Historically the food has been terrific. Today I went for the quiche at lunch (the only time it's on the menu) and the portion has shrunken so much it's barely noticeable on the plate. They now use a large plate and fill it with salad so you won't notice. Unfortunately they have gotten too busy so Friday and Saturday nights should be avoided. The thing I love most about Bleu is that it is always consistent. I have yet to have a bad meal there. The bread is lovely, the food is always good, and the desserts are too notch. I truly think Bleu has some of the best desserts of any restaurant I have ever gone to. I only have three minor complaints. First, the service never wows me. It's always good enough, but the servers never try to make any conversation. Second, the manager often tries to flip tables and kick people out by saying thank you in a really loud voice and taking all items off the table. I get that you have to turn tables, but it's a bit much. Finally, I really wish they allowed people to make substitutions. I get that it's a pain to make every order different, but if I'm paying $53 for my steak, I want to enjoy the vegetable that it comes with. Disappointing. Overpriced. Inflexible. Our party of seven was rushed between courses because the kitchen was not busy. French onion soup lacked flavor and was not hot. The cheese was far too stingy. One person ordered a meal that was served with rice. He requested a substitute as he could not eat rice. The kitchen refused. His wife's meal included a small bowl of roasted potatoes which could have been used as a substitute. There were three couples and a single. The restaurant refused to charge couples separately saying we are only allowed to split the bill evenly up to three ways. Not a friendly way to treat customers spending hefty sums for dinner. Probably the best French food on the South Shore. I enjoyed a rabbit/hare dinner like I haven't had since my mother retired. The service was great, and made us feel like family. The ambiance is average because of the location in Mashpee Village and the limited space both inside and out. Families will want to avoid the weekends especially during summer. I used to really like it here, and I enjoyed the food and ambiance. It's changed though. I recently went and got my usual sandwich and salad. The service was still great but the food has gone downhill. I found a thick, long, gray hair in my salad near the bottom of my plate as I was eating. Grossed out is an understatement. I appreciate it being taken off the bill and the manager being apologetic, but I also got pretty sick shortly after lunch. To my knowledge, my lunch companion also didn't feel too well after our food, and we had the same meal. Almost the same, he got a potato substitute as they were out of French fries. The people are incredibly nice and the restaurant is pretty, but I will not be going back. I don't enjoy getting sick after eating or finding hair in my food. read more

Yet another fabulous dinner at Blue. Starting with exceptional oysters that could not have been fresher. Add a beet salad. A Haddock entree and sumptuous rack of lamb. I'm not sure where all the remarkable reviews are coming from. The service immediately threw us off. I asked what the mussels of the day were and then what the most popular drinks were. Instead of an actually helpful answer, the waitress says, "Have you been here before? Everything is good." Oh thanks, that really helps. We got: -Mussels of the day, which had carrots, onions and celery in broth with some white wine. 2/5 in the sense that they were edible but not good. It was like chicken soup except, you know, seafood -French onion soup - good but under salted -My husband loved the salmon but not the crab cake that came with it -The duck was good, especially the acidic sauce. The risotto that came with it was good but unremarkable. The asparagus was good, but not trimmed, so the ends were inedible. -Strawberry shortcake, good -Pistachio crime brûlée was actually almond creek brûlée with some pistachios on it. If you like almond, you'll enjoy it. The fudge it came with was really good Drinks: Fresca and Mojito, both fine It wasn't a bad experience, but not particularly good either, especially for a first wedding anniversary (and we let them know we were coming for a special occasion). We got the onion soup, escargot, and mussels to start, followed by the scallops and a halibut special as our mains, and then ended with chocolate mousse and the pistachio creme brulee. I dined with my girlfriend and another couple at Bleu last night. Being in Mashpee for most of the Summer I get to enjoy the restaurant often. It continues to be a treat to go there and in my opinion is the best fine dining restaurant on Cape Cod. From Chef Feufeu running the kitchen and creating wonderful dishes to eat, to Daniel running the dining room, to their great bar staff and wait staff, they do a wonderful job. I had the lamb chops (again) and they were perfect (again). It is a comfortable sized restaurant that allows great service from start to finish. Give it a try - you won't be disappointed. read more

French food in a mall? You betcha. This upscale mall with nice shops and other good restaurants has this French food jewel. The menu offers good cocktails, nice wines and selection of beers. The filet mignon with potatoes. Harcourt verts and sauce is cooked perfectly with tender flavor. The New Zealand rack of lamb is seasoned well and tasty served with tomato tart and assorted vegetables. The raspberry cream broule is excellent as is the service. The coffee and tea selection finishes off a terrific meal that is well priced for the quality. read more

I ordered the French onion soup to start with, and my wife got the garlic butter escargot. I was suprised by this, because she is normally not that adventurist when it comes to seafood. She loved it !! My French onion soup was a 10/10. My wife tried it, and also gave it a 10/10 ....it's so good!! I ordered the raw oysters with mignonette sauce . They were perfect, and we also ordered the Poached Foie Gras with Cranberry Walnut Bread. This is a 10/10, and a must order. I ordered the sea scallops, and my wife ordered the filet mignon . Everytime we order the filet, it's always perfect, and the sides that come with it are fantastic. My scallops were perfect, but I didnt read the full discription. They came with a maple butter glaze. I'm not a fan of sweet glaze on anything, but I was able to get most of the glaze off . Again, the sides that come with it are perfect. At this point, we are both in a food coma, but we must have dessert !!! We both ordered the Bittersweet Belgian Chocolate Mousse with whip cream and butter cookie . We could not finish :( . Bleu is such a special place located right in Mashpee, however while you're there you'll swear youve gone to France. The food is consistently outstanding. You cannot pick wrong - but good luck trying to decide. The drinks are the best in Mashpee commons, nice size pour on the wine and the crème brûlée is not to be skipped. We love dining at the bar, on their seasonal patio or in the dining room. the service is the same impeccable experience every single time thanks to the guidance of the maître d'. Excellent meal. Both halibut and salmon were terrific- great portions cooked perfectly with interesting sauces and accompaniments. But server Jen made it a home run. A modern take on traditional French food. Family of 4. Mostly great experience. We will be back. We had escargot, foie gras, Frech onion soup, and Ahi Tuna to start. Scallops, filet mignon, rack of lamb, and duck breast for the main, and split a creme brulee for dessert. Drinks were the passion green tea and parasol. Escargot: 3-4. traditional garlic parsley butter. Tender snail. Garlic was a tad sharp and overpowered the snail and parsley. Foie gras: 5. torchon style. Buttery smooth. Served with bread, arugula and grape salad, honey raspberryglaze, and fig and walnut (I think?) sauce. Lovely execution. Large portion. I will get this again. French onion soup: 2. served in a crock. Hints of thyme, hints of sweet onion. Beef Broth and fat overpowered everything. Crouton was very soggy. Too much cheese. My youngest loved it, though. Ahi tuna: 5. raw with a firm texture. Coated in sesame seeds and seared. Served over a cucumber salad with soy sauce, wasabi, and ginger. Lovely. We will get this again. Scallops: 5. best dish of all. Beautifully seared, smooth and cool inside. Served with a salad with maple grapefruit vinaigrette and rice with shrimp. This is a must-have if you love scallops. Large portion. Filet mignon: 4. medium-rare, nicely seared. Peppercorn sauce and creme fraiche. Green beans, charred tomato, mini potatoes. Very nicely seasoned. It's standard filet mignon. You get what you expect. My daughter really enjoyed it. Large portion. Lamb: 5. rack. Medium rare (overcooked to medium, but it was actually really good as-is, so we didn't send it back). Really well seasoned. Rosemary polenta was fantastic. Mushroom cream sauce was fantastic. Duck: 3. Breast with mostly crispy skin. Rare. The skin was not scored deeply enough to let the fat render out, so the fat had a pleasant jelly-like consistency to contrast against the crispy skin and rare breast. Bland. Raspberry pan sauce was under-seasoned and much too watery. Asparagus was perfectly cooked. Risotto was perfect. Herbed goat cheese. This dish was really heavy with fat throughout. It needed some sort of acid to brighten it up. Will not get again. Creme brulee: 3. Served with fudge cake (5). The custard was lumpy. The fudge cake was thick and rich. Passion green tea: 5. simple but beautifully executed. Green tea vidka, passion fruit liquor, pineapple, lemon, mint. This is something I'll re-create at home. Will get again. Parasol: 4. Elderflower, grapefruit, and champagne. Grapefruit did not shine through at all. Too sweet and needed the acid from the citrus. read more

The food is pretty good. Having lived in Europe for many years I can say that this is standard fare, not more. We had a 'go to restaurant' in Belgium that was very similar except the Frits were better and here you must pay extra here for the substitution. Bleu is a bit pricey for what it is, and that said, there are a couple of major deal breakers. Firstly, calling for a reservation on a special occasion we request a table by the window and (every time, many times) when we arrive the maître d'hôtel tries to give us the worst table in the house, even when the place is empty. Then we have have to have the big discussion in front of other patrons and review the notes on the reservation, quite embarrassing, and ultimately compromise on a less than desirable table. There is simply no reason to be treated this badly after going there for so many years. I don't know why we put up with it for so long. We have spent quite a bit of money there over the years and always tipped our servers very well, it wasn't their fault. I have so 'had it' with that game, that person. The ambiance is is ok unless you are sitting next to a high traffic route where you get brushed or bumped by every server going back and forth. One note on the ambiance, it is a bit of a spectacle watching people acting very pretentiously in a venue that is far from 'haute'. For the rest, the service is good, except for the maitre d who tries to preface every visit with a downer, even with family from Europe visiting. (they know it as regular fare). The fillet is prime with great pepper cream sauce and the moose is very good too. I will miss them, but just not willing to go through that one more time. read more

Typically there are three metrics on which we evaluate restaurants. The first, of course, is the quality, originality and the deliciousness of the food. The second is the quality of the wait staff, and support structure that both deliver the food and prepare the table. The third is management and the user experience. Bleu surprised and delighted on all 3! Not only were the countless dishes we ordered all absolutely unique and incredible but the staff, clearly dedicated and hard working made sure our experience was seamless. Most importantly, Daniel, the manager worked through some tough schedules to ensure we had a table outside of our immunocompromised folks. Put simply, this place is awesome. Bleu used to be by far the best restaurant on the Cape. I had wonderful food in Bleu numerous times and it was always superb. Every visit to Cape Code Bleu's mussels and dishes like their Shepard Pie were a must. This year my experience was very different. Ordered sparkling water and when we started drinking at the table immediately smelled and tasted the solution that was used to clean the dishes. Either the glasses were not properly washed or not washed at all. The smell was disgusting and we all tasted the solution in our months. The glassware was replaced and we were given a fresh bottle of sparkling water. The silverware wrapped inside of the cloth napkins was dirty. Two people at our table discovered chunks of dry food attached to the silverware. Everyone at the table ordered mussels and it was nothing like the dish we came to love for over 10+ years. Muscles were bland, unseasoned, and had a highly unpleasant taste. Half of the mussels were empty or unopened. I strongly suspect that the owner of the restaurant was not on the premises that day as I just don't see him serving that kind of garbage to customers. In my order, there were at best 10-12 muscles. Everything else we ordered was not good. The Tuna Tartare appetizer looked and tasted like the tuna was a few days old. Cezar Salads did not look or taste fresh. Everything was bad... Every summer I look forward to having Bleu's Crème Brûlée and after the horrible food that we were served, we all skipped the deserts... The next day two out of four people at our party had an upset stomach. Not sure if it was the mussels or the solution that they use for washing dishes. Possibly a combination of both. This is not the Bleu I came to love over the last decade. This is my last visit to that restaurant, unfortunately, I can't give it more than one star. read more
