Blind Pig Tavern is exactly what our family needed after a long day of traveling from Southern California. Athens is the first stop of an SEC college tour for my high school girls and after getting screwed by Avis giving us a lame-ass minivan rather than the Jeep that I reserved and our hotel being below Hilton standards (despite being a Hilton), a good, enjoyable dinner is what we were looking for. Compounding this issue was the fact that it was Valentine's Day on a Saturday night; for the record, VD is the absolute worst day in the world for guys. Most restaurants had waits of 45+ minutes and our appetites simply weren't in a position to cooperate with such a delay. We stumbled across Blind Pig Tavern and we immediately felt welcome. The staff was great, my spicy margaritas hit the spot and our food was A+. I went with the blackened fish sandwich and it had great flavor and it wasn't heavy. My girls enjoyed their salads and the nacho appetizer was devoured in five minutes flat. The best experience of our evening at Blind Pig Tavern was Mattie, our server. Not only was she friendly and engaging, but she has earned the title of the "Best Athens, Georgia Ambassador... Ever!" Her knowledge about the town she's grown up in and advocacy for attractions on and off the UGA campus was more than appreciated. Her livelihood and pride of her hometown and customer engagement has easily earned her this official/unofficial title! Nice sports pub with good food and casual ambience Food: The food is very good for this type of restaurant -casual not fancy. Met friends for lunch. Tried several types of burgers and sandwiches. Burgers were done as requested/ sides were good. Onion rings are fried-not the frozen and baked kind like some places. Slaw is good and fresh. But friend said the black beans were good-not overcooked and mushy. The fries were crisp. The sandwiches were on toasted bread and were tasty. Service: Servers were pleasant and helpful. The burgers here are amazing but the fries suck. It's Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde on the plate. I had the jalapeno burger while here. It's a half lbs burger and is an excellent grind. The flavor of the burger itself is very juicy and was perfectly cooked. I'm addition it had fried jalapenos, pico de Gallo, jalapeno jack cheese, and a chipotle ranch sauce. The burger itself was great but if you're looking for some spice and an extra new flavor this burger is the way to go. Every part is delicious. The jalapenos give a good heat, the pico is a fresh and well made pico that goes beyond just a tomato base to top notch flavor, and the chipotle ranch is One of the most flavorful ranches I've ever had. Overall they do a fantastic burger. The detractor to the burger is the fries. They are plain uncoated frozen fries with no seasoning. There has to be a hundred different frozen fry options for restaurants to choose from so why you'd choose this one is beyond me. Last note is the service was very good. The server was very attentive and friendly and I always appreciate good service. Overall I'd return for a great burger and while I came for lunch they had some good drink specials advertised for when you're ready for one. read more

We LOVE the food at Blind Pig. I've lived in Athens since 1990 and they have the best wings in town. We eat there frequently also. The fried mushrooms, salads, pasta salad, etc...everything is great. Tonight we sat in the bar area since it was packed. The loudest person in the place was the bartender, a male around 50, who consistently dropped F Bombs as he regaled his regulars with stories. He only stopped when he went out the side door to smoke, while the lady who sitting at the bar vaped and told her own profanity laden stories. I thought maybe it was a slip, but after the 8th or 9th F Bomb, I could notice others looking at him. He didn't seem to notice. Waitress was amazing as always. Food was delicious. read more

Had lunch here on a nice Saturday afternoon and sat on the patio. They had multiple televisions going with plenty of college football options. They have a full menu of choices of food and beer. We ordered the chicken finger salad and the philly cheesesteak wrap and fries. My salad was served cold with a lot of veggies and chopped chicken fingers. The ranch dressing complimented the salad well. My wife loved her wrap and the fries. Our waitress was great and was always checking on us. Like always the food is good, but this time the service was absolutely pathetic. A group of four very immature female servers chose to sit at the bar and use the nastiest, foulest language possible. I was on the other side by side, the garage doors, and could hear everything. I guarantee you the 20+ group of church members will not be back just like myself. I understand I'm at a bar but your employees need to understand who pays their check and also is in charge of their tip. Utterly disgusted to sit there with my 10-year-old son and my wife. The bar tender was a sweet as she could be. We were there. 10/28/23 The BBQ. Was nasty.it came out cold. Brunswick stew was definitely different. From anything I've ever had. I've never had potatoes and green peas. In my stew. Coleslaw was watered down. We sat at the bar. Watched the Ga -Fla game. Watched the bar tender try and poor beer. There was so much foam in the beer. All you got to do is clean the lines. I get this is a college town. It's downtown. But I'd want my restaurant/bar. Stopped in today for a late lunch/early dinner with my Sister after visiting our parents final resting place. It would have been our Mom's 97 birthday - pretty somber day. Upon looking at the menu, there was absolutely no doubt we would both have Reuben Sandwiches, our Mom's favorite. Your sandwiches were AMAZING and the service impeccable. We met some friends there while we were in Athens for our grandsons graduation. All we had was some appetizers since we had other plans for dinner. It was excellent. We ordered the fried mushrooms and the onion rings on the recommendation of our server. The items were very tasty and cooked just right. The dipping sauces were excellent as well. And the cocktails were perfect. The service was right on and the staff very friendly in spite of the restaurant being very busy. My biggest surprise was the tab. One thing I will note is when we arrived and said we had a larger party the hostess was clearly upset about it which did not feel welcoming at all. This place is solid! I didn't have great expectations, but I have seen pics and WOOO does this place need to be re-reviewed LOL I dont think the reviews do this place justice. Considering it is in a small town like Athens, this place provides great quality burgers for a great price. And this isnt your average burger, they have so many great solutions for the average burger eater to the more adventurous. Food - 5 stars I had the ninjaliscious burger and it was so good! A little small, but packed with flavor. Topped with Roasted red peppers, blue cheese crumbles. super crispy onion rings, and Ninja Mayo. I LOVE LOVEEE things that are rich and savory and this was IT. SO glad a burger place like this exists in Athens. It is a great addition to the very limited selection! Their pimento cheese burger is so good, but the service is always lacking. Whether I'm trying to place an order for pickup or I'm dining in with a friend, there's just one thing that's off. For example, I have tried to place orders for pick up several times and the restaurant has simply not answered my calls, despite trying a few times. It's just ridiculously irritating. If they only have certain hours they take orders over the phone, they need to list that on the website and ordering on their website doesn't work. So don't try that. the good was great! the service was...questionable. listen, i'm a server myself. i understand how working in a restaurant can be. but when i come in and there's only two other tables, and my server ignores me the entire time...i'm not as understanding. we weren't greeted until at least ten minutes after being sat. our server, "faith" got our order, and when the food came out she dropped it off and ran away before we even got a word out of our mouths. she was not seen again until after we had already finished eating and stacked our plates. we had to go up to the bartender to ask for ranch. she was sweet. however, faith made me never want to return to this location. she didn't even check us out, we were waiting for so long another server asked if we wanted her to do it. i tipped anyways, but faith did not deserve it with the awful service she provided. read more

The think the freaked me out was that none of the wait staff were wearing masks and that there did not seem to be cleaning procedures in place. I've been frequenting the Blind Pig (affectionately shortened to "the Pig" by my friend group) since 2004 when I arrived in Athens. What started as a Wednesday night tradition back then for trivia turned into an at least weekly if not more often stop for me and my friends. I've had several favorites on the menu - the deluxe nachos (add ground beef or meat of your choice), the flaming cyrus, the Jalapeño-ya-bidness burger, the BFLGT... you get the point. I've been all around the menu and have never been disappointed. I frequently sit at the bar, where whomever is tending the bar does their best to make every customer feel like a regular. If you're feeling particularly thirsty, you can order a 32-oz beer and get a take home mug that you can bring back for discounted refills. My cabinet is full of them. They make excellent water cups at home! Want to watch a special sports event? Just ask your server or the bartender and they'll do what they can to accommodate. Be aware that on football home game days they will be crazy crowded and they offer an abbreviated menu to speed up service. It's okay though - you gotta go see the Dawgs play! The Blind Pig also offers OUTSTANDING catering services. I've had catering straight from the catering menu and have also had it where the catering staff gets creative (after discussion with the customer, of course!) When I hired them for a work event for my employer, they were accommodating at all stages of the process and very reasonably priced. Just speak to the folks on staff and they'll get you all of the details. All in all, I've been to the Pig countless times over the last 13+ years and I've loved it every time! Took someone from out of town here for a burger. Nothing, wowed me. The burger was OK, but the bun was not fresh and the burgers are all cooked well. French fries were OK but had paprika on them. Not sure why. Onion ring appetizer is expensive and the onion rings are nothing to write home about. In fact, like with the fries, they added a random seasoning, in this case it was either parsley or oregano in the flour. It added nothing to the flavor. There is some sort of mustard dipping sauce with the onion rings, but it was mediocre at best. I doubt I would return here. read more
