This was my first time trying Blaze Pizza. I'd seen a YouTube video where a trusted food reviewer had a good experience there (not this particular location, but it's a chain) so I was looking forward to it. I opted to try the 1 topping pizza or 1-top as they call it, with pepperoni as my topping. It's $10.95 for an 11 inch pie. Basically in between a personal pizza and a small pizza in size. It's worth noting that this would've cost only $8.95 2 years ago. But hey, inflation and all that, what can you do? It's still a good deal. And taste wise, it's actually better than many independent pizza places that charge considerably more. I was told there would be a 7-minute wait for my pizza. It seemed like it took only half that long before it was ready. Blaze claims that their average cook time is 3 minutes, so that lines up. The crust was solid. Nothing spectacular, but no problems really. I would have preferred if it were a bit crispier. That seems to be how most of us like our pizza in New England. I would've been fine waiting another minute or so to get the perfect crispy crust. The sauce is super zesty. They lay it on thick, bordering on it being too much. Perhaps a bit peppery for my tastes, but it's a nice sauce. They put a good amount of cheese on, not too much, not too little, and it does taste like good quality cheese, better than the typical chain cheese. Overall, this was a good deal and a good experience. I'll probably come back again, perhaps for pi day (unless it's too busy). Maybe I'll try some of their specialty pies or go a bit crazy picking my own toppings. It wasn't quite good enough to earn a 5-star rating from me, but it's for sure a solid 4. read more

Old Stinky was not overly hungry today so he thought he would punch up for Pizza delivery. Blaze is good because it is fairly close to Stinky's plush, but overly ostentatious condo....which is wicked pissah as Pizza will not arrive cold. Got a two topping of Pepperoni and Ricotta cheese. Seems they forgot to put the Ricotta on it though. Very tasty and the 11 inch is a lot to eat for one person. It was a bit spicier than he prefers, but that may be the Pepperoni. Back to Blaze Pizza for their Pi Day special! This year, you could only redeem the $3.14 pizza deal on actual Pi Day (3/14), so the line was pretty insane. I came during the dinner rush, which was probably a silly idea, but it was actually fun to wait in line in anticipation. Thankfully, they seemed to be ready for the crowds, as they had a lot of employees ready to go. I ended up taking the pizza to go because the shop was so busy and it's a pretty casual interior anyway. I really love the option to build your own pizza with unlimited toppings. As usual, I went a bit crazy, putting just about all the meat and vegetable options on my personal pie! The toppings certainly helped the pizza feel more filling. Was visiting the area in business and this place was a quick walk from my hotel. Was. I was here around 2pm and it was not very busy. Has many pizza options as well as build your own. They also offer salads and other side dishes. The pizzas are made upon order in a large Italian style pizza oven. The pizza was pretty good for a "fast food" type place. I loved this place for years, and ate here almost weekly. The last two times I've visited, though, I've noticed very disturbing things . About two weeks ago there were a large number of flies in the covered plate where they keep the brownies and cookies. The flies were healthy, flying around, crawling on the clear plate cover and on the brownies. Last night, I decided to try again. One of the workers there accidentally knocked a bunch of paper cups on the floor, and then placed them back where they had been - the location where they dispense cups from, so I don't think there was any plan to throw them out. The side of the stacked cups hit the ground and rolled around, so anyone drinking from them would potentially put their lips on the same floor employees are walking around on. I ate at this Blaze for years without noticing any issues, but after those last two visits, will never eat there again. I don't know if it's new management, two one-offs, or if it's been like that all along, but neither of those events gives me any confidence in eating their food. read more

Never heard of Blaze before this! I am genuinely surprised and impressed by this fast casual. The everything pizza is such a great deal considering how they literally let you choose everything. While waiting in line I noticed how they had a lot of online orders so they would alternate between online and in person orders. I think that's a reasonable and fair approach. It just gave me more time to think about toppings. I like how all the toppings are fresh and neat. Sometimes at salad places, you can see how mushy and brown their ingredients are. I also got a chance to observe the employees. Even though we only said a few toppings at a time, they would make sure each topping has a fair representation on your pie without worrying about what will come next. It takes time to neatly place everything but they worked smoothly. The time didn't bother me. I appreciate how they let you choose additional sauces and arugula after the pie comes out of the oven. I tried the newest hot maple drizzle and added more arugula. The drizzle made my pizza a bit sticky but I like the contrasting sweet and spicy. The spice level was sharp enough to cut through all the various toppings. The pizza crust was probably the least exciting part of this. It was flat and tough. I'm thinking it has to do with the machine that molds out the crust. It probably mushed all the natural air pockets inside. I will tolerate this. Overall I'm very satisfied with Blaze both in service and food quality. It's not perfect but considering its price, this is more than worth. Took a while to get our pizzas, it was evident that the kitchen staff had a tough time staying on top of the orders that were coming in and getting them to the hands of customers. The staff that took the order did not seem interested in doing so, and the order form took a little bit to make its way to the counter so I could even pay. And then - it was a waiting game. There seemed to be a lot of confusion as to where someone's pizza was, a lot of searching around of filled boxes and tickets, and there didn't seem to be a clear sense of where your order is in the queue. At least two customers left empty handed as they were told their pizzas had already been given to someone else. My cooked pizza was sitting a full five minutes on the cooling rack and might have stayed there even longer had I not asked if the order was mine and could they please box it. Unclear if it's an operations or staff training issue, maybe both. I got the keto crust veggie pizza, the toppings were fine but I should have probably just stuck to regular dough as the keto version isn't crispy or particularly flavorful. I love Blaze Pizza over Oath Pizza ANY DAY. The pizza they offer is high quality and the prices they are asking are low and reasonable. On top of that, if you order their original crust pizzas (thin crust and delicious) you can get the build your own pizza or any of their signature pizzas for only $8.95 and you can add an unlimited amount of toppings! Crazy deal, right? It's unheard of. You want goat cheese on your pizza? You got it. You want 4 additional types of premium cheeses too? Done. Oh, you also want every meat option they offer? The first time I went to Blaze I got a specialty pie which was good but once I got to choose all my own ingredients (and really got to load it up), it really took off for me. It's a great deal price-wise. The pizza is loaded up with anything you want - lots of meat, cheese, and vegetable choices. It comes out tasting so good. The crust is delicious, and the pizza cooks really well for the perfect amount of time - I don't know how they do it (it's magic). We went there on a holiday around 8 PM and just about every other place to get food was closed. I ordered online and we started walking over and we got there about 10 minutes before the pizzas were finished. I'm more used to just ordering a pizza and picking toppings and their menu was a bit different to choose things so I just ordered 2 large cheese with default settings. We walked back to our hotel and the pizza was great. I didn't know if 2 large would be enough for 4 adults but it was more than enough. Sometimes I work down the street from Blaze and today I decided to come here for my lunch break. First of all, the smell that emanates from this place out onto the street is incredible; if I'm working nearby, I will walk by here at 8 in the morning and can smell them already prepping things for the day. It makes me wonder why I didn't try it sooner. I walked in not really sure what I wanted to get and how everything worked. Wow incredible experience. Let's talk about the pizza itself, this really was one of the best Blaze pizza locations that I've ever been to. Had a really good vegan pizza with veg cheese, chorizo, artichoke, and pesto amongst other toppings. While I really like blaze, this location needs new management. I have never been to the Cambridge location and had anyone working who wanted to work there. The people taking your order just text, or pretend to work on something else instead of greeting you with a smile and taking your order. Recently I was the only one in line and didn't get a hello from the woman attending in front of me for 15 minutes. She just started making a pizza, would walk away in the middle of it for 5 minutes, stop to check her phone, have a conversation with someone else not working, come back over, ignore me still and play with salad containers, rearranging them or whatnot. I FINALLY got acknowledged, asked what I wanted, then they walked away again to go out back suddenly. They come back and start helping other customers! While my dough is just sitting there bare. I get passed over again and again. Eventually get someone to return to my order, no apology, ask what I want for toppings, they START the sauce THEN WALK AWAY FOR 5 MINUTES AGAIN. It was a total of 30 TO 40 minutes when I was the first and only person in line when I got there. This has happened on EVERY OCCASION. The employees just don't care. If you don't like working there, just quit. I'll never be going here again and will be telling my followers not to either. read more

So I have purposely stayed away from Blaze. I know...they are possibly the hottest thing going right now. Why you might ask? Well, the concept just doesn't appeal to me. Choose my own ingredients? Too much pressure! I'd prefer to just enjoy what has already been created. After finally giving in, I get it. You really can't get a better quality product at this price point. Unlimited ingredients for $8? That's serious bang for your buck. Food (all customizable, but I went with the below): Green stripe: pesto, chicken, mozzarella, red pepper, arugula. An ok pizza but would definitely recommend asking the pesto to be used as Both the base and the drizzle. Otherwise the taste of the pesto doesn't come through White top: white cream, mozz, bacon, garlic, oregano. Pretty good pizza overall. Technically speaking, I'd say the pizza is around a 3.5 in terms taste. The ingredients did not blow me away but the crust itself is superb. A light thin crust that doesn't leave you feeling like you just ate a cow. With that being said, Blaze gets bumped up to a 4.0 for several reasons: - very friendly staff - Great drink options (agua frescas!!) - Dessert options! - A fresh pizza in under 5 minutes. - The price point. This restaurants fast-casual atmosphere is similar to that of Chipotle or Subway, having the option to build your own pie or select a signature pie. Theres a variety of toppings, sauces and they even have solid vegan options! The ingredients are fresh and you can load up on as many toppings as you'd like. This certainly isn't my first exposure to Blaze, and the pizza artisans at the counter knew it from the get-go. They were pleased to hear someone that's been to their store on E. Colorado in Pasadena. So I was excited to hear that they were opening up a location in Cambridge, which is actually (believe it or not), easier to get to than in LA. Though sometimes the traffic... The price point at Blaze is attractive, with a personal pizza with whatever topping combinations you can imagine runs at $8. So that, along with a drink (with unlimited refills), will set you back a little over $10. Not bad for what you get. The artisans seem to appreciate the challenge of making pizzas with custom toppings and don't dread the differences. You can get toppings on 1/2 the pizza and different ones (or even sauce) on the other 1/2. I'll freely admit: I'm pretty boring...like, "I've never seen a full episode of 'Game of Thrones'" boring. So I usually get a white top pizza (cream sauce, bacon, arugula, garlic, mozzarella, and maybe mushroom if I'm adventurous) and it's really enjoyable for me. The crust is crisp and not heavily weighted. Some people that think they're smart and load up on heavy toppings (like meats) get a heavy pizza and can't handle the weight. The flavors come to together well and they each standout. The pizza is a classic combination that has a little bit of an upgrade. The meat lovers is another good choice if you're a t-rex and don't care for cholesterol. Though I do add some veggies (like artichokes) so I can delude myself into thinking I'm partaking healthy foods. Service is fantastic and everyone there is friendly. Fast pizza must be having its moment. Early this year, there was a rash of crawfish boil places opening up in the area (Shaking Crab, Loui Loui, Holly Crab), and now it seems to be Chipotle of Pizza's turn - first with local hero Oath Craft Pizza, and now national franchise Blaze Fast-Fire'd Pizza. Pizza for a set price is nice, but it was the lure of free pizza that got me out to this corner of Cambridge one Friday evening, as they decided to celebrate their Thursday 6/2/2016 grand opening with a bang - free pizza on Friday 6/3 all day from 11am - 10pm. Whatta bang! I headed over after work and the line had already built up. A lady left her family clustered behind me to scout things out. But she concluded that with about a hundred people ahead of us that it would take too long for her little ones. Me, I had time till my evening's activities, so I waited. And waited. I waited about an hour from getting in line till getting my pizza. The first person at the counter takes down your name and your basic order. Me, I wasn't basic. I was build your own. So I followed my raw crust dough down the line, pointing out the sauces I wanted to one server (yeah, I got half and half tomato and pesto because I saw someone else do that and I thought it was a grand idea), the meats and veggies to another. Then I could add seasoned salt or oregano - sure, why not some oregano? Mangia, don't ya know. At the register, they slid the pie on the table behind them to await its turn in the oven and took the rest of my order. That's where you can order your drinks (they had some rather fun sounding flavors of agua fesca $1.95 that you can self serve on the side there - key lime mint, prickly pear - as well as blood orange lemonade beside the house-made original lemonade, also $1.95), and $2 s'more pie (like a whoopie pie, but not) if you like. Their pizzas range from $5.25 (basic cheese) to $7.95 (8 signature pies or build your own), with a $6.45 for a 1 topping pizza inbetween. As the gals in line behind me noted, these are great prices for an individual pizza with all the toppings you could want. Then I waited for my name to be called. There could be more room for waiting, but then, I guess normally they won't be expecting a crowd like today, that is only generated by the news of free food. I liked how they cut off some of the burnt edges before slicing up the pies. This was also the point when I could ask them to add any drizzle or a few other select after the fact toppings - arugula in my case. Four of the six slices did me fine for a time, and I took the rest with me to go. Though admittedly, I did end up finishing the rest of the pie along the way... The crust was quite thin, and I ended up preferring the tomato sauce over the pesto, though I overheard another party give props to the cream sauce - ah, if only I had them cover my pie in thirds! But, the grass is always greener! Roasted garlic was a great idea, and I'm glad the server had pointed it out in addition to the minced when I had simply asked for garlic. And I loved how they listed the calories beside each ingredient on the menus that they handed out to us. I will return... they had handed me a Free Pizza With the Purchase of a Regularly Priced Pizza, and that will just encourage my return to be before it expires. As I was leaving, I suggested that they add a hook in the bathroom. Here's hoping! *** 6/2016 *** Yup, the coupon brought me back. This time I went with two of their Signature Pizzas: GREEN STRIPE ~ pesto drizzle over grilled chicken, roasted red peppers, chopped garlic, mozzarella, arugula WHITE TOP ~ white cream sauce with mozzarella, applewood bacon, chopped garlic, oregano, arugula Except I added a base of tomato sauce and some cherry tomatoes to the Green Stripe, which I ended up preferring to the white pizza. Comments: When placing the prepared pizza into the to go box, they tend to place the box on the rack where the pizzas are dropped hot from the oven. Therefore your pizza box bottom may be greasy. This is not good for your car. The pesto drizzle spread out over the pizza on the ride home, thus resulting in an oil slick in the corner of the box - fortunately this was the top box, so my car seat was okay. Blaze is a blessing to those with gluten (and other) allergies. After I discovered my gluten allergy a few years ago, I became deprived of pizza and bread in general. It was pretty emotional. Enter blaze- the ONLY place I get my pizza fix. It's a huge plus that their gluten free crust is also soy free and egg free (very rare combo). Oath craft and Otto's have egg and/or soy in their gluten free crusts. I am leaving my review for this Blaze specifically because they have the best service in comparison to the other branches and usually make sure to follow appropriate protocol when I mention my allergy, which is greatly appreciated. I'm a fan of cold pizza as much as the next person, but not when I order it fresh. The delivery driver was 25 minutes late (that is 25 minutes after confirmation that he went to the wrong address), and the order was screwed up on top of that (obviously not his fault). After a few minutes working through several automated menus in an attempt to reach someone about the order snafu, I received a message saying that the restaurant wasn't taking calls. Cool.
