Blas café is based in the chocolate factory, a lovely old building. The café is a huge open space with high ceilings. It's unique in it's design, as most other places in Dublin are quite cramped where tables are practically stacked upon eachother. Here it's quite the opposite, they could fit loads more tables, but I'm glad they choose not to. They do a lovely brunch on saturday, a small enough menu - but something there for anyone's taste. (eggs, pancakes, full irish etc) I went for the poached eggs and avocado on sourdough and it was yum. (€7, 50 was very good value!). The location might be a bit off-putting, as it's just out of the way of the main hustle and bustle, and not in a street where one would normally venture into unless you live near. I can highly advise anyone to go for that little stroll though and enjoy a brunch/ lunch or just a coffee in blas!

Such a tremendous restoration of the old Williams and Woods building into a creative community with now one of Dublin's best keep secret coffee spots on the ground floor. Here you can enjoy a hearty selection of well considered fresh sandwiches, tasty soups and seasonal blends of coffee which always hit the spot. Breakfast on Saturdays is especially good, and what better industrial, eclectic setting to enjoy it in than the Chocolate Factory. Make sure to pop in and even just grab a coffee or a super convenient location to have a few meetings, your client will be impressed with the venue choice

This café isn't just a café. It's not limited to serving food and pouring coffee, it's more like a big, collaborative space, where you can see other people working, browse design pieces and, yes, grab something for lunch. As a coffee alone they're ok. I'd give only 3 stars though, because it's a bit on the expensive side and the service is.. well.. all over the place and somewhat slow. You queue to order your food, but most people take a long time by the cashier because it's hard to read the menu before you get there - they should solve this design problem. However the food is truly tasty and fresh, with good vegetarian options. They also have a nice selection of teas if you're only after a hot beverage and a pastry. What I really like at Blas is the large open plan interior, the different types of tables that seem so welcoming to different groups of people and the cool ambiance - not too relaxed, not too buzzing. This is a place to visit if you're not in a hurry.

I'm massively into this set up. It looks like Hipster Goldilocks' gaff

The wall fountain was broken, obviously a long time ago and remains a stagnant mess, neglected. This is such a pity as this museum is fabulous, just fabulous. It's a must-see. . This does a disservice to one of Dublin's true treasures. The High Lane is packed with masterpieces and marvels, this restaurant brings it down - though it has a hip and delightful decor- it is badly run, and the wall fountain and outside interior garden has to be repaitred and maintained. Can we ditch the ugly "farmer" picket fence that surrounds what should be a lovely pond and water feature???

Workers from the nearby offices relax within the jocular interior alongside viewers-of-the-gallery, reveling in the contemporary surroundings made up of buoyant wooden floors and stylish white walls, all of which come together to create a modish environment that nicely compliments the creative milieu of the overall gallery in which to enjoy your tea or lunch break. Tea, coffee, a choice of cakes, quiches, tasty antipasta as well as salads are all on offer, all the selection revealed having been written up in chalk on the blackboard above the cashier counter. This is certainly a laudable place for lunch, and glasses of wine are sold to further your enjoyment. These, together with the actuality that it is the official eatery of an illustrious gallery all affix the café with much significance. However, being fundamentally located in the basement it does feel a smidgen poky and boxed in and whilst the food is sufficient, it is not startling.

I've no doubt the famous scribe himself would have felt right at home here. The interior has an authentic ramshackle feel with a dusty old piano, birdcage and various other bric-a-brac. A red rope prevents punters from exploring upstairs sadly. The cafe serves up a variety of no-nonsense fair, with homemade soups, tasty sandwiches and cakes all on offer at reasonable prices. I always admire somewhere brave enough to serve imaginative soup flavours outside of the crowd-pleasing chicken and vegetable bracket. A steaming bowl of Garlic soup was the ideal antidote to the damp afternoon outside on my visit. Cobalt also boats a lovely leafy-green garden area, the perfect urban escape if the weather is forgiving.

One of the hottest days of the year and we were dragging around a suitcase and in desperated need of a coffee having been awake since 6am. (Surely flights shouldn't go that early?) So in we went. It was a light, high-ceilinged room painted a refreshing Frenchish shade of light blue. Large plants in the corners, a piano, some interesting paintings and little flowers gave the place a vibe which was both elegant and relaxing. We only ordered coffee, however there was a range of yum-looking food available too, as well as an outside garden to enjoy it in. The price was reasonable, the service friendly and we were by no means rushed out afterwards. Will happily return.

The staff were friendly and it was busy, but not too full. I came in a little after 130pm, and I think I'd been in a bit earlier there would have been longer lunch queues. If there is a queue it's worth the wait. I haven't had a Reuben sandwich probably since I left Canada in 2016 (Reuben's are American, but you can get them all over Canada too). Dark rye bread, corned beef, sauerkraut, swiss cheese, dill pickle, and Russian dressing. It was delicious. Pickles aren't a staple on Reuben sandwiches, but I love pickles and was happy with this addition. It adds a nice little tang, along with the dressing. The soup was warm and delicious with a bright tomato flavour. Soup changes daily. Portions were quite large. I just got the soup and sandwich and when I ordered I wondered if it would be enough. It was. My tummy was quite happy after lunch here. I'll be back for sure. Or maybe I'll just order in, because they have free delivery in D1.
