I just saw Dr. Tang for the first time. He was witty, polite, and knowledgeable . He explained to me the equipment he was using, what it did and why it was necessary. He was excited about my results, even though I feel I have crummy eye sight, which made me excited about my eyes (for the first time in 12 years!!!!). He gave me trial contacts, and was eager to check in with me to see how they were suiting me. He made me feel like he genuinely cares about my eyes and I actually feel comfortable enough to be honest about it. I wish all my doctors were more like Dr. Tang. Thank you SO SO much! well If I could actually get an appt for this place I could review it. I called twice, left a voicemail because NO ONE ever picks up apparently at this business. I did get call back messages from the receptionist Elena twice, which stated to call back to schedule and appt. I called during normal business hours twice after and just gave up when yet again NO ONE picked up. really??? I wonder how does this place have customers if no one ever picks up the phone!? Needless to say I called my old optometrist up in SF and they picked up on the first time during business hours and I made my appt in 5 minutes. Id rather drive to a reliable optometrist thats 30 plus minutes away than try to MAKE an Appt with this place. Dr.Tang is hilarious! To be honest, I cannot picture him having a bad day; he has one of those personalities that is always welcoming and gregarious. I was happily able to get an appointment next-day and the doctor was very thorough and friendly, yet professional. Highly recommend. read more

I admit, I was skeptical. I mean, how could this place be as friendly and professional as all the Yelp® reviews say it is? But it's true, it's true! Dr. Tang has the friendliest chairside manner you'll ever find -- maybe too friendly. He takes the time to explain everything about the exam thoroughly, from how and why he's disinfecting the scope, to what he's looking for when he looks deep into your eyes. He laid out all my options, explained the benefits of each and even discouraged me from going with the most expensive contacts (daily wear) in favor of standard-issue two-week lenses. On top of that, the contacts arrived within four days after my appointment. (That may have more to do with Johnson & Johnson, but still.) I highly recommend Blink Optometric to anyone looking for the highest quality in patient care. One visit and you'll see what I mean. (Pun entirely intended.) read more

Brought my two daughters (5 and 2) here based on their last physical exam which recommended a visit to the eye doctor. I'm so glad I chose Blink! Youngest daughter passed with flying colors, but the older one had some vision challenges which we resolved with CRT lenses. Pretty awesome stuff! Dr. Tang is amazing!!! He is so personable and very informative. He walks through the process of everything he is doing with you. He is an instructor at UC Berkeley and is very knowledgeable. He is a very nice person and extremely smart doctor. His office is so clean and he makes sure to clean his hands and equipment in front of you. His office staff is very friendly also and always offer snacks and beverages (coffee, tea, water). I have yet to wait more than 2 minutes from the time I walk in to the time I'm in the chair with the doctor. Dr. Tang truly wants you to be satisfied. He had me try on multiple pairs of contact lenses to make sure I got the ones that truly fit me best. I went back for my follow up and I loved the contacts we chose and he gave me an extra pair plus more cleanser! He knows the right kind of contact lenses for your lifestyle and isn't satisfied until you are. I enjoy going to my appointments and almost feel like I'm catching up with an old friend when I go to see him. I recommend him to everyone!!! read more

My entire appointment with Dr. Tang, from start to finish, was such a pleasure-- from walking in and Dr. Tang asking if i'd like coffee or tea (he's the only one in on Fridays) to him loading my goodie bag of freebies until it was overflowing with contact solution... I was blown away by his personable and friendly manner. It didn't hurt that he was a UCLA alum like myself (go Bruins!). We had a lot of fun bonding over our love for our alma mater. Please please, go to Dr. Tang! He explains every stage of the appointment (I just had a typical annual check-in to get a new contacts prescription) and the reasoning behind why he performs certain procedures. Ordering contacts online was pretty quick and the pricing was very competitive vs other websites. I like that they provide you with the rebate information as you are looking at the different brands. The staff is very friendly and Dr Tang is young and knowledgeable. Dr. Tang, as promised, was attentive, professional, friendly, and knowledgable. He spent a good amount of time examining my eyes and even asked if I wanted a photo of each eye ball on my camera phone (Now I show that eyeball pic to my family to amuse them : ) The receptionist, Katie, was welcoming, responsive, and pleasant -- and even had her own business card. It really felt like she was an active part of the practice. When I needed a duplicate copy of my receipt, she immediately e-mailed it to me directly after our phone conversation. They have an excellent selection of eye wear and are prompt with providing eyeglass and contact lens prescriptions. The billing process was also simple and easy. Plus, I appreciated the free samples of lens solution in the goodie bag that I received at the end of my visit, and which I put to good use afterward. Big thumbs up! First off, his office is amazing! He had the most high tech everything from the frame displays to the exam rooms and examination instruments. If you have already had an eye exam, no worries, just stop by to just look at the frame selection and take a look at the readers. They're very hipster, not like the ones you can get from Target and Walmart. Dr. Tang is one of the most knowledgeable, personable, and caring optometrists out there. He takes the time to really get to know his patients, while efficiently providing the best care. I have a very high prescription with astigmatism which is difficult to get right, but Dr. Tang did! I called and got a same day appointment for starters, amazing. Then had the pleasure of meeting both Katie and Dr. Tang who are friendly, professional and as inviting as if you were coming to their own home. I am of the 50+ age group, so my eyes are changing and I definitely need more than my over the counter readers. Dr. Tang performed the most thorough eye examination I have ever had. Dr. Tang is just amazing, he is able to turn a regular eye exam into an extraordinary experience. My 6 years old asked me to see an eye doctor - go figure how freaked out I was - found Dr. Tang's information on our insurance website, didn't check reviews didn't yelp just picked up the phone to get my son's eyes checked out asap, they got us in by next day. Through the entire exam Dr. Tang was extremely professional and friendly , he was explaining every thing to my son in a simple fun way for a 6 years old to understand and also enjoy. Service started the moment I called on the phone to inquire about their pricing. I wasn't exactly sure which insurance plan I had and the receptionist helped me find it. Fortunately they accepted my plan. I had called two other places and the receptionists didn't even ask if I'd like to schedule an appointment. If I were training receptionists I'd want them to always inquire like the ones at Blink. Not pushy just helpful! Came in and had my exam with Dr. Hua. The exam only took about 20 minutes. She was professional, friendly and informative. We found our family eye doctor. A quick tip. Wear your sunglasses people. Everyone will get cataracts if you live long enough, but those shades will push it back. Making sure that my wife gets her exam here as well. Glass frames were a bit limited according to my tastes, but there was a decent enough selection. I just have an odd shaped head and need particular specs. PS...can someone change the photo cover for this business? That dilated eye is a little unnerving :) read more

Dr. Tang is by far the most personable and knowledgable optometrist I've ever seen. I've had about 3 different eye doctors within the past few years. Each one of those doctors either 1) didn't provide the proper prescription or 2) were unable to articulate why my eyes were in the condition they are in. Dr. Tang took the time to explain each process and the condition my eyes are in. He also provided me with 4 different prescriptions along with trial pairs to truly make sure I'm satisfied. I have been a patient of Dr. Tang for several years now. I have a somewhat rare condition that makes contact lens fitting very difficult. As a matter of fact I was told by several Dr.'s that I would never be able to wear a lens on my left eye...until I met Dr. Kelvin Tang! The office is very clean and inviting and the staff is courteous and contientious. They have a great knowledge of insurance plans and assisted me with the paperwork to best utilize the insurance I have. Dr. Tang's expertise, attention to detail, and "never give up" attitude is rivaled only by his gentile "chair-side" manor and the excellent customer service of both he and his staff. This place was great. But not anymore. Communication with the changed front desk staff is challenging. So much to explain. My last order of contacts from them did not get me a clear vision on my right eye and it was very uncomfortable. I had to use the old glasses to avoid wearing contacts. The working hours are only Mon- Wed now and they don't answer your calls anymore, even if after I have left voice message to call me back. It is time for me to degrade the rating of this place and to move to another optometrist business. I called Blink Optometric a few days ago to double check if they accept my insurance which they said they did. Therefore, I scheduled an appointment for this morning. When I arrived, they gave me all the forms to complete and then I got called by the doctor. Few minutes later, a girl from reception came in to tell me that they don't accept my insurance and that I'd have to pay $150 for the eye exam. So I left because my insurance covers eye exams 100%. I am very disappointed because I don't have a lot of full days off and this was a total waste of my morning. read more
