I got the Jasmine Grape Pear Chiffon Cake. Absolutely delicious - I like cakes that are light and fluffy and this cake matches my liking perfectly. The takeout box include a cute card that includes the labeling of cake and flavor ratings. Great attention to detail for the packaging. The interior is also super spacious and cute. Really good place for friends to gather together.

My friend and I came across an article that speaks highly of the décor in this themed cake boutique slash café, so we thought we should pay a visit. It definitely lived up to its hype with regards to its décor - green and white make up the interior colour palette and you'll see raised platforms which display a variety of pieces from artwork, lego builds, sculptures to china, kind of like a museum like its store name says. The store has two floors so there was a plenty of seats. It would be a nice place for a gals' hangout, going on a date or quiet study if you'd like (not sure if customers can access their wifi though). Here comes the food! Miniature cakes seem to be what the store specializes in. We got the Jasmine Grape Pear Chiffon Cake and a cheesecake that was Yuzu and matcha flavoured. Each cake was served with a little illustrated card that tells you the ingredients and the flavour profile of the cake, such as sweetness and acidity. We found that very cute. Both cakes are worth a try! They are overall not too sweet and flavourful. The only thing is the Yuzu and matcha weren't prominent but I did enjoy it very much since I was simply craving for a dense cheesecake with its heaviness offset by light flavours. I also find the cakes a bit overpriced compared to similar cake boutiques. We ordered beverages to go with the cake. I'd say their drinks are creative and actually pretty good! We picked the strawberry latte (cold) and tiramisu latte (hot). The strawberry latte had swirls of strawberry purée and the tiramisu latte had a layer of cream-like substance on top that tasted just like tiramisu. Drinks are priced at what you can get at ordinary cafés. All in all it was a pleasing experience. I can really see the store make better use of the space of its store front, perhaps by having a bigger sign. I find it a bit unfortunate that the entrance is almost camouflaged in a ginormous wall art that basically covers the entire building and we barely noticed its presence. Very underwhelming.

This place is pretty and comfortable and nicely decorated! And it's very spacious with two level seatings. It's a nice place for friends to gather and chat! The cake they sell there are also very pretty decorated and very pleasant to look at , but the asking price do reflected on this as it's not cheap. I really do want to like the cake but It doesn't has any particularly distinct flavor from any of the layer of the cake when I byte into it... just lacks the wow factor from the taste perspective. As example, if I try cakes from Duo, the flavour just jump right into my taste buds but the cake here somehow lacks a distinct flavor and from my opinion, and it need to taste outstanding if it is asking $10 a piece. I am not saying it taste bad, I am saying for this price, I expect more. But that's just me ... again, i only tried two cakes here so my comments here are based on the two pieces of cake I tried here. See my photos for the two kinds I tried :) This place has its value, absolutely a good choice if you need a nice place to hang out with your friends and while at it, you want something pretty to munch on and all these together can created a great vibe for friends gathering and to me this is better value from this perspective because there are cost for using the decorated place to hang out and u pay for this also from the cake and drink pricing. But if u just want to buy take out and enjoy a nice piece of dessert later at home, in my opinion, average $10 a piece is abit too much for the quality you get and I can get a better tasting cake with also excellent cake presentation some where else like Duo.

(Didn't know this till after I tasted the drink) I asked her why it isn't with the yellow mung beans she insisted this is the drink! There's a clear picture it's yellow mung beans not long rectangular coconut jelly! I had so look forward to coming for crepes and pho, but makes me doubt how authentic their food is if they can't even make the basic che dessert! The Che ba mau was disgustiing! Imagine coconut drink mixed with sour lime jello that's how it tasted! $9 for 2 drink seemed like a good deal but they have no idea how to make drinks!

I have been to this eatery a number of times over the years. It started off being Pho VietStar. The…read moresame owners had CrepeStar two doors down. They ended up buying the business between the two eateries, knocked down a couple of walls, and renamed the place CrepeStar Dessert Cafe and Bistro. This eatery is located at Aurora Shopping Centre. It's a plaza, so the name can be a bit misleading. There is plenty of parking. My orders have mostly been takeout. I came here a lot during the pandemic when you couldn't dine at restaurants. I have ordered a number of items for takeout, including the following: - Pork belly baos (two) that comes with fries - A side order of gravy - Chicken fresh rolls - Spicy grilled shrimp The pork belly baos were yummy! The veggies were crunchy and fresh. The pork belly was tender and flavourful. I would have put more protein in them, but they satisfied my craving for pork belly baos. If you have been reading my reviews for a bit, you'll know that fries aren't high on my list of sides. I'd rather get onion rings, a side salad, or sweet potato fries. However, I was game getting gravy. The fries taste homemade and weren't oily. You can see bits of potato skin on each fry. The gravy was perfect. It wasn't overly thick. It wasn't thin or salty. Just right. I enjoyed this combo. The fresh rolls are huge here! It was smart that they were separated by a banana leaf. The veggies here are amazingly crunchy and tasty. The vermicelli was done right. The chicken was tender and flavourful. Again, I feel that there could be more protein in it. Maybe I'm just a protein hog. The spicy grilled shrimp are yummy. They were plump and flavourful. My food was impeccably packed and tasted so fresh with every bite. I have dined in once. I had ordered grilled pork belly pho (P8). The owners advised that they were short on pork belly. I got steak, too! The pho here was fantastic. The broth was amazing. The pork belly and steak were tender and flavourful. I loved it! It comes in one size -- generous! I recently came here to pick up Krispy Kreme donuts. They were a part of the Best Buddies Prom drive. This charity that promotes inclusion by creating lasting one-to-one friendships between individuals living with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD and Autism Spectrum Disorder). The owners have an autistic son, so this charity drive was near and dear to them. I ordered a dozen donuts. They were ready for pickup at the end of February. I came here after work. It was easy to speak to a friendly male staffer and tell him my name. He immediately found my order and handed me my donuts. They were Krispy Kreme glaze donuts. You can't just have one. They were so fresh and yummy. Naturally, I looked at the Kawartha Lakes ice cream and sherbet flavours. I decided to get a cup of raspberry sherbet. The cup size was huge! I paid with a debit card. I tapped and was good. I thanked the nice man and headed to my car. I enjoyed my raspberry sherbet. It was delicious and refreshing. Kawartha Lakes does frozen treats right. It's a decent Vietnamese place in Aurora for good eats, which has rekindled my fondness for the town. The sherbet was excellent. I need to return and try the crepes next. (128)

Last Saturday, I was in my car, parked steps away from Zoup! I had placed a dinner order. I looked across the plaza and noticed Paris Baguette (PB). I had visited COBS Bread a couple of hours earlier. Did I need another bakery visit? Yes! I had some time to kill before picking up my dinner. It was raining. I drove over to PB and parked relatively close to the store. I walked in. I felt like I was in heaven. Carb heaven. Where should I start? I got a tray. There were instructions to grab a small piece of paper and lay it on the tray. I got tongs and went to work. I saw palmiers. My mom loves them. I grabbed one with my tongs and broke off a curved section. It was probably a first for me. I ate the broken part and placed the imperfect palmier on my tray. The broken piece was yummy and was perfection. I finally understood why my mom loves palmiers. I hit the croissant section. I got a pain au chocolat, which is probably my favourite type of croissant. I also got a chocolate croissant. A nice, older woman started chatting with me. She was so sweet. She let me know that she frequents this bakery often and loves it. I asked her what items she hasn't had. It was two items, which floored me. She noticed the chausson aux pommes that I had on my tray and said that it was yummy. I got the following items: - Chausson aux pommes - Chocolate croissant - Pineapple brûlée pastry - Palmier - Pastel de nata - Pain au chocolat - Curry croquette The nice woman let me know that Mia, who was the staffer behind the counter, let her know that this bakery has Korean owners. Really? It made sense seeing mochi donuts. We both hit the checkout counter. Mia got her order and said to grab a seat. She'd bring everything to her. This nice woman said that she was shy of being 90 years old. What?! She looked great! I wouldn't have guessed that I was talking to an 89-year-old woman during my entire time here. I hope that when I am her age, I am savouring pastry as often as my new friend. Mia was great. She put all my pastries in a box. She singled out my savoury curry croquette in a paper bag. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was good. I got my receipt, thanked her, grabbed my goodies, wished my new friend a wonderful day, and left. There was a Wild game that night. I had a pastry each period. Three pastries in three hours. They were delicious! I will say that the ones with fresh fruit were the most expensive, just over $6. They were worth it. The chausson aux pommes had the best apple filling. It was flaky and delicious. I absolutely devoured the pineapple brûlée pastry. The pineapple chunks were set in custard and were so naturally sweet. This pastry was superb. The pain au chocolat continues to be my favourite croissant. It was flaky and had the best chocolate in every bite. So good! I had the chocolate croissant and loved it. It was fresh, flaky, and soft. The chocolate drizzle had the right amount of chocolate with the buttery croissant. I was extremely happy with my pastel de nata. The custard had a hint of sweetness. The base of flaky. It could have been torched on top more, but I'd get half a dozen next time. I didn't know what to expect with the curry croquette. It was delicious. It had a crispy exterior, crusted with a mix of white and black sesame seeds. The curry filling was full of good flavour. It had veggies in it. The corn and carrot combination worked nicely. I raved about this place to my friend at work today. There's one at Heartland in Mississauga, which is perfect for us to do a run after work. I had an excellent experience. It was nice meeting a passionate pastry lover while getting her take on what she loves. Everything that I consumed was excellent. I hope to get a drink next time and perhaps sit down to enjoy it. I'll be back. (117)

Tip: Mr Puffs has stuffed puffs…read more I had only been to two Mr Puffs locations in my life. The one that I have frequented the most is by my workplace. The other was its Lansdowne Park location in Ottawa. I will admit that I stopped going to the one by my workplace. I don't know why. I really should go back to my habit of getting a box of hot-out-of-the-fryer puffs after work. These days, I have been reacquainting myself with Aurora. On Saturday, I was driving up Bayview Avenue and noticed a Mr Puffs sign next to an A&W. These two eateries occupy the old Panera Bread store that stayed vacant for the longest time. It was nice to see it spruced up with new businesses. After having a late lunch, I had placed a takeout order for dinner. Yes, I don't skip a planning beat with meals... haha! While waiting for my takeout order, I felt the need to swing by this Mr Puffs location. It's in a plaza that I used to frequent often a good decade ago. The Sheridan Nurseries across from this business used to be Michael-Angelo's, a grocery store that I loved getting Portuguese custard tarts from. I found a parking spot fairly close to Mr Puffs. I parked my car and then headed over to the store. There are two sets of doors to go through before you see the counter. There was a woman with three kids in front of me. It was perfect to go through the menu. There were new offerings. You can get stuffed puffs now. I wanted my usual crispy-chewy puffs, but I was excited to see new items. It offers a Dubai series of items. I may need to do Dubai puffs next time. I wanted a light snack. I went with twelve puffs. The woman taking my order was helpful and nice. I got apple cinnamon and raspberry puffs. Both glazes are comforting and yummy. I frankly don't think there is a glaze that I despise. The choco series is yummy, too. She asked for my name for the order. I like that touch rather than employing a number system. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was good. This store is spacious and nice. There was a group of six folks sitting around a circular table. It almost looked like they were having a group therapy session with puffs. There was also seating where the kids and mom were. This store has a ton more seating here than the Dixie location in Mississauga and has a more relaxed atmosphere than the Lansdowne Park location. There were two orders ahead of me. I got to check out branded drinkware. Mr Puffs now offers spreads in jars, such as hazelnut, pistachio, choco-loco (hazelnut and white chocolate), and more. Nice! It was great seeing puffs made in front of my eyes. I watched a male staffer glaze a box of thirty puffs. Yum! The woman called my name. I was excited. I thanked her and wished her a good evening. She reciprocated. I safely secured my box of deliciousness in my car. I drove over to fetch my dinner order. Once I had that order in my car, I opened my Mr Puffs box to enjoy puffs that I haven't had in at least a year. I got fourteen of them. I always like when I get bonus puffs. I feel like I've won a jackpot of sorts. It's also nice that I got my favourite number of them. The puffs were heavenly. Crispy and chewy. The apple cinnamon had the perfect balance of apple goodness with comforting cinnamon. I appreciate that the glazes aren't too sweet. The raspberry was delicious. It looked like I had licked all the raspberry glaze at the bottom of the box when I was done. It was great enjoying some puffs again. I love this location. I'm not sure why the rating are so low. My experience was excellent, so maybe things have improved these days. (7)

I've ordered from this location three times now, and unfortunately, they've always forgotten something. Yesterday, I ordered the 30-puff box with Cappuccino Crisp and Hazelnut Biscotti, the worker even repeated my order. Since it was a gift, I didn't open the box to check. However, when we finally did, we realized the Hazelnut Biscotti topping was missing. Additionally, I wish they had checked the box for cleanliness before handing it off. When I got out of the car, I noticed chocolate on our white seats. Upon checking, I found a large smear of chocolate on the bottom of the box, which also got on my pants. Despite these mishaps, we did enjoy the puffs. We just wish all the toppings had been included as ordered and that the box was checked
