Lovely place and appears to be run by an Italian family. Friendly staff, good produce and very nice sandwiches. The coffee is also very good

Nice food esp Cuban Sandwich. Can be pricey for €6 and service can be slow even in the take away area but worth it for a Friday treat.

We had champagne to start Three canapés The menu was Foie gras with apple sorbet That sorbet was incredible!! Red mullet bouillabaisse Cos with truffle, cauliflower and roasted yeast Pyrenees lamb with wild garlic, morels, artichoke and white asparagus which also came with lamb shoulder in a dill sauce Clementine and milk tart Chocolate praline dessert with a white coffee ice-cream We finished with coffee and petit fours. Ate here a while ago, and forgot to complete my review. It is a bit outdated, but still helpful to…read moresome I hope. The Greenhouse seems to be the "it" restaurant in Dublin at the moment. There has been much fanfare with the opening of the restaurant, and its chef, Mikael Viljanen. Although only opened for several months, many are anticipating a Michelin Star from The Greenhouse. Unfortunately, The Greenhouse did not get a Michelin start this year, but they are definitely headed in the right direction. Chef Viljanen is very creative and many of the dishes have a molecular gastronomy spin on them. The restaurant is extremely small, only 40 seats. Eating at The Greenhouse is more of an experience, so they won't rush you out the door trying to turn over tables. With all of the recent publicity, trying to get a reservation isn't easy at the last minute. It is suggested that reservations be made at least one week in advance. I was fortunate to get a lunch reservation. I had tried to walk-in the night before, but there were no openings and the kitchen was closing. We decided to eat at One Pico instead and the General Manager there, Andrew, called The Greenhouse to see if they could squeeze us in the following day. He was able to get a lunch reservation, and the General Manager, David O'Brien, from The Greenhouse even came over to One Pico to introduce himself and said he was looking forward to us eating there the following day. We ordered the Chef's Choice Five Course Tasting Menu. The meal started off with an amuse bouche of a maitake mushroom cream puff. A perfectly light and crunchy cream puff shell encasing, a rich earthy filling of mushrooms. The first course was foie gras, royale and frozen, green apple and candied nuts. This dish is a grab bag of flavors, textures and temperatures. Pairing the earthy and velvety foie gras with the tartness of green apples, and the sweet crunchiness of nuts will keep your taste buds dancing and wanting more. The second course was a Jerusalem artichoke veloute with truffle oil. The soup is silky smooth. The truffle oil adds some richness and earthiness to the dish. A very well balanced course. The third course was cod, smoked mussels and cauliflower puree with hazelnut oil. The cod was cooked to perfection. Still slightly translucent in the middle, the delicate flavor rose right to the top. The smoked mussels were tender and did not overpower the cod. The cauliflower puree added some earthiness to the dish. A great way to start the meal. The fourth course was venison, pumpkin puree, roasted shallots and bacon. The venison was a perfect medium rare. The roasted shallots added some sweetness to the dish. The pumpkin puree added some earthiness, while the bacon added some saltiness and a textural contrast. The meal ended with a dessert of chocolate, carmelized onions, with sorbet and a mousse like dish, and milk solid crisps. The dish just did not work for me. The sorbet and mousse was strange to have as a dessert and was rather tart. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the name of the ingredient and lost my notes, but it is something that is usually associated with savory dishes rather than desserts. To me it did not pair well with the chocolate. The menu at The Greenhouse is very ambitious and creative, but certainly in the right hands with Chef Viljanen at the helm.

The food was really good too, we tried the following: Tuna Tartar (~€13), my favorite appetizer here by far, refreshing and the flavors are balanced and great My friend got the cumin ribs (€36), fall off the bone, my friend loved it Friend rice cakes (~€8), I liked it, but my friend didn't like the sauce, it was too sweet for them Miso Salmon (~€15), super good, nice and refreshing Tuna Boa (€18), it was crispy, and all but it wasn't for me, like I didn't like it at all, the manager was great and got me a replacement that I preferred instead. It was refreshing to get American quality customer service here in Dublin. Truffle Fries with Parmesan cheese (~€6), it was good Sticky Toffee Pudding with Ginger Ice Cream and Miso Salted Caramel sauce (~€12), super good All in all will definitely go back, great food and night out.

Last night in Dublin for my boyfriend and I and we wanted burgers. We googled best burgers in…read moreDublin and The Counter came up as one of them. So, we said, alright lets give it a go! Atmosphere: Modern bar. Very busy and noisy. Service: Not the best. We got seated pretty quickly but we waited forever before someone came to take our drink order. I saw multiple staff members just hanging out. Some of them eating a the bar just chatting. Our waitress didn't even say hi - just "are you ready to order?" When I asked a few questions about the burgers she was pretty clueless. Nice enough and all, but honey, you really should know your menu. She never asked us what temp we wanted our burgers cooked to either. Once we ordered our burgers, it took a good 25 minutes before they came out. A food runner gave us our plates. While we were waiting I noticed that the majority of the staff looked about 16 years old. Maybe a night time manager would be a good idea?? Our waitress did check in but didn't keep an eye on our drinks and I ran out of soda before finishing my burger AND my boyfriend ran out of his beer. Missed opportunity to earn more money.... When we finished our meal, we sat there a long time before someone else came to clear our dishes. We then waited for the bill for another 10 minutes....Thank goodness we didn't need change and could just get up and leave! Food: The food, however, was really good. I got the Old School Burger, very classic beef burger, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, red onions, relish sauce, brioche bun. The burger meat is antibiotic and hormone free and really did taste fresh and delicious. All the stuff that came with it complemented the burger nicely and I was definitely pleased. The relish sauce really made it. My boyfriend got the Bacon BBQ Burger - beef burger, cheddar cheese, smoked bacon, tomatoes, lettuce, fried onion strings, hickory BBQ sauce on brioche bun. He thought it was really good. The fried onion strings were really good and the BBQ sauce was tangy and sweet. We both got the shoestring fries and they were okay. Nothing special, but not bad. If they seasoned them a bit it might take things up a notch. The presentation of the burgers is quite impressive. The fries come in a separate stand up container which is fun. There is a full bar with beer, wine, and cocktails. My boyfriend got 8 degrees sunburnt red beer which he liked quite a bit. I just had a diet coke. You can make your own burger if you don't want to get a specific one on the menu. There are a variety of burger bases, buns, toppings, sauces, and such to choose from. If you don't want fries for a side they have sweet potato fries, side salads, coleslaw, etc. They offer other menu items as well such as sandwiches, salads, appetizers, shakes/malts/floats. Cost: Most of the burgers were 10-12 euros. You pay extra for sides. The fries we got added an additional 2.50 euros each. My boyfriends beer was 5 euros, my soda 3 euros. So, as always, it adds up quick, but the prices are pretty reasonable. Especially because you really do get your money's worth. The burgers are no joke! I would definitely recommend this burger chain. I am hoping one opens in Clifton Park soon. I want to try all their other burgers!!!

With vegetarians and other conservative eaters in our party, we found this place a godsend for a midafternoon pre-Trinity-College-sightseeing meal. Actually, it's pretty good on its own merits. I've eaten at other Counters and I like the setup...but there are too many choices! Patty, bun, cheese, toppings, and sauce. So many options! But if you enjoy culinary creativity and/or control, you will not go wrong here. The sides are good too, except that they were out of fried pickles. Sad face. We enjoyed regular fries, sweet potato fries, and grilled vegetables. Everyone enjoyed their burgers, so the meal was a success. Ironically, The Counter has table service, so it's not quite as quick as you might hope. But their sodas are from a fountain (yay, American style) so you can get refills. Plus, a bonus--their soundtrack of classic rock and respectable 80s and 90s tunes inspired at least four individuals in our multigenerational group to sing at various times. Clearly, they are all about variety.
