I'm going to give this place 2 stars only because of the very sweet waitress and I'm in a good mood. Other than that this place is a mediocre mess which is really a shame because it has the possibility of being so much more. Located on a quiet corner away from the hustle and bustle of Naples, the place seems like a cute French bistro you might find in Paris. Then you try to speak to the person right next to you and realize you cannot possibly hear a word because the place is so loud and no one has thought that people who go out to dinner together might actually want to speak to each other while dining! After sitting there for about 25 minutes the nice waitress came to take our order. Unfortunately she had an accent which made understanding her nearly impossible in a room where you can barely hear the person next to you anyway. We ordered escargot and a soup for an appetizer and waited and waited and waited and waited and after another 45 minutes finally our appetizers and entrees all came at once! We sent back the entrees and ate our mediocre at best appetizers. Our entrees eventually made it and were mediocre as well. All in all a very disappointing experience with very ordinary food and service with a lovely and personable waitress. Be smarter than me and save your night and go somewhere else. Had dinner this evening at Bleu Provence and it was EXCELLENT!!! This was an after work get together and the four of us just wanted to relax and have a nice time. Our server Dan was very attentive, personable and hospitable. I had a Cherry Cosmopolitan to start and the Sea Bass with mushroom risotto as my entree, both the drink and the entree were wonderful! And don't let me get started on how delightful the bread with the olive spread was, Dan graciously brought more for our table as it was a big hit with all of us! Due to being 'off season' we were able to get a table with no problem but I recommend on the weekend call ahead to secure a table as it was busy at @630pm. I look forward to returning .... read more

Last night we were looking forward to a fabulous restaurant experience. When we arrived at our original place , we were disappointed that no one was following covid rules. Luckily, Blue Provence was right across the street. With no reservations, they warmly greeted us, all with masks and took us to a beautiful table. We had champagne and a Bordeaux to be decanted and Jeff Expertly took care of us. We took our time and waded through the menu. Our friend had dined here before so we all tried different appetizers. Escargots, Mussels and Foie Gras. All delicious and delivered with aplomb. We were laughing and enjoying ourselves. We felt safe. Our entrees bouillabaisse, mussels and beef bourguignon were off the charts. I could tell from the moaning. Jeff did an excellent job both recommending dishes and making us all feel special. So the moral of the story is disappointment can turn into a magical evening. read more

THE PICKY EATER FROM BOSTON Review: Bleu Provence 1234 8th St. South, Naples 239-261-8239 Bleu Provence is owned by Executive Chef Lysielle Cariot and her Husband Jacques, a couple who moved from Provence, France to open their restaurant in Naples in 1999. Situated within a stone's throw of Naples Bay and the City Dock, the exterior is charming and the cheery Valets whisk your car away for you. As you enter, the mood is immediately set for a delightful evening. I love France. So having said that, when I walk into a restaurant and the ambiance is full of Provençal elegance with blue and white decor, beautiful china, heavy silverware, white tablecloths, sparkly chandeliers and classic French music playing softly in the background... je suis tres heureux! We opted to sit in what they call the Garden. It's outside but you're protected by an awning, blue and white striped umbrellas and lush landscaping so you feel very private and cozy yet there's a wonderful al fresco vibe. One of the special features of Bleu Provence is their amazing Wine selection. They have literally hundreds of options in all price ranges. They even have a wine shop "Bleu Cellar" attached to the restaurant which boasts over 60,000 bottles in their Cave. I skipped my usual Martini this time and opted for sparkling Pellegrino and my Husband enjoyed a nice Ricasoli Chianti Classico Gold. As soon as we were seated, our server Ivan brought us a piping hot bread board with butter and tapenade, that disappeared in seconds and Ivan promptly brought us another. My Daughter and I decided to share a salad. It was a delightful selection of strawberries, avocado, Manchego cheese over arugula, topped with pistachios and dressed with a lemon vinaigrette. Ivan did an outstanding job and was gracious enough to actually split the salad onto two plates which was much appreciated. And yes, he crumbed the tablecloth between courses, an elegant touch. The menu offers an enticing array of delicious Bistro dishes however even though I've dined here many times I can't even imagine ordering anything other than the Wagyu Short Ribs Bourguignon, my daughter ordered that as well. It's one of those memorable meals that pops into your mind when you're drifting off to sleep. The beef is so densely delicious and tender and it's bathed in a rich red wine reduction, perched upon a mound of creamy mashed potatoes and surrounded by beefy mushrooms and tender carrots. ($49) My husband ordered an appetizer, the Porcini Mushroom and Chestnut Veloute finished with or without Truffle oil. It was so rich and creamy I suggested he save some to pour over his steak! His main entrée was the 12 oz. Wagyu New York Strip Steak ($60) topped with a savory peppercorn sauce with options to pair that with Truffle fries, sautéed mushrooms or mushroom risotto. He's very particular about his steak and said it was perfectly prepared, medium rare and delicious. We decided to peruse the tempting dessert menu and ordered one Chocolate Mousse with three spoons. A rich and creamy mousse the size of a baseball , rolled in crumbled chocolate and drizzled with coffee caramel. Dangerously delicious! ($12.50) I know it's indelicate but I always review the Ladies room. I absolutely love the Ladies room! (Too funny hey? ) It was of course blue and white and spotless. The walls are white beadboard wainscoting with framed replicas of vintage ladies swimsuits. So charming, I would totally copy the décor in my own home! So, if you have a special date coming up and you want to be transported to a dreamy little slice of France, be sure to consider Bleu Provence. They are Zagat rated "Extraordinary perfection in food, service and décor" with dozens of other Awards for excellence. And do try the Short Ribs, one of my favorite meals in the whole city... The food and service were exceptional, and the wine list was extensive and reasonably priced. Unfortunately, other factors impacted our experience. My friend and I were seated at a small table in the darkest corner, although only two tables were occupied in the back dining room on a Monday in the late afternoon. I found myself wondering whether two men would have been dispatched to the corner. Is it so important to keep tables of four open in an empty restaurant? When we left, only five tables were occupied. Still, we might have enjoyed the ambience and privacy, had the boorish young blonde employee at the bar not decided to talk about her weekend in very loud tones to every server and kitchen staff member that walked by for the first half of our meal. She was behind a floor-to-ceiling wall and we couldn't escape the din. I told our server that we could neither hear each other nor what sounded like a lovely soundtrack, and asked if the offender could be convinced to lower her voice. No such luck. Fifteen minutes later, I personally walked around the wall over to say I would love to catch up with my friend but couldn't hear over her voice. I promptly received a "How dare you" glare. No apology - and no let up, either. The other employees did stop engaging with her soon thereafter. Earlier this year, I attended a private function at Bleu Provence and planned a late summer meal to close the season. It will be a rather long time before I forget this experience and give this restaurant another try. read more

Bleu Provence's patio is a lovely oasis, and their wine list comes in a form of a binder larger than anything I ever used in school. Our waiter was extremely friendly and great. Our food was good, we got the Spinach, Avocado and Goat Cheese salad to start (simplistic but refreshing and delicious), the Coq au Vin (delicious) and the Sea Bass (slightly overcooked but the flavors were still on point) , and then the Pear Tart with the lavender ice cream for dessert- would recommend but only if you like lavender because the flavor in the ice cream was definitely strong. They also serve a baguette with butter and an olive tapenade to start which was good. In terms of COVID precautions being taken, outdoor tables are ~3 feet apart for both sidewalk and patio, all staff wears mask, and there is hand sanitizer at check in. We were seated right by the front door & kitchen doors- probably the worst table in the whole restaurant. This is probably one of the loudest restaurants my husband & I have ever been to. We had only heard positive comments about this restaurant and so decided to try it out with another fine dining couple. We ordered the pan-fried mussels and the seared foie gras for starters. The mussels were delicious but the foie gras was a disappointment. Onto the main course, I ordered the Duck Leg Confit and my husband ordered the Wagyu Short Ribs Bourguignon. Our friends ordered the Loup de Mer and the Wagyu Short Ribs Bourguignon. The beef wasn't as tender as the men expected and my duck was dry and tasted like an old or reheated piece of meat. The fish was delicious. When I told the waitress my duck was dry, she suggested more sauce. I not only regularly order duck but I have also prepared duck. Dry duck, as with any meat, is not cured by adding sauce. The ambiance, on the porch, was lovely and elegant. The wines were exceptional and the service was attentive. But, based on the quality of the duck and the beef, we probably won't be back. read more

The restaurant lost our credit card. After the payment, our server was not able to locate our credit card. They were not apologetic at all, and suggested not to cancel this card and wait. Accordingly to the owner, there are a lot cameras monitoring the whole restaurant and he was sure to figure out what had happened to the card. Which normal person would not cancel a missing card? Also to food is getting consistently worst. Each time, there is something wrong. Either burned, cold, or causing on one occasion (a few months ago) a food poisoning. Would I return there as a local? Fabulous place... We came for their early dining special which is about $45 a person and included a three-course meal. Normally I find French food to be rather heavy, but this was not the case. The sauces were not overpowering, and the three-course meal is a real bargain. I think they make most of their money off of the alcohol! Our waiter Dana is a real jam. We met our friends for the early dining menu which is 33 dollars for glass of wine, appetizer, entree, dessert. I was thinking it was one of those fancy restaurants where I would leave hungry. Not the case! We got there and seated immediately. The restaurant was beautiful with candlelight tables. I ordered the soup, sea bass, and pear tart with violet ice cream. The menu is unique with extensive choices. Each item is presented like art with fresh and unique flavors. Be prepared to stay for awhile as they make the meal an experience. This is a time where you are trying to decide why this was one of the best restaurant experiences you can remember. I loved the vibe when we entered Blue Provence. We chose to stay inside even though the setting in their patio was delightful. Loved the fact that the tables offer some space so you can enjoy yourself without overhearing other tables. Our server was Dana. Please let me know if you can come up with a superlative better than "outstanding". If you can, I will let Dana know for he certainly meets that standard. I am certainly not an expert in French cuisine even having spent 20 days touring France last summer. There, I relied on the expertise of others and thought that was a good plan for tonight. We and our friends ordered a variety of entries and appetizers. Items that excelled included Provençal Fish Soup, Chilled beet soup, Bleu de Mer (Mediterranean Sea Bass) and Wagyu Short Ribs. Wonderful tastes and flavors. I'm told Bleu Provence's wine cave stocks 30,000 bottles. Between our server Dana and my friend (who is also quite a wine aficionado) two bottles of a wonderful white Bordeaux were chosen to accompany our meal (leaving 29,998 bottles for the rest of you). We all split an order of Chocolate Profiteroles for desert. Nothing special here but certainly not a detracting factor from an otherwise perfect experience,. We love trying new restaurants but it will be hard to do so next time we're in Naples because we'll make a beeline for Bleu Provence. read more

Have enjoyed many excellent dinners at Bleu Provence over the last 9 years. The latest, in March of 2021, was not up to the past standards. Service: Waiter had no sense of table presence - abruptly entering to interrupt without the slightest pause to allow our table to finish a sentence. Served the wrong apps and the wrong entrees to our table guests. Just not the level of service that Bleu Provence should provide. Food: Fois Gras wasn't special; might have been a little past its prime. Sea bass was fine but nothing better than we buy from Costco. Slow cooked rib was great. Bouillabaisse was a real let-down. Still giving it 4 stars because of all the great meals in the past. Any place can have a down day or two, and they are still likely recovering from Covid. We had a table of 10 people. The only fail was the Bouillabaisse, but no one seemed to be "wowed" by anything they ordered, either. Admittedly, we had high expectations. read more

We are from Europe and after living in Florida for a few years, we were looking forward to a dinner this nice French restaurant. We can't say enough about how great our experience was. We sat outside and enjoyed the evening breeze. The wine list was extensive, and you could see the sommelier had put a lot of effort in it. We started with Homemade Smoked Salmon, very refreshing. The Loup de Mer à la Plancha and Moules-Frites were beyond delicious. For dessert we had Tarte Tatin and Pear Frangipane Tart with Lavender Ice Cream, also just the way it should be made. Love this place. Food is outstanding, service is great, the setting is intimate and romantic, the outside covered porch is particularly nice, and the wine cellar is one of the best in Florida. Lately, I have simply been sitting at the small bar for happy hour, enjoying a few glasses of wine and the happy hour food specials. Perhaps the best deal is the quiche which comes with a salad and a glass of wine for 12 bucks. Unbeatable if you want a light meal, and truly a great value if you consider that most entrees are at least 40 bucks and even the cheapest house wine by the glass is just great. This is a great establishment run by great people and it deserves our patronage and support. read more

I would like to point out that a majority of the recent low ratings are due to complaints of maskless employees. I don't pay mind to them as they are not a reflection of the food, ambiance, and customer service. Giving a poor review for that Is in bad taste (pun intended) especially with an already ailing industry. What I will say is that during my visit ALL employees were properly adhering to The guidelines set by local officials. Now onto the meat and potatoes (another pun). I am very disappointed to see the way the restaurant has changed since our last visit! We had reservations at 7pm and had to wait 50 minutes for our table. The hostess informed us that the new owner has a habit of taking walk ins and making the people with reservations wait for their tables. She was very frustrated with him for doing this on a regular basis. Once we were finally seated and we ordered our food the courses came out back to back. We had barely finished our appetizer and the entrees arrived. We came back again a few days later and were seated promptly but again we felt very rushed with the food coming out before we had finished the prior course. Feels like when you go out on Valentine's Day and they rush you through your meal to turn the table. We are sad to say that we don't need to go back again. We went on a Thursday, two weeks ago for my wifes 83rd bday. Our waiter, who we loved, was out. The gentlemen(?) who waited on us couldn't have been worse. We arrived on time for the early dining, and were out the door in 35 minutes. We had our appetizers before we had our wine on the table. Service could not have been worse. It's still an expensive restaurant and frankly the service should match. I don't need to spend 150.00+ to have the bums rush to clear our table. Incidentally, there were tables available when we left. I will never go back again. Absoloutely inexcusable. We decided to take up SWFL Restaurant Week on their 3-course prix fixe menu. I wasn't sure if there would be much of a wait time since it was off-season. But when we arrived the restaurant was packed. Luckily we only had to wait for about 15 minutes for a table. The first dish I enjoyed was the smoked salmon and arugula salad. After squeezing the fresh lemon on top of the salad I dug in. I squeezed fresh cut lemon on top of the salad. The salmon was thinly sliced and the matched well with the lightness of the whole salad. The main entrée I had was the sea bass, asparagus and mashed potatoes. I've never had sea bass with the skin left on and thought that it might affect the taste. I was wrong. It was still, soft, flakey and delicious. The sea bass was topped with a crisp lemon caper sauce. Even though I enjoyed the sauce it was the mashed potatoes lining the plate that really set this dish off. The potatoes had a smoky garlic flavor and encapsulated the bass when it splintered under my fork. For desert I enjoyed the Crêpe Suzette au Grand Marnier served with Mandarin Sorbe. The crepe was soft and warm and easy to cut with a fork. I'm normally not a fan of citrus deserts, but the sorbet combined with the crepe in a mild and pleasant way. Overall I let the restaurant happy and full. I'm glad I choose this restaurant to explore for food week. read more

We always dine at Bleu Provence because of its excellent food. Friday evening decided at last minute to have Escargo y mussels. This is the first time the escargo had no garlic taste at all. Ordered a not expensive wine that Jacque the owner brings from near his home in France. Macon de village. The wine is simply a nice inexpensive wine that Total Wine sells for $14.00. Was told by Jacque's son the price was $40.00 for 2022 vintage. Very sad to see prices double and quality decrease. read more

This place was amazing. Everything about it. Valet was fast and friendly, front house staff were friendly, the wait staff were prompt, friendly, and helpful. Even though our waiter was busy (seriously, he had so many tables as well as a large party), he was attentive and made sure everything came out in a timely manner, and kept our glasses full. Omg! To this day, I can't stop talking about this place. I went here about a year ago and was blown away by this restaurant. It was located right next to water, and it looked very nice at night. I would suggest getting reservations for here. We didn't and had to wait for a bit. However, when all hope was almost lost, this magical waiter came out of nowhere and sat us outside. It was a bit cold out but they had fire stands near the table to warm us up. Everything about this place was perfect. The decor, tables, and plates were elegant. We started off with the Tuna Tartar, and it was very good. Next, I had the lamb rack which was by far the best that I have ever had. Purely MAGNIFICENT! My friend had the oysters and fries and enjoyed it. The staff was beyond friendly, and very hospitable. It was a cute restaurant in a nice little town.
