with me, over the following few days, to listen to my thoughts and discuss various decisions to be made as he was working on the laptop. Jeff helped with updating the laptop (O/S, SSD Drive, replace Mobo battery, etc.) to a nice unit my friend can continue to use, hopefully many years. I appreciate Jeff taking time to explain and discuss items to help making decisions and trust his technical knowledge and careful work.

In mid November of 2025, I took my laptop in for repair because it wouldn't boot up and I needed it…read morefor my upcoming finals. It took about less than a week to get it back, but they said it had a faulty NVME so I needed to pay nearly $300 for a replacement. They also verbally said Windows couldn't load but the paper they gave back clearly stated it did boot. But by the time I took it home, I tested it out myself. I inserted the "so called faulty NVME" and my laptop DID boot up. I thought I still had a battery issue because it would only boot up while it was charging. I then saw they disconnected the thin wire to the battery which directed current from the power supply. They never plugged it back in. After finding that out, I did my own diagnostics and couldn't see any issues with my NVME. I used the Windows Powershell terminal to check on the NVME's health and there were no issues what so ever. I went back to ask what exactly the issue was and what actually got my laptop to turn on, because clearly it wasn't the NVME. The man got mad and wanted me to take down any review with the return of the $100, but I refused. I will never know what they did to get my laptop to turn on again, but I do know they scammed me into believing my OS couldn't boot and I needed their NVME replacement for $300... Usually NVMEs fail early on when getting a new laptop (infant mortality rate of 3-6 months) and I've had this laptop for many years now. NVMEs don't even have anything to do with the battery so this tipped me off. They used simple NVME health tools which I replicated (they mentioned CrystalDiskInfo) and saw NOTHING wrong. They either don't know what they're doing/talking about or they're intentionally scamming. Get your laptop issues fixed else where and save your money. They are not transparent and will create issues rather than fix it. Glad they turned on my laptop at least. That's all I needed. Do your own research as well and understand what EXACTLY they're telling you.

After buying an SSD, another OS license, and running into a networking adapter issue .. all within a short time following purchase, the unit started to overheat and would no longer boot. Realized that my best bet would be to get a solid estimate, make a credit card warranty claim and then buy a "real" computer from a more reputable place.. Enter XTECH's. The person who helped me was Andrew, and he was extremely helpful. As he wrote up his estimate, it was obvious that this is a great place to get a computer repaired, or to purchase reconditioned computer. Very competitive labor rates, and they do not gouge the customer for inexpensive supplies like thermal paste. I have worked my whole career in high tech, so I think I have a good sense for who the good guys are, and who to avoid. These ARE the good guys! They will take good care of you.
